All Ripped Up!
Ripped denim jeans and ripped denim shorts are taking the summer by storm! They’re everywhere, so if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. See how the ladies of Fab Four Fashion fell into their ripped denim best!
I love jeans, jeans, jeans, jeans; jeans I do adore (sorry, that was the Jay Z fan in me LOL). But yes, I live in jeans. Skinny jeans, wide leg jeans and yes, ripped jeans. Since we have been experiencing some serious heat waves, I was happy to reach for my denim shorts.
Denim shorts are something that I’ve always liked to have in my closet. I carry them on every single trips (something about crossing a border and allowing my shorts to be shorter and shorter.. LOL).
Now, I know that we all have jeans lying around our house that we don’t really wear, right? This was the case for these shorts. I liked the way that they fit my booty but didn’t love the cut. So instead of just getting rid of them, I reached for my scissors and voila! A new pair of jean short that cost me nothing at all.
I wear my denim short with just about anything, but for this look, I wanted added sophistication. So I grabbed a jacket because nothing says sophisticated like a suit! And the yellow is the perfect summer color! Who am I kidding, I wear that thing all year round!
I’ve mentioned before that I’ve not always been a fan of denim but I must say that I’ve come to really love them! I think I’ve just developed the patience to try on pair after pair until I’ve found the pair that fits properly. Anyhow, now I’m adding ripped denim jeans to my repertoire.
I found this comfy pair of jeans at Addition Elle. Let me tell you the denim itself is so soft – like slipping into a pair of pajamas! These light wash, skinny style, mid-rise, 5 pocket cropped jeans feature rips at the knees. I could wear these bad boys all day without complaint as they’re so light weight as well.
I paired these denim wonders with a white lace bodysuit. Yes, I went a little RISKAY – you only live once! My fellow fluffies, its ok to take a couple of fashion risks! This bodysuit features this cool opening in the back which I love! The size range of the suit is 1-3X but I’ve linked similar styles in extended to accommodate larger sizes. I completed my look by adding large silver hoop earrings, cuff and pumps. With that my look is complete!

So now that I hit 40 I actually stopped and asked myself (and a couple friends too), am I too old to wear shorty shorty short shorts??? And trust me people these babies are short. Like if you stare really hard you might catch a glimpse of butt cheak (but that is really ony if you look really, really hard!lol). Anyhow, after much consideration, I came to the conclusion that I am really only as old as I feel. I love these shorts. They show off the areas of my body I like (i.e. my long legs), they are high-waisted, comfy, and stylish to boot.
Once I fully committed to these babies, I knew I wanted to wear them with a bit of colour. This bodysuit did the trick. I have not always been a fan of bodysuits because the fit can be tricky with my slim frame yet long torso and the high potential for uncomfortable wedgies – LOL, but I figured out that if I go up a size, I get a better fit overall.
I kept this look pretty simple by adding simple accessories , but adding a bold lip colour that is outside of my usual lip picks. And with that, I’m ready for summer patios, day parties,or a casual dinner with friends.
shorts // Bustier
I am obsessed with my ripped light denim jeans. They’re all I want to wear this summer with my t-shirts, off-the-shoulder tops or something like this bomb-ass BUSTIER.
I found these, my fave pair of shorts, at Forever 21. I love that they are high-wasted so that they cover my problem area – my tummy, and surprisingly they don’t have a lot of stretch but are still very comfortable.
I don’t feel as though the denim is cutting into my skin, and they have the right amount of rips in them so I don’t have to reach for my scissors.
Lately I’ve been in a relaxed fashion mode, mixing vintage pieces with new ones. I have been searching and searching for years for the perfect bustier that fit me properly and voilà I finally found it. Space vintage is a cute little black owned boutique located in the heart of Kensington Market in Toronto. What I love about them is that they carry cute plus size pieces and this bustier was one of my favourite finds.
I’m planning to rock this outfit at a nice day party okkuuuur. And remember ladies it’s all about mixing old pieces with new pieces.
Tah tah for now,
