Dedo Azu Official

So when we think of Africa, yeah, we’ll admit it, some of us do think of open top Land Rovers traversing the Serengeti in hopes of spotting a pride of lions or herd of elephants seeking shade under an acacia tree. However, most importantly, as one of the richest continents in the world, Africa is not only known as the motherland and the birth place of all humankind of even greater significance, at least to these Fab Four fashionistas, it boasts some of the most GORGEOUS and inspired prints in the world! That’s why Fab Four Fashion took it all the way back to where it all began and decided to feature cool creations courtesy of Ghana’s own Dedo Azu. Dedo proves that “if you build it, they will come”, as she has built several businesses and we, and now you, will be clamouring to get your hands on these precious printed pieces!

Nancy’s Look

I have mentioned my mysterious friend Dedo in this post and this post and this one, oh and this one too! Am I a fan or am I a fan? LOL Many have asked how they could get their hands on her beautiful creations, but we couldn’t quite reveal it just yet. Well the secret is out of the bag: meet the ever so talented Dedo Azu!

On top of being a super sweet individual, she has a great eye for fashion. She spots the most beautiful fabrics and comes up with the best designs; like this fabulous skirt. I must admit that I’m not always a fan of high low skirts… but THIS ONE!??! It took my breath away as soon as I laid eyes on it.

The craftsmanship is impeccable. The skirt is fully lined, therefore it’s not flimsy. The pleating adds interest; and the length is perfect; and it cinches my waist perfectly; and the print is awesome. I just love this skirt, can you tell?? LOL

This skirt pairs well with a myriad of solid colors because of the amazing print, but I chose to walk on the wild side and partake in a little print mixing. It just makes for a little more fun! I finished off with simple accessories and my new favorite sandals!

Gail’s Look

A photograph of Solange Knowles wearing a sexy sleeveless mini dress in a contemporary African print design is what first drew me to the world of beautiful African prints.

I must admit that I had not considered the design possibilities of African prints as I thought they were solely for traditional garments worn only for special occasions (please forgive my naiveté).

When our dear friend, Dedo Azu, offered us the opportunity to have something made specifically to suit our sizes and shapes I jumped at the chance.

I sent off my measurements via email to Dedo along with dress styles I was interested in. This dress is a beautiful fit and flare style with hidden zip front, hitting me just above my knee.

The fabric is reminiscent of what is traditionally used in making dashikis.  What’s more is that the dress has pockets too!

Since the print of the dress has a retro vibe I paired it with my Mom’s vintage leather hobo purse and wore vintage style sandals to complete the look.

Judy’s Look

When our girl Dedo left Toronto to build her business, we didn’t know what to expect. Knowing her as we did, we all knew that she was going to create something well worth waiting for. Fast forward a few years and she’s come back to visit us in Toronto with her beautiful clothing creations. By simply taking our measurements, she made the ladies of Fab Four Fashion some gorgeous pieces. By employing stunning African fabrics in her creations, she elevates the simplest silhouette to the next level of cool. Each creation represents a piece of art carefully crafted by the artist, so hers is a name you need to remember: Dedo Azu!

Well imagine my surprise when I first clapped eyes on this jumper.  First, I jumped up and down because I loved the colours and the print: and second I jumped up and down again because it’s a JUMPER! This jumper is the perfect “Judy Killer-Combo” because as you probably know by now, I have a love affair with jumpers, and the colours in this piece; the shade of yellow, cream and blue blend perfectly with my complexion.

I love the shoulder details and the v neckline at the back.  This is such a feel good summer jumper! I can dress it down with a simple flat sandal to go gallivanting around the city or dress it up with high heels for an evening out.

To finish off my look, since the jumper was a show stopper, I simply paired it with a simple gold bracelet and brown high heeled sandals.

One of the many advantages of having clothes custom made to your body, is that the bust and hip area fit perfectly. I have enough room to move freely and breathe deeply. This piece is a great addition to my jumper collection and I couldn’t wait to showcase it to the world.

What I love about African prints, is when they are combined with North American styles and silhouettes and these pants hit the mark on all fronts. Paired here with a simple white shirt, this look is the perfect blend of both worlds. And now for the best part….you ready?….We supplied her with our measurements and she made it for our bodies! “Bespoke” my beating heart! What is more, if we chose to, we could also choose the fabric and print we wanted as well! There is truly no end to her greatness!

Thank you for supplying beautiful clothing that fit ALL women! Just for the record, she makes menswear as well, so I should really be saying thank you for creating clothing that can fit everybody!
