Printed In Kaela Kay
It’s no secret that we ladies of Fab Four Fashion love to rock an awesome print so when Leslie and I happened to attend Kuwala’s Pop Up Shop this summer which featured beautiful African print clothing in all of its splendour, we were in heaven!
As I was perusing through the racks, I locked eyes on this gorgeous African print Kaela Kay dress by designer extraordinaire, Catherine Addai. Catherine’s beautiful designs have been seen on the likes of Emmy award winning director, Ava Duvernay, and actress, Teyonah Parris.
Catherine Addai, the woman behind Kaela Kay, is an accountant by trade but pursued her passion to create modern contemporary African print clothing for women of all sizes – something we ladies of Fab Four Fashion really appreciate.
Not only does Catherine design and create beautiful clothing, she also offers one on one custom design services where clients can work with her to create a completely unique item. She assists clients in selecting fabric and a design resulting in a truly personalized experience. She also offers wardrobe styling and private shopping services with clients can too!
One of the first things that struck me when meeting Catherine is how incredibly personable and approachable she is. She makes you feel as though she’s known you forever. She’s like a dear friend who you root for to win and win big!
So, as I said, I was going through the racks and locked eyes as this gorgeous dress that I just had to have. I looked at the tag with some trepidation hoping and praying the tag would show my size but alas, it was missing in action. I turned to Catherine mentioning that although loved the dress, called The Ronke Tulip dress, my size wasn’t there on the racks. Catherine, quick as a flash said, “No problem, we can make it for you in your size!” She took my measurments right there on the spot and a week later I received my dress!
This custom made creation is a fit and flare dress, which has pockets woohoo, is made from 100% wax cotton. As we’re stepping into fall I decided to pair my dress with a navy faux leather jacket from Wilsons Leather to keep the cool breezes at bay. I also reached for my navy Mulberry tote to hold on my bits and bobs. I kept the blue colour running with these cobalt blue slingback heels and similarly coloured earrings – and just like that my Kaela Kay outfit is complete!
Recently, Catherine had her first solo runway show featuring designs from her Fall 2017 collection and lets just say, we ladies of Fab Four were left drooling over her designs. We look forward to watching Catherine’s star continue to rise as she continues to chase her fashion design dreams! For a sneak peek from the runway show see below.
Tah Tah for now,
