Suited and Booted in Sumissura
Custom suit anyone? Well Sumissura has a suit with your name on it! And trust us, these suits are boss! The only thing that could make them any better, would be if they had Vibranium woven into them!;-)
These Sumissura suits are just so fab that we just had to take it to Cityline!Click the image below to see the segment.
As I said in our Cityline segment, finding the perfect suit when you’re almost 6ft tall is HARD! If you’re lucky to find one, you’re most likely restricted to black, gray and maybe navy. How BLAH is that. With over 150 fabrics to choose from, designing the suit of your dreams is now a reality!
Want a white suit to fit your frame, whatever size you are? You can! You even get to choose from three different shades of white! You get to decide if you want slim or loose fit pants, peak lapel or shawl, you can even chose the color of the lining of your suit or if you want your initials!
Designing a suit sight unseen may seem daunting. Well have no fear because the makers of Sumissura have you covered. To ensure perfect fit, the website prompts you to input several measurements. For each measurement there is a video demo to ensure accuracy.
I decided to go for a single breasted slim fit jacket with ankle length pants in the Doyle premium fabric. Since I was 7 months pregnant, I opted to go with pants with a flat front and zipper on the side. This was a must as it was the most helpful pregnancy hack: I was able to wear my pants unzipped (given that I was going to wear them with a shirt or jacket that covered the opening of my pants). The belt ensured that my pants comfortably stayed up! This allowed me to wear my regular clothes throughout my pregnancy.
To glam up my look, I wore my suit with a silk cowl neck cami and statement earrings. I completed my look by marrying my suit with wine coloured shoes and faux fur stole. This is the perfect attire to stand out at your next 5 a 7!
We have sung the praises of Sumissura before and I, for one, am happy to do it again. Sumissura is an amazing online retailer that offers an array of clothing options for women of all sizes! More importantly, this online company will ALWAYS have your size because they custom make their clothing and do so at an affordable price compared to what typical custom suits cost. As a plus size woman it is often times difficult to find fashion forward business wear at a price that isn’t a king’s ransom.
Sumissura made the whole process really easy. From selecting the style of suit I wanted to, choosing the fabric then entering my measurements on their site was a breeze. They even have a video on the site that walks you through step by step in how to take your measurements properly so you can be sure you get a great fitting suit.
The inspiration for my suited and booted look came from the 80’s hit movie Wall Street (yo go google Gordon Gekko). I chose a navy grid patterned pant suit and paired it with a subtle purple check shirt (that I borrowed from the boys). I then added a belt to cinch in my waist and for a little something something I threw on this faux fur stole that I draped over my shoulder. And with that, I’m ready to broker mergers & acquisitions.
Now, you all already know that I LOVE a hot suit in a striking print, and Sumissura provided that in spades with this beautiful 2 piece suit!
This custom suit, deftly tailored to my exact measurements and specifications was ordered ONLINE and arrived in a matter of 2 – 3 weeks! I was able to select from a wide array of colours, fabrics and prints, as well as selecting the fit, and style of the jacket and trousers. The choices were many, and I have to say, I think the hardest part of the process for me was deciding on the print and style. I wanted one of everything! LOL In the end, I elected to go with a bold print in more subtle colours, and I have no regrets.
The key with ordering this type of garment online is getting those measurements right, and Sumissura was fantastic at assisting their clients with this process. They provide videos to demonstrate each measurement you need to take, you just can’t do it alone. So this is when you need to make that fashion911 call to your girls for back up!
Since I know that if I’m not careful, I can easily be lost in a suit due to my frame being a bit more on the slight side, I went with a high-waisted straight –leg style for the pants. I often go for ankle length pants so that I don’t have to worry about the length, but when you go custom, you don’t have to worry baby! So I went for a longer line for the pants to accentuate the length of my legs!
With respect to the jacket, I went for a double-breasted style as this has been a huge trend this season, and decided to belt it to further highlight my small waistline.
I love the versatility that I will have with both the jacket and the pants, and I can’t wait to mix and match them with other pieces in my wardrobe (insert happy dance here!).
Now I’m ready to make them “money moves“because I look like a million bucks!
I use to find it hard to find a suit to fit my frame properly without having that boxy-look. And then an amazing opportunity came up to work with Sumissura, a company that is dedicated to making customized shirts and suits. I always wanted to wear a fitted Tuxedo style suit just like Janelle Monae, so I decided to go for this fire-engine red one with black satin lapels.
When you order from Sumissura their system asks for numerous measurements from top to bottom, but when the suit arrives you’ll understand why they’re so precise with their measurements.
There are so many selections to choose from that you can spend hours looking for that perfect suit. One thing I loved about the Sumissura website is that it’s interactive and there are a few helpful videos to guide you through the process.
This time around I went for lady chic meets Alexis Carrington from Dynasty. For those who don’t know about that Google it, as it’s an epic 80’s TV series.
For this look I didn’t want to wear a shirt underneath the jacket so I opted for a lace black bra-let and added a black wrap belt to accentuate my waist. Still keeping things classy and chic I wore a pair of suede black pumps and added rhinestone clips to the shoes just to add a little extra dazzle on top.
Slicked my hair down and put a necklace on, so now the only thing missing is a cigar.
Tah tah for now,
The Fab Four
