Totally Trenched Out

Trench coats are all the rage this season. Oversized, colourful, I’m here for all of it. Now, you already know that I’m all about clothes that can be worn in multiple ways and for a variety of occasions. While shopping with my cousin (shout out to Eva!), I fell for a trench coat and was convinced that I could wear it as a dress. Despite the fact that, both she and the salesperson looked at me as if I had lost my mind, I decided that I would give it a shot. Anyway, take a peek at how it turned out, and you decide!
Trench By Day
Given the temperamental weather we’ve been having, we should all have a fierce coat handy. I found this beauty at none other than H&M. This collarless trench coat comes in navy and beige.
I kept this look more casual by pairing my jacket with distressed jeans and a light top. The jeans were a DIY project (shout out to all the DIYers sharing their knowledge on YouTube!). My jeans actually ripped at the knee (after a tumble… don’t ask lol) so I figured that I might as well continue the destruction!
If you’ve been visiting this space for a little bit (shout out to you for checking us out!! :)), then you already know that I’m all about pops of color. That’s precisely what I did by finishing off my outfit with purple fringe sandals and teal clutch. If you’re not about the high heels life, these silver flats work just as well!

My plus size friends can recreate this look with the following trench, jeans and cami!
Trench By Night
I have to admit that when I bought this coat, I was primarily interested in wearing it as a dress. My obsession with transforming this jacket into a dress came to life after I fell in love with a trench dress from Max Mara.
Now, if you plan on recreating this BEWARE! I added a skinny belt but also have a safety pin securing the jacket from the inside. I love how the wind picks up the draping but if the “dress” is not secured properly, you may end up offering a free show to the world! I know it was cute when Marilyn did it, but you might end up in jail for indecent exposure!! LOL For a more permanent solution, you can have snap buttons installed.
Since I wanted the dress to be center stage, I accessorized with silver bib necklace, earrings and bangles, along with my favorite strappy sandals.

Anyone else willing to rock a jacket as a dress or am I alone on this?
Happy Hump Day friends!

~Nancy
