We Wear Short Shorts
The temperature is rising and so are the hemlines! The ladies of Fab Four Fashion could not wait to break out their summer best and the “best” includes shorts. Watch as they don their favourite pairs of shorts and remix them to suit their unique styles and bodies.
When I laid eyes on this geo print crochet trimmed roper I thought to myself, “Maybe this is the time to revisit shorts.” I haven’t worn shorts in about 10-15 years so as you can imagine that I was a little hesitant in donning a pair.
The only thing I would change with this romper is the sleeves. On a really hot summer day long sleeves are the last thing I want. Otherwise this romper is gnarly!
To complete my look, I paired my boho romper with orange espadrilles and my Mum’s funky leather hobo bag.
I love rocking my shorts and I believe that there is pair of shorts that can fit every body. For myself I love rocking shorts that are more flair and not too tight at the bottom. For this short look, I wore tropical patterned shorts which I got from ASOS last December on sale for $10. Can I get a Hell Yeah! I love that they fit my curvy frame very well. The only thing I did to them is I had my tailor unroll the big border at the bottom to make them longer. I wanted my shorts to be appropriate and not “Batty Riders” LOL all my Caribbean queens outs there know what I’m talking about!
To top my shorts look, I wore a light blue jeans shirt with my wooden yellow and green bracelets which I scored at H&M. With my fedora hat and my lovey Straw Miss Sixty purse which I inherited from my Fab Four Partner Leslie yeah yeah, I’m ready for a nice roof top BBQ party!

For My Tall Sisters:
When the heat of summer can be felt in the breeze and temperatures begin to rise toward that magical point; 30 degrees Celsius, I can’t wait to jump into my short shorts (sorry mommy:-)! I scooped these shorts up on sale at Zara earlier this year and though I knew they would need some alterations when I bought them, knew equally that they would fit perfectly once tailored. The problem I sometimes have with shorts is that they often stick out on either side at the hem. As I am not well endowed in the hind quarters, I end up looking a bit triangular. So, I had my trusted tailor take in the side and hem a bit and voila, they fit like a dream!
I also picked up the blouse from Zara (ya, I know, it’s obvious I can’t get enough of this store), and it too needed a bit of a nip and tuck. Since I simply ADORED the dramatic print, I figured with a little snip here and a bit of creativity I could make it work.
I had my fabu tailor take the sleeves from not quite full length (these long arms of mine) to three-quarter length and chose to wear the blouse backwards. This was easily done, needing only a small fastening added to the original front of the blouse to refine the look. I then paired the whole look with some Michael Kors snake-print platform sandals and my trusty shades and I’m ready for some Sangria on a terrace with friends or brunch with the girls!
It’s that time of the year ladies: get your waxing appointments because it’s time to show our toned gams! There’s no better way to do that then with our short shorts! Now, us tall ladies have to be careful with our short selections. While shorts are a great option for us since we have legs for days (bonus 123,232 to being tall!), short shorts can look scandalous real quick, especially if you’re like me and rock your shorts with heels.
When I get my shorts from “regular” stores, I tend to go for shorts with a cuff, then I simply undo it to add a couple of inches. This allows me to have more control over how much leg I want to show. The other alternative is the same as we already do with pants: if you fall in love with shorts that are just too short for your liking, look at the hemline to see if you can take it down. I got these black shorts from Zara a couple of seasons ago and I love them because they fit perfectly and are so versatile.
I paired my shorts with this awesome printed kimono. Since my shorts were on the quite short side, I decided to balance it off with a top that offered more coverage. Lately, I’ve been a fan of wearing shorts with longer tops, like blazers, shirts or like here, with kimonos. I feel that it offers some sophistication to the look. With that said, as the mercury continues to rise, you will definitely see me with shorts and a camisole! But I promise that I will keep it classy… or I’ll try! lol
Show us how you rock your shorts! And make sure to check out our other spaces for additional pictures!
