Gail’s Look

Not only is Wilsons Leather known for crafting quality leather jackets and accessories but they also offer stylish faux fur wonders like this beauty I’m wearing.

gt-edited-img_1844

gt-edited-img_1818

I fell in love with this faux fur vest on sight.  It’s a 3/4 length beauty with pockets and a faux leather belt perfect for cinching in my waist or leaving it tied in the back as I did.

This vest would also make for a great layering piece over a jacket or coat!  I love my when clothing options come with built in versatility!

gt-edited-img_1764

I paired this faux fur wonder with a dotted sheer turtleneck that fits like a glove.

I completed my look with gold accessories and polka dot pumps.

Don’t be fooled by the furs that I got…I’m still I’m still Leslie from the block!! LOL Don’t be fooled into thinking that Wilson’s Leather only does leather goods. They are about that fur/faux fur life as well! This GORGEOUS ecru coloured poncho  called to me from cyber space  and I immediately knew that I had a winner!

lt-edited-img_3254

This look called to my inner Diana Ross! I love the winter white as  it just oozes luxury and wearing the poncho as a top, exposing one shoulder, adds a little sexiness to the overall look.

lt-edited-img_3286

I love mixing textures, so paring my poncho with a faux leather, midi pencil skirt seemed perfectly apropos.

To accessorize my look, I just had to add in some gold accents. These dangly tassel earings and my “Wonder Woman cuff of power” took this look to the next level! Of course it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t add a little print which came in the form of these hot leopard print pumps.

So watch out Diana, I’m coming to turn you “up-side-down”! (just kidding, I LOVE Diana Ross!!!)

Judy’s Look

js-edited-img_1964

Last year I had a blast working with Wilson’s Leather, as I loved the biker leather jacket I got from them. This year we had the chance to work with them again, but this time around I opted for a more fitted leather coat.

js-edited-img_2127

What I love about this coat is that it fits me very well. There are 2 scuba insert panels on each side that make it more fitted to my body, and most importantly it doesn’t feel snug when I zip it all the way up.

js-edited-img_1982

This coat is perfect for the beginning of fall or early spring, and it’s a great addition to my wardrobe. The coat is very thin and soft so you don’t feel bulky in it.

For this look I went with a vibrant printed chevron dress, with a classic pair of mustard pumps and my Wilson’s Leather coat.

While Wilson Leather doesn’t yet provide tall options (notice how I said ‘yet’? hint hint LOL), they do provide some very fashionable offerings. With that said, I – lady with the long limbs – chose this jacket for very specific reasons. Other than this jacket being simply gorgeous, I chose it because the sleeves did not have a zipper on the sleeve. Therefore, I was able to have my tailor let the hem down as much as possible such that the sleeve length work!

nd-edited-img_3041The other option I have is to extend the length on the sleeves. If you go digging in the crates, you will find a post here where I transformed an old dress into a brand new one by adding a leather band. I will repeat this by visiting my friends at Perfect Leather Goods to find the perfect fitting piece of leather to make the sleeves as long as I want to.

nd-edited-img_3000The color is rich, the basket weave pattern is cool, the wide collar, the slim fit need I say more?

I completed my look with some printed pants, a white asymmetric tube top and some orange pumps for a pop of color. This outfit will have me looking fly at my next brunch with the ladies!

The Fab Four

Hats Off to David Dunkley!

dsc_4200

dsc_4243

Ever put an outfit together and just feel like something is missing? That’s because something probably is! In a bygone era a gentile woman would not even think of leaving her home without first donning her bonnet; or spend hours at the milliners trying to find the perfect artfully sculpted headpiece to compliment her gown.  If you’re looking for THE exquisite hat or fascinator to cause a stir at your next event, one need look no further than David Dunkley!

Having studied with formal royal milliner to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, David’s creations have also graced the head of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.

David is an award winning designer and is also the official milliner of the Queen’s Plate.  As you can imagine, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are beyond excited to have had the chance to wear fascinators from David’s private collection when we walked the red carpet at the Nordstrom Opening Gala.  Join us as we chat fascinating fascinators and outstanding outfits!

Judy’s Look

dsc_3856

Wearing haute couture has always been a dream of mine, but when you actually get to wear haute couture on top of your head, it’s even better. Who said fascinators can’t be a strong statement piece, well let me tell you about Canadian hat designer David Dunkley.

dsc_4068

I had the extreme privilege of wearing one of the David Dunkley’s fascinators which was carefully crafted, and hand made by the visionary himself. My fascinator consists of black and white stripes, made out of “peau de soie” which is worn in the middle of the head, and at the back a few artfully placed bright pink ostrich feathers.

And what could be better than to wear such a striking piece to the official red carpet grand opening of the brand new Nordstrom store at the Toronto Eaton Centre. What a show stopper; this fascinator commends attention and yes, it is a veritable piece of art.

dsc_4023

Choosing an outfit to aptly compliment this skillfully designed fascinator was easy, as I had a vision of a black strapless bustier, with a long A-line satin white skirt with black polka dots. The mix of the stripes on the fascinator, and the polka-dot skirt blended so beautifully. To complete my look I wore a pair of long silver earrings and black pumps.

I’m ready to take the fashion world by storm.

Do you like to be a show stopper? Do you enjoy seeing eyes widen as they land on you? If you answered yes, then read on – David Dunkley is for you.

dsc_3776

This stunning piece of millinery is not for the faint of heart or those who like being incognito. The creator of this piece loved it so much that he retired this topper to his private collection. Can you blame him? It’s simply stunning. The skillfully crafted flowers are accentuated by black feathers to create this newspaper printed chef-d’oeuvre. I tried on many amazing pieces but my heart literally skipped a beat when the master milliner pulled the ONE from a secret back room.

dsc_3843

This gorgeous hat in classic black and white goes with pretty much anything. I chose to carry this color pallet to the rest of my outfit. The gorgeous dress that I am rocking is made of scuba material and hugs my figure right where I want it. The cut out adds just the right dose of sexiness. If you have a wedding, birthday or just want to exercise your right to be hot, you can RENT this beauty for the weekend. No need to commit and they will dry clean it for you!

Always needing a pop of color, I had to pull out my red lipstick.

Entering David Dunkley’s boutique is like stepping into a fanciful jewelry box where all the hats and fascinators on display shine bright like Harry Winston diamonds.  I have a particular obsession with hats so you can imagine that I felt as though I died and went to fascinator heaven.  I wanted to wear a fascinator that was utterly unique and feathers were an absolute requirement.  David of course, did not disappoint.

gt-reedited-dsc_3451

This fascinator not only had feathers but ombre feathers at that which culminated in a collection of silk flowers which frame my face beautifully.

dsc_3393

With a fanciful fascinator like this I went for a rather sedate outfit.  I opted for a simple black jumpsuit from my favourite online retailer, Eloquii along with silver pumps.

dsc_3328

I added a simple white jacket thrown over my shoulder “vogue editor” style.

ROYAL!! That is how I feel in this jawdroppingly stunning piece of millenary perfection created by the one and only David Dunkley, and this triple take” beauty of a dress from Fitzroy Boutique making me feel like a modern day Cinderella (post bippitty-boppitty-boo of course)!

While it is not often one finds me in a predominantly black outfit, when said outfit looks like this, colour be dammed!

dsc_3546

It’s all in the details. Mr. Dunkley (are we even sure  the Queen has not Knighted him yet because really, his hats are veritable pieces of artistry), has created the perfect blend of elegance, sophistication and a certain air of mystery in this striking black and silver head piece.  The addition of fine crystals to the floating veil and the delicate plumes add that extra touch of glamour that I love so much. In this outfit I feel like a modern day film noire femme fetale leaving a grimacing Bogey or Cary Grant wishing they never met me, yet thanking their lucky stars that they did! 😉

Now, what would a beautiful piece of millenary confection be without the perfect accompaniment? We love to find great Canadian boutiques, and Fitzroy Boutique is a gem! Not only do they have fantastic pieces that are perfect for any occasion, they also……

Then I go into grinning idiot mode as I try to find the quickest path with the least obstacles to get me the hell outta that store!LOL Well, ladies why purchase that $900 dress if you know you will never have a chance to wear it again. For $50 – $90 you can rent a gorgeous designer dress for a 4 day period, wear it, dance in it, be the envy of everyone in it, then return it to Fitzroy and NOT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DRY CLEANING IT! They take care of the dry cleaning for you!

This ostrich feather dress I’m rocking, designed and handmade in the 6ix by Canadian designer Marika Brose retails for $845! But with Fitzroy, you get the look for less with a 4 day rental for $75!

dsc_3607

I kept the rest of my look simple to leave centre stage so to my elegant fascinator and stylish dress. I wore simple crystal earrings and necklace and wore my pewter coloured cage sandals and cuff bracelet to add a little edginess.

And with that, this Cinderella was ready to slip that shoe on her prince’s foot (size 13:-) What? 13’s my lucky number and I did say I was a modern-day Cinderella!(wink-wink)

GRP IMG_8073

Judy’s LookJS IMG_8521

Old Navy is a store filled with hidden treasures. When I look at their window displays, I’m never quite sure they’ll have something for me, but as soon as I step inside I always find one or two pieces just waiting for me to grab lol .
JS IMG_8472

A few months ago I went there looking for sweat pants.  Well imagine my surprise, when I saw this fantastic dark blue and beige printed coat; my jaw dropped I couldn’t believe it. I grabbed it up immediately and tried it on on the spot.  Then I proceeded to the cash register and the sales associate informed me that this new coat was on sale for $29. Can I get an Amen for this awesome price! (you know that this sister loves a good sale!LOL)
JS IMG_8550

I love the fact that this coat is so versatile and that I can create multiple looks with it.  Another plus is that the jacket comes from XS to XXL, so all my sisters can benefit!

For this look I went for a professional and tailored feel.  I wore a dressy white shirt with a black tie, and a simple black leather pencil skirt because I wanted the emphasis to be on the jacket. To complete my look, I wore dark red wine coloured suede pumps and added a dark red wine coloured clutch. Lastly, to bring an extra touch of pizazz to my coat, because I’m fancy like that, I added a fur collar.

Spring is finally here ladies, and while I’m not one to adhere to the old adage of wearing white only between the prescribed period of Easter and Labour Day, I gotta admit, I do relish whipping out an all-white outfit, not just for an all white party (I do love a good fete though), but just for a day, or night out with my besties!

LT IMG_8652

We love when we can find retailers that cater to women of all sizes, and we cannot forget the affordable choices. I love to rock a high-low outfit, where I pair a more expensive piece with a piece at a lower price point and Old Navy offers some amazing affordable options.

LT IMG_8777

I wanted a look that said effortless cool and this outfit says that to me. I love this sweater which adds some texture to the look. I wanted it to have an oversized feel to it, so I took an “XL” and slouched it over one shoulder. Then I slid into these skinny jeans and threw on a printed blazer to add a little print to the look.

LT IMG_8620

To accessorize my look, I added a gold belt, gold earrings and bangles, and these gorgeous gold sandals that I simply adore.

So hears to Old Navy, keeping stylish looks affordable and fun for women of all body types.

Casually chic at an affordable price perfectly describes Old Navy to me.  Here again, we have another retailer that offers fun affordable clothes for everyone no matter our size.  So basically, Old Navy’s got your back!GT IMG_8441

I love this particular look.  It’s easy breezy and super comfortable while still looking pulled together.

The starting point for creating this look were these printed drawstring pants.  I love the print and cut of these pants and of course they’re incredibly comfortable.

To keep cool spring breezes at bay, while out and about, I added this denim jacket.  I rolled up the sleeves just to “juge” the look a little bit. LOLGT IMG_8434

GT IMG_8447

For a pop of colour I added these faux suede yellow heels from ASOS that are beyond comfy.  I’m now ready to take on some serious shopping!GT IMG_8425

Old Navy is one of those brands that can always surprise you. They have the foundational piece game down pack but every now and then, they will have the perfectly printed romper or pants that you just have to have.

ND IMG_8266Also, I love that they are incorporating pieces for the petite, plus and tall women. I dream of the day where this will be a norm for every single retailer, but until then, I will cherish the ones that do!

ND IMG_8277

With all this said, this look is centered around these cool joggers which I got from the men’s department! And I love ’em! I already know that I will dress them up and down to my heart’s content!

For this look, I kept it casual cute with a simple tank top, biker jacket and high heels for my daily dose of a colourful pop.

The 70s! The era of the Jackson Five, flared pants, the Jeffersons and funk music. Fashion-wise, the 70s was an era that brought bold colour and daring prints to another level. This era is back in full force on the runways this season and we just couldn’t resist creating the perfect post to showcase these looks. Leslie’s Look

I am so feeling the 70s as some of you may recall from the post I did on this awesome trend seen here!! I love the muted colours the funky prints and of course the mega mini’s. This is one of the trends I was more than eager to jump into for our Fab Four fall foray into this decades modern day inspirations.

IMG_0398 Edited Leslie

This dress speaks to me on so many levels. The mod-ish lines, the muted colours and print and, of course, the mega mini lenth that shows off my gams to perfection are all elements that drew me to this piece! I think every woman should know how to incorporate just the right amount of sexy into a look. Sometimes it’s wearing something figure hugging, sometimes showing a little decolletage, sometimes showing a little (or not so little), leg. I like trying to go for one of these characteristics in each outfit I put together, rather than incorporating them all into one look, and as you can see, my  legs got to take top billing for this look!

IMG_0475 Edited Leslie

To keep me warm on those cooler fall days, I paird this dress with one of my trusty sleeveless coats in a muted colour. It lends an effortless elegant yet relaxed feel to this look that I just love and adds a layer of warmth since, I gotta be real,  I am always cold!LOL  This piece is also great, since it can easily be remixed with so many other pieces in my wardrobe which is something I’m always looking for.

IMG_0412 Edited Leslie

Ladies, let me tell you, if there is only one thing you decide to really invest in this season, let it be a great neutral coloured, knee high boot! I have had these boots which I simply ADORE since 2000! You indeed read correctly; I bought them in 2000! Yes, ladies, I’ve had them for 15 years and am still rocking them! Now, admittedly, I don’t wear them every day and have taken good care of them, but talk about getting a tremendous return on investment! The colour is neutral enough to go with just about everything, and from one fall/winter season to the next, they continue to be a wardrobe staple!

So someone grab the record player…or should it be an eight-track player…and let’s get our 70’s groove on baby!!!!

70s looks dominated the runways for fall and I can certainly understand why.  Think Bianca Jagger’s cool white pants suit or Donna Summer’s sexy sequined outfits – now imagine these looks revamped for today’s sensibilities and you’ve got magic!

I went for a bold graphic striped print in the form of this dress as seen in so many runway shows for fall.  I just love the pattern and colour combination.  This dress is the ultimate in comfort and flows beautifully over my curves.  I paired this sleeveless dress with this faux leather jacket which works for the unpredictable weather found in fall.  In one day it can go from sunny and blue skies to over cast and breezy.

I‘ve always been a fan of 70’s trends, so it’s quite fitting that we decided to do a post about this era.  My 70s look is inspired by the hit show Charlie’s Angels. I wore my long sleeved dress with a tie-neck collar, and paired it with a faux fur vest to give a little extra oomph to my look.

IMG_0654 Edited Judy

I scored this dress two seasons ago at Suzy Shier at a great price. This dress has a 70’s inspired graphic pattern with colours like burnt orange, black and brown. To complete my look I wore my over the knee leather boots. I got these fabulous boots from Target last year from the Altuzzarra collection. Big feet women of the world, I know you understand me when I say the struggle is real, so when you find your shoe size on the shelf trust and believe you jump on it. LOL That was my story, I saw the last pair of  size 11 boots on the shelf and I pounced on them so fast I didn’t even look at the price tag.

IMG_0516 Edited Judy

Sadly, Target closed its doors a few months ago here in Canada, however I’m glad I was able to score these fabulous boots while they were here.

My look wouldn’t be complete without my Twiggy inspired sunglasses ( a gift from my little sister) and my signature red lipstick.

Nancy’s Look

¨I’m Foxy Cleopatra, and I’m a WHOLE lot of woman!¨ This single sentence takes me to a time when everything was grooovy! LOL The 70s comes with a slew of cult classics, timeless music and fashion that keeps on giving. I love how fashion from the 70s keeps on reappearing in different forms. This fall is no exception.

IMG_0942 Edited Nancy

For me, what’s most important is to prevent these blasts from the past from being too ¨costumey¨. What I mean by that is that, while the inspiration can clearly be seen, current cuts are a must. This is why I absolutely love this skirt. Pencil skirts are always a must and are flattering on all body types. The 70s influence came in the form of the stripes and the front slit. The colour combination is what actually first drew me to the skirt.

IMG_0841 Edited Nancy

I paired my skirt with a black ¨wrap top¨. I used quotations here because this, ¨top¨ is actually a draped open front cardigan that I am wearing as a top. Do we notice a trend here? Always staying to true to my ‘clothes-remixing’ self!

IMG_0833 Edited Nancy

The skirt is definitely the star of the outfit for me, however, these boots do get an honourable mention! I got them many moons ago at Long Tall Sally. I eyed them for what seemed like an eternity and bought them as soon as they were on sale (Shout out to Angelica, the most awesome LTS saleslady ever who kept her finger on the price pulse along with me!!!). They are chic and comfortable. What else could I ask for!

There are always a number of things to consider when choosing the perfect wedding outfit, but the setting is probably the most important. For this wedding look, I opted for a long, maxi dress. But long does NOT mean boring! The satin finish of this dress brings out the elegance while the pockets and print make it youthful and fun. The deep V ensures that a dash of sexy is provided!

This year again I’m fortunate and blessed to be invited to 4 different types of weddings. Today for my wedding flow post I’m wearing a dress that I would wear for a classy intimate wedding near a winery. I was inspired to create a vineyard meets Ascot Race day look.  I’ve always loved seeing women all dressed up with their fascinator hats and white gloves.

I wore my A-line silky polka dot black and white dress which I bought a few moons ago at H&M.  This dress is simple yet elegant all at the same time. Leslie’s Look

To quote Beyoncé: “all the single ladies, all the single ladies…” Have you been invited to a friend’s wedding at which they’ve promised to introduce you to that wonderful friend they supposedly have that you’ve just never happened to have met? Or that cousin coming in town from (fill in the blank) that would just be perfect for you? In that case, I say you need to up the sexy factor of that wedding reception outfit!

For the wedding ceremony, if it is separate and especially if it’s being conducted in a house of worship, be it a church, synagogue, mosque, I know you know what I mean, I would recommend choosing an outfit that is more on the conservative side. HOWEVER, the wedding reception is code for “PARTY”! An excellent excuse to be glammed up with a touch of sexy just in case that “friend of a friend” or that elusive cousin turns out to be a hottie!

So for my wedding reception look I went for an elegant silver sequin above the knee dress. The cap sleeve and looser fit keep it from being club gear and the silver sequins help you to light up the room! The pièce de résistance though is the dramatic back. Yes ladies, the daring open back of this dress is the epitome of sexy.  It takes the dress from a simple shift style to va-va-voom!

Since this dress is a show stopper, I kept the accessories a bit more on the quiet side with a simple bracelet and  stylish earrings. I brought in a tiny bit of funky with these multi-coloured peep toe pumps and a not quite tamed up-do!

And just like that I’m ready to raise a glass in celebration to the bride and groom and drink a toast to new “friends” and “elusive cousins”!:-)
