Another day, another opportunity to glam up with the squad!

I seem to really be gravitating towards florals this spring. While it is the “typical” spring thing, this is quite new for me…. And I’m loving it! This little number jumped on my screen as I was perusing the H&M website (side bar, did you hear that H&M will soon offer online shopping?!!??!! It took them long enough but I for one am VERY GLAD!)ND Edited IMG_8945

But the print wasn’t the only thing that attracted me to this little number. The fit! Oh the fit. It’s just perfect. The strategically placed seams allow this dress to hug you in all the right places. While it’s fitted it’s very comfortable and sucks you right in. This is really a thing of sewing magic.ND Edited IMG_8966

I decided to allow the dress to play center stage so I paired it with very minimal accessories. I had to break out the birdcage tho LOL. I added these purple pumps because, well, pop of color. You know how I do. LOL I was thinking about my Mom with this pairing because, as she would say, “it goes together”. It’s one of those things that’s hard to explain, but when it goes, it just goes!ND Edited IMG_9068

Spring is upon us, and it’s time to bring out our lovely floral pattern skirts and dresses and enjoy the beautiful weather. One thing my girls and I enjoy during spring and summer, is going to high tea.

For a high tea event, I’m always torn between wearing a nice flowing dress, a fitted wiggle dress, or a nice skirt. This time my heart settled on this beautiful skirt that I stumble upon on Instagram when I was perusing through @iambeauticurve’s page. I clicked on the pic to get the deets of her outfit, and yeah baby I too was able to score this 2 piece yellow flower patterned skirt and crop top.

JS Edited IMG_9340

That same night I visited the Forever 21 store closest to my home. I must admit, I wasn’t too crazy about the complete coordinate set on me so I only went with the skirt. I was very impressed with the material and love the sheen it has to it.  It’s a great fit on me and I love the fact that it is high waisted and flares out.  Besides, yellow compliments my skin tone very well and I’m a sucker for a floral pattern.  A little confession: I was never a huge fan of floral patterns but once I found the right floral pattern I changed my mind.
JS Edited IMG_9349

For our high tea outing, I wore my new skirt with my off white high collar top which I also found at Forever 21 a few months ago.  To complete my look I wore my gold triangle earrings and my cream and gold pumps by Ivanka Trump.

Ok now I’m ready to go, I just hope they will have my favorite high tea delicacies, which are biscuits, jam and crème fraiche.

I so love going for a proper English afternoon tea! My sis and I started trying afternoon tea at various hotels many years ago when we were still living in Montreal, and the trend has continued ever since!

Of course, it goes without saying that an important part of these outings is the outfit. I love wearing fun , flirty, feminine pieces for these high tea activities; makes me feel like a proper English lady.

LT Edited IMG_9542

I am still in love with all looks mod inspired, so this dress appealed to my retro sensibilities. The cool print and soft sheen immediately caught my attention when I clapped eyes on it on the salesperson in the store; and the short length that shows of my gams to perfection, made for a real winner! I love this style of lose fitted dress as you never need worry about those dreaded panty lines and no need to loosen anything after a big meal;-) To me, the key to the success of this style of dress is to ensure the areas that are supposed to be fitted (i.e. the shoulders and bust), fit well. If they are too big, it will look more sack like (no one wants that!)

LT Edited IMG_9489

There’s no doubt that this dress was the star of my look, all I had to add was some nude pumps, a little sparkle at my ears and wrist and I was ready for my finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream!

I really created this outfit around these mellow yellow pumps!  They are oh so comfortable, I could literally wear them for hours.  They’re faux suede with an ankle strap and I just love the pointed toe.
GT Edited IMG_8903

Moving up from the shoes is this gloriously feminine skirt.  I love its fullness and the high low situation as well.  The material is neoprene which helps give the skirt that puffy fullness I mentioned earlier.

Another nod to femininity is this black and white off the shoulder top.  Those of you who follow our blog regularly will recognize this top.  I just love having items in my wardrobe I can reach for over and over again.

It’s our Anniversary

Grp Edited IMG_0581

Do you know what today is?  It’s our Anniversary – come on let’s sing Tony Toni Toné’s song together. Yes, it’s a celebration!  The ladies of Fab Four Fashion are celebrating their 1st year in the blogging world.  Time goes by so fast. It was just a year ago we were rookies trying to make our mark in the fashion world and most importantly spread our message of body positivity.

Grp Edited MG_0530

God, Hard work and dedication got us there and our intention is to continue giving you amazing weekly posts.

Well, today we’ve reached a significant milestone and we are certainly celebrating the best way we know how. Aside from popping champagne, we put together a nice post to show you our celebration outfits and we hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your constant love and support.

Yours Truly,

Gail, Judy, Leslie, Nancy (a.k.a. The Fab Four)

I cannot believe that we started this blog a year ago now (technically more than a year) and it has been a whirlwind of a ride! I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to share our message of body positivity with you and showcase some great designers, collections and pieces that work for all body-types. Thank you for following us and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as well!

Since it’s a celebration, we just had to paint the town red! And really, what’s a celebration without some hot looks to help us get into the partying mood! My look, is a little glam, a little girlie and a touch of fun. Since I have a slim silhouette, I always love wearing pieces that give me some extra curves. This tutu skirt does just that, lending to the girlie feel as well as enhancing my curves.

LT Edited IMG_0433

I just had to have a little bling, so this sequin top that I scooped up from Top Shop added just the right touch of sparkle. To this I threw on a leather quilted bomber jacket to add some contrast to the girlie, glitziness of the outfit and add a little edge.

LT Edited IMG_0397

Last, but certainly not least, was my finishing touch. These striped pumps from ASOS were the perfect accent to round out my look. And with that I’m ready to eat, drink and be merry….oh yea, and dance till I just can’t dance no more!;-)

A year has come an gone and it feels like just yesterday that Judy, Leslie, Nancy and I came together to create a place where every woman could feel represented.  It has been such a blessing to work alongside these amazing women!

GT Edited IMG_0105

This blog has meant the world to me.  It has given me the opportunity to really express myself in a way I’ve never been able to before.  I’ve always loved fashion.  I remember taping episodes of Fashion Television on the family vcr (I’m probably aging myself by mentioning this LOL) and watching them over and over again.  The issue always became how can I incorporate some of the awesome ready to wear looks and find them in my size!  When that became near impossible I just basically gave up and began making black pants and a top my uniform.  Happily, those days are long gone!

GT Edited IMG_0207

GT Edited IMG_0122

For this look I went with sexy, gothic and edgy all rolled into one.  As you probably know I’m a little gaga for faux fur so of course my blog anniversary look had to incorporate this material somehow.

Given that my look is all black I wanted to play with different textures and materials to make the look more interesting.  So I’m working a faux fur in the form of this 3/4 length jacket and faux leather in the form of this pencil skirt.

GT Edited IMG_0130

To complete my look I went with these eye popping yellow ankle strap pumps and this glorious studded Alexander Wang clutch which converts to a messenger style handbag.   I just love when my accessories can do double duty!  With that I’m off to celebrate good times!

Yes we made it! 1 year might not be a lot for some, but I truly cherish this milestone and couldn’t be more proud to be ¼ of this amazing quartet. So to celebrate our 1 year anniversary I decided to part ways with my usual dress attire and wear an all-white suit.

JS Edited IMG_0269

Let me talk to you about my white suit. I fell in love with it when I saw it on the Eloquii site.  As the avid sales searcher that I am, I bided my time and scored this fabulous suit on sale a few months ago.  The price went down so much around the holidays that I bought it in black as well! This falls in line with the notion that a lady always needs to have a nice suit in her clothing arsenal.

JS Edited IMG_0329

When I saw this suit I had a vision of wearing it with a little sexy black bralet or bustier to take it to the next level. I’m talking Solange epic all white cape wedding picture that would break the internet LOL. Well one is rarely disappointed with Eloquii and can more often than not, expect great quality. The cape fit me perfectly and I don’t have to worry about the sleeves of the blazer being too tight, which is often the case for me when I wear a blazer.

JS Edited IMG_0341

The pants are a good fit and I love that they are high waisted which is a plus when you want to pair it with a crop top. Speaking of crop tops, I chose to wear a sparkly black and silver number which I premiered on our New Year’s Eve post.  To complete my look I wore some black and silver earrings and black pumps and I was ready for the celebration!

This milestone is so amazing to me. We have put in a lot of effort to make this blog thrive and I’m happy to celebrate its “birth” with the women I love. Beyond what you see on this platform, our sisterhood has truly flourished through all our ups and downs. I am quite excited to see what the future holds for us.

And I cannot go on without acknowledging everyone that has supported us on this journey. Of course the firsts on my list of thank yous go out to my hubby and my baby girl! And of course there are all our families and friends and extended friends whom we have met through this platform! To all our readers, frequent and sporadic: thank you. Thank you for the likes and the comments and the reposts and for just being awesome!

ND Edited IMG_9898

So, before I get too emo, let’s get into this outfit shall we! This outfit is 100% me because it is rather simple but accessorized to the fullest! LOL The star is, without a doubt, the skirt. It’s made with a great scuba material which hugs my curves oh so well! It can be worn in so many ways and settings (yes, I will make this work for my business casual office environment!). I love the contrasting striped border – it’s all in the details.

ND Edited IMG_9882

Then, to dress up my look, I went with a slew of cool and bold accessories. First, we have this tasseled necklace. I wore it backward to add a little fun in the back (by now you know that I wear a bunch of things backwards LOL). Then we have this cuff, I love the leather straps because it adds just a hint of toughness to the look. We have this ring that I totally fell head over heels for and the belt, just to define my waist.

With this I was ready to toast with my girls to celebrate one year, wishing for many more!

Sumissura

group IMG_4510

Quality foundation pieces are an integral part of any woman’s closet. They are literally the building blocks of a well rounded wardrobe; and a beautifully tailored, made to measure shirt is an excellent element to elevate that simple casual look, add flare to that business suit, or polish to those weekend boyfriend jeans.

Sumissura has the magic touch when it comes to made to measure, stylish shirts for women of all sizes! Pick your favourite style of shirt, favourite print and fabric, input your measurements and you’re on your way! See what the ladies of Fab Four cooked up when we stepped into the proverbial Sumissura kitchen!

Judy’s Look

I always get excited when I hear about Gail’s latest finds! This time she struck gold with this company that makes customized shirts and suits.

js IMG_3724

When I went to their website I was stunned to see the extent of the variety and selection they had to offer. I knew Fab Four Fashion and Summissura would make magic together!

Designing my shirt took some time because I just couldn’t make up my mind (too many choices!LOL) I was so impressed with the way the customization process is set out.  Once you’ve made a selection, style of shirt for example, you then see it reflected on the screen, like dressing up a mannequin (how cool is that?!).  The customizable features are exhaustive. You can choose the style of sleeve, fit, hemline, collar style, cuff style, the fabric and little added accents to make your shirt oh so unique.

js IMG_3697

Oh and let me tell you about their on point and accurate sizing system.  All you need do is enter a few of your measurements along with your height and you are then provided with an approximate calculation of your full measurements. I must say they are quite accurate. One added bonus is that if you are curvy and have a larger bust or a little tummy, this is factored in when designing the shirt to ensure great lines and a comfortable, tailor made fit.

After an extensive deliberation between 3 styles, I elected to go with this nice slim fit, long sleeve button-down shirt with a polka dot pattern in brown, yellow and grey. I must say I am very happy with the end result.

I can wear it to work, to brunch with the girls, or dress it up or down to suit a myriad of situations. For this look I went for corporate chic. I paired it with my faux leather midi pleated skirt and my camel coat. To finish off my look I wore my mustard pumps and a brown snakeskin clutch.

js IMG_3576

Bottom line, Sumissura is the business! It is well worth the expense when you consider that it’s made to measure. Their customized shirts start from around $49.00 which is quite impressive. I can’t say enough how impressed I was with their service. I give them top rating for their customization process as well. Even with a waiting period of a few weeks from order to delivery, it was well worth the wait. Next up Fab Four Fashion does Sumissura suits! LOL

Until next time!

Nancy’s Look

Ladies. Can we talk about how hard it is to find the perfect fitting shirt?!! And extra small automatically implies that the sleeve lengths cannot possibly exceed 20 inches. And the bust! Oh the bust! If the bust don’t fit, you must acquit!! LOL.

nd IMG_4247

I don’t think that I need to mention that I’m always on a mission to find shirts with the right sleeve length. Also, I have an arched back, so my shirts often look like they are too big. Then add the bust and I always have that pesky gap which needs to be secured with a safety pin (because fashion tape isn’t actually sufficient!)

nd IMG_4292

Sumissura came to solve all these headaches! Their design tool is fool proof and so easy to use. You can input the obvious (measurements, style and fabric) but I was most impressed with the attention to detail. You can choose the colors of the buttons, thread or button-holes, whether you want epaulettes or not, you can even add a monogram if you want to!

nd IMG_4412

I decided to go with the polka dot shirt (a.k.a fugu) in slim fit, rounded hemline, classic collar, no pockets and shoulder straps. It’s a nice twist on a white shirt and can be worn in a million different ways: with a wide array of colors, solids or prints, for the office or for play. Today, I styled it for play by pairing it with simple jeans and a cape and studded pumps. I am truly happy with my shirt and certainly look forward to ordering many more!

lt IMG_3765

I can honestly attest to the fact that I’ve never had a shirt that actually fit my shoulders, arms and waist properly without a quick trip to the tailor. But this simple striped shirt with flare from Sumissura hit the mark very well. Since it was my first time ordering from this company, I elected to go with a simple shirt that would get a lot of wear. The only extra touch I added was the French cuff sleeves that I just love!

lt IMG_3867

The Sumissura web site is very easy to navigate.  I was able to select whether I wanted a fitted shirt or relaxed fit, breast pockets, epaulettes, French cuffs, monogram, style of collar, fabric and print and this is not even an exhaustive list. The options are seemingly endless! Needless to say, I spent a lot of time trying to “design” my shirt. What is really great is that when I made a selection on the site I could immediately see what my selection would look like (you gotta love technology). This really puts you in the driver’s seat (or should I say designer’s seat).

lt IMG_3791

Next came breaking out the tape measure. Here’s where the magic really happens if you ask me. Make sure you put in your exact measurements. The system will provide a “guestimate” and from there you can make adjustments if needed. I had  a tricky time with this part as my guestimate was quite a bit off. But I know Gail’s was bang on so, it really just depends on the person. The moral of the story is, ensure your measurements are correct. If you run into difficulty, there is a trusty “Need Help” option that you can use to get all the guidance you need.

Then came the styling! I knew I wanted this to be a shirt that to be worn with one of my suits. And since, as most of you know, I’m a print junkie, I was more than happy to slip on my check print suit and striped pumps to turn the dial up on this look. To finish off the look, I threw on this brightly coloured overcoat to make sure I’m seen!

Gail’s Look

A well tailored shirt is one of the cornerstones of any woman’s closet – a wardrobe staple they’ll reach for over and over again.  Custom shirts offered by Sumissura equals quality, longevity and classic styles thgt can be dressed up or down.

Once again, we discovered a company that understands that women come in all shapes and sizes and thus they make their clothing available to all!

Sumissura not only offers great shirt and blouse styles but custom suits and coats as well and the fabric selections are wide and varied.

gt IMG_3482

The process of choosing the fabric and style of shirt was really quite easy and fun.  One got to choose not only the fabric to be used but the style of the collar, whether the shirt was loose or slim fitting.  One also got to select whether the shirt came with breast pockets or shoulder details and cuff details.  Once your selections were chosen they would be immediately shown on a mannequin so as to give the client an idea of what the shirt would look like given the choices you made!

gt IMG_3427

Once you’ve made all your selections for your shirt you are then prompted to enter your measurements.  The Sumissura site walks you through that whole process making it quite easy and their turnaround time for a custom shirt was lightening quick too!

gt IMG_3391

I decided to go for a slim fit blue check shirt and indulged my girly girl side by pairing it with this lovely black neoprene high low skirt.    I added gray pumps and a light blue tote to round out my look.

White Plus Size Jeans: Day and Night

White Jeans Collage

White jeans, that dreaded item of clothing that full figured women are supposed to stay away from.  I even bought into that notion.  Well, I say nuts to that!  If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, fashion is supposed to be fun and so taking some risks isn’t going to affect the space time continuum.  So, watch as I remix my white skinny jeans for day time play and night slay.

Day Time Chic

For my day time look I wanted to play with different proportions.  I paired my white skinny jeans with a more “boxy” top in fire engine red.

gIMG_3183

gIMG_3160

These jeans have a great deal of stretch which makes them incredibly comfortable and the boxy top ends at just the right spot to offer a little coverage to the tummy area.

I finished the look with a hot pink purse, Tiffany necklace, silver wedges and my trusty aviator sunglasses.

Night Time Sizzle

For my night time look, I took it up a notch.  I swapped out my red top for a lace one.  Lace happens to be one of the big summer trends this year.  As I said before, fashion risks are a-okay and rules are meant to be broken.  Gone are the days of plus size women hiding in baggy clothes.

gIMG_3516

I exchanged my silver wedges for royal blue stilettos for a pop of colour.  Last but not least I added dangly earrings and a black & silver box clutch.

gIMG_3392

If you’re a little hesistant in only wearing a bra underneath the lace top you could add a body suit instead for a little more coverage.
