Fall with Eshakti Part 1

grp-edited-img_1568

We have sung the praises of eShakti in previous posts seen here and here and we will continue to do so!  We love when manufacturers and retailers provide fashionable options for women of all sizes – now that’s fashion democracy at its best!  Founded back in 1999 by B.G. Krishnan, eShakti strives to offer fun fashion forward styles which can all be customized for your body at an affordable price.  Now that’s a match made in fashion heaven!

When it comes to fashion for all and every fit, Eshakti is here, and I couldn’t be happier to collaborate again with them. This time around I chose this simple mustard fit and flare, knee length dress.

I chose to get my dress customized so I can get the waist adjusted to my body, and to get the fit and flare look I was going for.

js-edited-img_0602
I don’t know how many times I can stress the fact that I tend to gravitate towards pieces of clothing that I can wear in so many different ways. This dress is so versatile I can wear it in the winter with a pair of over the knee boots, and can wear it in spring and summer with sandals.

js-edited-img_0626

Last but not least, for this look I paired my dress with my printed blue and beige coat that I scored at Old Navy, on sale a few months ago. I added a fur collar just because everything looks better with fur, and I added my leopard print stilettos.

Fashion democracy at its best indeed. When you see how seamlessly eShakti seems to navigate the fashion-for-all world, I really have to wonder if most retailers will eventually follow suit. I for one sure hope so!

image

In order to ensure perfect fit, I entered my measurements and once again, my dress fit me to a tee. The real bonus Tall Chicas is that, if the picture shows the dress being knee length, and you want it to be knee length, then it will BE knee length. What a novel idea lol.

image

The dress comes with a belt that matches its beautiful geometric print, but I swapped it for a belt that was in my closet (the grays ended up going quite well!) just to have that contrast to further accentuate my waist. To keep the chills at bay, I added this camel colored maxi jacket which takes the look from nice to boss in 2.5!

The neckline, sleeve and length of the dress can all be modified. How will you rock it?

Plus size girls, you can get that very same dress in your very own size! If you want to pair it with a jacket as I did, check out the one worn by our very own Gail here.

Gail’s Look

This look is my ode to military chic.  When I spied this gorgeous army green dress on the eShakti site – it was love at first sight!  The first thing that popped into my head was that En Vogue remake of “He’s the boogie woogie hip hop boy of Company B!” LOL  Man, I was ready to fox trot!

gt-edited-img_0789

The dress is made of a comfy breathable cotton material that has a hint of stretch.  I love the faux knot detail at the neck too.  Once again, eShakti has those wonderful pockets in this dress design that I just love.

gt-edited-img_0876

Next came this camel coloured coat, in petite plus, with gold button -again giving off that military air!

gt-edited-img_0814

I completed my look with patterned pumps and gold embossed purse – now that’s a  salute to style…see what I did just there lol

When perusing through the pages of Elle Canada magazine I stumbled across an article featuring some of the hot trends seen on the runway for fall. One of those hot trends lit a fire in my blood and I was determined to recreate it with my own little twist. The trend  was wearing pink and  yellow together.

lt-edited-img_1076

This gorgeous dress from eShakti, which of course me being me, I turned into a skirt is dupioni silk with a high low detail and beautiful front pleat. I’ve been noticing a lot  of pink creeping into my wardrobe of late, but when it comes in the form of a beautiful dress like this, who can resist. Image

What I love about this dress is that I could so easily where it to a wedding or special event, then to expand the “usefulness” of this piece for us ladies on a budget, you can style it with a top or jacket to wear it dinner, brunch or for drinks with the crew.

lt-edited-img_1040

I rocked it with this ¾ sleeve shirt in a vibrant yellow and decided to accentuate my waist with a wide brown belt. Since I love adding a little print whenever I can, I threw on my leopard print pumps, and for a little extra dash of colour (because I was feeling like being bold) I rocked this wine-red clutch to hold my bits and bobs.

And just like that, I transformed this dress from “occasion” wear to everyday gear!

This summer season got me super excited for colorful outfits and off the shoulder tops, just like this super cute one with a printed palm tree design.  What I love most about this top is that it’s made out of a stretchy material, so when I move my arms around I don’t feel like I’m in a straightjacket!LOL

JS Edited IMG_0246

This outfit wouldn’t be complete without this purple midi skirt that I inherited from my mommy. The skirt and top together are the perfect combination of feminine and flirty, especially when I’m walking around and there is a breath of wind and it catches my top just so (oh yeah baby I be feeling myself:). I’ve been seeing a lot of different styles of off the shoulder tops in stores and online, and I hope this trend is here to stay for this season and the next!

The other important element of this outfit is my latest shoe purchase. I bought my first pair of Chinese Laundry sandals and so far I’m pretty impressed. They are quite colorful. I love the thin braided pink strap that goes across my foot, and the back of the sandal and heel are made out of several colors. In order to keep my feet from sliding forward, I wore one of my trusty insoles and I’m good money.

This season, the name of the game is to stay and look cool. I managed to do that with the cutest top. I actually was exiting the store when I saw it out of the corner of my eye and just snatched it up. Didn’t even try it on. I grabbed it and ran (to the cash, not out of the store.. lol).

ND IMG_0767

I have come to the realization that I have a short torso – yes, my height consists of 90% legs LOL. With that realization, I have come to enjoy tops that I would have previously assumed would be too short for me. This is one of them. I love the eye catching print and the fit is spot on.

ND IMG_0760

The top has adjustable straps to ensure the best fit. It has a cool exposed zipper and despite the fact that it is very fitted at the body, there is enough room at the bust such that my boobs weren’t squashed. It has a sweet sweetheart neckline and is peplum. I wanted to further accentuate my waist so I added a gold belt.

Wanting my top to play center stage, I kept the rest of my fit simple with this fitted midi pencil skirt and some strappy heels.

It would not be summer without a little glamour, so I decided to put a little funkiness into my summer wardrobe. The focus of this outfit, if you haven’t figured it out, is the vest!

LT Edited IMG_0591

This vest absolutely took my breath away when I first laid eyes on it. The colour, style and cool “architecture” of this vest is the type of thing I always look for in my clothing.

It’s that perfect piece for me, as it makes me look more curvy (i.e. fills me out a little:-) and it speaks to that edginess I like to incorporate into my looks.

LT Edited IMG_0415

I wanted the vest to be the focus of my look, but the close runner up are these gorgeous shoes I scooped up at Nine West. I don’t go into this store often enough, but these shoes have convinced me to put Nine West on my regular scouting rotation!LOL Print, colour, and a high heel? Oh, I was in love!

To complete my look, I jumped into this bright white, split front skirt, and threw on my bedazzling jewelry and I was good to go.

Summer time here I come!

I paired the bodysuit with this equally gorgeous horizontal stripe skirt from Eloquii.  I’ve sung the praises of Eloquii many times and I will continue to do so.  They just design beautiful contemporary plus size clothing and even better, they always have a great sale coming up so you can scoop up that certain item you’ve been eyeing at a discount!  This skirt is made of a polyester – spandex mix so it hugs my curves beautifully!

I love wearing summer dresses when the mercury rises above that 25 degree mark. They are the perfect  piece to where to allow the warm summer breezes to help cool you down on a hot day, and give you some breathability.

LT IMG_3529

This African print dress is one of my favourites to pull on on a hot day. The cotton material allows me to stay cool, and the flared skirt gives me maximum movement. I love this style of dress as it gives me a beautiful silhouette and gives us women the freedom of wearing any style of undergarments we like. If you want to wear something to prevent the dreaded thigh chaffing, this is a perfect piece!

LT IMG_3525

Accessorising this look was a synch. You  have the option of dressing it up or down depending on your mood! I wanted to dress it up a bit so I went for bold jewelry and high heeled pumps. Yet another advantage of this dress and the beautiful print, one has the option of wearing many different styles and colour of shoes.

And with that, I’m going to hit a rooftop party with the crew!

Summer is the time to bust out the lovely colors in your wardrobe, and to be more fashionably bold with your style, without having to wear a winter coat.  Let me talk to you about a cute summery look that can take me to brunch and transition well into an after work social networking event.

For one thing, I’m always attracted to bright colors, they tend to uplift my spirit and brighten up my days LOL. If you know me by now, you know that I love wearing outfits that can transition from day to night.  For this look I went for bright and light with a touch of pop art.

JS IMG_4189

I wore this nice fitted yellow skirt that I got on sale a few weeks ago thru Eloquii.  Little confession though, in order to get the skirt fitted to my body, I had to get a size down. The skirt is the perfect, mid-length that comes in a scuba material which fits nicely.

I scored this yellow, pink, and blue printed top for $6 at old navy yay.  For that price I couldn’t leave it behind. The perfect summer coat for me is a cool jean jacket which can be thrown on over a summer dress, or rocked with a jumper and you are good to go. I was always on the lookout for the perfect jean jacket, and couldn’t find it until I went to Old Navy and found this one in a light blue denim. This jacket is the business! I love the light blue color and that it’s a bit stretchy so that I can actually wear a sweater underneath and not feel constricted.  Trust me, it’s the worst feeling being virtually trap in your clothes LOL.

JS IMG_4249

To add a dash of pop art to my outfit I wore my white frame sunglasses, a silver cubed necklace, my famous Kashmir clutch frame with the incomparable Grace Jones and a pair of blush pumps, and I’m ready to brighten your day while I take over the 6ix.

On any given day, you will catch me in jeans or in a jumpsuit; but every now and then, I like to break out a sweet and girly dress. This dress hits the mark on all accounts. In a not so distant past, you would never catch me wearing florals… Yet, just in the past couple of months, I’ve worn florals over, over and over again. Go figure!

ND IMG_3794

This dress is just adorable. It screams easy, breezy and beautiful. The material is lightweight and makes it the perfect piece on a hot summer day. The top part has suttle stiches which does wonders for our figure. It has a nice adjustable cross back along with a sweetheart neckline. To make this dress even more perfect, it has pockets!

ND IMG_3785

This is yet another piece that can be dressed up or down. I plan on wearing it with some cute lace up flats, but that’s not the route I took here! I decided to dress it up by wearing my dress with fushia pumps. I added a belt to define my waist and the right amount of bling around my neck.

Coordinates were a hot thing last year, and I dove into this trend head first, but only recently pulled this little number out of my closet. LT Edited IMG_6108

I wanted to add a pop of colour that would leave a lasting impression on those retinas, so I pulled out my neon green coat perfect for keeping away what’s left of the winter chill, but bright enough to ensure that you get seen. This coat is not for the faint of heart or for those preferring to blend in! It’s for the woman that is not afraid to stand out in a crowd!

Accessorizing this look was a synch. Black and white goes with just about everything, so I decided to add a little more print to this look in the form of these snake print colouful pumps. Sumissura

group IMG_4510

Quality foundation pieces are an integral part of any woman’s closet. They are literally the building blocks of a well rounded wardrobe; and a beautifully tailored, made to measure shirt is an excellent element to elevate that simple casual look, add flare to that business suit, or polish to those weekend boyfriend jeans.

Sumissura has the magic touch when it comes to made to measure, stylish shirts for women of all sizes! Pick your favourite style of shirt, favourite print and fabric, input your measurements and you’re on your way! See what the ladies of Fab Four cooked up when we stepped into the proverbial Sumissura kitchen!

group IMG_4478

Judy’s Look

I always get excited when I hear about Gail’s latest finds! This time she struck gold with this company that makes customized shirts and suits.

js IMG_3724

When I went to their website I was stunned to see the extent of the variety and selection they had to offer. I knew Fab Four Fashion and Summissura would make magic together!

Designing my shirt took some time because I just couldn’t make up my mind (too many choices!LOL) I was so impressed with the way the customization process is set out.  Once you’ve made a selection, style of shirt for example, you then see it reflected on the screen, like dressing up a mannequin (how cool is that?!).  The customizable features are exhaustive. You can choose the style of sleeve, fit, hemline, collar style, cuff style, the fabric and little added accents to make your shirt oh so unique.

js IMG_3697

Oh and let me tell you about their on point and accurate sizing system.  All you need do is enter a few of your measurements along with your height and you are then provided with an approximate calculation of your full measurements. I must say they are quite accurate. One added bonus is that if you are curvy and have a larger bust or a little tummy, this is factored in when designing the shirt to ensure great lines and a comfortable, tailor made fit.

After an extensive deliberation between 3 styles, I elected to go with this nice slim fit, long sleeve button-down shirt with a polka dot pattern in brown, yellow and grey. I must say I am very happy with the end result.

I can wear it to work, to brunch with the girls, or dress it up or down to suit a myriad of situations. For this look I went for corporate chic. I paired it with my faux leather midi pleated skirt and my camel coat. To finish off my look I wore my mustard pumps and a brown snakeskin clutch.

js IMG_3576

Bottom line, Sumissura is the business! It is well worth the expense when you consider that it’s made to measure. Their customized shirts start from around $49.00 which is quite impressive. I can’t say enough how impressed I was with their service. I give them top rating for their customization process as well. Even with a waiting period of a few weeks from order to delivery, it was well worth the wait. Next up Fab Four Fashion does Sumissura suits! LOL

Until next time!

Nancy’s Look

Ladies. Can we talk about how hard it is to find the perfect fitting shirt?!! And extra small automatically implies that the sleeve lengths cannot possibly exceed 20 inches. And the bust! Oh the bust! If the bust don’t fit, you must acquit!! LOL.

nd IMG_4247

I don’t think that I need to mention that I’m always on a mission to find shirts with the right sleeve length. Also, I have an arched back, so my shirts often look like they are too big. Then add the bust and I always have that pesky gap which needs to be secured with a safety pin (because fashion tape isn’t actually sufficient!)

nd IMG_4292

Sumissura came to solve all these headaches! Their design tool is fool proof and so easy to use. You can input the obvious (measurements, style and fabric) but I was most impressed with the attention to detail. You can choose the colors of the buttons, thread or button-holes, whether you want epaulettes or not, you can even add a monogram if you want to!

nd IMG_4412

I decided to go with the polka dot shirt (a.k.a fugu) in slim fit, rounded hemline, classic collar, no pockets and shoulder straps. It’s a nice twist on a white shirt and can be worn in a million different ways: with a wide array of colors, solids or prints, for the office or for play. Today, I styled it for play by pairing it with simple jeans and a cape and studded pumps. I am truly happy with my shirt and certainly look forward to ordering many more!

lt IMG_3765

I can honestly attest to the fact that I’ve never had a shirt that actually fit my shoulders, arms and waist properly without a quick trip to the tailor. But this simple striped shirt with flare from Sumissura hit the mark very well. Since it was my first time ordering from this company, I elected to go with a simple shirt that would get a lot of wear. The only extra touch I added was the French cuff sleeves that I just love!

lt IMG_3867

The Sumissura web site is very easy to navigate.  I was able to select whether I wanted a fitted shirt or relaxed fit, breast pockets, epaulettes, French cuffs, monogram, style of collar, fabric and print and this is not even an exhaustive list. The options are seemingly endless! Needless to say, I spent a lot of time trying to “design” my shirt. What is really great is that when I made a selection on the site I could immediately see what my selection would look like (you gotta love technology). This really puts you in the driver’s seat (or should I say designer’s seat).

lt IMG_3791

Next came breaking out the tape measure. Here’s where the magic really happens if you ask me. Make sure you put in your exact measurements. The system will provide a “guestimate” and from there you can make adjustments if needed. I had  a tricky time with this part as my guestimate was quite a bit off. But I know Gail’s was bang on so, it really just depends on the person. The moral of the story is, ensure your measurements are correct. If you run into difficulty, there is a trusty “Need Help” option that you can use to get all the guidance you need.

Then came the styling! I knew I wanted this to be a shirt that to be worn with one of my suits. And since, as most of you know, I’m a print junkie, I was more than happy to slip on my check print suit and striped pumps to turn the dial up on this look. To finish off the look, I threw on this brightly coloured overcoat to make sure I’m seen!

A well tailored shirt is one of the cornerstones of any woman’s closet – a wardrobe staple they’ll reach for over and over again.  Custom shirts offered by Sumissura equals quality, longevity and classic styles thgt can be dressed up or down.

Once again, we discovered a company that understands that women come in all shapes and sizes and thus they make their clothing available to all!

Sumissura not only offers great shirt and blouse styles but custom suits and coats as well and the fabric selections are wide and varied.

gt IMG_3482

The process of choosing the fabric and style of shirt was really quite easy and fun.  One got to choose not only the fabric to be used but the style of the collar, whether the shirt was loose or slim fitting.  One also got to select whether the shirt came with breast pockets or shoulder details and cuff details.  Once your selections were chosen they would be immediately shown on a mannequin so as to give the client an idea of what the shirt would look like given the choices you made!

gt IMG_3427

Once you’ve made all your selections for your shirt you are then prompted to enter your measurements.  The Sumissura site walks you through that whole process making it quite easy and their turnaround time for a custom shirt was lightening quick too!

gt IMG_3391

I decided to go for a slim fit blue check shirt and indulged my girly girl side by pairing it with this lovely black neoprene high low skirt.    I added gray pumps and a light blue tote to round out my look.

White jeans, that dreaded item of clothing that full figured women are supposed to stay away from.  I even bought into that notion.  Well, I say nuts to that!  If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, fashion is supposed to be fun and so taking some risks isn’t going to affect the space time continuum.  So, watch as I remix my white skinny jeans for day time play and night slay.

Day Time Chic

For my day time look I wanted to play with different proportions.  I paired my white skinny jeans with a more “boxy” top in fire engine red.

gIMG_3160

These jeans have a great deal of stretch which makes them incredibly comfortable and the boxy top ends at just the right spot to offer a little coverage to the tummy area.

gIMG_3319

I finished the look with a hot pink purse, Tiffany necklace, silver wedges and my trusty aviator sunglasses.

Night Time Sizzle

For my night time look, I took it up a notch.  I swapped out my red top for a lace one.  Lace happens to be one of the big summer trends this year.  As I said before, fashion risks are a-okay and rules are meant to be broken.  Gone are the days of plus size women hiding in baggy clothes.

gIMG_3516

I exchanged my silver wedges for royal blue stilettos for a pop of colour.  Last but not least I added dangly earrings and a black & silver box clutch.

If you’re a little hesistant in only wearing a bra underneath the lace top you could add a body suit instead for a little more coverage.

So, what fashion risks will you take on this summer?  Holla back and remember sharing is caring.  Feel free to share this post on FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest!

Spring Has Sprung

real feat

Spring has finally sprung! Those elusive days of summer that at once seemed like an impossible dream; a cruel mirage in our winter desert, are now becoming our dream come true. Our apologies for the dramatics, but this is truly how Canadians feel when spring finally begins to bloom!

While we waited with baited breath to feel  that first hint of spring  in the air, the Fab Four have been dreaming of their pastels n sandals n prints, oh my! Though it may not yet be time for us to break out the short-shorts and tank tops, it is definitely time for lighter jackets and fewer layers. In celebration of the first days of spring, we decided it was high time we shrug off our winter mantles and take to the streets, catch some rays and snap some pics of what we like to wear for spring!

Gail’s Look

Spring has definitely sprung and I am here for it!  For my look, I wanted soft creamy colours juxtaposed (I love that word) against a vibrant colour.

GT Edited Spring IMG_8024

This pastel pink knee length coat offers just enough warmth against cool spring breezes.

GT Edited Spring 4 IMG_8068

The saturated colour of this tank top spoke to me and I just had to have it.  I paired it with this sweet powder blue faux leather skirt.

G Edited Spring 3 IMG_8063

For extra oomph and pizazz I added this chunky statement necklace and these striped pumps from Zara et voila, my look is complete!

Judy’s Look

Spring has finally arrived, can I get an AMEN! None of us thought we were going to see it this year. For me a great spring start gives me hope that a beautiful summer season will also be on its way.  I chose an outfit that consists of light colors,  you know, the usual shade of cream which is classy cut with a Judy twist that being MY SHOES!!

JS Edited Spring 2 IMG_8111

The top is a classic flowy cream top which works very well with my pants. This top offers great versatility cause I can wear it with so many things.

JS Edited Spring 3 - IMG_8133

I’m a sucker for printed pants and I’m always on the lookout for the perfect pair that will fit my curvy frame.  I scored these miraculous pants at the H&M store on 34th Street in New York City last year.

JS Edited Spring 4 - IMG_8160

So the background story on my shoes are that I bought them last month at Winners which is like a Marshall’s/TJ Maxx store.  I purchased them for $99. Fast forward few weeks later when I popped into another Winners store and saw the very same pair of shoes for $37!   I snatched those puppies up and returned the pair I bought for $100 bucks-game, set, match Judy, wwwhhhaaattt!

To complete my look I wore a classic cream trench coat which went perfectly with my outfit.

Leslie’s Look

Muahaha! Please excused the evil laugh, but I’ve had this beautiful powder blue gem of a coat squirreled away in my closet for the past couple of months, just biding my time until I found the right moment to reveal it to the world, and that time is finally upon us: SPRING! Sorry for the dramatics, but I’m just so deliriously happy! This pale piece of perfection is heavy enough to shield you from the cooler breezes that still linger in spring, yet light enough to wear when the temperatures hit the high teens (you know you’re Canadian when you’re excited about temperatures in the high teens “ay”?)!

This groovy LPD (i.e. little printed dress), I scooped up from Zara speaks to the retro girl in me. The silhouette, colours and print give it that 60’s /70’s vibe I love, and lucky for me, is a big trend right now. The shortness of the hemline notwithstanding (sorry Mommy), it is not a figure-hugging style of dress so you’ll feel less exposed. But come on ladies, those legs need to get that sun-kissed glow too so why not show them off in this fab flirty frock! And what with the high crew neck and three-quarter sleeves on this little number, you’re otherwise dressed quite demurely (umm, did anyone else see a sudden flash of light outside?)

LT Edited Spring 1 - IMG_7834

This vintage-vibe dress, paired with this powder blue coat with sleeves that are just a little short to lend to that retro feel, is the perfect combination. The shoes, a lovely nude-pink colour, compliment the look since they are more neutral, while the yellow clutch provides a punch of colour that plays up the yellow in the dress.

Colour, print, heels…I would say these are the perfect ingredients for any look this spring and I just love how this simple recipe comes together to create this fun spring look!

Nancy’s Look

I will echo the ladies sentiments and say yay! Spring is FINALLY here! After this gruesome winter, it was nice to finally be able to shed some layers. For my first skin baring outfit of the year, I donned printed overalls – or dungarees as they’re called across the pond. Side note, if you look at this post or this one, I clearly have a thing for jumpsuits! I just love them.

N - IMG_8237

I got these at Topshop a couple of seasons ago. Surprisingly, the length worked for me here, but the beauty of warmer temperatures is that you can get away with a shorter inseam and make these pass for crop pant length or pretend that they are meant to be 3/4!

N - IMG_8196

I wore my overalls with a lace tank top just to add texture and a light collarless, belted oversized coat.

N - IMG_8166

My look was completed with a slew of gold bangles, a cream snakeskin clutch which I got in London a million years ago. And to stay true to myself, I added a pop of color via my orange pumps.

Curvy girls, you can get in the dungarees action too with this option here.

What looks are you looking forward to rocking this spring?

My Black & White Story

Black and White Montage

Black and white is one of my fav colour combinations.  I know I’ve mentioned that before but it bares repeating.   So, when I came across some old re-runs of Charlie’s Angels I was inspired to recreate the cool 70’s vibe of police women television dramas like the Angels or Cagney & Lacey for day and night.  The two looks below also highlight the versatility of a great suit!

IMG_5291F

For my day time look I’ve paired my trusty black turtleneck with a white jacket and pants and funky wedge boots.

IMG_5304F

I love these Kady Fit pants by Eloquii as they make legs appear a little longer than they actually are and the fit is spot on.  One tip for my plus sized petite ladies, ankle pants are your friend!  I love them because I don’t need to have them hemmed they come that way already!  The icing on the cake is this hobo style handbag stolen borrowed from my Mom’s closet.  Thank you Mommy!

IMG_5460F

IMG_5535F

For night time, I upped the sexiness quotient by swapping out the turtle neck for a fitted tank top and leopard print pumps instead of my wedge boots.

IMG_7088F

I completed the look with gold jewelry, a playful clutch and Komono watch.
