Nancy’s Look

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet… and as much as we’d all rather be moving our dancing feet, some of us gotta go to work! Thankfully, this season allows us to do so in style.

ND IMG_9246

Summer to me is synonymous with color, color and more color. That’s why I had to work this skirt into my office chic look. I have made full use of it for play time but now it’s just what I needed to werk it at work. The scuba material gives this pencil skirt the best fit.

ND IMG_9265

To remain sexy and cool, I paired my skirt with a lace top. To wear lace at work or not to wear lace at work, that is the question! It all depends on your work environment. Mine is not the most conservative, but nonetheless, I always make sure that I wear it with a tank top that provides full coverage. The goal is always to look professional and classy while being comfortably you. Just rock whatever outfit will make you walk tall like you own the joint (even if you don’t actually own it… yet!).

ND IMG_9563

Since it’s summertime, I try to wear pieces that can easily take me from the boardroom to the bar. So swap your pumps for some lace up sandals, add some bling around your neck and enjoy that cocktail!

It’s 7:30 AM, it’s already 25 degrees out and you’re getting ready to head out to the office, but first, you gotta figure out what to wear! This task can be daunting, especially when you can’t just throw on shorts and a tee. My solution to the summer heat + work outfit dilemma is the flared skirt.

LT IMG_9071

For me, a flared skirt equals great ventilation!lol I need the air to flow around me to keep me cool and I love that feeling of freedom (no pants restricting my movements.

LT IMG_9095

This look was super-dooper simple. I went for a tone on tone mix rocking this purple pleather, sleevless top and a mauve flared midi skirt. The shoes I kept neutral and then threw on some cool accessories to jazz things up a little. This look also transitions extremely well into an after work happy hour event or a nice dinner out!

So bring on the heat, cause I got it beat baby!

As the temperature rises, maintaining that polished professional look can sometimes leave you wondering what to wear to work.  As you make your way to the office, it might be humid and sticky but once you arrive it’s as though you’ve been dropped in a freezer because the air conditioning is cranked all the way up to Antarctica temperatures!  To combat these two extreme scenarios I make sure to have layering pieces in my wardrobe.

GT Edited IMG_9698

For this summer office chic look I went with this 3/4 length jacket to guard me against the frigid ac temp.  Although this jacket is a feminine pink colour, it’s very tailored and sleek.

GT Edited IMG_9713

I then paired my jacket with this cotton (read breathable) dusty rose coloured tank and a cream coloured pencil skirt.  Both of these pieces work to keep me looking business chic but cool and comfy for those commutes to and from work via public transit.

To complete my look I added blushed coloured pumps (worn only at the office and NOT durig my commute as I wouldn’t survive LOL) and the tote purse to hold all my much needed items.  And voila, summer office chic at its best!

The office chic look is right up my alley. When summer comes around I’m ready to show up to show off.   For me an office chic look is when classic professional meets stylish fashionista. Some of my favorite office looks are dresses, pants and printed shirts. Having these essential items can easily allow you to transition from a day at the office to happy hour. Let me introduce you to my office chic look.

JS IMG_8638

For this look I went for my 3/4 olive high-waisted pants from ASOS . These pants are perfection, love how they hug my body. A high waist is just what I need to show off my hourglass figure. I don’t have to deal with the usual gap at the back when I sit, and the built in belt is just perfect. I have been looking for pants like this for a very long time so when I saw them online I couldn’t resist buying them, and I’m hopeful they’ll come out in many colors so I can purchase them all!

JS IMG_8816

Since we can now finally enjoy the nice weather, I decided to wear my high waist pants with a sleeveless high collar shirt. This shirt goes well with almost anything and I can easily put a sweater or simple jacket over it, and I’m good to go.

JS IMG_8761

To complete my cute office chic look, I paired my outfit with leopard print pumps by Sam Edelman, and just like that I’m ready to handle business at work than enjoy a nice cocktail at a cute spot for happy hour.

Fall Look Book Part 1

IMG_5640 Edited Group kiki

September is here, and for most children this means back to school, suited and booted in new clothes for the first day of classes! The ladies of Fab Four Fashion feel much the same way as they’ve been diligently re-working their wardrobes for fall.  Join them as they show you what they are loving and wearing for autumn 2015!

Nancy’s Look

It’s so hard to say goodbye to summer days (if you’re like me, you sang these words to Boy’s II Men’s song… LOL).  While I will miss the gorgeous weather, I’m really looking forward to rocking everything fall fashion.  This season has the best colors and structured pieces – oh how I love structured pieces.

Blog IMG_7567 Edited Nancy

Designers have had us salivating over fall trends since their presentation of their autumn/winter 2015 clothing lines this past spring. While some of these “trends” are really classics, it’s always cool to see how they’re re-interpreted them for the current season. For me, that’s the case with brocade.  We saw it with designers like Mary Katrantzou, the queen of prints; Simone Rocha and Givenchy.

IMG_7752 Edited Nancy

I purchased these pants many moons ago and love wearing them around this time of the year. I just loved the print on these cropped pants (for the record, these were actually are cropped and not just too short by default #tallgirldisclaimer lol). Black and gold will forever have an elegant feel to me.

IMG_7616 Edited Nancy

I paired my brocade pants with a crisp white shirt and some black booties. Since we know that it gets a little bit breezy this time of year, I had to add my leather bomber jacket. I really love the whole marriage of colours in this outfit and I felt that the jacket spiced up the look a bit.  And just like that, the fast approaching cooler temperature is a little less daunting.

Falling into cooler climes is not my idea of a good time. I just can’t get excited about cool breezes that rob your breath, chilly walks to the office and the thought of not being able to enjoy a sip of sangria on a terrace under the blazing sun at 8PM. BUT, I can totally  get down with the fall fashions that we get to rock when the mercury falls!

I must admit that I’ve been excited about fall fashions since I saw some of the trends that were hot for the season during fashion week this past spring and here is one of the looks I could not wait to don this season.

IMG_6421 Edited LT

Tie-neck blouses or sweaters were not something that I would typically wear. I usually verre toward funky and this is a more conservative style for me. However, when paired with this leopard print dress, the funk factor is noticeably multiplied as is the retro “sexy secretary” feel.

IMG_6640 Edited LT

To highlight my small waist (and lend a little more curve to my slim silhouette), I added this slim patent-leather belt to this ensemble. I have a long torso, so I like to wear my belts a little higher than my waist-line to make my legs look even longer than they already are!

IMG_6410 Edited LT

Now, to keep with the retro feel this outfit gives off, I went with these gorgeous burgundy platform pumps reminiscent of YSL and oh-la-la Dominique Deveaux is now in the building and ready to create her “dynasty”!

Judy’s Look

Fall is almost here, it’s inevitable, we just can’t avoid it, so if you are anything like me and love looking fly all year long, you adjust and make the best of this colourful season. My first fall lookbook outfit is inspired by menswear. Oh yay! I love a nice tall man that can kill-it in the style category, and many menswear pieces can transition well into women’s fashion. I often see women wearing nice menswear inspired suits that are tailored to their curvier frames. One item that I particularly love in menswear is a tie, which is always the first thing I look for when I see a man wearing a suit.

IMG_5830 reEdited Judy

As a child, my dad always asked me to help him adjust his tie (aww, fond family memories). I also remember having a little red leather tie as a child LOL. So, I guess it’s no real surprise that for this look I decided to go for a “comme les garcons” type of style which is a departure from the very feminine and sexy looks I’m often drawn to. I wore a printed yellow, blue, black and white cardigan, with this fabulous white shirt that I found with a built-in tie. I must say I was relieved to find this shirt because it fit the vision I had for this look perfectly. Also let me be honest, for a second, I really didn’t see myself being able to tie a tie LOL.

IMG_5994 Edited Judy

I scored this shirt while browsing through Forever 21 in the plus size section. I love that it’s not tight across my chest and not too big in the mid section. Another thing I like is that the shirt does not gape in the front across my boobs and I feel very comfortable in it. Trust me when I say the struggle is real to find a proper white shirt that fits my body.

IMG_6044 Edited Judy

To complete my look I wore my leather-look shorts to give me a cool, edgy feel. I had a vision of wearing a necklace under my tie and having it look as though it’s also built into the shirt. I must say, I love how my vision came to life. It just takes my outfit to another level. The last piece is my wonderful black patent oxford shoes which I scored at Forever 21 a few months ago, and surprisingly they are extremely comfortable and they don’t make my feet look big, which is always a plus.

Gail’s Look

Ah, the fresh cool fall breezes will soon be upon us.  I’ve always felt that come September it was time to re-jig my clothing wardrobe – particularly my work clothes so as to incorporate new items so I can refresh my look.  For me the month of September will always feel like back to school even though I’ve been out of school for some time.  I fondly remember that my sister and I made our Mother a little nuts when we INSISTED that we had to have a fresh new outfit for the first day of school!! Ah our poor long suffering Mommy! LOL

Ever since Pantone dubbed Marsala (aka wine red if you ask me LOL) as the “it colour” for 2015 I’ve been seeing it every where and I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon too…it really is a gorgeous colour.

LB1 - G - IMG_6799

These twill skinny Marsala coloured pants are fabulous.  These pants have some stretch to them so they’re very comfortable.  The cut and fit are really amazing and they hug me in all the right places and there isn’t that horrible gaping at the waist which is the usual problem I have with pants.

IMG_7089 Edited GT

I paired these pants with a printed tie-neck blouse, another hot look this season.  I’ve had this blouse for forever and I reach for it often.  It always pays to have great wardrobe staples you can reach for season after season.

IMG_7056 Edited GT

That is also the case for this pink duster.  Again, I’ve had it forever and have featured it in another post seen here on the blog.

To complete my look I wore nude coloured pumps, pearl earrings and my baby, my LV Trevi satchel.  I’m now ready for my first board meeting of the day!

Eshakti by Day

gr kiki IMG_6527

gr pose IMG_6479

You’ve already seen how we rocked our eShakti night time looks.  Now we’ll show you how we remixed the same pieces for a cool day time look.

Leslie’s Look

As I mentioned in our “eShakti by Night” post, I LOVE a garment that can be worn in several different ways and this dress from eShakti does this well. You’ve already seen how I would rock it by night, here’s how I would work this dress for day time.

l IMG_5696

This look is the epitome of effortless beauty. The dress is a show-stopper. The eye-catching red and white stripes offer a light heartedness to the look and the silver studded belt and black high-heeled sandals add the edginess that I just love.  But, I have a little confession to make…I meant to wear this dress with nude pumps instead of black sandals and somehow I messed things up between thought and execution (i.e. I forgot). I really like the idea of the line of the leg not being cut by a thick ankle strap with the hemline of the dress being so long and I love not being too matchy (everyone’s got their idiosyncrasies right?).  But either way, I still just LOVE this look!

l IMG_5707

The style and feel of this dress make it perfect for a summer’s day out.  And for those cooler days, which we seem to be having too many of in our fair city, you can throw on a denim jacket and still look pulled together and stylish. And the best part about this dress is it has pockets!!!!

l IMG_5650

Again I wore my awesome white tutu under the dress which I purchased from eShakti. I love how the tutu gives the skirt more fullness and quite honestly, makes me feel like a bit of a rock princess!

There are so many ways to wear this dress and not enough posts to show them all in. I know this will be a wardrobe piece that gets a lot of wear as I can rock it in so many different ways.  This look is carefree and fun with a touch of funky to keep my inner-experimentalist more than happy! eShakti you get two thumbs up from me.

Nancy’s Look

As I mentioned many times before, I wear many hats, and I need my clothes to do the same. Of course, some articles of clothing are trickier to dress up or down; but thankfully, this is not the case here.

n IMG_6238 (B)

In the previous post, I styled my dress for a night out or a rehearsal dinner. Although my preference and first inclination would be to rock this at a night time event, it was quite easy to turn this dress into a day look.

n IMG_6268

As soon as I saw the dress, I just pictured it with some edgy sandals. Therefore, I paired this little number with brown gladiators which combine beauty and comfort perfectly. With this, I channeled my inner goddess of war! LOL

IMG_6278 (B)

This dress is so beautiful that I let it play center stage with both look and was cautious to not over accessorize. It’s such an easy dress to pull off and a simple switch of shoes and accessories create a completely different feel. I would wear this to stroll through Martha’s Vineyard…. ok ok, more like Niagara-on-the-Lake, which is just as nice!! LOL

As the ladies have stated, we love when our clothing can do double duty.  So, for my day time look my inspiration was attending  a bridal shower.  I paired my sweet crimson coloured dress with a cotton candy pink pastel duster and nude stilettos.

g IMG_5822

g IMG_5919

Were I on vacation (say promenading through the streets of London), I could easily exchange my heels for ballet flats or  flat sandals and throw on a cropped jean vest or light summer weight sweater.

The finishing touches for my bridal shower look were a pearl necklace and rhinestone doubled studded spear earrings. Voila, I’m ready to celebrate with the bride to be!  Someone top up my champagne glass please! LOL

As I said before, I love clothes that I can wear and remix to create different looks. So for my day look I wore my beautiful black and white stripe eShakti dress and I added a light blue denim shirt on top. This is a perfect day look where I am using my dress as though it were a skirt.

I would most likely wear this look while on vacation strolling the streets of ROME or Paris. LOL Hey what can I say, this girl likes to travel in style.

j IMG_6108

To elevate my look I wore a pair of hot pink pumps for a pop of color, however I could have easily wore my outfit with some a cute pair of ballerina flats.

Spring Has Sprung

real feat

Spring has finally sprung! Those elusive days of summer that at once seemed like an impossible dream; a cruel mirage in our winter desert, are now becoming our dream come true. Our apologies for the dramatics, but this is truly how Canadians feel when spring finally begins to bloom!

gr IMG_7806

While we waited with baited breath to feel  that first hint of spring  in the air, the Fab Four have been dreaming of their pastels n sandals n prints, oh my! Though it may not yet be time for us to break out the short-shorts and tank tops, it is definitely time for lighter jackets and fewer layers. In celebration of the first days of spring, we decided it was high time we shrug off our winter mantles and take to the streets, catch some rays and snap some pics of what we like to wear for spring!

Gail’s Look

Spring has definitely sprung and I am here for it!  For my look, I wanted soft creamy colours juxtaposed (I love that word) against a vibrant colour.

Spring has finally arrived, can I get an AMEN! None of us thought we were going to see it this year. For me a great spring start gives me hope that a beautiful summer season will also be on its way.  I chose an outfit that consists of light colors,  you know, the usual shade of cream which is classy cut with a Judy twist that being MY SHOES!!

JS Edited Spring 2 IMG_8111

The top is a classic flowy cream top which works very well with my pants. This top offers great versatility cause I can wear it with so many things.

JS Edited Spring 3 - IMG_8133

I’m a sucker for printed pants and I’m always on the lookout for the perfect pair that will fit my curvy frame.  I scored these miraculous pants at the H&M store on 34th Street in New York City last year.

JS Edited Spring 4 - IMG_8160

So the background story on my shoes are that I bought them last month at Winners which is like a Marshall’s/TJ Maxx store.  I purchased them for $99. Fast forward few weeks later when I popped into another Winners store and saw the very same pair of shoes for $37!   I snatched those puppies up and returned the pair I bought for $100 bucks-game, set, match Judy, wwwhhhaaattt!

To complete my look I wore a classic cream trench coat which went perfectly with my outfit.

Muahaha! Please excused the evil laugh, but I’ve had this beautiful powder blue gem of a coat squirreled away in my closet for the past couple of months, just biding my time until I found the right moment to reveal it to the world, and that time is finally upon us: SPRING! Sorry for the dramatics, but I’m just so deliriously happy! This pale piece of perfection is heavy enough to shield you from the cooler breezes that still linger in spring, yet light enough to wear when the temperatures hit the high teens (you know you’re Canadian when you’re excited about temperatures in the high teens “ay”?)!

L - IMG_7977 - 2

This groovy LPD (i.e. little printed dress), I scooped up from Zara speaks to the retro girl in me. The silhouette, colours and print give it that 60’s /70’s vibe I love, and lucky for me, is a big trend right now. The shortness of the hemline notwithstanding (sorry Mommy), it is not a figure-hugging style of dress so you’ll feel less exposed. But come on ladies, those legs need to get that sun-kissed glow too so why not show them off in this fab flirty frock! And what with the high crew neck and three-quarter sleeves on this little number, you’re otherwise dressed quite demurely (umm, did anyone else see a sudden flash of light outside?)

LT Edited Spring 1 - IMG_7834

This vintage-vibe dress, paired with this powder blue coat with sleeves that are just a little short to lend to that retro feel, is the perfect combination. The shoes, a lovely nude-pink colour, compliment the look since they are more neutral, while the yellow clutch provides a punch of colour that plays up the yellow in the dress.

Colour, print, heels…I would say these are the perfect ingredients for any look this spring and I just love how this simple recipe comes together to create this fun spring look!

I will echo the ladies sentiments and say yay! Spring is FINALLY here! After this gruesome winter, it was nice to finally be able to shed some layers. For my first skin baring outfit of the year, I donned printed overalls – or dungarees as they’re called across the pond. Side note, if you look at this post or this one, I clearly have a thing for jumpsuits! I just love them.

N - IMG_8237

I got these at Topshop a couple of seasons ago. Surprisingly, the length worked for me here, but the beauty of warmer temperatures is that you can get away with a shorter inseam and make these pass for crop pant length or pretend that they are meant to be 3/4!

N - IMG_8196

I wore my overalls with a lace tank top just to add texture and a light collarless, belted oversized coat.

N - IMG_8166

My look was completed with a slew of gold bangles, a cream snakeskin clutch which I got in London a million years ago. And to stay true to myself, I added a pop of color via my orange pumps.
