Business Casual

GRP IMG_0009 (1)

What does Business Causal means to you? Well as per google, business casual means relating to or denoting a style of clothing that is less formal than traditional business wear, but is still intended to give a professional and businesslike impression.   For FabFour Fashion Business Casual means casually dressed with style and flare. LOL if you don’t believe it scroll down and see for yourself.GRP IMG_9862

Although I work in a rather corporate environment, thankfully we do have casual fridays where we employees have the pleasure of dressing down while still looking pulled together.GT IMG_0273

GT IMG_0358

The basis of my business casual look were these white jeans and the royal blue waterfall collar vest.  I find that the vest smartens up the outfit making the whole look seem very pulled together.GT IMG_0337

GT IMG_0390

I added my favourite made to measure check shirt from Sumissura.  I love where it hits me so that I don’t have to tuck it in but still look boardroom chic!  The finishing touch is my beloved Kate Spade bag.

ND IMG_0033I work in a corporate environment, so when we have meetings I definitely need to suit it up. But in general, our office dress code is very relaxed. Of course, regardless of the setting, I still have to do me and come correct!ND IMG_0219

I scored these amazing crop pants on J. Crew. The fit is just perfect and I just love the leather trim. I have to say a big thank you to the good folks at J. Crew for offering some tall options! This means that these pants were indeed meant to be crop… Tall women everywhere will understand LOL. Also, I don’t have the dreaded gaping at the waist, so no tailoring necessary!ND IMG_0191

Then I added this leather jacket that I am wearing as a top – by now, you all know that I live for multi purpose clothing! The jacket comes with hooks to allow you to secure the lapel and wear it as a top. I finished my look with my fuchsia pumps.

This look easily translates to after work play, but before then, gotta take care of bid-nass!ND IMG_9993

I have been fortunate to work in a place that allows their employees to wear business casual on Fridays but you already know your girl Judy still brings it LOL. I love that business casual attire allows you to still be dressy-professional but more laid back.JS IMG_9836

For me business casual is more of a khaki, polo or jeans, for my business casual look I opted for a simple stripey grey, blue, and orange shirt with my pleated black leather at the knee skirt. This look is still professional and quite cute for an after work outing with my Fab Four Fashion ladies.JS IMG_9770

To emphasize my stripe shirt I wore my suede dark Ivanka Trump pumps with my mix leather and suede dark wine clutch.JS IMG_9668

The infamous phrase “You should dress for the job you want, not the job you have” is a rule I like to live by.  So even when I’m doing casual looks, I still try to dress it up a notch. That’s definitely not to say that you won’t catch me in jeans, I love my dungarees, but I like a good business casual look.

LT IMG_9765

I’m still feeling that vintage vibe so I wanted to rock a look that made me feel it from head to toe. So I went with a look that makes me feel like I’d fit right into a modern day episode of the Jefferson’s! The tie neck blouse is perfect for the office and can give off that sexy secretary look and works well with a ton of other pieces in my wardrobe.

LT IMG_9796

For this look, I opted to pair my tie neck blouse with rust coloured culottes further emphasizing the throwback feel and these beige coloured boots that are in line with the simple colour palette and the overall look.

I kept the accessories to a minimum by wearing simple earrings and with that I’m ready for the office!

5 A 7

Grp Edited IMG_7080

Some people call it ‘happy hour’, we Montrealers call it ‘5 a 7’.  Bottom line, it’s the same thing, we just use different terms. Like the legendary Michael Jackson said “So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf and just enjoy yourself “. That is exactly what the ladies of Fab Four Fashion plan on doing after work with their killer day outfits that transition right into night.  So, without further ad0 sit back, relax, grab a drink and enjoy the post.

If you see me skipping around during a day at the office, then chances are that I will be getting together with my girls at the end of the day. LOL. That’s when we endulge in some yummy appies and delicious cocktails.
ND Edited IMG_8221

Thankfully, my work environment isn’t too conservative, so my day to night transition is rather simple. For example, during the day, I would rock my faux leather pleated skirt and button up with a blazer. As soon as the clock strikes five, I ditch the blazer and jazz up my look.ND Edited IMG_8195

Here, I added my drapey trench and accentuated my waist with a hairskin leopard print skinny belt. I brought a little bling with my necklace. Then added my mandatory pop of color with mustard pumps and lime clutch.

One thing I miss most about my hometown of Montreal is the Thursday evening 5 a 7 a.k.a. happy-hour to those of you not from Montreal.  It was a time to get together with my friends and head out to the latest hot spot “watering-hole” and chat, sip on some cocktails and maybe do a little two-step if the vibe was right.

Final LT Edited IMG_7488

Since these 5 a 7 always happened after work, we always had to pull out our cutest looks that meshed work and play. My look was all about colour and comfort. This dress rom H&M has that fantastic retro 70’s feel that I love so much, and is just perfect for both a day at the office and an evening on the town.LT Edited IMG_7175

I elected not to fasten the top most button of the dress so I could wear this gold cami underneath to add another layer to the look. Since I can easily get lost in loose fitting pieces, I added a belt to the look to highlight my waist and add more visual interest.LT Edited IMG_7196

To round out my look, I slipped my feet into these beautiful cream and black shoes from Aldo. I actually first caught sight of these babies on the Canadian daytime TV show “The Social” being worn by one of the hosts Melissa Grelo.  I just died when I saw them and I ran out to pick up a pair!

What I like to wear for a 5 a 7, is a nice dress that can transition well from the boardroom to a resto lounge after work. I tend to choose dresses that are comfortable and that don’t require too much work to make the leap into my after work adventures other than putting on a pair of pumps and freshening up my makeup.
JS Edited IMG_7723

I personally think that every woman should have these types of dresses in their wardrobe, because it is so cost effective when you consider that you can build 2 or 3 looks with one piece.  You can wear this dress as I did with a fashionable necklace, or layer it with a fitted blazer.
JS Edited IMG_7624

For this look I went for a fitted knee length grey dress, which works well with flats or heels and keeps you looking professional and cute. Our early spring weather has arrived, so I wore black stockings with my mini booties to keep away the chill in the air. Finally to seal the deal on my look I wore my leather and tweed jacket and my leather gloves.

And voila, I’m ready for a cocktail!

There’s nothing like getting together with friends after a hard day’s work.   As a former Montrealer, the Thursday 5 a 7 aka Happy Hour was the ideal day of the week and time frame to celebrate the fast approaching weekend while not being out too long since there is still one more day of work to knock out lol.

It’s ideal to have those pieces in your wardrobe that transition easily from day to night.  I just love having “double duty” clothing options in my closet.gt IMG_7832

gt IMG_7919

I  love this gray knee length dress.  It offers long sleeves for extra warmth if your office tends to be on the cold side.  It also works with a variety of jackets.  Here I chose to wear a houndstooth patterned coat but once in the office I could easily throw on a black tailored jacket and I’d be good to go.
gt IMG_7823

Once the work day is done, I’d ditch the jacket and would transition to wearing a little something sparkly at my neck.  This statement necklace does the trick beautifully.   With that, I’m ready for a well-earned glass of wine!GT Edited IMG_7960

It’s our Anniversary

Grp Edited IMG_0581

Do you know what today is?  It’s our Anniversary – come on let’s sing Tony Toni Toné’s song together. Yes, it’s a celebration!  The ladies of Fab Four Fashion are celebrating their 1st year in the blogging world.  Time goes by so fast. It was just a year ago we were rookies trying to make our mark in the fashion world and most importantly spread our message of body positivity.

Grp Edited MG_0530

God, Hard work and dedication got us there and our intention is to continue giving you amazing weekly posts.

Well, today we’ve reached a significant milestone and we are certainly celebrating the best way we know how. Aside from popping champagne, we put together a nice post to show you our celebration outfits and we hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for your constant love and support.

Yours Truly,

Gail, Judy, Leslie, Nancy (a.k.a. The Fab Four)

I cannot believe that we started this blog a year ago now (technically more than a year) and it has been a whirlwind of a ride! I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to share our message of body positivity with you and showcase some great designers, collections and pieces that work for all body-types. Thank you for following us and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as well!

Since it’s a celebration, we just had to paint the town red! And really, what’s a celebration without some hot looks to help us get into the partying mood! My look, is a little glam, a little girlie and a touch of fun. Since I have a slim silhouette, I always love wearing pieces that give me some extra curves. This tutu skirt does just that, lending to the girlie feel as well as enhancing my curves.

LT Edited IMG_0433

I just had to have a little bling, so this sequin top that I scooped up from Top Shop added just the right touch of sparkle. To this I threw on a leather quilted bomber jacket to add some contrast to the girlie, glitziness of the outfit and add a little edge.

LT Edited IMG_0397

Last, but certainly not least, was my finishing touch. These striped pumps from ASOS were the perfect accent to round out my look. And with that I’m ready to eat, drink and be merry….oh yea, and dance till I just can’t dance no more!;-)

A year has come an gone and it feels like just yesterday that Judy, Leslie, Nancy and I came together to create a place where every woman could feel represented.  It has been such a blessing to work alongside these amazing women!

GT Edited IMG_0105

This blog has meant the world to me.  It has given me the opportunity to really express myself in a way I’ve never been able to before.  I’ve always loved fashion.  I remember taping episodes of Fashion Television on the family vcr (I’m probably aging myself by mentioning this LOL) and watching them over and over again.  The issue always became how can I incorporate some of the awesome ready to wear looks and find them in my size!  When that became near impossible I just basically gave up and began making black pants and a top my uniform.  Happily, those days are long gone!

GT Edited IMG_0207

GT Edited IMG_0122

For this look I went with sexy, gothic and edgy all rolled into one.  As you probably know I’m a little gaga for faux fur so of course my blog anniversary look had to incorporate this material somehow.

Given that my look is all black I wanted to play with different textures and materials to make the look more interesting.  So I’m working a faux fur in the form of this 3/4 length jacket and faux leather in the form of this pencil skirt.

GT Edited IMG_0130

To complete my look I went with these eye popping yellow ankle strap pumps and this glorious studded Alexander Wang clutch which converts to a messenger style handbag.   I just love when my accessories can do double duty!  With that I’m off to celebrate good times!

Yes we made it! 1 year might not be a lot for some, but I truly cherish this milestone and couldn’t be more proud to be ¼ of this amazing quartet. So to celebrate our 1 year anniversary I decided to part ways with my usual dress attire and wear an all-white suit.

JS Edited IMG_0269

Let me talk to you about my white suit. I fell in love with it when I saw it on the Eloquii site.  As the avid sales searcher that I am, I bided my time and scored this fabulous suit on sale a few months ago.  The price went down so much around the holidays that I bought it in black as well! This falls in line with the notion that a lady always needs to have a nice suit in her clothing arsenal.

JS Edited IMG_0329

When I saw this suit I had a vision of wearing it with a little sexy black bralet or bustier to take it to the next level. I’m talking Solange epic all white cape wedding picture that would break the internet LOL. Well one is rarely disappointed with Eloquii and can more often than not, expect great quality. The cape fit me perfectly and I don’t have to worry about the sleeves of the blazer being too tight, which is often the case for me when I wear a blazer.

JS Edited IMG_0341

The pants are a good fit and I love that they are high waisted which is a plus when you want to pair it with a crop top. Speaking of crop tops, I chose to wear a sparkly black and silver number which I premiered on our New Year’s Eve post.  To complete my look I wore some black and silver earrings and black pumps and I was ready for the celebration!

This milestone is so amazing to me. We have put in a lot of effort to make this blog thrive and I’m happy to celebrate its “birth” with the women I love. Beyond what you see on this platform, our sisterhood has truly flourished through all our ups and downs. I am quite excited to see what the future holds for us.

ND Edited IMG_9972

And I cannot go on without acknowledging everyone that has supported us on this journey. Of course the firsts on my list of thank yous go out to my hubby and my baby girl! And of course there are all our families and friends and extended friends whom we have met through this platform! To all our readers, frequent and sporadic: thank you. Thank you for the likes and the comments and the reposts and for just being awesome!

ND Edited IMG_9898

So, before I get too emo, let’s get into this outfit shall we! This outfit is 100% me because it is rather simple but accessorized to the fullest! LOL The star is, without a doubt, the skirt. It’s made with a great scuba material which hugs my curves oh so well! It can be worn in so many ways and settings (yes, I will make this work for my business casual office environment!). I love the contrasting striped border – it’s all in the details.

ND Edited IMG_9882

Then, to dress up my look, I went with a slew of cool and bold accessories. First, we have this tasseled necklace. I wore it backward to add a little fun in the back (by now you know that I wear a bunch of things backwards LOL). Then we have this cuff, I love the leather straps because it adds just a hint of toughness to the look. We have this ring that I totally fell head over heels for and the belt, just to define my waist.

With this I was ready to toast with my girls to celebrate one year, wishing for many more!

Ringing In the New Year

GRP IMG_0776

The holiday party season just keeps on going and going! As much as Christmas has a special place in all of our hearts, New Year’s Eve is really the punctuation mark to the festive season. Like the big finale at the end of a great show! The cherry on top of that delicious ice cream Sunday or that final scene of the season finale of Scandal!lol NYE is when you want to let it all hang out and start the new year anew! You also may want to dance the night away, and should you elect to do so, you gotta do it in STYLE! Check out some looks that your Fab Four Fashion girls cooked up for you to ensure you make a splash for that big holiday finish!

LT IMG_9967

The name of my New Year’s Eve game was sparkle and shine! I wanted to turn up the heat with a look that would bring a little bling to the new year!

LT IMG_0110

Ladies, the one thing we all need to know about our bodies, is the part we like most (i.e. your best feature). Ask yourself, what do you feel comfortable showing off, or accentuating. Is it your tiny waist line, your voluptuous silhouette, that great bust line or those sculpted arms or back? Once you’ve narrowed that down, it’s a lot easier to select pieces to draw the focus to the area of your choice, rather than to the areas you’d prefer not to highlight.

LT IMG_1049

For my look, I wanted to draw the focus to my long legs, so I went for this mini sequins bodycon dress. You can’t miss the sparkle, but you can’t miss the gams either! I also love my back and this is another area where I like to show a little skin. So I went for this backless number that does the job oh so well!

LT IMG_0046

So ladies, your resolution for 2016 should be to figure out what your best feature is, if you don’t know already, and find pieces that make you shine bright like a diamond (not necessarily literally the way I’ve done)LOL!

Happy New Year everybody!!!!

New Years Eve is the time to celebrate with your friends and family and count the many blessings in your life. It is also the time to glam up and unleash your fierceness.

This year my NYE look is a “DYI” glam; allow me to break it down for you. I always wanted to wear a low cut dress, but since I was blessed with big boobs, low cut is not always a great option and in order to achieve this look I would have to invest in a whole lot of fashion tape LOL.  I have been eyeing this beautiful low cut forest green dress from Forever 21 for a while now, and it peaked my interest because of the low cut (of course) and my desire to try something new in the form of this shade of forest green. When I slipped it on I immediately fell in love, and while striking a pose in the fitting room, my vision of finding the perfect bralette to wear underneath came to life. I was determine to make this vision a reality.

JS IMG_9701

The dress fit great, but I wasn’t crazy about the below the knee length. I was also not a big fan of the split on each side of the  bottom part of the dress, however I was not worried because I knew that I would take it to my seamstress and have her fix it the way I wanted.  I was even happier to get the dress for under $50.

JS IMG_9646

My next mission was to find the bralette to wear underneath. I perused through a couple of stores with no luck, but in the end my favorite online retailer came to the rescue YAY! “VIVA ASOS”!  I went to the sale’s section and there it was, just waiting for me, this gorgeous black sequins bralette! I did my happy dance when it turned out to be on sale for the sweet price of $22.  My goal was to get a wicked outfit for less than $100 and I did. The last piece, I must admit, I splurged on though. This faux fur coat that I got from Eloquii is perfect to ring in the new year in style. Yeah, I could have done without it but, I just couldn’t resist this ¾ sleeve faux fur jewel of a coat, and I know I will most certainly use it again. I must say I am thoroughly pleased with the final result of the complete look, and so relieved that my vision came to life in such fine form. With all the alterations, my dress fit me perfectly, it’s very sexy but also very chic and the black sequins bralette raises the glam factor to a 10/10.

With my NYE look completed I’m ready to take the New Year by storm and to continue to explore my fashion sense.

Nancy’s Look

My look consisted of gold, glam and grace! Based on my height, I often describe myself as statuesque (I borrowed the term from a fellow tall lady who decided to change her perspective from seeing herself as “lanky” to “statuesque”… It’s all in the way you perceive yourself right?) So for my NYE’s look, I was inspired by an actual statue: the Oscar statuette! Ok… Not really. LOL But with this dress and all the gold that I was sporting, we playfully referred to me as the Oscar the entire day of the shoot.

ND IMG_0171

This column dress is made specifically with the tall woman in mind. I practically did a backflip as soon as I laid eyes on it! As stated in our segment, I was rocking 4″ heels, and my dress still touched the ground! How often does that happen? And the color, oh the color! It’s so rich and compliments the hue of my skin oh so well. It had me feeling like I was covered in liquid gold. The dress has a lot of stretch to it, so don’t be afraid of going down one size: I went with my usual size and ended up taking it to the tailor for adjustment  and now it fits perfectly!

ND IMG_0731

Then there is the décolletage, oh the décolletage! The dress boasts a deep V in the front and in the back. So ladies, you have to get creative in securing the “girls” and to avoid a wardrobe malfunction! I went with a deep U-plunge bra which is seamless, so it won’t cause any unwanted bulges. Alternatively, using some good ol’ tape will do the trick.

ND IMG_1121

I finished my  look with all the gold baubles I could put my hands on: body chain to add interest in the areas where my skin was exposed. Gold dangly earrings because my chains were dainty and discrete. Gold rings because they were just oh so cool. And gold bangles because, well, they’re just my staple! Honorary mention to the shoes that peeked ever so slightly! lol.

So now, in addition to looking like one, I’m ready to sip on a tall glass of champagne!

Take my breath away…who remembers that way back track huh?  This song was the inspiration for my laid back relaxed look – Top Gun baby!  Picture it, I’m strutting confidently across the tarmac as fog rolls in with me wearing a gorgeous smokey gray leather jacket with wool collar trim!  I’ve got my aviators at the ready as I board my fighter jet!  Ok so I won’t be hopping onto any fighter jet but you catch my drift.  LOL

gt IMG_1497

The jump off for this look was the jacket.  This jacket is THE JACKET OF MY WHOLE LIFE!  I found it while perusing Beyond the Rack, an online sample sale site, and had to have it.  It was tucked away in the “My Curvy Closet” section of the site.  Once again, I really like how online sample sale sites are providing PERMANENT plus size clothing selections to better serve their diverse customer base.  See fashion industry it’s not hard!

I love the fact that this jacket is cropped as it hits me right at the top of the hip so that my God given “ass-ets” aren’t hidden. LOL

For this look I went for a femme fatale look. I paired my pencil faux leather skirt with a simple fitted black turtle neck with a pair of black pumps and my ¾ tweed vest. To add a little excitement to my look I added a full earring cuff and my pink candy yum yum lipstick for the perfect pout.

Nancy’s Look

Tis the season for layering. Fall is so unpredictable, so having multiple layers is the best way to conquer the day. For this week’s edition of our lookbook, I was inspired by the boys! This is yet another trend of this season, but does it really ever go away though? As far as I’m concerned, menswear inspired looks are always in.

nd IMG_1772

Blazers are a fall must have. They go well with most things and, most importantly, it’s a stylish way to keep the chills at bay! I love this blazer because of its structure. I’ve had it for many years and it still looks fresh and current. I paired my blazer with this fun polka dot fitted boyfriend shirt. I can predict that this item will also have many wears!

nd IMG_1870

And finally, the star of this outfit is these booties! I found them at the Gap and did a little dance! I saw them at the store in a size 10. For an unknown reason, I decided to try them on. They didn’t fit, but surprisingly, they weren’t crazy tight! So I ordered them online in the size 11 (because of course they don’t actually carry the larger sizes in store… The Gap, please show us big footed babe some love by stocking our size in store please?!? *end rant* LOL). They are soooo comfortable, the color is awesome and I absolutely love them.

nd IMG_1717

One of the recurring comments found in the reviews section is that these boots make the feet look big. While that may be true, I came to terms with this sometime ago. Old Nancy would have returned the boots based on this alone. New Nancy says: Yes! I am tall and I have bigger feet! They allow me to go about my business and help support my statuesque frame, so I am not going to bash them! So I say, screw it, go on with your big feet! So whether it be stilettoes, kitty heels (they’ve been getting a beating lately… LOL), or shoes that make your feet look big, wear what makes YOU comfortable and happy! *gets off soap box* LOL

Leslie’s Look

What fall/winter season would truly be a fall/winter season without a little fur, or faux fur, to add warmth, texture and panache to a look! It can be the perfect opening volley for any outfit you plan to rock this fall. Then, add a foundation of black leather and some knock’em dead booties and ladies, ding-ding-ding, we have a winner!

lt IMG_1096

The catwalks were filled with fur and leather during last spring’s fall/winter fashion week shows and these decadent pieces were a feast for the eyes that I gorged on unrepentantly! And though I had a fun filled summer, I cannot say that I regret having to dress for the cooler temperatures when I get to slip into these sexy pieces.

lt IMG_1135

The foundation of this look is this leather long-sleeved shirt that I purchased many moons ago but continues to stand the test of time. The sleeves were originally more bell shaped, but I had my trusty tailor give them a little nip and tuck. I wanted to pull a little Tracee Ellis Ross action by doing leather top to bottom recalling the gorgeous leather jumpsuit she sported for the Billboard Music Awards, so I paired the leather shirt with these faux leather pants that hug my curves in all the right places.

lt 1150

Since I did not want this look to fade to black, I knew I just had to fall into the fur. This faux fur vest adds  another layer of texture and visual interest that helps to break up all the black. I added this skinny tan belt to help define my waist and my version of “Kinky Boots” that are the embodiment of   all things hot to me (ya, I guess you can say I kinda like ‘em;-)LOL

The accessories were simple: gold rectangular shaped earrings and this quilted shoulder bag and I’m armed and ready to meet cooler temperatures!

Nancy’s Look

It’s so hard to say goodbye to summer days (if you’re like me, you sang these words to Boy’s II Men’s song… LOL).  While I will miss the gorgeous weather, I’m really looking forward to rocking everything fall fashion.  This season has the best colors and structured pieces – oh how I love structured pieces.

Blog IMG_7567 Edited Nancy

Designers have had us salivating over fall trends since their presentation of their autumn/winter 2015 clothing lines this past spring. While some of these “trends” are really classics, it’s always cool to see how they’re re-interpreted them for the current season. For me, that’s the case with brocade.  We saw it with designers like Mary Katrantzou, the queen of prints; Simone Rocha and Givenchy.

IMG_7752 Edited Nancy

I purchased these pants many moons ago and love wearing them around this time of the year. I just loved the print on these cropped pants (for the record, these were actually are cropped and not just too short by default #tallgirldisclaimer lol). Black and gold will forever have an elegant feel to me.

IMG_7616 Edited Nancy

I paired my brocade pants with a crisp white shirt and some black booties. Since we know that it gets a little bit breezy this time of year, I had to add my leather bomber jacket. I really love the whole marriage of colours in this outfit and I felt that the jacket spiced up the look a bit.  And just like that, the fast approaching cooler temperature is a little less daunting.

Falling into cooler climes is not my idea of a good time. I just can’t get excited about cool breezes that rob your breath, chilly walks to the office and the thought of not being able to enjoy a sip of sangria on a terrace under the blazing sun at 8PM. BUT, I can totally  get down with the fall fashions that we get to rock when the mercury falls!

I must admit that I’ve been excited about fall fashions since I saw some of the trends that were hot for the season during fashion week this past spring and here is one of the looks I could not wait to don this season.

IMG_6421 Edited LT

Tie-neck blouses or sweaters were not something that I would typically wear. I usually verre toward funky and this is a more conservative style for me. However, when paired with this leopard print dress, the funk factor is noticeably multiplied as is the retro “sexy secretary” feel.

IMG_6640 Edited LT

To highlight my small waist (and lend a little more curve to my slim silhouette), I added this slim patent-leather belt to this ensemble. I have a long torso, so I like to wear my belts a little higher than my waist-line to make my legs look even longer than they already are!

IMG_6410 Edited LT

Now, to keep with the retro feel this outfit gives off, I went with these gorgeous burgundy platform pumps reminiscent of YSL and oh-la-la Dominique Deveaux is now in the building and ready to create her “dynasty”!

Judy’s Look

Fall is almost here, it’s inevitable, we just can’t avoid it, so if you are anything like me and love looking fly all year long, you adjust and make the best of this colourful season. My first fall lookbook outfit is inspired by menswear. Oh yay! I love a nice tall man that can kill-it in the style category, and many menswear pieces can transition well into women’s fashion. I often see women wearing nice menswear inspired suits that are tailored to their curvier frames. One item that I particularly love in menswear is a tie, which is always the first thing I look for when I see a man wearing a suit.

IMG_5830 reEdited Judy

As a child, my dad always asked me to help him adjust his tie (aww, fond family memories). I also remember having a little red leather tie as a child LOL. So, I guess it’s no real surprise that for this look I decided to go for a “comme les garcons” type of style which is a departure from the very feminine and sexy looks I’m often drawn to. I wore a printed yellow, blue, black and white cardigan, with this fabulous white shirt that I found with a built-in tie. I must say I was relieved to find this shirt because it fit the vision I had for this look perfectly. Also let me be honest, for a second, I really didn’t see myself being able to tie a tie LOL.

IMG_5994 Edited Judy

I scored this shirt while browsing through Forever 21 in the plus size section. I love that it’s not tight across my chest and not too big in the mid section. Another thing I like is that the shirt does not gape in the front across my boobs and I feel very comfortable in it. Trust me when I say the struggle is real to find a proper white shirt that fits my body.

IMG_6044 Edited Judy

To complete my look I wore my leather-look shorts to give me a cool, edgy feel. I had a vision of wearing a necklace under my tie and having it look as though it’s also built into the shirt. I must say, I love how my vision came to life. It just takes my outfit to another level. The last piece is my wonderful black patent oxford shoes which I scored at Forever 21 a few months ago, and surprisingly they are extremely comfortable and they don’t make my feet look big, which is always a plus.

Gail’s Look

Ah, the fresh cool fall breezes will soon be upon us.  I’ve always felt that come September it was time to re-jig my clothing wardrobe – particularly my work clothes so as to incorporate new items so I can refresh my look.  For me the month of September will always feel like back to school even though I’ve been out of school for some time.  I fondly remember that my sister and I made our Mother a little nuts when we INSISTED that we had to have a fresh new outfit for the first day of school!! Ah our poor long suffering Mommy! LOL

Ever since Pantone dubbed Marsala (aka wine red if you ask me LOL) as the “it colour” for 2015 I’ve been seeing it every where and I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon too…it really is a gorgeous colour.

LB1 - G - IMG_6799

These twill skinny Marsala coloured pants are fabulous.  These pants have some stretch to them so they’re very comfortable.  The cut and fit are really amazing and they hug me in all the right places and there isn’t that horrible gaping at the waist which is the usual problem I have with pants.

IMG_7089 Edited GT

I paired these pants with a printed tie-neck blouse, another hot look this season.  I’ve had this blouse for forever and I reach for it often.  It always pays to have great wardrobe staples you can reach for season after season.

IMG_7056 Edited GT

That is also the case for this pink duster.  Again, I’ve had it forever and have featured it in another post seen here on the blog.

Lights, Camera, Action, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion were thrilled with the opportunity to have appeared on Cityline, the country’s longest running day time television program!  Watch as we give you the inside scoop on a wardrobe staple…pants and how we make them work for our distinctly different bodies.

Leslie’s Look

Powdered, primped and pressed, I was eagerly poised and prepped to pounce on the chance to share the Fab Four Fashion vision of fashion for all with the awesome folks of Cityline! This week’s edition was focussed on pants and I knew I had just the pants to put the “p” in perfection!

l IMG_4820

The perfect printed pants with pizzazz is what I like to call these leopard print gems!  If you’ve been following the blog for a while now, you know I simply LOVE prins! If you’re visiting the blog for the first time, let me tell you, I’m obsessed with a gorgeous print! Having a slim silhouette, I am always trying to highlight the curves that I have, and prints go a long way toward helping me accentuate my assets. These printed pants give me more volume on my bottom half which also helps me to balance out  my broader shoulders. Plus with prints being a hot commodity this season, they are a good investment and help to diversify my wardrobe’s holdings!LOL

l IMG_4485

Leaving the pants to take centre stage, I paired this look with this long sleeveless waistcoat in a gorgeous mustard colour and a simple white tank and accessories. What I love most about this look is that it can easily make the transition to fall by swapping out the heeled sandals for some pumps or booties and the tank top for a warm sweater. When you’re working on a budget, it’s always ideal when you have the versatility of wearing your pieces in multiple ways!

l IMG_5025

This look combines a bit of an eclectic feel with a touch of fun and a pinch of pizzazz and I am beyond excited that I could share it with Cityline and all of you! So, if I can be so bold as to borrow from the great Humphrey Bogart:  “Cityline, I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” No?! (Wink-wink)

Nancy’s Look

*stands up* Hello. My name is Nancy, and I’m a 36″ inseam. Now, to all the ladies that have this blessing (we are NOT calling it a problem), how hard is it to find the perfect pair of pants?!! While cropped pants are great for us (that trend was probably invented by a fellow tallista who said: “forget finding long pants!!”), sometimes, we just want pants that pass our ankles, yes?
n IMG_5368

The overall fashion offerings for us tall glasses of champagne have greatly improved, but most of them are still online. So you can imagine how thrilled I am when I score pants at an actual brick and mortar store! Sometimes, they are not quite long enough: that’s when developing sewing skills (or knowing a good tailor) becomes essential as we depend on the extra inches that are sometimes hidden in the hemline.

n IMG_5716Naturally, I love these pants because of the length, but I also love the details it offers like the overlapped waist and the belt that cinches said waist. These pants are from Zara where I must say that I am often pleasantly surprised; this store has now become one of my first stops when shopping for pants. Now, if only they could help us out when it comes to sleeve length!

n IMG_5096

I paired my pants with this awesome striped bardot bodysuit. What’s great about this bodysuit is that it was truly designed for tall women. Therefore, the torso is long enough, allowing the panty part to sit where it’s supposed to and not ride uncomfortably high in the nether regions if you catch my drift. LOL. I accessorized my look with this cool geometric necklace and simple yet fun earrings. The punctuation of this look came in the form of these uber comfortable pink patent-leather pumps for a pop of color. Add a bright lip and I was ready for the bright lights. Stardom, here I come! LOL

50 Shades of Blue that was my jump off for my Cityline debut outfit.  Blue in all its shades and tones is one of my favourite colours so of course that had to be incorporated in my look.

g IMG_4344

Now I, along with the ladies of Fab Four Fashion and women across the globe, struggle with finding great fitting pants, slacks, trousers or whatever you wish to call them.  Moreover, if you’re plus size and short on the height spectrum, like me, then the search is even more frustrating but don’t fret my pet, I’ve got you covered.

g IMG_4398

Thankfully there are retailers that offer plus petite pants lines.  Eloquii the plus size online retailer I’ve raved about offers the “Kady fit” pant that I’m wearing in short, regular and tall.  Another alternative is to look out for cropped or ankle length pants.  They come in lengths that are already tailored made for you…saving you cash on alterations.

g IMG_4052

So, I paired my perfectly fitting navy blue pants with this dolman sleeve pastel blue shirt.  The neat thing about this shirt is that the front part is made of a viscose blend lending a raw silk like look while the back portion is made of a cotton blend for maximum comfort and breathability on hot summer days.

Judy’s Look

When Cityline reached out to Fab Four Fashion about doing a fashion segment on pants, I was so excited! Honestly, I jumped out of my chair at work and went to hug Gail LOL. Soon after I came back to reality and realized that finding the perfect pants that fit my curvy frame was not going to be an easy task. I’ve seen it all with pants and been on countless searches for the right pair.

j IMG_3763

For my body type the 2 main concerns when finding a great fitting pant are:

1- A pair of pants that fit the largest part of my body which are my hippie hips.

2- A pair of pants that don’t have the awful gaping at the back.

Let’s face it pants are an essential piece that every woman needs in their wardrobe. To avoid the problem area (hips and waist) when choosing pants I tend to go for pants that have partial elastic in the waistband.

j IMG_3839

This time around the search finally paid off.  Yay!  I found this great pair of ¾ purple peg trousers from ASOS and the best part is that I got them on sale for 30$!  I just love scoring big!  When these pants arrived, I ran to the bathroom at my work place to try them. I was so anxious to see if my areas of concern were under control.  I couldn’t have been happier when I tried my pants and they fit me perfectly.  There was no gaping at the back and they fit perfectly at the hips.

These pants are a great addition to my fall wardrobe, they are so versatile I can wear them to work with a nice shirt, I can dress them down with a cute pair of oxford shoes and a sweater. Nevertheless I feel that these hot purple pants are perfect for Fab Four Fashion’s TV debut!

j IMG_3942

To complete my TV debut look, since I love colour and I believe colours should be worn all year long, I paired my purple trousers with my ¾ sleeve hot pink top from Zara.  The finishing touches were a pair of blush coloured pumps and a nice necklace to elevate this daytime look to the next level. Lights, Camera, Action- Judy is ready for her close up!

Pants, slacks, trousers, they go by many names and are the bane of the existence for many ladies out there! They’re either not long enough, gap at the waist, awful fit at the hips; therefore, some ladies opt to shy away from wearing pants. We say, no more! If you like pants, then wear them! There’s a way for all body types to rock pants and the Fab Four ladies will demonstrate how they do it!

Black pants and a top – that was my clothing “uniform”.  Black pants were always readily available in my size so that’s pretty much what I stuck with.  Since starting this blog I’ve slowly been giving myself permission to branch out and try other things.

g - IMG_3409

This idea led me to these plus size olive green pants I purchased a while ago and never wore.  These pants are close fitting but have a lot of stretch so they’re very forgiving.  As the plus size petite one in this quartet, shopping for pants can be a chore don’t let that happen.  Remember a tailor is your best friend and secret weapon!

Leslie’s Look

Summer is finally here and it’s time to jump into some fun colours and plunge into some cool trends! One trend I was eager to nose-dive into is culottes. Both Nancy and Gail have done some amazing Fab Four Fave’s on this hot little number and I figured I would be happy to be the one to bring this “Fave” to living colour.

l IMG_4126I consider these pale blue high waisted pants to be a mix between a cropped pant and culottes. They don’t have the extremely wide leg most notable about culottes, but still have enough of that wide leg look to be likened to them. I found that, on my slim frame, the wide leg culottes can sometimes be a bit overpowering, making my legs look a bit like “Puss in Boots” from Shrek! LOL That is not to say that I wouldn’t find a wide leg culotte that would fit just right, I am just counceling my slim ladies out there to ensure that you get the right fit with this trend. Don’t go too baggy or you might be drowned in fabric!

l IMG_4920

I decided to keep this look cool and simple, opting for a simple white crop top and blush coloured pumps that perfectly complimented the look. I then pulled it all together with this gorgeous blue moto style leather jacket that haunted my dreams last summer until I brought it home. It offers the perfect punch of colour. One wonderful thing about this jacket is that there was no need to lengthen the sleeves as, even though I took the smallest size, the sleeves were the perfect length for my long arms!

There was a time when I would sigh deeply at the thought of shopping for pants. They were always too short. It’s still the case for the most part at a brick and mortar store but thank goodness for online shopping! I’m a 34’-36’ inseam so finding the right length pants is quite the task.

I’ve had some success (online) with J Crew, Ann Taylor and Alloy Apparel. But it’s always nice to have the option to walk in a store and just find a pair of pants that fit. I must say that I’ve often been surprised by the pants selection at Zara! And this is where I scored these cobalt ones.

As I mentioned in my previous individual post, I love my jumpers and always look forward to my next one. So today’s post is about my day romper and my  fabulous night romper.

d - IMG_9827

My Day Romper Look:

I found this cute romper a few seasons ago at Forever 21 in the plus section.  I like this romper because it’s not too short and I can easily walk around in it. You can typically catch me running through the 6 in that type of romper on a hot summer day.

d - IMG_9922

Since I have a very curvy frame, I tend to choose rompers that accentuates my curvy frame. For example, I’m not a huge fan of shapeless, loose rompers because it doesn’t compliment my shape. I’m more into fitted rompers that gives me a nice definition at the waist.

d - IMG_0040

This type of romper comes in very handy when you go on vacation and  I should know because last year I traipsed all over Jamaica in a couple of them.

d - IMG_9876Finally, it is beneficial to have a good tailor this helps a lot especially if the hem of your romper is too shorts.

n - IMG_0127

It is everything I look for in a romper and the length is perfect for me. I love the wrap around belt at the waist, which accentuates my waist and gives me this a smoking silhouette if I do say so myself LOL. This cute romper  has an open back, but I can still wear my bra with an adjustable bra strap without my bra straps showing at the back.

I usually rock this romper with a stiletto sandal or a colorful pump to give me a wow sexy factor for a night out for drinks with my girls.

A fashion trend that has spanned the globe and continues to be a favorite among young and old alike!  Invented over 100 years ago, jeans are that one fashion item that has run the gamut from being synonymous with the poor working class to a symbol of wealth and affluence solely based on the name on the label.  Talk about a fashion renaissance!  I know many women can have a love/hate relationship with jeans, but the secret is to not stop looking until you’ve unearthed the perfect pair. Don’t settle for anything else. They don’t need to be expensive; they just need to show off your heavenly curves! Check out what the ladies of Fab Four have on the jeans menu for you!

Judy’s Look

Oohh chile, God knows I have been searching for a good pair of jeans that can fit my curvy body for the longest time. There are a few criteria that I look for in a good pair of jeans:

  • I like my jeans to have stretch. I want to be able to move and be comfortable in my jeans and I hate when I feel a pinch at the waist because the they is not stretchy enough.
  • I’m a sucker for skinny jeans, so I want pair of jeans that is either low rise or mid-rise and when I sit down I don’t want to have plumber crack LOL.  Raise your hand if you had this happen to you in the past LOL –  I’ve  definitely been guilty of this over the years.

Well the search for me is over yay yay. I found 2 great pairs of jeans that meet all my requirements. I discovered this brand called Second Yoga Skin jeans and let me tell you that they are every curvy girls’ dream. Their price range varies from $90 to $160, and you can easily find them at Jean Machines.

The second pair I found, which is the pair I’m rocking on the pictures, is from Old Navy. It’s called the Women’s Sweetheart Skinny jeans in long. They are regular price $39.50 but I got them on sales for $27! They fit me perfectly and I love that they come in short, regular and long. I always go for long cause I love wearing a nice pair of skinny jeans with heels.

To top my look, I wore a sleeveless peplum top – I think that peplum tops are a great combination with skinny jeans especially for curvy girls like me. To further elevate my jeans look, I wore my salmon peep toe sandals and I added my favorite necklace.

Leslie’s Look

My all time favourite thing to wear? Simple; jeans and a tee baby! My love affair with dungarees began at a young age and I’ve been ever faithful to this seemingly timeless fashion trend. Baggy, skinny, synched, bell bottomy (is that a word), I think I’ve worn them all over the years and continue to build my collection!

These skinny jeans by True Religion are my favorite pair right now! They have been broken in and feel like they are bespoke…customized just for my willowy frame! The distressed detail, which I gotta admit  took me a little time to get jiggy with, is now one of the things I like most about them!

The flap pocket is perfectly placed to give the illusion that I’m packing a little more heat (i.e. junk in the trunk LOL) and the wash and skinny leg style let me easily transition this look from day time hang out gear to night time party wear! All I had to do with this look was take a simple white t-shirt and jeans and add a couple upgrades.

L - IMG_2861

Speaking of upgrades…this gorgeous cape blazer, of course reminiscent of Solnage’s   wedding outfit is the piece de resistance for this look. After this cape-jacket I didn’t even need shoes cause no one would have noticed!LOL But since I can’t go barefooted, I chose to finish the look with mint green pumps and a silver clutch. And of course, my sassy shades! Note to my tall girls on True Religion jeans. While I do love them, they are not always faithful to the tall girls! I sometimes have difficulty finding a pair that fit me in both waist and length. I had to go through a lot of frogs before I found my princely pair! But it was well worth the search! See ladies, we can all find our Prince, well, at least in jeans!:-)

Nancy’s Look

I love dresses and skirts like the next girl, but in my heart, just like my girl Leslie, I’m all about jeans and a tee! In fact, 9 out of 10 times that you see me running through the 6, I do so wearing some variation of jeans. I dig a good pair of boyfriend jeans, love my trouser jeans, but can never part from the skinny. They easily go from casual Friday to drinks with the girls, and you already know how I feel about multi purposed clothes!

Now, we tall ladies KNOW that the quest for the perfect pair that is LONG enough is NOT an easy feat! Over the years, I’ve struck luck with brands like Levi’s, J. Crew, Old Navy and Alloy Apparel to name a few. Here, I’m rocking my very first pair of jeans from Topshop and I must say that I’m quite pleased!

With a 36” inseams, gone are the days where I have to pretend that my jeans were supposed to be “cropped” LOL. These also have the right amount of stretch: enough that I do not have the dreaded gap at the waist (my booty endowed ladies will understand!!) and not too tight that said booty will get squished.

This color loving chica swapped her rainbow for an all-black-everything look because, well, why not! I kept my look simple with a bandeau top, leather jacket (which got ditched as it got surprisingly hot!) and strappy sandals. Well, ok, I snuck some color in with the purse LOL I can’t help it!! I love to offset my almost all black looks with metallic accessories, and here, I did so with silver earrings, bracelet and this glorious necklace.

Gail’s Look

Jeans are that quintessential item in a women’s closet that are just a “no-brainer”.  With the variety of styles and washes available, jeans can go from dressed up chic to casual unique in a flash.  It all depends on how you want to rock them.   Moreover, their versatility works for all four seasons.

G - IMG_2983

I decided to on a lighter wash as my look was on the boho casual tip.  For those plus size ladies who are hesistant in trying a pair of skinny jeans why not try a pair in a darker wash?  This is not about hiding your body, merely playing with a trend on your terms.

G - IMG_2980

I paired my light coloured jeans with a white bodysuit and floral kimono.

As I’m sure you all know, kimonos are one of the hot items for summer.  They offer coverage for upper arm for those cool summer evenings.

I polished off my look with a taupe and peachy/gray leather hobo purse and taupe sandals.
