Wondering how you can add some extra longevity to your summer wardrobe? Check out how the ladies of Fab Four Fashion transition some of their favourite summer sizzlers to fetching fall fashions.
Don’t just fade to black because the temperature has begun it’s study descent toward freezing. There are so many colours that make up the spectrum, why not try incorporating more of them into your fall wardrobe and help brighten up those autumn days.
My look was all about colour! I truly feel that we should all extend those beautiful summer colours into fall! This is one of my favourite outfits to wear to the office! I always feel great in it (even when I wake up feeling like I look like Frankenstein’s bride!LOL).
The accessorizing of this look was very simple. Cool earrings, neutral pumps and a gold bangle and I was ready for after work drinks with the crew!
So the moral of the story is, don’t leave behind all those summer colours just because the trees are putting on their peacock like show. Strut your stuff in colour this season and give the tress a little colour competition!
It’s always great to have pieces of clothing that transition well from summer to fall. Whenever I get a chance to be creative I mix and match these pieces very well.
For this fall look, I decided to use my Mélange Mode African print skirt. I absolutely love the print of this skirt, and the fact that I can wear it in the summer with a brighter top (see Melange Mode post), and switch it up in the fall is a huge bonus to me. For my look I paired my skirt with a simple denim shirt. Since fall is all about coats and jackets, I also threw on my fave camel coat.
I would wear this outfit not only for work, but for one of the various events happening during fall. To complete my look, I added a pop-up colour, with a pair of wine suede pumps and a clutch.
When fall is around the corner, I know that I am eager to pull out my boots and coats and all those cool layers. But considering this weather, we are not quite there yet. That’s when transitioning your summer wardrobe becomes key. With that said, I have cheated a little bit. My transitional piece is this leather skirt. Leather used to be more of a fall/winter material but clearly, it’s now worn year round. So to be fall ready, I only had to swap out my crop top for an oversized sweatshirt.
I love the oversize sleeves – which tall girls works for us! #winning. I finished my look with some striped pumps and a sexy handbag (which may or may not be the property of another Fab Four Fashion member… LOL).
Until Mother Nature decides to dip the mercury where we can wear our autumn best, I will continue to dip around in my summer wardrobe!
Fall is here and I’m all for it. For my fall look I shopped my closet and my sister Leslie’s too LOL. I went all the way back to our Fab Four Fashion Pants post for inspiration. I took my olive green jeans and paired them with this long sleeved blush coloured bodysuit that I recently acquired. I love this particular colour combination.
I then swiped Leslie’s oatmeal coloured vest for added warmth.
For some sparkle and glama, yes, I mean glama LOL, I added these gold studded ankle strap flats. With that my fall transitional outfit is complete.

Ever put an outfit together and just feel like something is missing? That’s because something probably is! In a bygone era a gentile woman would not even think of leaving her home without first donning her bonnet; or spend hours at the milliners trying to find the perfect artfully sculpted headpiece to compliment her gown. If you’re looking for THE exquisite hat or fascinator to cause a stir at your next event, one need look no further than David Dunkley!
Having studied with formal royal milliner to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, David’s creations have also graced the head of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.
David is an award winning designer and is also the official milliner of the Queen’s Plate. As you can imagine, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are beyond excited to have had the chance to wear fascinators from David’s private collection when we walked the red carpet at the Nordstrom Opening Gala. Join us as we chat fascinating fascinators and outstanding outfits!
Wearing haute couture has always been a dream of mine, but when you actually get to wear haute couture on top of your head, it’s even better. Who said fascinators can’t be a strong statement piece, well let me tell you about Canadian hat designer David Dunkley.
I had the extreme privilege of wearing one of the David Dunkley’s fascinators which was carefully crafted, and hand made by the visionary himself. My fascinator consists of black and white stripes, made out of “peau de soie” which is worn in the middle of the head, and at the back a few artfully placed bright pink ostrich feathers.
And what could be better than to wear such a striking piece to the official red carpet grand opening of the brand new Nordstrom store at the Toronto Eaton Centre. What a show stopper; this fascinator commends attention and yes, it is a veritable piece of art.
Choosing an outfit to aptly compliment this skillfully designed fascinator was easy, as I had a vision of a black strapless bustier, with a long A-line satin white skirt with black polka dots. The mix of the stripes on the fascinator, and the polka-dot skirt blended so beautifully. To complete my look I wore a pair of long silver earrings and black pumps.
I’m ready to take the fashion world by storm.
Do you like to be a show stopper? Do you enjoy seeing eyes widen as they land on you? If you answered yes, then read on – David Dunkley is for you.
This stunning piece of millinery is not for the faint of heart or those who like being incognito. The creator of this piece loved it so much that he retired this topper to his private collection. Can you blame him? It’s simply stunning. The skillfully crafted flowers are accentuated by black feathers to create this newspaper printed chef-d’oeuvre. I tried on many amazing pieces but my heart literally skipped a beat when the master milliner pulled the ONE from a secret back room.
This gorgeous hat in classic black and white goes with pretty much anything. I chose to carry this color pallet to the rest of my outfit. The gorgeous dress that I am rocking is made of scuba material and hugs my figure right where I want it. The cut out adds just the right dose of sexiness. If you have a wedding, birthday or just want to exercise your right to be hot, you can RENT this beauty for the weekend. No need to commit and they will dry clean it for you!
Always needing a pop of color, I had to pull out my red lipstick.
Entering David Dunkley’s boutique is like stepping into a fanciful jewelry box where all the hats and fascinators on display shine bright like Harry Winston diamonds. I have a particular obsession with hats so you can imagine that I felt as though I died and went to fascinator heaven. I wanted to wear a fascinator that was utterly unique and feathers were an absolute requirement. David of course, did not disappoint.
This fascinator not only had feathers but ombre feathers at that which culminated in a collection of silk flowers which frame my face beautifully.
With a fanciful fascinator like this I went for a rather sedate outfit. I opted for a simple black jumpsuit from my favourite online retailer, Eloquii along with silver pumps.
I added a simple white jacket thrown over my shoulder “vogue editor” style.
ROYAL!! That is how I feel in this jawdroppingly stunning piece of millenary perfection created by the one and only David Dunkley, and this triple take” beauty of a dress from Fitzroy Boutique making me feel like a modern day Cinderella (post bippitty-boppitty-boo of course)!
While it is not often one finds me in a predominantly black outfit, when said outfit looks like this, colour be dammed!
It’s all in the details. Mr. Dunkley (are we even sure the Queen has not Knighted him yet because really, his hats are veritable pieces of artistry), has created the perfect blend of elegance, sophistication and a certain air of mystery in this striking black and silver head piece. The addition of fine crystals to the floating veil and the delicate plumes add that extra touch of glamour that I love so much. In this outfit I feel like a modern day film noire femme fetale leaving a grimacing Bogey or Cary Grant wishing they never met me, yet thanking their lucky stars that they did! 😉
Now, what would a beautiful piece of millenary confection be without the perfect accompaniment? We love to find great Canadian boutiques, and Fitzroy Boutique is a gem! Not only do they have fantastic pieces that are perfect for any occasion, they also……
wait for it….
wait for it….
Ever see a dress you just love, then look at the price tag and stop breathing in case your breath accidently rustles the material to hard causing a bead to come lose or a feather to stray from its skillfully crafted perch? I know I have. Then I go into grinning idiot mode as I try to find the quickest path with the least obstacles to get me the hell outta that store!LOL Well, ladies why purchase that $900 dress if you know you will never have a chance to wear it again. For $50 – $90 you can rent a gorgeous designer dress for a 4 day period, wear it, dance in it, be the envy of everyone in it, then return it to Fitzroy and NOT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DRY CLEANING IT! They take care of the dry cleaning for you!
This ostrich feather dress I’m rocking, designed and handmade in the 6ix by Canadian designer Marika Brose retails for $845! But with Fitzroy, you get the look for less with a 4 day rental for $75!
I kept the rest of my look simple to leave centre stage so to my elegant fascinator and stylish dress. I wore simple crystal earrings and necklace and wore my pewter coloured cage sandals and cuff bracelet to add a little edginess.
And with that, this Cinderella was ready to slip that shoe on her prince’s foot (size 13:-) What? 13’s my lucky number and I did say I was a modern-day Cinderella!(wink-wink)
For my sexy curvy ladies, while Fitzroy does not offer plus sizes just yet, this an area they plan to develop in the future so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out this beautiful similar dress you may just want to call your own: Dress //

Ladies, keeping up with fashion trends can wreak havoc with your budget but you don’t need to be Anna Wintour to be update with the fall looks of the season. Why not shop your closet your closet to stay current with this season’s autumn trends!
Shiny silhouettes sauntered their way down the catwalks at the fall/winter 2016 fashion week presentations. From gorgeous metallic dresses to overcoats that shined bright like a diamond, metallic finishes will be everywhere this autumn. But, ladies, these majestic metallics are not just now jumping into the scene! We saw them last season as well. Don’t be mesmerized by the shiny finish. Be sure to shop your closet first. Check out how Judy and Nancy rocked their metallics in previous seasons:
Menswear inspired looks dominated the runway this season and we’re not surprised at all. We’ve waxed poetic about the versatility of a suit. From season to season a suit will carry you through from the boardroom to after work drinks easily. Check out the suit looks that Gail and Leslie put together last year.
Romantic, whimsical florals have captivated the hearts of the fashion world, and the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are no exception. These beautiful blossoms which dominated the runways for fall, are leaving us feeling dreamy-eyed and scouring our closets for any hint of a pretty petal.
Nancy and Judy plucked these fantastic florals from their wardrobes and will be right on trend for the fall season.
Glorious faux fur also graced the fashion runways for fall in a myriad of colours and patterns. Here, Gail strutted her stuff in a full length leopard print coat and worked it. Leslie opted for a 3/4 length sleeve coat with faux leather shorts and over the knee boots.
Hearkening back to a bygone era, gloves once were the mainstay in a woman’s wardrobe, not just to be worn when the mercury falls below freezing. This fingerlicious accessory is hands down one of the easiest ways to jazz up your outfit this fall. So why not consider throwing on a gorgeous pair of gloves to round out that fall fit. Judy and Nancy were ahead of the curve when they featured gloves in their ensembles last season.
Capes worn as jackets or winter coats is another trend for fall 2016. Both Leslie and Gail opted to include big statement necklaces for their looks last year.
So remember ladies, shop your closets before you make a purchase this fall!

You’ve got a date with the cutie you’ve been crushin on….but what to wear? The no brainer option is a killer little black dress aka LBD.
The dress is guaranteed to turn your crush’s head. I picked up this beauty up at SexyPlus Clothing (fitting name isn’t it wink wink). Owner, Stefanie Augusteijn outfitted her boutique with great selections from casual pieces like jeans and flowy maxi dresses to drop dead gorgeous stunners like this fitted retro style black dress.
The dress features these ultra-sexy adjustable “harness” style straps that flow from a sweet heart neckline. The material is sturdy but has loads of stretch so it accentuates my curves beautifully and I’m still comfy as I strike a pose. LOL I added a belt to further accentuate my waist.
To complete my look I added dangly earrings, nude pumps and this box clutch. With that I’m ready to strut my stuff!
*Special thanks to Roseline Bonheur for getting behind the lens!
Tah Tah for now,
Well ladies and gents, we are almost at the end of our fabulous summer. This year we were blessed with an extremely warm summer season and had days where the thermostat reached record highs. Since all good things must come to an end, Fab Four Fashion has decided to give you at least one more post (possibly two) relating to the summer and give you great options of what to wear until Labor Day weekend.
End of August. Can you believe it?! Say it ain’t so!! Thankfully, the sun is still shining (for the most part!) and the weather is still sweet. As much as I love fall fashion, I want to play in my summer wardrobe just a little while longer.
This outfit is precisely how you’ll catch me running through the streets on an easy breezy day and is just one example of how you can transition your summer outfits for the coming season.
I got this dress about a decade ago (!!!) while on a wonderful trip to Barcelona with my bff (hey Myrsha!). The print is what first caught my eye. I love the colors and plaid is just a timeless classic.
To make the color further pop, I paired my maxi dress with this perfect yellow jacket. This jacket is such an eye catcher and a statement on it’s own. It makes even the most simple outfits go from plain to fab.
Now excuse me as I go bake under the sun before it goes away for another 6 months…
Can you believe it? Summer is almost over and I for one feel the need to make sure I wear all my summer clothes while the temperature’s still hot. It’s also a great idea to start looking at what you have in your personal “summer clothing collection” that can easily make the leap into fall.
This jumpsuit I scored earlier in the summer and just never had an opportunity to rock it on the blog. I fell in love with the print and the style, but I felt no rush to jump into this little number as I knew I could easily wear it as the days got a little cooler.
This piece is perfect for a day party or just hanging with friends. For the tall ladies out there, the length is a 32-inch inseam so that one is a little tricky. I let out the hem so I could rock it with a tiny heel (I just love my heels!!), but even then, the heel has to be a tiny one.
To polish off my look, I went with all gold accessories; as the buttons on the jumpsuit are gold, it felt apropos. Funky gold earrings, gold cuffs and gold flat sandals rounded out the look.
This fall, you will catch me in this outfit with a moto jacket and cute kitten heels (in a nice vibrant colour!). I say hallelujah to pieces that can span 2 or more seasons!
Jumpsuit: Cur Collection //
For my curvy ladies: Jumpsuit //
Yes, another summer is slowly but surely bidding us farewell. I wanted to wear an outfit that was carefree yet sexy all at the same time.
These dark skinny jeans from Forever 21 Plus are simply perfect! They have some stretch making them very comfy and they hug my hips and derriere perfectly!
I added this yellow knit cropped tank top because…why not. I love the colour against my skin and surprisingly I found this in the regular size section of Forever 21. Ladies, don’t be afraid to try on some items that aren’t in the plus section because you never know if you’ll score a winner. If it doesn’t fit, no big deal, just move on to the next item in the dressing room.
Last but not least came these leopard print heeled Vince Camuto sandals! If you follow us on snapchat (FabFourFashion) you would have seen that I scored these bad boys at the Off Saks Fifth Avenue store at Halton Hills (essentially our Ontario equivalent to Woodbury Common in New York state). These beauties are very comfy and I got them for only $40!!!!
Since this summer was very good to me (i.e. nice weather), I had the opportunity to wear my most colorful pieces of clothing. This year I told myself that I wanted to find the right pair of culottes. Yes, finding the right pair of culottes is a struggle, because I need something that doesn’t gather-up between my thick thighs.
Well, the search is over as I found the cutest pair of culottes online from Lane Bryant (YAY!). I was a bit hesitant as I’ve never ordered anything from them before, as well as, in the past, my not being able to find the right pair of culottes to fit my body properly. I’m excited to say that these pleated culottes fit me perfectly and there’s no gathering of material in the crotch area.
What I love about these pleated culottes is that they look like a skirt. The material is very light and flowy, and as a lover of prints and color, I couldn’t be happier with the polka dot print on them.
I kept my casual summer look very simple, as it is an outfit that I would wear to run errands, business casual for work, or brunching in the city. I paired my pleated culottes with a simple white tank top, and wore my light blue jean jacket, which has become a staple in my summer wardrobe. To finish off my look I wore my ultra-high but oh so comfortable beige sandals, put on my white sunglasses and I’m ready to casually cruise the streets of TO.

When Canadian, Montreal-based brand Les Poupounes de Luxe collaborates with Fab Four Fashion, one can only expect that “We the North” are at their very best. Their brand’s message is “We are Montreal Born, our clothes are Canadian made, and Les Poupounes de Luxe stands for a new standard in ready-to-wear clothing uniting women of all sizes”, and Fab Four Fashion is all about that!
Every woman needs a little black dress (LBD) in her wardrobe. It’s one of the simplest ways to look sleek, elegant and sophisticated in one foul swoop. Now, add in a sexy front slit and some exposed shoulder action and you’ve got a winner!
It’s a very rare thing to find me in all black everything. But, when all black looks like this, well then, how could I resist! The style of the dress is simple with enough visual interest to keep it interesting; but what I love about an outfit with such simple lines, is that I get to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. This dress provides the perfect foundation for that gorgeous necklace you’ve been dying to wear; those bold earrings you just haven’t found the right outfit for, but just had to buy; or those shoes that you know were super funky and not your usual, but you could just not leave them in the store!
This dress feels great and is well made. The sizes seem to run just a tad big, but that is all good, because I can easily take this piece to the tailor so I have that “made to measure” feel.
To accessorize my look, I wore bold earrings, a silver cuff on each wrist, and some sexy gladiator heels that let everyone know that I came to slay!
Curvy ladies, Les Poupounes caters to ALL sizes so this dress can be yours and purchased at the same link above!
This Les Poupounes suit has got me feeling like wheeling and dealing, brokering mergers and acquisitions like a stealth corporate raider! Basically, this suit is what corporate dreams are made of.
The versatility of a great suit just can’t be beat. It can go from the boardroom to Thursday happy hour (or as we Montrealers call it 5 a 7) easily. Moreover, one can wear the jacket or the skirt with other things in one’s closet. I just love when my clothing can do double duty!
The suit features a peplum jacket with a hook and eye closure and satin lapels. The fit on this jacket is out of this world fabulous. Often times I have trouble finding jackets that fit correctly but this Les Poupoune gem is perfect.
I paired the jacket with this cross over hem skirt which is in a pencil style and perfectly accentuates my curves. The cross over style also allows for a little bit of leg to peak through – ooo la la. The skirt also features a hook and eye closure as well as a hidden button.
Both the jacket and the skirt are made of a double knit material that includes spandex so there is more give and ease of movement so I don’t feel as though I’m trapped in the suit.
I wore a salmon coloured sleeveless shirt underneath the jacket for a subtle pop of colour. I slipped into some blush/nude coloured pumps and to jazz things up even further I added this leopard print clutch.

My beautiful tall glamazons, Les Poupounes caters to ALL sizes so this suit can be yours and purchased at the same link above!
While browsing on Instagram I saw fellow Montreal blogger @Mllgeri wearing a black jumper which suited her very well. I immediately asked her where she got it and found out it was from a Montreal based company called Les Poupounes.
It’s always nice to discover a Canadian brand that understands that women of fuller shapes and sizes can be fashionable. What you will find in their collection is the basic, classic and timeless black and white pieces that you can mix for work and various events.
I chose the classic black shorts jumper with a satin waistline. As I mentioned earlier, I saw it on another blogger and knew it would look good on me. What I love about the jumper is that it’s made out of a stretchy spandex material, which gives you room to breathe so you don’t feel too snug in it. Since this fabulous jumper is made out of a thicker material, I would most likely wear it during fall and winter with stockings and a nice pair of heels.
For this look I went for classy and fab! To accentuate my waistline I wrapped a thin leather belt around my waist, and kept it simple by adding long gold earrings. To glamorize my look, I wore my lace-up black studded sandals and grabbed my sexy beaded clutch. Last but not least, this jumper comes in every size. Isn’t it awesome when a retailer realizes that all woman want fashionable pieces, irrespective of size!
We’ve said it once, twice, a thousand times. Finding designers that cater to all body types is cause for a celebration. Retailers and designers, please take notes! It can and is being done, and done beautifully at that.
Les Poupounes de Luxe really personifies what Fab Four Fashion stands for. What I like most (other than the fact that they cater to us all) is that their pieces are classic, must have wardrobe staples. They are the blank canvas that will give you many different wears.
The other obvious bonus is that you’re not limited to a “tall” or “curvy” section of their site. All items can be customized. As a lover of jumpsuits (I know that you all know about my love affair with jumpsuits), I automatically zeroed in on the Tuxedo Jumpsuit. Seeing the inseam of 32″ almost stopped me in my tracks. Since they make every piece, I figured that I would ask if a few additional inches could be added, and voila, I had this perfectly fitted jumpsuit.
The satin at the lapel and trimming on the side pockets elevates this classic piece. The rayon, nylon and spandex combination ensure close fit without being clingy. This chic piece is a standout piece on its own, but I decided to add some gold accessories because black and gold are such a great combination. I added the belt to accentuate my waist, the bangles are my go to and the drop earrings are just too cool to pass on! Punctuate it all with studded pumps and just like that, I was ready to strut my stuff.
Plus size ladies, this jumpsuit comes in all sizes so feel free to get on Slay on with this very piece.
Special thanks to Les Poupounes de Luxe for the fantastic pieces.
Further thanks go out to Roseline Bonheur for the flicks!

We are always impressed when women go for their dreams and this is exactly what Fike Ayeni did with Ziza Boutique. She saw that there was a need for individuality and diversity in the fashion landscape and she decided to do something about it. We are so glad she did!! She goes to the ends of the world (literally) to provide her customers with beautiful garments. Do yourself a favor: sit back, relax and enjoy the greatness that is Ziza Boutique.
Another gem found when Fab Four Fashion discovered the online boutique Shop Ziza, and we were ecstatic when we realized that Shop Ziza catered to straight, plus and tall sizes.
While driving on the way to meet Fike, the owner of Ziza boutique, I didn’t know what to expect. I immediately felt relaxed and at ease when we were greeted by the gorgeous and stylish owner Fike. The boutique is located in the basement of her beautifully welcoming home and is all at once chic, inviting and sets the stage for a truly wonderful shopping experience.
What’s so special about this in-house boutique is that each piece is unique, and that she only orders a few sizes in each piece. Limiting the orders, minimizes the chance of running into someone wearing the same outfit as you.
I felt like a kid in a candy store when I entered the boutique, perusing through all the clothing on the floor, and the additional hidden gems in the back room. This boutique boasts a wide variety of both straight and plus size pieces. I was fortunate enough to find several pieces that caught my eye, however, my heart was captured by this gorgeous short sleeve dress. Very different from what I usually gravitate toward. I love the light blue color with the combination of the floral pattern. This dress reminds me of Haute Couture Gucci runway. It’s very feminine, classy and bold all at the same time.
To complete my look, I paired my dress with blush pumps and accessorized with silver bracelets and earrings.
Fike told us that she regularly travels to Europe to visit different merchants and bring back pieces that she thinks her customers will appreciate. Well I’m quite happy with exclusivity, and in my new dress I’m certainly ready to rip the runway of the main streets of Toronto.
Dress: Ziza Boutique (and they have great options for Tall women)
Finding a new place to shop is always great. Finding a new place to shop which offers unique pieces is amazing. Finding a new place to shop that offers great pieces in all sizes is the best! If you’re as excited as I am, you need to check out Ziza Boutique.
Have you ever been to an event only to find someone else wearing the same [insert piece of clothing] as you? Annoying right? Well when you shop at Ziza, the chances of that happening are slim to none. Shop Ziza came into existence for that very reason and being unique is its’ raison d’être.
When we stumbled on the IG page, we were immediately impressed with their offerings. Going to the boutique was even more impressive. Owner Fike Ayeni clearly has a great eye for fashion and curates pieces that will speak to the sophisticated women’s sensibilities.
She even thought about us long legged babes! Her Tall section is actually tall and the offer some great options – in both straight and plus sizes.
This dress was one of the many pieces that caught my attention. This satin dress has such a regal feel! I immediately pictured myself wearing it with goddess braid, big gold earrings and red lips while relaxing on the hilly coast of Santorini. Gotta say, I’m quite pleased with the result of my vision, now I just need one of you to hook me up with a plane ticket! LOL
I further accentuated my waist with a thin gold belt and wore mustard pumps to have my must-have pop of color.
Plus size babes, you can get this exact dress here.
Stylish, unique and absolutely divine are apt descriptions of this fabulous dress I discovered from Ziza Boutique. Print perfection, subtly sexy and boldly beautiful, this dress combines all the elements I love in my clothing: cool print, funky details and a little dash of sexy!;-)
But for me, Ziza Boutique was as much about the clothing as it was about the shopping experience. Picture it, a beautiful, relaxed setting, in which you have access to unique clothing and accessories, painstakingly selected by the owner, who has created a boutique experience that will leave you excited about the pieces, thrilled with the variety of sizes, and the assistance of the owner who has an amazing instinct for what will look perfect on your body type and shape! She was amazing!
As I mentioned earlier, this girl does love herself some print, as they give me the look of that extra volume that I know you all know I’m always on the hunt for…AND with the fire engine red belt to accentuate my waist, my hourglass shape is amplified! The style of the dress is so simple, yet the added details of the volume in the sleeve, small key-hole opening at the neck and bold print all come together to make it a show stopper.
Styling this dress could never be simpler. All I added was funky earrings, and a stand-out cuff (which is actually 2 cuffs stacked together). I kept the shoes neutral so as not to have them competing with the dress and I was ready for my close up, and ready to hit the town!
Dress: Ziza Boutique // Shoes: Office //
For my curvy ladies: Dress //
Picture it, you get the invite to the party of the season, the next question becomes what are you going to wear? You rush to your closet and riffle through and quickly determine that a shopping spree is needed ASAP! You’re best bet in finding a truly unique piece that no one else will have is the Ziza boutique! Once again, we’ve found another fashion retailer that offers clothing for women of all sizes! Hip Hop Hooray for that!!
Gorgeous does not begin to describe this beaded gown. This form fitting dress hits me in all the right places-accentuating my curves beautifully. As one moves closer to the bottom of the dress it flares out prettily so there’s a wonderful “swoosh” when I walk so I feel like the belle at the ball!
The details at the top of the dress is equally beautiful. The red and clear beads sown in at the neck make this dress nothing short of Oscar worthy!
To complete my look I added simple silver studded earrings, blush coloured pumps and simple silver bracelets. With that I’m ready to dance the night away.
Dress: Ziza Boutique (For my tall ladies my dress is available and there are other great floor length evening dress options for you on the Ziza site like this one!) // Pumps: Jessica Simpson (old) similar here // Bracelets & Earrings: eBay // Silver Bead Bracelet: Tiffany
Tah Tah for now,
The Fab Four
The biggest North American festival most commonly known as Caribana is here and Fab Four Fashion is ready to jump and wave. Ever heard of the expression “Hair done, nails done, everything did” if yes, you are ready to see our party outfit ideas.
I don’t know about you; but we ready, we ready, yeah we ready, we ready, ready, ready, ready, ready (those who know, know, but for those who don’t know, I didn’t all of a sudden start to stutter, I’m borrowing the words from Bunji Garlin… lol).
Caribana is the time of year when you leave all your inhibitions at the door and just get on’ bad! And I’m here for that. I’m a day party kind of girl. I enjoy a great rooftop, having the sun beaming on my skin, dancing to good tunes while waving my Haitian flag and sipping on some delicious beverages. So for a day party, instead of reaching for a freakum dress, I’ll go for something more playful.
This piece right here fits the bill perfectly. When I heard it calling my name tucked away hidden in between racks, I thought that it was a cute A-line dress and I worried that it was going to be on the short side. But lo and behold, it’s not a dress, it’s a romper!
It has all the winning elements: low scoop back, pockets, a great print, need I say more? The romper is made of polyester so while the material is “stiff” enough to hold its shape, its light weight enough to allow you to bust a move!
Since this romper is a stunner, accessorizing it was a breeze, I just added a dash of gold on my ears and my signature bangles and I am ready to whiiiiine, get ready to whiiiiine (again, those who know, know, and for those who don’t these are words of wisdom from my girl Alison Hinds. LOL)
Let me see your rag…let me see your flag!!! Another fun and exciting Caribana weekend is about to hit the 6ix and I could not wait to limber up, do my stretches in anticipation of working my waist to some sweet soca “rydims”!! Of course, what would all these fabulous fetes be without an equally fabu outfit to make sure I keep up with the sizzle being laid down in the tracks. This look is for the grown and sexy women who know how to “get on bad”, but always leave ‘em wanting more!LOL
This look is all about being cool, comfortable and allows for the flexibility of whining down without any wardrobe malfunctions or potential peep shows!LOL The fit is perfect in that it hugs my waist, but flows away nicely into a wide leg that gives me an extra sway to my walk! Now tall girls out there, I scooped this jumpsuit up at Zara, and normally they are amazing at making their pants and jumpsuits with a good length in the inseam. I can usually buy an extra small size and still at my height of 5ft 9in wear at least a 4 inch heel (or higher). This was not the case with this jumpsuit. I had to let out the hem completely to be able to rock it with my high heels.
This look was so simple yet so elegant. The colour makes it impossible for you not to get noticed and for those women who like easy outfits, it’s a jumpsuit so no need to work out that perfect pairing of top and bottom.
Accessorizing was a breeze. I wanted to be glam, so I wore a bold statement necklace and a rose gold cuff. My nude shoes rounded out the look and with that, I was ready to jump and wave!
“….And I feel like I just win a million dollars!” The lyrics to a beloved soca song by KES The Band always gets me ready to jump and wave during Caribana aka JUMP UP to us West Indians!!! From wonderful island rhythms to delicious West Indian food like roti, I just love this time of year!
And what would Caribana weekend here in the Tdot be without great parties to attend with equally great friends. For my Caribana party look the watch word was sultry!
I chose this sage green front knot body con dress with a plunging neckline. Hey, its Caribana one has to live a little LOL. I added this gold bodychain to accent the plunging neckline that I just love!
To complete my look I added nude pumps and even more gold accessories. Now I’m ready to dance the night away with my peeps!
Caribana is fast approaching, and while we try to hold on to the last few weeks of summer to take advantage of our outfits, we can also pay homage to one of the biggest Caribbean parties of the year!
This year my Caribana vibe is calling for sexy rompers, shorts and jumpers. For a nice evening rooftop party, my outfit of choice is this sexy romper I got from ASOS. I’m always a fan of prints or geometric graphic prints.
I copped this romper on sale. I loved the white and black print, although I was initially concerned about the length. However this romper wasn’t too short, most importantly my peaches were fully covered.
This romper allows me to jump and wave, and more importantly whine up and twerk a little bit LOL. The long sleeves are perfect for the cool summer breezes on the rooftop, because when I’m out for Caribana I don’t like walking around with a coat.
What I like the most about my romper is that it transitions very well from day with a cute pair of flats, to evening with a nice pair of heels.
To spice up my look I went for a black, white and pink, snake skin stiletto that was also purchased from ASOS. Last but not least, since the romper has a sexy v-neckline, I thought I would add one of my favorite necklaces to accessorize my look.
Now that I’m finally ready I can’t wait to “duck” on my soca tune “Ducking” and find my dance partner for “One Dance” by Drake!
For Tall fashionista: jumper
Tah Tah for now,
The Fab Four
Jennifer Hudson, Angelina Jolie and Coco Rocha are just some of the celebrities who’ve worn and loved Greta Constantine. Co-Founded by Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, 10 years ago, this design duo is at the pinnacle of Canadian fashion. The ladies of Fab Four Fashion were beyond thrilled to be wearing their gorgeous designs and to feature them on another Canadian staple – Cityline!
GLAM – OR – OUS! That is what Greta Constantine denotes, connotes and invokes! Someone please give me a pulpit because I feel like preaching! When you find a design house that understands quality in both style and fabrics; gets that woman come in all shapes and sizes, and recognizes women want to be trend setters not fashion followers you have the holy trinity of fashion. I sometimes feel like we ladies of Fab Four Fashion are like Aristotle telling everyone that the earth is round! We are trying to show retailers and designers that women of all sizes want stylish designs. However, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong are God’s gift to body diversity, and are truly among the enlightened designers that create masterpieces for all women! (cue choir and blinding white light:-)!
My heart skipped a beat when I saw this stunning dress. The top portion with its beautiful print and the tea cup shape of the bottom portion were so unique and spoke to the fashionista in me! The stretch in the top portion hugs my slim curves, while the bottom gives me the added volume I’m always looking for.
And ladies, ladies, ladies, this design is not only gorgeous, but also resilient. The first time I went to sit down in it, I was afraid it might lose it shape or become crushed. Imagine going to the wedding of your bestie or a “friennemy” and looking like you just rolled out of bed by the time you hit the reception! Not cute. Ladies fear not! You can sit, stand, fox trout or pop-n-lock and still not muss the look!
This dress is a standout wedding season winner. In particular those late summer early fall weddings where there’s the beginning of a nip in the air. And accessorising is a cinch. The dress speaks for itself so I did not need much in the way of accessories. I wore dangly pewter earrings, a bold statement ring and my stripe black and silver pumps because I love to mix prints.
And with that, I’m ready to give the bride a run for her money!
What can is say – I’ve simply died and gone to fashion heaven! I’m draped, cinched all dolled up in Greta Constantine. Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, the dynamic design duo, who co-founded Greta Constantine 10 years ago. They’re a fashion powerhouse in the Canadian fashion scene and I’m beyond blessed to be wearing their sophisticated designs! I was like a kid in a candy store as I combed through racks and racks of their glorious designs.
Ok lets get to my wedding guest outfit. So, as I mentioned before I poured over the racks sample size designs and sadly there was nothing in my size straight off the rack but those Greta geniuses came to the rescue. My plus size sisters, you too can get your hands as well as the rest of you in a Greta Constantine design.
This look right here is all about glamour and starts with this high waisted skirt which is the very essence of simple well fitting design. The skirt is made of a high performance wrinkle resistant (AMEN!) material that can be thrown in the washing machine and presto change-o- clean skirt!
I paired this gem of a skirt with a simple black tank top from and a sleek black belt.
Next was this gorgeous silk/wool cape, another Greta Constantine creation. I feel like Dominique Devereaux from from that night time soap – Dynasty.
So, to complete my wedding guest look I had to add a little bling (because I have to shine bright like a diamond baby lol) in the form of these sparkly earrings and bracelet. And voila, my outfit is complete! Now where is my champagne?
Weddings during the summertime are awesome but finding the right outfit for different types of weddings can be a pain. When the invitation says bring glamour to another level, one designer that comes to mind is Greta Constantine. With their various elegant styled gowns and their famous tea cup styled dresses, my, my, my… what a treat.
The ladies of Fab Four and I recently had the chance to visit their studio to try on some gowns. Going there I didn’t know what to expect but I knew that I would find an Oscar winning dress.
The first dress that I scooped up is called the Merle Cape style gown. This dress screams elegance and class on so many levels. The top of the dress is loose and is equipped with a back cape. The bottom part is fitted at the hips and flares out near the bottom, which accentuates my hourglass figure.
What’s so special about my gown, is that the cape style is a single layer of microfiber, which allows the material to flow and drape so nicely on me. I couldn’t be happier because it covers my little tummy.
The cape has a dramatic affect that makes me feel like Diana Ross in Mahogany! I can’t help but to open my arms wide and walk like I own it and fly away gracefully!
The bottom part of this lavish dress is made out of 2 layers of microfiber which is similar to spanx, and the stretchy fabric hugs me perfectly in all the right places. It’s always amazing to find an established designer that caters to all sizes. Ladies if you set your coins aside for an exclusive and stunning piece, Greta Constantine would be one of the best choices that will be able to accommodate you!
Checked myself in the mirror, spun around a few times, put on my earrings, and my lipstick, and here comes Queen Supreme ready to slay!
I was so excited to be working with Greta Constantine. I mean, it’s Greta Constantine! Paris Fashion Week Greta Constantine. Ten years strong Greta Constantine. CAFA 2016 Womenswear Designer of the Year winners Greta Constantine. How fantastic!
Going to their studio was so much fun, however choosing the dress was so hard! That’s because my heart fluttered on a number of pieces. But when I tried the Ancha gown, I collapsed like Serena Williams did after her seventh Wimbledon victory.
I love this dress for so many reasons. First, the lenght of this dress accentuates my height and makes me look like a delicious tall glass of blue caracao cocktail honey! Ha! It’s funny how the thing that I wished I could have traded years ago, is the very same that I want to highlight today. I love my height and every piece of clothing that further calls attention to my statuesque frame is a winner in my book.
The shoulder overlays can be worn in a many different ways: whether off the shoulder or asymmetrical, it always looks elegant. Then, we have the side cowl detail on the skirt for the win! You see, I was not blessed with “va-va-voom-baby-making” hips. As such, I appreciate a garment that can add a little volume in the right places. And while the cowl worked in adding volume for me, it serves double duty as it can also hide a little tummy. This only means that you can go for that second portion PLUS dessert.
And last, but certainly not least, this dress is made of a superb microfiber material. This material hails all the way from Italy. It is mainly used for athletic wear, but the men of Greta Constantine had the genius idea of re-purposing it for high fashion. It repels water, smooths you out and keeps the rich colors. AND, you can throw it in the washing machine. Let me give you some time to reread that last sentence. You can throw it in the washing machine. How fantastic is that!
Not to be outdone, I finished my look with the amazing jewelry from none other than Rebekah Price. This statement jewelry is made of multi colored Swarovski crystal and it married perfectly with the color of my gown. That was just the wow factor that I needed to complement my look and to take it to another level.
This look is so glamorous! I need to find a reason to dress like this on a daily basis!
Special thanks to photographer extraordinaire Roseline Bonheur.
