5 A 7

Grp Edited IMG_7080

Some people call it ‘happy hour’, we Montrealers call it ‘5 a 7’.  Bottom line, it’s the same thing, we just use different terms. Like the legendary Michael Jackson said “So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf and just enjoy yourself “. That is exactly what the ladies of Fab Four Fashion plan on doing after work with their killer day outfits that transition right into night.  So, without further ad0 sit back, relax, grab a drink and enjoy the post.

If you see me skipping around during a day at the office, then chances are that I will be getting together with my girls at the end of the day. LOL. That’s when we endulge in some yummy appies and delicious cocktails.
ND Edited IMG_8221

Thankfully, my work environment isn’t too conservative, so my day to night transition is rather simple. For example, during the day, I would rock my faux leather pleated skirt and button up with a blazer. As soon as the clock strikes five, I ditch the blazer and jazz up my look.ND Edited IMG_8195

Here, I added my drapey trench and accentuated my waist with a hairskin leopard print skinny belt. I brought a little bling with my necklace. Then added my mandatory pop of color with mustard pumps and lime clutch.

Now it’s time to unwind with my ladies!ND Edited IMG_8169

Leslie’s Look

One thing I miss most about my hometown of Montreal is the Thursday evening 5 a 7 a.k.a. happy-hour to those of you not from Montreal.  It was a time to get together with my friends and head out to the latest hot spot “watering-hole” and chat, sip on some cocktails and maybe do a little two-step if the vibe was right.

Final LT Edited IMG_7488

Since these 5 a 7 always happened after work, we always had to pull out our cutest looks that meshed work and play. My look was all about colour and comfort. This dress rom H&M has that fantastic retro 70’s feel that I love so much, and is just perfect for both a day at the office and an evening on the town.LT Edited IMG_7175

I elected not to fasten the top most button of the dress so I could wear this gold cami underneath to add another layer to the look. Since I can easily get lost in loose fitting pieces, I added a belt to the look to highlight my waist and add more visual interest.LT Edited IMG_7196

To round out my look, I slipped my feet into these beautiful cream and black shoes from Aldo. I actually first caught sight of these babies on the Canadian daytime TV show “The Social” being worn by one of the hosts Melissa Grelo.  I just died when I saw them and I ran out to pick up a pair!

I then threw on my leather coat with detachable fur collar and I was ready for 5 o’clock!LT Edited IMG_7529

What I like to wear for a 5 a 7, is a nice dress that can transition well from the boardroom to a resto lounge after work. I tend to choose dresses that are comfortable and that don’t require too much work to make the leap into my after work adventures other than putting on a pair of pumps and freshening up my makeup.
JS Edited IMG_7723

I personally think that every woman should have these types of dresses in their wardrobe, because it is so cost effective when you consider that you can build 2 or 3 looks with one piece.  You can wear this dress as I did with a fashionable necklace, or layer it with a fitted blazer.
JS Edited IMG_7624

For this look I went for a fitted knee length grey dress, which works well with flats or heels and keeps you looking professional and cute. Our early spring weather has arrived, so I wore black stockings with my mini booties to keep away the chill in the air. Finally to seal the deal on my look I wore my leather and tweed jacket and my leather gloves.

And voila, I’m ready for a cocktail!

Gail’s Look

There’s nothing like getting together with friends after a hard day’s work.   As a former Montrealer, the Thursday 5 a 7 aka Happy Hour was the ideal day of the week and time frame to celebrate the fast approaching weekend while not being out too long since there is still one more day of work to knock out lol.

It’s ideal to have those pieces in your wardrobe that transition easily from day to night.  I just love having “double duty” clothing options in my closet.gt IMG_7832

gt IMG_7919

I  love this gray knee length dress.  It offers long sleeves for extra warmth if your office tends to be on the cold side.  It also works with a variety of jackets.  Here I chose to wear a houndstooth patterned coat but once in the office I could easily throw on a black tailored jacket and I’d be good to go.
gt IMG_7823

Once the work day is done, I’d ditch the jacket and would transition to wearing a little something sparkly at my neck.  This statement necklace does the trick beautifully.   With that, I’m ready for a well-earned glass of wine!GT Edited IMG_7960

Spring Stepping

Spring Shoes

Spring is around the corner ladies! This means that we get to kick our dusty winter boots to the curb and step out in our freshest footwear. To get you ready, we compiled a list that will surely have you drooling. So whether you have wider feet, or need the highest heels on the planet, we’ve got you covered!

Our girl Gail loves a good flat. Here’s what she found.

Don’t get me wrong, sky high heels are beautiful and do all kinds of amazing things to one’s legs but they’re not too forgiving to one’s feet.  So, below are some of my fave flats that are also available in wide sizes.
Carina Flat Eloquii
These beauties come in blue, a floral prints and the stripes (shown above). Available in sizes 7w to 12w.
Estella Ball Flat Eloquii
A metallic flat is always a must! They also come in red and black, silver, and also in black and white. Sizes 7W to 12W.
3. Gemstone Peep Toe D’orsay Flats
Torrid sandal

Leslie’s ascribes to the philosophy that higher is better!
If you’re a gal that likes her high heels the way I do, you will love these sexy numbers that will definitely give you an extra wiggle when you walk, not to mention some extra pizzazz to that outfit! One of my fave places to buy shoes is Office; a company out of the UK, and though shipping and duties can be a bit of a drag, for the right “gem” it’s worth it (yes, I am a shoe-aholic!LOL)
4. On To Point Court Heels
office 3
This is just the perfect pump and it boasts a 4.5″ heel. Available in sized 5 to 10.
Office 1
This stunner is such a statement piece. If you’re a size 5 to 9, they could be yours!
office 2
What we have here ladies, is a gorgeous two toned snake gem! Available in sizes 5 to 10.
Let’s talk about stilettos pump and Judy’s fascination with them.

I’m always on the lookout for the best pointed toed pumps that makes my size 11 feet looks sexy. When I found out that Ivanka Trump’s shoe line goes up to size 11, I almost did a back flip LOL. A few months ago, I purchased 2 pairs of Ivanka Trumps Carra Dress Pump. I can’t stress enough how much I love them. They have a perfect tip, are super comfortable (thanks to the cushion found at the ball of the foot) and true to size.

7. Carra Pointed-Toe Pumps

These pumps comes in over a dozen different colors, patterns and materials such as suede, leather and patent. Available in sizes 5 to 11. Also available at Lord & Taylor.

8. Dea Pointed Toe Pump

This is another pump that aims to please. Also available in many colors, and up to size 11.5.

9. Hazeley Peep Toe Lace Up High Heel Sandals

peep toe

Nothing screams sexy like a lace up peep toe. These Dolce Vita sandals come in four different colors and from size 6 to 11.

Lastly, tall resident Nancy represents for the ladies with a larger footprint.

I was sitting comfortably at a size 11 until I had my baby. While I was eager to bring on this new life, I was not aware that my feet would further expand! Going from a size 8 to 9? No big deal. But going from 11 to 12?!!?!! That’s a life changing experience! (Dramatic much?? LOL). Thankfully, the extended shoe size offerings continue to improve, but there is definitely more room to grow (pun totally intended).

10. LTS Rome High Leg Leather Gladiator

You’ll be ready to conquer the world in these bad boys. These are available in sizes 9 to 15!

11. Aisha Suede Fringe Sandal

Wedding season will soon be upon us and these sandals will be sure to carry you through! Available in sizes 4 to 12.

Holiday season got you feeling blue whenever you think about what to wear to all those festive events? Well, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion have teamed up with Alloy Apparel & Accessories to showcase some amazing looks to help get you in a more festive mood. Looks full of sparkle and lace, sequins and shine and a whole lot of fire to heat up your holiday! Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose… It’s that time of year again, when the holiday party invitations start rolling in and we ladies run to our closets to find that special something that will put us in a festive mood.

This gorgeous lace dress from Alloy Apparel’s plus size line hits all the right notes.  With its short sleeves and figure hugging silhouette, it’s perfect for that office Christmas party.  Moreover, the length of this dress is spot on for me given I’m on the short side of the height spectrum.  This lovely lace dress also has a little stretch to it as well so it really does hug ones figure wonderfully.

gt IMG_6896

I love the partial open back detail found on the back of the dress so one can show just a bit more skin without being too revealing.  I paired a black moto style jacket with this dress to toughen up the look a bit.  Now I’m ready to sip eggnog and dance the night away!

With the Holiday season fast approaching, trying to find the perfect holiday outfit to hit those parties in style can be daunting for some. Well we’ve joined forces with Alloy Apparel to showcase a few pieces from their holiday collection, that will make everyone believe you are the Obi-Wan Kenobi of holiday fashion finds!

I’m the type of gal that likes to live on a glam high all year long, and this holiday season is no exception.  My look was all about GLAMOUR, lookking FABULOUS and being BOLD! I present to you Cookie Lyons younger sister, Chanel Lyons (for those who watch Empire I know you get me LMAO). While browsing through the Alloy Apparel website I found this lovely sequins champagne wrap dress. The dress is fully lined with a hemline ending just above the knee. The great thing about Alloy is that they cater to all sizes and you can find most items in straight, tall and plus sizes, and you know Fab Four Fashion loves companies that understand that fashion is for all.

js IMG_7259

One thing I must say, I selected my dress size based on the size chart and was surprised to find that when it arrived I had quite a bit of room to spare.  Therefore one can conclude that for this particular item, Alloy is very generous with their sizing. Works for me, cause I’d rather my dress have a little extra room than be too tight. This is an easy fix, the solution, my fave person, my tailor and voila, problem solved. Alternatively, you can always order a size smaller and with the stretchy material you will be fine.  This dress is gorgeous, a total show stopper and will definitely be a hit during the holiday season.  My tall and plus size babes can all dive into this sassy little number too!

js IMG_7400

To complete my Cookie Lyons’ inspired look, LOL, I chose to wear a spotted faux fur leopard print coat which is simply the business and perfect to wear on those cold winter nights. It’s big and its bold and most importantly it’s warm. To finish off my look I paired the dress with my blush patent pumps and long dangly earrings, and of course, my signature red lipstick muah!!!! Here she is the latest cast member of Empire: Cookie’s younger sister CHANEL LYONS!

For the past couple of weeks, all attention has been on what to wear to parties and rocking the best and fiercest freakum dress. Well what about those dinners with friends, or that get together with family that doesn’t need to be too formal? If you need an outfit for those occasions and your mom’s been begging you to put those jeans away, well here is a great alternative.

nd IMG_7669

This is probably coming to you as no surprise, I went with a sequin number! lol These pants are awesome: simple black jeans in the back and sequins in the front! The jeans half have just the right amount of stretch to ensure great comfort while the front says BAM! Here I am! lol The pants come in 32″ and 37″ inseam which is the perfect length for us long legged ladies. The sizing worked perfectly for me, I consulted the size chart and went with the size closest to my measurements. They have a snug fit but don’t dig in – none of that dreaded muffin top here!

nd IMG_7578

Wanting to mix my materials, I paired my pants with Alloy’s Caroline Lace Zip Back Blouse. I wanted my look to be more on the sassy side so underneath my lace top I wore a tube top with a sweetheart neckline. If you prefer more coverage, you can easily wear the top with a camisole. It has an interesting back, boasting an exposed zipper and fly away back detail. This is another piece that will get many wears in many different settings.

Thanks to the good folks at Alloy Apparel, you now have a great option for those informal affairs where you still want to dazzle!

The holiday season is upon us, and I for one have already been making merry at a few holiday shindigs so far! I’ve done the requisite work lunch with the colleagues, the after work dinner with friends (thanks Erum for organizing) and that oh so necessary ugly sweater party (Efua and Chris great party)!  But you always need to have a sexy little number to wear out for that special holiday event. Whether it be that fancy holiday party your significant other invited you to, or heading out to the club for a night out to shake what your mama gave you, you need to have a special piece in your holiday clothing arsenal to fit the bill. This dress, courtesy of Alloy Apparel & Accessories is my not so secret weapon.

LT IMG_6292 re edited

This dress has all the sparkle a girl could ask for without being over the top, with the elegant colour combination of black and gold to lend that air of sophistication. This is a great piece because it is so versatile. Let me tell you how I plan to rock it now, and how I plan to remix it for the future.

So first of all, I’m rocking this dress backwards, yes, backwards. For those of us ladies with a very small bust-line, we often don’t want to wear garments that draws attention to our lack of large “lady lumps”. LOL  As such, wearing this dress with the front, to the back, raises the neckline, while adding a little exposure at the back.

LT IMG_6633

The long slit on the side adds just the right amount of subtle sexiness to the dress to give people a little peep without giving away the whole show, and showing off those long gams. Now for how to keep this dress fresh and new for future events. First, I just know this dress would work fabulously as a mini! After a few wears, I plan to take it on a little trip to the tailor to take the length, up, up, up! For women on the taller side this would be an awesome option for you if the maxi length just doesn’t hit the mark.

LT IMG_6618 re edited

Second wardrobe remix I plan to do with this dress is rock it as a top! A hot leather black pencil skirt would look phenominal withthis dress (a.k.a. top). The lesson here is to think outside the box when it comes to your wardrobe pieces.

One last tip ladies, if you decide this sexy number must come home with you, try going down one size. I’m actually wearing one size smaller than my actual size and it’s just a tiny bit big, but nothing that a tiny nip and tuck won’t fix. Take your measurements, consult the size guide and go one down a size with this one.

Now I’m ready to hit the next holiday bash! I love this time of year and I’m soaking it all in: the fashion, the fun and the festive hum in the air…cause its the most wonderful time of the year!

A Long Tall Sally Holiday

grp IMG_4593

As the vertically enhanced pair of Fab Four Fashion, finding garments that fit our longer limbs is definitely a challenge. We continually need to be “creative” with our clothes – read rolled up sleeves or “ankle pants” LOL. Thankfully, many years ago, a UK retailer took notice of our needs and launched Long Tall Sally. This retailer designs clothes for fashionable ladies 5’8″ and over, sizes 4 to 20; even offering footwear options from sizes 9 to 15.

Always staying abreast of tall girl needs and wants, they are bringing you a hot holiday collection which we are pleased to showcase. So tall girls, as your inboxes get flooded with party invitations; have no fear, Long Tall Sally is here. Here are two looks that will be sure to add the perfect dose of sexy to your festive closet.

Nancy’s Look

nd IMG_4699

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The Christmas songs are blaring, the sparkly lights are shining bright and fantastic holiday collections are everywhere! While shopping for specific events like office parties or that first Christmas dinner with the beau’s family can be daunting for anyone, add a couple of extra inches to ones body and that shopping trip can turn into a nightmare. Thankfully, Long Tall Sally is here to come to the rescue.

nd IMG_4865

Let’s start with these sandals, shall we? I know, I know. While shoes are the essential punctuation to a look, they are often discussed towards the end, but these are so hot that they deserve an honorary mention right off the bat! The great folks at DV are awesome for this one! These 4 inch stunners instantly elevate any look. Now, I know that some of my tall sisters are a little hesitant with wearing heels. To that I say, your statuesque frame already stands out! Why not add a few inch of fabulousness to your awesome self! With the added bonus of being comfortable,  these will have you dancing all night long!

nd IMG_4815

And now let’s talk about this dress! I think that it’s no secret that I love sequins. As a matter of fact, I will go as far to saying that every woman should own a sequin item in her closet! And this dress will not disappoint. I have said many times that I like to make clothing my own, and it still holds true here: I am wearing the dress backwards… Wha???? I said what I said! LOL Yes ladies, it’s backwards. I love the elegance of a high neck and the cheeky sexiness of a little peak-a-boo in the back.

nd IMG_4716 - sneak peak

This dress embrace all curves very nicely. The one thing that will keep you on your toes however (other than the fab shoes!) are the sequins on the dress. They like each other so much that they tend to want to kiss one another from time to time… lol. That’s a cute way of saying that the sequins have a tendency to catch on the dress. Then again, since you are in party mode, your arms are not supposed to be down anyway! LOL

To further add interest to my look, I paired my dress with this a faux fur stole. I love the marriage of textures here. Also, ink and eggplant seems to be my favorite colour combination of late. With this level of ho-ho-ho-mazing, be careful not to bump your head against the mistletoe! lol

Tracee…Ellis…Ross! Style icon, fashionista extraordinaire and the inspiration for this look!

I can still remember the exact moment when my eyes zeroed in on this hot little number on the Long Tall Sally (LTS to us cool kids:-) web site. It had all the elements that I love most about clothing pieces: loose fit, fun detail in the form of the cool fringe, and the black and silver ombre effect that makes me think of a cool print, and we all know by now that I got the feelin’ for the flava of a print!

lt IMG_5176

Now, when you’re ordering something on-line you just never know if the fit will be exactly right? Since it was my first time ordering from LTS (really, what was I waiting for), I was a little concerned about the fit.  While the dress was a little big for me, because of the style, it just worked perfectly. I love to pair this style of relaxed fit dress with a jean jacket or leather jacket to add another layer to the outfit and help add a more structured detail to the overall look. I went with this faux leather cropped jacket I picked up along the way many moons ago because I love the way it adds a little toughness to the look.

lt IMG_5282

Slim girls out there like me know that we are always trying to find new an interesting ways to get pieces to work for us when they were really made for a slightly larger frame. My trick with this dress was, rather than running to my tailor for a nip and tuck,  I threw on a slim belt at the smallest part of my waist to help allow the lines of the dress to fall closer to my frame. I still get the relaxed fit I love, but now the fit is more suited to my frame.

lt IMG_5433

This dress also has great movement to it as well. You get a little bit of that shimmy when you walk accentuating the swing of those hips and from the back, the sway of that booty!:-) The dress is well constructed and did not get crushed even after a night stuffed in my suitcase (don’t ask!:-) This is a great dress for that soiree out on the town when you want to be foxy-classy and sexy-sassy too!

To cap off my look I wore some dangly earrings and a pair of black, silver and tan pumps and i’m ready to go hang with Tracee for the night! Let’s go dancing Tracee!! I need to shake my shimmy in this dress!

OH MY GOSH – PURCHASE – those are the words I uttered when I laid eyes on this faux fur coat wonder!  So, of course I immediately retrieved my credit card to make this coat mine.  Ask any of the other ladies of Fab Four Fashion and they will tell you that I’m OBSESSED with faux fur right now.  The different colours and styles they’ve been fashioned into has just had me salivating!

In this coat I imagine myself as Dominique Deveraux seen here in the 80s night time tv drama – Dynasty.  I saunter about like a glama jama unicorn cause no one’s got anything on me, when I’m wearing this coat. Basically, what I’m saying is that I’m a BOSS! LOL

By now you’ve probably guessed that I built this outfit around the coat. LOL  I paired the coat with this nude coloured dress.  Its got great sparkle on the shoulders and a cute peplum at the waist.  I also love that it hits me just a smidge above my knee and folks I didn’t have to pay a trip to the tailor to achieve that – and that my friends, almost never happens.

This dress would be ideal for an office Christmas party as its chic, polished with just the right amount of sparkle.

Judy’s Look

I  was first introduce to Rebdolls by fellow fab four fashion member Gail who owns several pieces from them. I’m always impressed with the fabulous pieces she gets from Rebdolls. When we approached them and they agreed to work with us, I was so excited to finally get the chance to own one of their pieces.  There was so many pieces to choose from their website, but my heart settle for this form fitted caged bodycon dress.

js IMG_9981

I choose this dress first because I don’t own any clothes in the wine color family and colors such as Oxblood, red wine are very in this year. This was a great introduction to this color theme and I was  here for this.

js IMG_0097

I can never get enough of midi length form fitted bodycon, it’s a garments that can remix with so many shoes and accessories. Bodycon are so   practical, especially when you don’t know what to wear to go out don’t want to be bothered. All you have to  do is slip on this sexy number accessorize it up and put on your heels and you are good to go.

js IMG_0109

What I love about Rebdolls is that they understand what Fab Four Fashion stands for fashion for all, and its one stop shop. You will find items from size XL to 4X which alloys regular and plus sizes women to wear the same items. Since it was my first time ordering from them, I read the size chart and according to it, i took 1X. However I noticed that Rebdolls clothing has a great amount of stretch, so I could have taken a size smaller and feel comfortable in the dress. Oh well ill know for next time, because there is a couple of pieces that I’m eying hard and I need them in my life LOL. One thing very Important that I can’t live without when I wear a bodycon is the right under garment also known as spanx LOL, not to worry I will do a post about it very soon.

js IMG_0112

To complete my look I had a vision to pair this dress with my nice fur collar wine color which works perfectly with the dress. I simply added a pair of long gold earrings which for me is rare because if you notice I mostly wear small earrings. I must I’m loving the long earrings and will definitively add more to my accessories collections. I’m slowly venturing into new territories and I’m loving it. To finish I wore my cage black sandals with gold and silver studs.

nd IMG_0679

I must start by admitting that I did not know Rebdolls. I found out about the brand when Fab Four Fashion’s own Gail rocked an amazing crop top from the brand.  Then, I made the mistake of assuming that the brand provided plus size offerings only. I was delighted to find out that they offer clothing from sizes 0 to 28! Oh how I love it when retailers do that! Kudos for recognizing ALL the amazing bodies out there. Now Rebdolls, if you added some tall offerings, I will love you even more! 😉

nd IMG_0482

Tall girls, I know that you just read that there are no tall offerings, but please don’t close the book just yet! I am wearing a midi that is just the right length! This dress is definitely a good fall staple that can be worn in a myriad of ways: rock it with a vest with lace up sandals or dress it down with some cute kicks. I decided to wear it with a fur stole; fox to be exact, because I was feeling foxy! LOL

nd IMG_0704

It has a tight fit that accentuates all my curves!! As always, consulting the size chart is a must to determine what size to obtain perfect fit. Because black is always  so chic, I chose the darkest hue; however, my dress also comes in oxblood and olive. Whatever color you chose to go with, just add a healthy dose of gold baubles and you’ll be good to go!

Paired perfection…the nature of coordinates.  Two separate pieces, one fab look that will take you to the head of the class, and Rebdolls finishes summa cum laude  in this style category!

lt IMG_9914

This outfit is easy breezy sassy and I love it. The name of the game was effortless style. The striking colour  and sexy exposed mid-drift were all elements that drew me to this look.  I love when an outfit has that perfect trifecta of form, fit and FIYAH and this outfit is no exception!

lt IMG_9928

The material is light weight so, despite the long sleeves, you can wear it even when the temperatures finally begin to rise again. Also, the midi length of the skirt balances out the va-va-voom of the exposed mid-drift which is perfect since I prefer to leave a little to the imagination (well sometimes!LOL)

I decided to keep my look very simple, opting to where it simply with a little print and a dash of pizzazz!  The print came in the form  of these high heeled leopard print pumps which add some visual interest while the pizzazz came in the form of my funky oversized earrings. And just like that I’m all “Redolled” up and ready to go!

Vêtu de Joy

gp feat IMG_7294

“Dressed in Joy” to borrow the phrase from Vêtu de Joy owner and curator Mikaela Joy, aptly describes the sentiment that her clothing brings to mind when you scroll through her curated collection. Colour, print and style blend together to perfection in her bold pieces often boasting dramatic prints, vibrant colours and relaxed lines. Looking at her collection is like being temporarily transported to another world, where the weather is warm, the pace is relaxed and the people are always happy and well dressed!

gp IMG_7293

But you know the ladies of Fab Four Fashion always like to put their own stamp on things. This stamp came from colder climes, the great north strong to be exact, so our resident tall girl Nancy and our resident slim girl Leslie decided to show you how you can rock these gorgeous pieces spring, summer, autumn and winter!

Nancy’s Look

Vêtu de Joy, synonymous with the feelings of fun, fresh and style immediately drew me under its spell of relaxed lines, meets chic styles meets comfort. Once you’ve perused through the website or Instagram page the reason will become self evident! Seriously, you need to experience this for yourself (www.vetudejoy.com) you need to see this right now…don’t worry, I’ll give you a sec!LOL  Now that you’ve seen it for yourself, you no doubt understand why Leslie and I were stoked about partnering with them. They offer fantastic curetted pieces like these amazing faux leather culottes.

ND IMG_7528

No matter the season, you can just never go wrong with this foundational piece. These culottes can be dressed down for a casual lunch with friends or to do some holiday shopping (it’s just around the corner), or you can turn the dial all the way up, like I did here. I decided to go the luxurious route by pairing my culottes with a faux fur stole in a gorgeous shade of aubergine. I like creating looks that have different textures and just love how well leather and faux fur complement each other so well. I anchored my pieces with a simple black, long sleeved turtleneck – another wardrobe essential – an accessorized it all with a studded belt, just to add a touch of edge to this outfit. To break up this all black look, I punctuated my look with these high heeled leopard print strappy sandals.

ND IMG_7516

Now tall ladies, this is not a “tall shop” per se, however, Vêtu de Joy carries pieces that can work for our longer limbs. I am just a hair under 6 ft and I like the length of these culottes on me. What I also liked was the elastic at the waist. This means that you can move around and around without being concerned about showing….what’s cracking if you know what I mean. LOL

nd IMG_7518

These faux leather culottes combine form, comfort and style all in one gorgeous piece. I know this is a piece I will be able style and remix with many pieces in my wardrobe which is always my style ideal!

nd IMG_7217

Culottes: Vetu de Joy (contact for purchase) // Turtleneck: long tall sally // Faux Fur Stole: long tall sally // Sandals: Smash Shoes

Curvy ladies, you can recreate my look with these faux leather culottes and this turtleneck!

Leslie’s Look

Transitional pieces are key for anyone living in a part of the world that experiences temperatures that drop below 10 degrees Celsius, so I am always looking for new and innovative ways to transform my spring and summer wardrobe “collections” into the fall and winter season! And then in walks Vêtu de Joy! You know how people talk about seeing that perfect guy (or gal) across a crowded room, and knowing, just knowing that this was going to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship? Well, that’s the exact feeling I got when I first laid eyes on the pieces from Vêtu de Joy (accompanied by Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” playing in my head of course!!LOL)

LT IMG_7390

Let’s talk about these gorgeous pants!!!! Now, if you’ve been following the blog for a while, you must know by now that I love me a print!!! Stripes, dots, geometrics, squiggles, Aztec, African whatever! If it’s got a hot print, it automatically gets a double-take from me. But ladies, ladies, ladies…these pants which flawlessly combined my love of print with my love of color and a loose relaxed style are my idea of a little piece of heaven on earth!

LT IMG_7436

The mission I set for myself was to show how simply and easily these hot pants can seamlessly slide from season to season and this did not prove to be a mission impossible! Starting from the bottom we have the printed shoes. You know it just wouldn’t be me without a little print on print action in the mix which speaks to Vêtu de Joy’s aesthetic. I kept the play of print on print simple by rocking these pants with a striped black and blue pump. Simple and easy- playing off the colours already incorporated in the pant.

Moving up the line we have the indigo leather moto jacket. I opted to pull colours from the pant to incorporate into the look. I knew given our chilly temperatures, layering would definitely be the order of the day which is always so fun because for a slim girl like me, layering can give us more volume on both top and bottom.

I went for a black long sleeveless knit sweater with a long tail at the back to add an interesting dimension to the look. The knit adds some volume to my frame and lends to the casual feel of the look. However, the layering did not end there! Canada gets cold in the winter so when you can add an extra layer or two you definitely want to jump on it! I added a simple crisp white shirt to the look to bring in another colour and layer to the outfit not to mention keeping my neck shielded from those bracing autumnal breezes!

LT IMG_7420

But the added extra touch that I just had to incorporate to add just the right touch of comme des garcon feel that I was going for was this beautiful striped tie which I swiped from the closet of a man with awesome style sense, a sense of humour that will make you pee your pants and who still makes Nancy’s heart beat fast when he looks at her just so…Paul, thank you for letting me steal, I mean borrow this hot tie to make my look complete! I’m happy to take it off you if you need to make some extra space in your wardrobe! 😉

LT IMG_7478 sneak

These pants are great for summer, but can easily make the leap into the fall season! The detailing like the asymmetrical pleat at the front, is key to adding that extra touch-of-style to this piece. The loose fit allows for more room to breathe easily, eat a lot on that night out on the town and not have to hold in your stomach when you stand up! When you decide to order these babies, be sure to review the size guide, but note that the fit is loose, so if you want them to be more fitted you may need to go down a size.

All in all, these pants bring me that little bit of joy everyone needs in their day! Stylish, chic, vibrant, on trend, these pants  combine versatility with wearability and that adds up to what I consider a fantastic wardrobe addition!

Nancy’s Look

L.B.D. These are my favorite three letters. The little black dress is perfect for so many different events and situations. From the perfectly tailored dress for the boardroom to that perfect saucy number for date night, little black dresses always perfectly fit the bill!

Tall girls everywhere, this dress needs no introduction. This baby is from the amazing TTYA x long tall sally AW2015 collection. The entire collection is amazing, but this dress took my breath away as soon as I laid eyes on it!

IMG_4488-Edited-ND-AB

The fit of this dress is aaaamazing! I went with a size smaller: I love how it sucks everything in and keeps the girls where they need to be! The neckline – a very deep V – reveals just the right amount of sexiness. If you need support for the girls, you will need a strapless U plunge bra similar to this one here. In addition, I don’t even need to mention the sheer sleeves that hit you where the sleeves need to hit!

IMG_4413 Edited ND AB

I’m so thankful for all the ladies behind Taller Than Your Average and Long Tall Sally for hooking us up with fashionable pieces that fit our longer limbs! These pieces are elegant and most importantly expertly made. As Beyonce said, every woman needs a Freakum dress – clearly, I have found mine.

Leslie’s Look

Elegant, sophisticated, sexy, sultry, these are all apt descriptions of what an all black outfit can do for the wearer. Now, I’m not one who typically dresses in all black, but sometimes you just can’t beat a sexy black dress or a black on black on black outfit to say I’m sexy, I’m cool, effortlessly pulled together and incredibly chic.

IMG_4599 Edited Leslie AB

My all black look was all about combining textures and materials to create one funky outfit. The starting point was this funky sweater with its textured lace detail at the front. I was immediately drawn to this piece when I saw it knowing that it would be a great piece to add a bit of funk to an otherwise simple look.

IMG_4651 Edited Leslie AB

But why stop there? I wanted to continue adding different textured pieces together by pairing this midi-length faux leather skirt to the look. Not only does this skirt accentuate my God given height, but faux leather pieces are a huge trend right now that I’m happy to dive into so a double  bonus for me!

IMG_4509 Edited Leslie AB

Lastly, to  complete the look, I added these studded black pumps  (more texture), funky mismatched earrings and this leopard print envelope clutch. All black everything, I can definitely get down with this!

Ain’t nothing like an all black outfit my friends.  I mean come on black is beautiful as they say! I’m not going to lie, if it were up to me, I’d wear black all day, every day. LOL

IMG_4986 Edited GT AB

Its easy peasy because black goes with everything!  As my friends can confirm my uniform used to be (and sometimes I still do ssshhhh don’t tell anybody) black pants and a top.  I wore this “uniform” for work or a night out with the girls.

So for this look I went to my closet and pulled out this gorgeous top and paired it with a pencil skirt with flounce hem.  I love the “flirty-ness” of the skirt.  I feel like it adds a daintyness that counter acts the more edginess of the moto jacket.

Judy’s Look

IMG_4723 Edited Judy AB

I love the all black look, if well done, it can be very classy and chic. You will often catch me wearing an all-black outfit in the fall and winter time.

IMG_4782 Edited Judy AB

In order to achieve the perfect all black ensemble I often shop for good quality black pieces that I can remix together. This look is the perfect example. I remixed this lacy black top that I wore earlier this year in one of our first blog post called  (LBD four ways). For the “LBD” post, I wore said blouse with my black faux leather skirt that I wore in our  (Fall Look Book Part 3) post to create my look.

Sometimes going with the simplest outfit and remixing the pieces from your own wardrobe can be the best way to go, and your bank account will thank you!

To complete my look I wore my ear cuff earring and my Betsey Johnson snakeskin black and blue pumps.

Leslie’s Look

I am so feeling the 70s as some of you may recall from the post I did on this awesome trend seen here!! I love the muted colours the funky prints and of course the mega mini’s. This is one of the trends I was more than eager to jump into for our Fab Four fall foray into this decades modern day inspirations.

IMG_0398 Edited Leslie

This dress speaks to me on so many levels. The mod-ish lines, the muted colours and print and, of course, the mega mini lenth that shows off my gams to perfection are all elements that drew me to this piece! I think every woman should know how to incorporate just the right amount of sexy into a look. Sometimes it’s wearing something figure hugging, sometimes showing a little decolletage, sometimes showing a little (or not so little), leg. I like trying to go for one of these characteristics in each outfit I put together, rather than incorporating them all into one look, and as you can see, my  legs got to take top billing for this look!

IMG_0475 Edited Leslie

To keep me warm on those cooler fall days, I paird this dress with one of my trusty sleeveless coats in a muted colour. It lends an effortless elegant yet relaxed feel to this look that I just love and adds a layer of warmth since, I gotta be real,  I am always cold!LOL  This piece is also great, since it can easily be remixed with so many other pieces in my wardrobe which is something I’m always looking for.

IMG_0412 Edited Leslie

Ladies, let me tell you, if there is only one thing you decide to really invest in this season, let it be a great neutral coloured, knee high boot! I have had these boots which I simply ADORE since 2000! You indeed read correctly; I bought them in 2000! Yes, ladies, I’ve had them for 15 years and am still rocking them! Now, admittedly, I don’t wear them every day and have taken good care of them, but talk about getting a tremendous return on investment! The colour is neutral enough to go with just about everything, and from one fall/winter season to the next, they continue to be a wardrobe staple!

So someone grab the record player…or should it be an eight-track player…and let’s get our 70’s groove on baby!!!!

I went for a bold graphic striped print in the form of this dress as seen in so many runway shows for fall.  I just love the pattern and colour combination.  This dress is the ultimate in comfort and flows beautifully over my curves.  I paired this sleeveless dress with this faux leather jacket which works for the unpredictable weather found in fall.  In one day it can go from sunny and blue skies to over cast and breezy.

I‘ve always been a fan of 70’s trends, so it’s quite fitting that we decided to do a post about this era.  My 70s look is inspired by the hit show Charlie’s Angels. I wore my long sleeved dress with a tie-neck collar, and paired it with a faux fur vest to give a little extra oomph to my look.

IMG_0654 Edited Judy

I scored this dress two seasons ago at Suzy Shier at a great price. This dress has a 70’s inspired graphic pattern with colours like burnt orange, black and brown. To complete my look I wore my over the knee leather boots. I got these fabulous boots from Target last year from the Altuzzarra collection. Big feet women of the world, I know you understand me when I say the struggle is real, so when you find your shoe size on the shelf trust and believe you jump on it. LOL That was my story, I saw the last pair of  size 11 boots on the shelf and I pounced on them so fast I didn’t even look at the price tag.

IMG_0516 Edited Judy

Sadly, Target closed its doors a few months ago here in Canada, however I’m glad I was able to score these fabulous boots while they were here.

My look wouldn’t be complete without my Twiggy inspired sunglasses ( a gift from my little sister) and my signature red lipstick.

Nancy’s Look

¨I’m Foxy Cleopatra, and I’m a WHOLE lot of woman!¨ This single sentence takes me to a time when everything was grooovy! LOL The 70s comes with a slew of cult classics, timeless music and fashion that keeps on giving. I love how fashion from the 70s keeps on reappearing in different forms. This fall is no exception.

IMG_0942 Edited Nancy

For me, what’s most important is to prevent these blasts from the past from being too ¨costumey¨. What I mean by that is that, while the inspiration can clearly be seen, current cuts are a must. This is why I absolutely love this skirt. Pencil skirts are always a must and are flattering on all body types. The 70s influence came in the form of the stripes and the front slit. The colour combination is what actually first drew me to the skirt.

IMG_0841 Edited Nancy

I paired my skirt with a black ¨wrap top¨. I used quotations here because this, ¨top¨ is actually a draped open front cardigan that I am wearing as a top. Do we notice a trend here? Always staying to true to my ‘clothes-remixing’ self!

IMG_0833 Edited Nancy

The skirt is definitely the star of the outfit for me, however, these boots do get an honourable mention! I got them many moons ago at Long Tall Sally. I eyed them for what seemed like an eternity and bought them as soon as they were on sale (Shout out to Angelica, the most awesome LTS saleslady ever who kept her finger on the price pulse along with me!!!). They are chic and comfortable. What else could I ask for!

Stylish In-vest-ment

gr IMG_8752

Menswear pieces are a hot commodity in women’s fashion this season and the vest, so often donned by men for work and formal events, can transition oh so well into a woman’s wardrobe portfolio yielding endless dividends! A piece that can be rocked from season to season, and reworked in a myriad of ways with it’s closet cousins (i.e. what you already own), this garment is a piece that every woman should have a vested interest in! Check out some ideas from the tall girls of Fab Four showing you how to increase the return on your investment two-fold.

Leslie’s Look

LT IMG_8991-1

I could not wait to shrug on this oh so masculine styled vest. I simply love the juxtaposition of the straight lines of menswear pieces on the curvier frames of the female form. I think it can add another layer of playfulness and, believe it or not, femininity to a look!

LT IMG_9050-1

My theme for this outfit was “bad-ass babe in black and white”! This look was all about the coming together of opposites: black and white, structured and blousy, straight-laced and edgey and shows just how they marry together oh so well! I started with a base of printed perfection in the form of these black and white geometric print slim fit pants and this blousy printed sleeveless top. I went with a more fitted pant to balance out the looser fit of the top and the vest and went with this feminine blouse with its bolder print to add more visual interest to the look since the colour palette was so simple.

LT IMG_9144-1

Now, let’s talk accessories!!! This is what I consider the dessert (i.e. the best part) of an outfit: the shoes, the purse and the “icing” a.k.a. the jewellery! These peep-toe booties with their chunky style heel are the definition of comfortable and add the edginess I love to incorporate into my outfits. Normally, I would probably have gone with a coloured shoe, but I really wanted to play on the black and white theme…Now ladies, can we have an “ooohh” and and “ahhhhh” for the piece of heaven that came down in the form of this purse??!! I confess, I stole it from my sister and since possession is 9/10 of the law, it’s now mine! Femme Black , you are an angel sent by God to bring pieces of fashion flawlessness to my world! It is pint sized perfection and in this case, size really doesn’t matter!

LT IMG_8995-1

I kept the rest of the look simple with silver bangles and earrings and I’m definitely feeling bad-ass!

White after Labor Day??!!! Gasp!! I already told you that I dig white and love to rock it all. year. round! Remember some time ago, I brought you a Fab Four Fave called Vest-ed Interest? Well, I decided to bring it to life!

ND IMG_8750

As shown on my inspiration board, I decided to wear it as a dress. Disclaimer: this is not for the faint of heart! It’s definitely is on the short side. However, rest assured that I was wearing short shorts underneath and safely secured the lapel so that Mother Nature would NOT put my goodies on blast… LOL But with that said, I do love how my legs seem to go on forever!

ND IMG_8944

What I love about this piece is that I know that I will have many more wears out of it. And yes, I absolutely do plan on wearing it as a vest as well! But for the time being, and while the weather still somewhat accomodates, I wanted to show some skin. I also kept my accessories to a minimum to allow the dress to play center stage!

ND IMG_8681

So on my inspiration board, I paired this look with some killer Sophia Webster sandals. However – in the words of Kevin Hart – the way my bank account is currently setup… I had to go with Plan B. LOL Until, I get my coins in order, I opted to wear my dress with nude pumps.
