I just love getting together with the girls over a delicious meal – what could be better!

For my brunch look I went with the so called “Canadian Tuxedo”. LOL  Denim on denim was a definite no no for me, but I broke that all up by adding this faux fur vest.

GT IMG_9691

These skinny jeans are the bomb.com.  Now I know finding great fitting jeans or pants, for that matter, can be a difficult task.  When looking for the best fitting jeans, I always try to fit the largest part of my body first.  Yes, often times that means that the waist is too big for me but I just traipse on over to my neighbourhood tailor to have them altered and I’m good to go.

Next came the shoes.  I went for my trusty wedge booties.  Last but not least was this blushed coloured purse by Rebecca Minkoff!  I love this purse because it can be worn cross body or as a regular shoulder bag.  Now my “Canadian Tuxedo” look is complete.  Yo, somebody get me a mimosa!

As you not doubt all know by now, we absolutely love to eat! Any excuse to go out for a good meal is a good excuse for us to get together and hang out. But of course, we like to do it in style! My brunch look was all about stylish comfort.

LT IMG_0073
We’ve been lucky in the 6ix this winter and have not been hit too hard with the winter chill. So I tossed aside my winter parka for a cute punch of colour in the form of this coat.

LT IMG_0107

The rest of my look was subdued elegance. I went for a very neutral colour palette, donning a simple sleeveless oatmeal coloured funnel neck sweater and faux leather leggings.

To round out my outfit, I stepped into my leopard print pumps, threw all my “necessities” into my trusty LV bag and I was ready for my mimosa and some bacony goodness (sorry to my vegetarians out there. I just love my bacon!:-)

One thing I love is getting together with my girls for brunch! We talk, we laugh, and most importantly we eat.  For this post I will highlight what I wear for a typical casual brunch with the ladies. For this look I decided to wear a comfortable outfit that transitions well from brunching to running errands in the 6ix.

I chose to wear a nice blue, camel and black sweater that I scored at H&M which pairs beautifully with my camel “Olivia Pope” inspired coat.

JS IMG_0333

I wore my favorite pair of jeans which are my “Second Yoga Skin” jeans. These jeans are perfect for curvy girls like me as they fit like a glove and they do not cause the gaping at the back of the waist – hallelujah!

To complete my daytime look I jazzed it up with my grey ankle booties I got from BCBG a long time ago. The price was so good that I got the black ones as well. I don’t regret these two purchases at all cause ‘til this day I rock them and they still look like new!

JS IMG_0349

Awww … the struggle of having big feet makes you appreciate it all the more when you find fantastic shoes, and when you have them you treat them like precious gems!

The finishing touches for my look were my camel coat and this cute camel and brown coloured leather clutch, and now I’m ready to start my day.

Brunching is one of those essential parts of life!! That’s when we leave our phones, social media and worries at the door and just focus on connecting. This time, we chose to check out a really laid back spot so I kept my look casual cute.

ND IMG_9839

Most weekends, you’ll catch me wearing jeans. They are comfy, fit for all kinds of occasions and are just a must have for my lifestyle. Because I wanted my look to have a little edge, I decided to go with these ripped jeans (which I distressed myself btw!).

ND IMG_9883

I paired my jeans with a high low sleeveless turtleneck and my trustly leather jacket to keep the chill at bay. Tall girl story about this jacket: it was a gift (from my now hubby) and I loved the jacket BUT the sleeves were too short… Shocking. So to fix that, we took it to a leather goods store and they were able to find leather that matched perfectly to lengthen my jacket! When I tell you that we have to be creative! Finally, because I don’t feel good until I have a pop of color, I finished my look with these hot pink pumps.

Now pass the mimosas… minus the OJ LOL

Fall Look Book Part 1

September is here, and for most children this means back to school, suited and booted in new clothes for the first day of classes! The ladies of Fab Four Fashion feel much the same way as they’ve been diligently re-working their wardrobes for fall.  Join them as they show you what they are loving and wearing for autumn 2015!

Nancy’s Look

It’s so hard to say goodbye to summer days (if you’re like me, you sang these words to Boy’s II Men’s song… LOL).  While I will miss the gorgeous weather, I’m really looking forward to rocking everything fall fashion.  This season has the best colors and structured pieces – oh how I love structured pieces.

Blog IMG_7567 Edited Nancy

Designers have had us salivating over fall trends since their presentation of their autumn/winter 2015 clothing lines this past spring. While some of these “trends” are really classics, it’s always cool to see how they’re re-interpreted them for the current season. For me, that’s the case with brocade.  We saw it with designers like Mary Katrantzou, the queen of prints; Simone Rocha and Givenchy.

IMG_7752 Edited Nancy

I purchased these pants many moons ago and love wearing them around this time of the year. I just loved the print on these cropped pants (for the record, these were actually are cropped and not just too short by default #tallgirldisclaimer lol). Black and gold will forever have an elegant feel to me.

IMG_7616 Edited Nancy

I paired my brocade pants with a crisp white shirt and some black booties. Since we know that it gets a little bit breezy this time of year, I had to add my leather bomber jacket. I really love the whole marriage of colours in this outfit and I felt that the jacket spiced up the look a bit.  And just like that, the fast approaching cooler temperature is a little less daunting.

Falling into cooler climes is not my idea of a good time. I just can’t get excited about cool breezes that rob your breath, chilly walks to the office and the thought of not being able to enjoy a sip of sangria on a terrace under the blazing sun at 8PM. BUT, I can totally  get down with the fall fashions that we get to rock when the mercury falls!

I must admit that I’ve been excited about fall fashions since I saw some of the trends that were hot for the season during fashion week this past spring and here is one of the looks I could not wait to don this season.

IMG_6421 Edited LT

Tie-neck blouses or sweaters were not something that I would typically wear. I usually verre toward funky and this is a more conservative style for me. However, when paired with this leopard print dress, the funk factor is noticeably multiplied as is the retro “sexy secretary” feel.

IMG_6640 Edited LT

To highlight my small waist (and lend a little more curve to my slim silhouette), I added this slim patent-leather belt to this ensemble. I have a long torso, so I like to wear my belts a little higher than my waist-line to make my legs look even longer than they already are!

IMG_6410 Edited LT

Now, to keep with the retro feel this outfit gives off, I went with these gorgeous burgundy platform pumps reminiscent of YSL and oh-la-la Dominique Deveaux is now in the building and ready to create her “dynasty”!

Judy’s Look

Fall is almost here, it’s inevitable, we just can’t avoid it, so if you are anything like me and love looking fly all year long, you adjust and make the best of this colourful season. My first fall lookbook outfit is inspired by menswear. Oh yay! I love a nice tall man that can kill-it in the style category, and many menswear pieces can transition well into women’s fashion. I often see women wearing nice menswear inspired suits that are tailored to their curvier frames. One item that I particularly love in menswear is a tie, which is always the first thing I look for when I see a man wearing a suit.

IMG_5830 reEdited Judy

As a child, my dad always asked me to help him adjust his tie (aww, fond family memories). I also remember having a little red leather tie as a child LOL. So, I guess it’s no real surprise that for this look I decided to go for a “comme les garcons” type of style which is a departure from the very feminine and sexy looks I’m often drawn to. I wore a printed yellow, blue, black and white cardigan, with this fabulous white shirt that I found with a built-in tie. I must say I was relieved to find this shirt because it fit the vision I had for this look perfectly. Also let me be honest, for a second, I really didn’t see myself being able to tie a tie LOL.

IMG_5994 Edited Judy

I scored this shirt while browsing through Forever 21 in the plus size section. I love that it’s not tight across my chest and not too big in the mid section. Another thing I like is that the shirt does not gape in the front across my boobs and I feel very comfortable in it. Trust me when I say the struggle is real to find a proper white shirt that fits my body.

IMG_6044 Edited Judy

To complete my look I wore my leather-look shorts to give me a cool, edgy feel. I had a vision of wearing a necklace under my tie and having it look as though it’s also built into the shirt. I must say, I love how my vision came to life. It just takes my outfit to another level. The last piece is my wonderful black patent oxford shoes which I scored at Forever 21 a few months ago, and surprisingly they are extremely comfortable and they don’t make my feet look big, which is always a plus.

Gail’s Look

Ah, the fresh cool fall breezes will soon be upon us.  I’ve always felt that come September it was time to re-jig my clothing wardrobe – particularly my work clothes so as to incorporate new items so I can refresh my look.  For me the month of September will always feel like back to school even though I’ve been out of school for some time.  I fondly remember that my sister and I made our Mother a little nuts when we INSISTED that we had to have a fresh new outfit for the first day of school!! Ah our poor long suffering Mommy! LOL

Ever since Pantone dubbed Marsala (aka wine red if you ask me LOL) as the “it colour” for 2015 I’ve been seeing it every where and I admit that I jumped on the bandwagon too…it really is a gorgeous colour.

LB1 - G - IMG_6799

These twill skinny Marsala coloured pants are fabulous.  These pants have some stretch to them so they’re very comfortable.  The cut and fit are really amazing and they hug me in all the right places and there isn’t that horrible gaping at the waist which is the usual problem I have with pants.

IMG_7089 Edited GT

I paired these pants with a printed tie-neck blouse, another hot look this season.  I’ve had this blouse for forever and I reach for it often.  It always pays to have great wardrobe staples you can reach for season after season.

IMG_7056 Edited GT

That is also the case for this pink duster.  Again, I’ve had it forever and have featured it in another post seen here on the blog.

IMG_6777 Edited

To complete my look I wore nude coloured pumps, pearl earrings and my baby, my LV Trevi satchel.  I’m now ready for my first board meeting of the day!

Wearing the Pants

feature

Pants, slacks, trousers, they go by many names and are the bane of the existence for many ladies out there! They’re either not long enough, gap at the waist, awful fit at the hips; therefore, some ladies opt to shy away from wearing pants. We say, no more! If you like pants, then wear them! There’s a way for all body types to rock pants and the Fab Four ladies will demonstrate how they do it!

Gail’s Look

Black pants and a top – that was my clothing “uniform”.  Black pants were always readily available in my size so that’s pretty much what I stuck with.  Since starting this blog I’ve slowly been giving myself permission to branch out and try other things.

g - IMG_3409

This idea led me to these plus size olive green pants I purchased a while ago and never wore.  These pants are close fitting but have a lot of stretch so they’re very forgiving.  As the plus size petite one in this quartet, shopping for pants can be a chore don’t let that happen.  Remember a tailor is your best friend and secret weapon!

g IMG_3779

I paired the pants with this white vest that I wore for the “Off the Wall” blog post.  It’s quickly becoming one of my favourite wardrobe additions.

g IMG_3480

My neutral coloured tank top marries well with my vest and patns and was the perfect back drop for this statement necklace.

g IMG_4009

Let’s pause and have a moment of silence for this Louis Vuitton purse. I splurged a few years ago on this beauty and I’ve never regretted it! Finally I completed my look with nude coloured pumps.

For my pants look I chose to wear printed loose jogger pants and I just love how they fit my curves. I found these beautiful printed joggers by fluke at Forever 21 in the curvy section a few weeks ago. The material is light and I love the mix of colours, which just so happen to be perfect for summer.

j IMG_5210

What I love about the cut of this style of pants is that I can pair them with a cute crop top or a dress shirt, but for my pants look I chose to wear it with a simple white tank top and my mama’s yellow blazer. What more can I say, I just love buying items that can serve multiple purposes. That way I know I will get my money’s worth.

j IMG_5389

I topped-off my look with my strappy 3 inch heel sandals with silver stones. I absolutely love these super cute sandals and I can wear them all day without having to worry about my feet hurting. To accessorize my look I wore my favorite pearly Zara necklace and a classic tiffany charm bracelet.

Leslie’s Look

Summer is finally here and it’s time to jump into some fun colours and plunge into some cool trends! One trend I was eager to nose-dive into is culottes. Both Nancy and Gail have done some amazing Fab Four Fave’s on this hot little number and I figured I would be happy to be the one to bring this “Fave” to living colour.

l IMG_4126I consider these pale blue high waisted pants to be a mix between a cropped pant and culottes. They don’t have the extremely wide leg most notable about culottes, but still have enough of that wide leg look to be likened to them. I found that, on my slim frame, the wide leg culottes can sometimes be a bit overpowering, making my legs look a bit like “Puss in Boots” from Shrek! LOL That is not to say that I wouldn’t find a wide leg culotte that would fit just right, I am just counceling my slim ladies out there to ensure that you get the right fit with this trend. Don’t go too baggy or you might be drowned in fabric!

l IMG_4920

I decided to keep this look cool and simple, opting for a simple white crop top and blush coloured pumps that perfectly complimented the look. I then pulled it all together with this gorgeous blue moto style leather jacket that haunted my dreams last summer until I brought it home. It offers the perfect punch of colour. One wonderful thing about this jacket is that there was no need to lengthen the sleeves as, even though I took the smallest size, the sleeves were the perfect length for my long arms!

l IMG_4726

The final touch for this look was this funky necklace I scooped up from my friendly neighbourhood Zara adding a fun final flare to the look. Summertime here I come!

There was a time when I would sigh deeply at the thought of shopping for pants. They were always too short. It’s still the case for the most part at a brick and mortar store but thank goodness for online shopping! I’m a 34’-36’ inseam so finding the right length pants is quite the task.

IMG_2533

I’ve had some success (online) with J Crew, Ann Taylor and Alloy Apparel. But it’s always nice to have the option to walk in a store and just find a pair of pants that fit. I must say that I’ve often been surprised by the pants selection at Zara! And this is where I scored these cobalt ones.

IMG_3009

These belted high waisted pants fit perfectly. The flared fit is great for the summer and these pants are easily dressed up and down. Here, I’m wearing my pants with a simple sweetheart neckline tube top.

IMG_3161

I accessorized with a statement necklace, a bright yellow clutch and a fun bangle. And with that, I was ready to enjoy the first days of summer!

Def Leopard

leopard collage

My name is Leslie, and I’m a printaholic. Polka dots, paisleys, African or Aztec, whatever the print, I just love ’em all! But, of late, I’ve been noticing that one print in particular has been claiming valuable real estate space in my closet over the last few seasons, and that is leopard! From handbags and shoes, to dresses and pants, I have at least one item in this fierce animal print, and I’m always more than ready to add to my ever-increasing collection!

From work to play, a leopard print wardrobe element can take an outfit from zero to 100 real quick! Don’t just rock that leopard print scarf and call it a day, throw on one of these wardrobe must haves to take your outfit from “hmm” to “HOT”!  So, move over Mufasa, there’s a new King in town!

For Work, But

L - IMG_8435 (1)

As I’ve been saying, I can wear leopard print any-day-all-day (yes, I did just snap my fingers with each of those words.)   Oh and by the way, Mother Nature was my Beyonce wind machine for this photo shoot lol.

L - IMG_8469

For my work colleagues reading this right now, you know you recognize this first look since it’s in my regular work rotation and I still continue to receive compliments on it (thanks guys)! So my advice, don’t be afraid to rock that leopard print with colours other than black & beige!

L - IMG_8462

This look is my ode to my hometown of Montreal! Every Thursday, after a long day at the sweatshop, um I mean work, we’d head out for a “cinq à sept”, a.k.a. “happy hour” and I’d always do a little remix to my look to take it from day to evening. A quick update to my earrings and shoes and I’m ready for a martini and some soulful house tunes!

Throw on a fitted black blazer, with these fabulous pants, and this outfit looks stylish and sophisticated and still keeps that “funk” factor that I need in my wardrobe!
