RUE107: PART 2

grp IMG_2121

Rue 107 is about celebrating women and fashion, and helping them bring out their inner confidence! We, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion, are here for this and were more than happy to jump into four hot looks that compliment our curves and express our inner divas!

grp IMG_2158

See what happened when Fab Four Fashion and Rue 107 collide!

Nancy’s Look

Another day, another great find! Their tag line – Home of Confidence and Curves – says it all. I had seen Rue 107 but I did not know that they catered to all body types. AND I did not know that the founder was a fellow Haitian! Sa kap fet!! Now that this is out of the way, let’s dig in on the great finds.

ND IMG_2258

This saucy two piece made me forget that  -100 degree weather is at our doorsteps LOL. I fully embrace this resort piece that I will break out during my next vacation.

First off, the fit on these pieces is impeccable. The stretchy material embraces ones curves quite nicely. Despite not being a “tall line”, the length of the skirt worked really well with my long gams. The length of the crop top works really well too. It’s not too short where my entire mid section would be exposed.

ND IMG_2293

Then, the design is also on point. That peplum details on the skirt is the cutest. For someone who isn’t super “hip-py”, this sort of detail adds volume where it’s most needed. This allows me to compete with the Judy’s and the Gail’s of the world! LOL Ok, maybe not… I decided to cross the halter top strings forward for an interesting lookND IMG_2453

I wanted to keep my look in fifty shades of blue so I paired my two piece outfit with some blue pumps. I added two silver cuffs to give it that extra edge. And now we just wait for my winter get away where I can recreate this look with a bit more heat!

Leslie’s Look

Talk about a little colour to make a girl think of warm temperatures! This outfit is so great for you lucky ladies out ther that will be fortunate enough to be getting away from the cold this winter or who are lucky enough to live in warmer climes year round! But don’t be fooled, these to pieces can be rocked separately to create hot new looks that will work anytime of the year which is key for those of us that love to do wardrobe remixes!

LT IMG_2785

This white bodysuit is very comfortable with a ton of stretch to it. Paired here with this powder blue mini circle skirt, it can also be easily worn with a pair of jeans or a pencil skirt. Talk about versatility! And la piece de resistance is that it comes in sizes 4 to 24!!

LT IMG_2803

This circle skirt has flirtiness in spades! From the colour to the style to the length it just screams, “I am sassy, hear me roar”! LOL If you want to warm this skirt up for the cooler seasons, try rocking it with a cool tee and blazer or a cute off the shoulder sweater and some sexy over-the-knee boots and you’ll be ready to hit the streets!

All in all, spring/summer, winter or fall, you can look hot in this little number from Rue 107!

Gail’s Look

Ladies, I am showing up and showing out in this glorious 2 piece set from Rue107, founded by Marie Jean Baptiste. This collection epitomizes everything that the ladies of Fab Four Fashion stand for – stylish, chic, cutting edge fashions for ALL sizes of women!

GT IMG_2978

GT IMG_2973

This blue peacock 2 piece number is an outfit that is definitely outside of my comfort zone – but you know what, I’m going for it!  I imagine myself sipping a cool tropical concoction in some exotic locale, just taking in the scene.

The fit of this 2 piece number was pretty spot on.  I wore a size 2X for the top and a 3X for the skirt.  The only thing I would suggest is that, if you’re more voluptuous than me, I would recommend sizing up.

GT IMG_3019 re edited

Of course, with a gorgeous body conscious outfit like this, I highly recommend shapewear for a nice smooth look.  I’m wearing a bike shorts style shaper from Maidenform.

I rounded out my look with blue suede slingbacks, a pastel mint green clutch, and a bold statement necklace for extra umph!

Judy’s Look

Like I said in my previous post (seen here), Rue 107 understands that all women, irrespective of size and shape, want to be dressed in style. They cater to women who are confident, not afraid of bold color and print and want to celebrate their shape!

JS IMG_1880

For this look I went with a 2 piece high-waisted skirt and wraparound crop top combo.

JS IMG_1930

This print is bold, in your face and makes people stand up and take notice. It’s totally different from the common leopard print that you usually see. This print makes me want to roar, and screams “I’m bringing sexy back”!LOL Another thing that is great about both these pieces is the stretch factor, which gives you enough room to breathe while still hugging every curve.

JS IMG_1979

You would be more likely to see me wearing this cute 2 piece number on vacation at a hot resort, grooving to some funky tunes and sipping on a fruity drink with lots of rum!LOL. You best believe that this sexy little 2 piece will be traveling with me on my next trip down south!

The Fab Four

A Night At The Symphony

IMG_5646 Edited

Want to hear a little secret about the ladies of Fab Four Fashion? We love music of all kinds! Every meeting, every photo shoot, in the car, on the way to work, you will always find us singing or listening to some cool tunes from modern day hits to old school classics. So it’s really no surprise that we like going to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and that we just had to show you all what we like to wear when attending the symphony!

IMG_5627 Edited

Gail’s Look

A night at the symphony – I’ve never had the pleasure but certainly hope to one day.  I remember watching Mr. Holland’s Opus and getting caught up in the main character, Glenn Holland’s, passion for music.  When one of the ladies thought it might be nice to check out the latest offering by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra one day (TSO to us Tdot dwellers) I knew I wanted to come up with a fun yet elegant outfit.

G - IMG_7179

For a beautiful summer evening at the symphony, I chose a form fitting coral colored dress and paired it with fuchsia coloured pumps for an extra dose of color.

G IMG_7352

I added gold dangly earrings and a gold clutch to complete my look!

When the ladies decided to dress up for the symphony, I had the perfect outfit in mind. I was inspired by the elegance and class of the symphony itself. I just love dressing up, so any occasion is a good occasion for me to dress up LOL.

IMG_5689 Edited Judy

I decided to wear a flirty summery floral printed dress. Mind you, I’m not a big fan of floral prints, however after years of searching for the right floral item, I scored a nice dress on last summer.  I was a bit nervous because when you order online you don’t know when your item will arrive and if it’s going to look exactly how you saw it online.  Moreover, I was also concerned with how it would look on me.  Well let me tell you, I was very pleased. This dress is just as stunning as the first time I saw it online. I love the floral print and the pinkish color compliments my complexion beautifully.

IMG_6096 Edited Judy

For the TSO, I simply paired my dress with some gold accessories to bring out the gold colors on the dress and I wore a slim gold belt to accentuate my smaller waist. I wore my nice beige and gold Ivanka Trump stilettos (which I scored for the awesome price of $37, I told you my story in our previous Spring has Sprung post).

Leslie’s Look

I love my jazz, hip-hop, pop, gospel and R&B, but sometimes I just need a dose of those classics from Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn and the like! It just stirs something in my soul! The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has the perfect prescription to sooth the soul, both with the sweet melodies and of course the chance to put together a symphony appropriate ensemble! Now, don’t get me wrong, you do not need to get all dressed up to check out a performance, but sometimes, it’s just so nice to get all dolled-up!

IMG_9034 Edited LT

I chose to wear colour, colour, colour for my look. I’ve had this little yellow number in my wardrobe for a year now and never had the right opportunity to take it out for a test drive…until now.

I love this dress because the bottom portion of it is faux leather and top a polyester blend which creates a cool effect.  This figure-hugging dress highlights the fact that, despite my slim silhouette, I do have some curves and in the right outfit, I too can easily have that sexy hourglass shape!

IMG_9488 Edited LT

Since colour was the name of my game for this look, I chose to rock some cobalt blue high heeled strappy sandals which compliment the pale yellow colour of the dress beautifully. So ladies, not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m a shoe junky! When I saw these babies my eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets. I almost didn’t get them because I was thinking that “well…I already have blue shoes…I’m saving for my next vacation…I have too many shoes”, but I quickly began to do that thing we ladies do when we really want something…you know how we start to rationalize things like “the blue shoes I have are totally different…I haven’t purchased anything in days now so I can get this…I can always go on vacation, but these shoes will sell out”!LOL Obviously, I drank the coolade and got the shoes and I don’t regret it for a minute!LOL

IMG_9504 Edited LT

To round out my look, I wore  a bold necklace and simple earrings, and to guard me from the chill of those cool nights I threw on my blue leather moto jacket. So lower the house lights and open the curtain, bring out the maestro cause my soul is ready to be stirred by some symphonic sounds!

I have mentioned it before, and I’ll mention it again, I’m a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl. And while I could have stuck to my default attire for the TSO (swapping out for the tee for a more elegant top), I gladly ditched the jeans to match the rest of the ladies!

IMG_8111 Edited Nancy

I pulled out this sweet LGD – as in little gray dress – which I have had for years! This is another timeless dress which I simply love. The simplicity of this dress makes it elegant while the belt ensures that all curves needing accentuation are accentuated LOL.

IMG_7708 Edited Nancy

When you see me in what may look like a plain dress, check out the back, that’s often where all the fun happens. LOL I accessorized with a bold multi strand necklace.

IMG_8287 Edited Nancy

To make this look a complete throwback, I paired it with some snake print sandals which I also bought many moons ago.  Talk about an oldie but a goodie.

The birds are chirping, the flowers have bloomed, and love is in the air. This means only one thing: do NOT get caught out there, have your wedding outfits ready!

n - IMG_6673

There are always a number of things to consider when choosing the perfect wedding outfit, but the setting is probably the most important. For this wedding look, I opted for a long, maxi dress. But long does NOT mean boring! The satin finish of this dress brings out the elegance while the pockets and print make it youthful and fun. The deep V ensures that a dash of sexy is provided!

n - IMG_6399

I got this fantastic Taessa Chorny dress many years ago and it continues to be one of my favorites. Not only is the dress gorgeous, but Taessa is also a darling and great to work with. This is a timeless dress that comes out to play once in a while – I’d wear it monthly if you let me… LOL! I let the dress do all the talking and kept my accessories on the “tame” side…  Just a stack of gold bangles and some gold earrings and I am good to go!

Another wedding season is upon us.  It’s a privilege to witness two people you care about come together to start a life together.  For me such a special occasion means getting to play dress up!

I wanted to wear a bold colour and a print to keep things youthful and fun!  This purple body con dress hit the mark and perfectly accentuated by curves.

I finished the look with leopard print pumps. Voila, I’m wedding ceremony and reception ready!  Now all I have to do is flag down a waiter at the reception for a martini, shaken not stirred. LOL

Judy’s Look:

j - IMG_8617

I love the wedding season even if it means I’m becoming  the 27 dresses girl!  When I’m not part of the bridal party I just love dressing up for a wedding. Over the years I was fortunate enough to witness so many family members or friends getting married and just getting ready for such a beautiful event gets me all giddy.  For a girlie girl like me I love to keep it classy and chic for the ceremony, then glam it up at night for the reception.

j - IMG_7942

This year again I’m fortunate and blessed to be invited to 4 different types of weddings. Today for my wedding flow post I’m wearing a dress that I would wear for a classy intimate wedding near a winery. I was inspired to create a vineyard meets Ascot Race day look.  I’ve always loved seeing women all dressed up with their fascinator hats and white gloves.

j - IMG_8471

I wore my A-line silky polka dot black and white dress which I bought a few moons ago at H&M.  This dress is simple yet elegant all at the same time. I added my black fascinator to elevate my look and I wore my cute satin red pumps. Of course I completed my look by adding my favorite pearl necklace and RiRi Woo lipstick by MAC.  Here I come: Judy the belle of the ball.

Leslie’s Look

To quote Beyoncé: “all the single ladies, all the single ladies…” Have you been invited to a friend’s wedding at which they’ve promised to introduce you to that wonderful friend they supposedly have that you’ve just never happened to have met? Or that cousin coming in town from (fill in the blank) that would just be perfect for you? In that case, I say you need to up the sexy factor of that wedding reception outfit!

l - IMG_7076

For the wedding ceremony, if it is separate and especially if it’s being conducted in a house of worship, be it a church, synagogue, mosque, I know you know what I mean, I would recommend choosing an outfit that is more on the conservative side. HOWEVER, the wedding reception is code for “PARTY”! An excellent excuse to be glammed up with a touch of sexy just in case that “friend of a friend” or that elusive cousin turns out to be a hottie!

LT WEdding - IMG_7695

So for my wedding reception look I went for an elegant silver sequin above the knee dress. The cap sleeve and looser fit keep it from being club gear and the silver sequins help you to light up the room! The pièce de résistance though is the dramatic back. Yes ladies, the daring open back of this dress is the epitome of sexy.  It takes the dress from a simple shift style to va-va-voom!

l - IMG_3524

Since this dress is a show stopper, I kept the accessories a bit more on the quiet side with a simple bracelet and  stylish earrings. I brought in a tiny bit of funky with these multi-coloured peep toe pumps and a not quite tamed up-do!

And just like that I’m ready to raise a glass in celebration to the bride and groom and drink a toast to new “friends” and “elusive cousins”!:-)

Get Your Sexy On

Feature Image Size Sexy

Get Your Sexy On or Size Sexy were the two catch phrases at the fashion show the ladies of Fab Four Fashion attended last Sunday.  The event featured beautiful fashion looks designed by Annika Reid, talented singers Trish and Kim Davis and thought provoking spoken poetry by Dwayne Morgan.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Karen Ward of Curvy Canadian and owner of the fabulous plus size boutique Your Big Sister’s Closet.

The Fab Four Vanity Fair

Group 4

Glamour, style and class are some of the ideas we hope to share with you through our blog, so Vanity Fair was a fitting title for this post.  Through this blog, we want to help women who sometimes struggle to find clothing that speaks to their sensibility and style by showing how we’ve scoured the internet and brick & mortor stores to find clothes and footwear that makes us feel like a million scratch that, a billion dollars!

Judy’s Vanity Fair Look

My look was inspired by the glamourous covers of Vanity Fair….I know I dream big and why not!

I paired my knee length faux leather pencil skirt with a black peplum top in a scuba material, which I love because it accentuated my curves and offered great support for my bust.

I particularly loved this look because it brings out the bombshell in me and it makes feel sexy while at the same time keeping it classy.

And finally to add a little extra something to my outfit I added a colourful choker and my signature pink lipstick.

Skirt: Zara // Top: Asos // Necklace: Ebay // Shoes: Enzo Angiolini // Ring: Forever 21 // Bracelet: old but find similar here

 Leslie’s Vanity Fair Look

As I was leisurely strolling through Hudson’s Bay’s  Yonge & Queen store in downtown Toronto one Saturday afternoon, I happened across a rack carrying some mixed, largely non-descript, items of clothing.  Like a heat-seeking missile, my eyes immediately zeroed in on one particular piece; a gorgeous printed blazer by a company out of Los Angeles called Clover Canyon, and that was it for me. I fell in LOVE with their entire clothing line!

knorthphotography.fabfourfashion.054 LT2

This dress was my second purchase from Clover Canyon, and won’t be my last! Dubbed the “Matador De Toros”, this open back dress has a beautiful print that makes you think of a bullfighter’s elegant costume.

knorthphotography.fabfourfashion.061 LT9

One of the many things I adore about this dress is that the lengths of the sleeves were PERFECT despite the fact that I purchased their smallest size (x-small) to fit my 5’9” frame.

knorthphotography.fabfourfashion.053 LT 1

This is definitely a dress that holds its own, so I paired it with simple yellow pumps and a small, gold box clutch that would not compete with the bold print. I will admit, while I simply A-D-O-R-E this dress, this is not the look for the faint of heart. But, for the bold woman who is ready to make a statement when she enters a room whether it be a party, a stage, or a bull ring, she will knock ‘em dead in this sexy little number!

Christmas is always a great time: we get to spend time with our loved ones and then it’s score time on those Boxing Day sales!

Anybody that knows me, knows that I love bold colors, I love jumpsuits and I love a good sale, so this is a win on all counts! I spotted this piece at Guess. The funny thing is that I haven’t stepped foot in that store in ages, I’m so glad that I stopped by!

Tall sisters, if you’re like me, you’re probably weary about even looking at pants & long sleeves offerings from stores that aren’t tailored to us. Try it on anyway, you never know! In this case, the inseam was already surprisingly long, but I further extended the length by redoing the hem – I’m sure you already knew about this little trick!

I kept my fit simple by wearing some lazor cut sandals, my Superwoman cuffs and statement earrings.

Gail’s Vanity Fair Look

This two piece number caught my eye as I was perusing the Reb Dolls online store.  The site carries fashions that push the boundaries of what plus size women are “supposed” to wear and I love that!

Being that black and white is my favourite colour combination, I was immediately drawn to this two piece ensemble. The grid pattern is a nod and a wink to this piece from Balmain’s Spring 2015 collection designed by Olivier Rousteing.

I have to admit that wearing a two piece body con outfit like this is one is definitely outside my comfort zone.  For the people who know me well, my fashion “uniform” used to be black pants and a top only – but no more!

I completed my look by donning slingback pumps by Tory Burch and a clutch that mirrors the grid pattern of my outfit, by JustFab.
