Leslie’s Look

Want to make a statement at work? Show ‘em who’s really boss? Then this look is DEFINITELY for you. Fun, funky and still boardroom ready!

lt-img_2404

The “sexy secretary” cobalt blue tie neck blouse has a little funk to it with the voluminous sleeves but still caters to a corporate environment. The colour catches their attention, so you can hit ‘em with that innovative idea, that risky venture or even get them to buy in to a new way to do business.

lt-img_2501

The culottes are perfect for us tall girls. You never have to worry about hemming, they’re supposed to be short!lol This classic grey colour is brought to life with it’s wide leg style and when combined with this funky snake print belt and bold blouse is killa!  Who said conservative needed to be boring?

lt-img_2348

To complete my look, I added a pair of grey suede boots and a printed coat, because every boss needs a cool coat and now I’m ready to take on the lions in the boardroom den!

js-img_1823Going to Ziza Boutique is always a fun adventure, you never know what great gems you might find there. On our latest trip I found this red dress which I’m obsessed with.

The dress is the dress of all dresses lol, I never really dived too much into red coloured clothing, but thanks to Ziza Boutique I’m sold. I recently wore a stunning red jumper also from Ziza boutique, see previous post for details here.

js-img_1949

This fabulous red dress is called the Jade dress and its perfect for work, corporate events or other social functions.  You name it, and this is the dress. This dress is fitted  and knee length, with a belt which helps accentuate the smallest part of my body which is my waist.

js-img_1837

The best part of the dress is the sleeves. Yes honey the sleeves are puffy which takes this dress to the next level of slaying.

To conclude I wore my dress with my black studded pumps and to jazz up my style I wore my printed clutch from Papaya & Co.

Nancy’s Look

Ziza Boutique has done it again. The lady boss behind this boutique goes to the ends of the earth (literally!) to find unique pieces that will have you standing out without having to worry about a”who-wore-it-best” competition with others in attendance at your event.

nd-img_1755

This dress has the classic fit and flare silhouette that is sure to add curves right where you want them. The pleated bottom adds volume while being a nice twist. Also, the dress comes with the fantastic belt that further accentuates my waist.

nd-img_1664

And when you say “pointed flat collar”, I say, “find a beautiful necklace to accentuate it!”. So if you’re wired like me, you’ll be happy to know that gorgeous necklaces – like the one that I’m wearing – is also available at Ziza Boutique! Talk about a one stop shop.

nd-img_1771

I finished my look with these fuchsia pumps for a pop of color – you know me by now, yes? This dress is a great versatile dress which will get you from church to work in 2.5.

Gail’s Look

This mini dress from Ziza boutique is the cat’s meow.  This light weight dress is super comfy, features bell sleeves and is quite versatile which is as you all know a big plus for me. One could wear it with faux leather pants, over the knee boots or as I’ve done hear with these fishnet stockings from Berkshire!

gt-edited-img_2210

gt-edited-img_2248

I paired the dress with this houndstooth coat to break up all the black and keep things interesting.

gt-edited-img_2164

The icing on the cake of this look are these black block heeled shoes that are also from Ziza boutique.  The shoes feature a zip up closure at the back and lace up in the front.

Not only is Wilsons Leather known for crafting quality leather jackets and accessories but they also offer stylish faux fur wonders like this beauty I’m wearing.

gt-edited-img_1844

gt-edited-img_1818

I fell in love with this faux fur vest on sight.  It’s a 3/4 length beauty with pockets and a faux leather belt perfect for cinching in my waist or leaving it tied in the back as I did.

This vest would also make for a great layering piece over a jacket or coat!  I love my when clothing options come with built in versatility!

gt-edited-img_1764

I paired this faux fur wonder with a dotted sheer turtleneck that fits like a glove.

gt-edited-img_1878

I completed my look with gold accessories and polka dot pumps.

Leslie’s Look

lt-edited-img_3212

Don’t be fooled by the furs that I got…I’m still I’m still Leslie from the block!! LOL Don’t be fooled into thinking that Wilson’s Leather only does leather goods. They are about that fur/faux fur life as well! This GORGEOUS ecru coloured poncho  called to me from cyber space  and I immediately knew that I had a winner!

lt-edited-img_3254

This look called to my inner Diana Ross! I love the winter white as  it just oozes luxury and wearing the poncho as a top, exposing one shoulder, adds a little sexiness to the overall look.

lt-edited-img_3286

I love mixing textures, so paring my poncho with a faux leather, midi pencil skirt seemed perfectly apropos.

To accessorize my look, I just had to add in some gold accents. These dangly tassel earings and my “Wonder Woman cuff of power” took this look to the next level! Of course it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t add a little print which came in the form of these hot leopard print pumps.

So watch out Diana, I’m coming to turn you “up-side-down”! (just kidding, I LOVE Diana Ross!!!)

Judy’s Look

js-edited-img_1964

Last year I had a blast working with Wilson’s Leather, as I loved the biker leather jacket I got from them. This year we had the chance to work with them again, but this time around I opted for a more fitted leather coat.

js-edited-img_2127

What I love about this coat is that it fits me very well. There are 2 scuba insert panels on each side that make it more fitted to my body, and most importantly it doesn’t feel snug when I zip it all the way up.

js-edited-img_1982

This coat is perfect for the beginning of fall or early spring, and it’s a great addition to my wardrobe. The coat is very thin and soft so you don’t feel bulky in it.

For this look I went with a vibrant printed chevron dress, with a classic pair of mustard pumps and my Wilson’s Leather coat.

nd-edited-img_3536

While Wilson Leather doesn’t yet provide tall options (notice how I said ‘yet’? hint hint LOL), they do provide some very fashionable offerings. With that said, I – lady with the long limbs – chose this jacket for very specific reasons. Other than this jacket being simply gorgeous, I chose it because the sleeves did not have a zipper on the sleeve. Therefore, I was able to have my tailor let the hem down as much as possible such that the sleeve length work!

nd-edited-img_3041The other option I have is to extend the length on the sleeves. If you go digging in the crates, you will find a post here where I transformed an old dress into a brand new one by adding a leather band. I will repeat this by visiting my friends at Perfect Leather Goods to find the perfect fitting piece of leather to make the sleeves as long as I want to.

nd-edited-img_3000The color is rich, the basket weave pattern is cool, the wide collar, the slim fit need I say more?

I completed my look with some printed pants, a white asymmetric tube top and some orange pumps for a pop of color. This outfit will have me looking fly at my next brunch with the ladies!

Fall for Eshakti Part 2

grp-edited-img_2833

The ladies of Fab Four Fashion are back with part 2 of their ode to eShakti!

grp-edited-img_2825

Leslie’s Look

eShakti did  it again!  This bronze coloured tule skirt made my heart go pitter-pat when I saw it.  I immediately began having visions of myself as a bronze goddess dressed top to toe in shades of bronze and a lot of bling!

lt-img_2302

The starting point for this look was this beautiful skirt.  eShakti offers many options when customizing their pieces and I knew I wanted this skirt to hit me just above my ankle for a dramatic effect. But for this skirt, there was no option to make it ankle. Never fear, as usual I had a “Little Leslie Hack” to get around that! When customizing my order, I simply entered my height as 6ft 4in and voila, I had a skirt that hit me just above my ankle.

lt-img_2400

I wanted to rock a tone on tone on tone look, so I decided to add some sparkle with this gorgeous sequin relaxed fit blazer that I belted at the waist and a shiny bronze bodysuit.

lt-img_2305

Since I wanted glam from top to toe, I just had to make sure my feet weren’t forgotten in the mix! I opted to wear these super cute high heeled sandals with multi-coloured pom-poms that are just so fun and flirty (I finally truly understand what that means! lol)

And with that, I was ready for a special evening out on the town or an early holiday party!

Judy’s Look

js-img_2170

For my second eShakti look, I was inspired by curvy actress Christina Hendricks on Mad Men. I saw this dress on eShakti.com and I had to have it. This dress embody secretary femme fatale ready to take over the office LOL and I love it.

js-img_2151

This black and cream plaid dress is formed fitted, ¾ sleeves and knee length and I chose to get it customized and it came out perfectly. Even though there is not much stretch in the material, I don’t feel too snug in the hip area.

js-img_2176

This dress is great for work and boardroom meetings as well as after work happy hour drinks with the girls. All you have to do is accessorise the way you want and it’s a great starting point for a killer outfit.

To complete my Madmen look I paired this dress with my camel coat and wine coloured pumps and clutch.

Nancy’s Look

nd-img_2743

eShakti has me fall ready with this great window pane fit and flare dress. The classic print is what first caught my eye. Although I could have changed the neckline, sleeve type and length, I loved the way that it was shown with the round neck, short sleeves and knee length.

nd-img_2738

nd-img_2491

What I like most about this dress is that it’s a great transitional piece, and it works great for my 9-5. Here I’ve paired it with stockings, booties and a moto jacket, but it would work just as well with a white shirt underneath and some sexy pumps.

nd-img_2781

Dress: eShakti // Jacket: Topshop // Booties: BCBG (old); similar here

Plus size babes, eShakti has you covered as you can enter your measurements on the eShakti website and obtain a made to measure dress. You can also pair your dress with this jacket.

Gail’s Look

With this eShakti dress, called Alexandra, I was going for some vintage glamour.  I really like the mix of the two textures that make up the dress.  The fitted bodice is a cotton/spandex jersey knit while the skirt consists of two layers of sheer tulle plus a black lining for extra coverage.

gt-edited-img_2509

gt-edited-img_2627

The original style of the dress had a split notch neckline but I chose to switch things up a bit by going for a deep v.  In fact, with this particular dress there are 16 additional necklines, 7 sleeve types and 6 different skirt lengths to choose from so the possibilities are endless!

gt-edited-img_2617

So, to up the glamour quotient further, I added this gray wrap style coat with a blinged out broach.  I completed my look by adding sparkly yet delicate earrings and silver pumps.

Fall with Eshakti Part 1

grp-edited-img_1568

We have sung the praises of eShakti in previous posts seen here and here and we will continue to do so!  We love when manufacturers and retailers provide fashionable options for women of all sizes – now that’s fashion democracy at its best!  Founded back in 1999 by B.G. Krishnan, eShakti strives to offer fun fashion forward styles which can all be customized for your body at an affordable price.  Now that’s a match made in fashion heaven!

grp-edited-img_1495

Judy’s Look

js-edited-img_0524

When it comes to fashion for all and every fit, Eshakti is here, and I couldn’t be happier to collaborate again with them. This time around I chose this simple mustard fit and flare, knee length dress.

I chose to get my dress customized so I can get the waist adjusted to my body, and to get the fit and flare look I was going for.

js-edited-img_0602
I don’t know how many times I can stress the fact that I tend to gravitate towards pieces of clothing that I can wear in so many different ways. This dress is so versatile I can wear it in the winter with a pair of over the knee boots, and can wear it in spring and summer with sandals.

js-edited-img_0626

Last but not least, for this look I paired my dress with my printed blue and beige coat that I scored at Old Navy, on sale a few months ago. I added a fur collar just because everything looks better with fur, and I added my leopard print stilettos.

As I mentioned before this dress is available in ALL sizes so tall babes it can be yours too.  Here is a coat option in tall for you though which just so happens to be from eShakti as well – Coat

Nancy’s Look

image

Fashion democracy at its best indeed. When you see how seamlessly eShakti seems to navigate the fashion-for-all world, I really have to wonder if most retailers will eventually follow suit. I for one sure hope so!

image

In order to ensure perfect fit, I entered my measurements and once again, my dress fit me to a tee. The real bonus Tall Chicas is that, if the picture shows the dress being knee length, and you want it to be knee length, then it will BE knee length. What a novel idea lol.

image

The dress comes with a belt that matches its beautiful geometric print, but I swapped it for a belt that was in my closet (the grays ended up going quite well!) just to have that contrast to further accentuate my waist. To keep the chills at bay, I added this camel colored maxi jacket which takes the look from nice to boss in 2.5!

The neckline, sleeve and length of the dress can all be modified. How will you rock it?

Plus size girls, you can get that very same dress in your very own size! If you want to pair it with a jacket as I did, check out the one worn by our very own Gail here.

Gail’s Look

This look is my ode to military chic.  When I spied this gorgeous army green dress on the eShakti site – it was love at first sight!  The first thing that popped into my head was that En Vogue remake of “He’s the boogie woogie hip hop boy of Company B!” LOL  Man, I was ready to fox trot!

gt-edited-img_0789

The dress is made of a comfy breathable cotton material that has a hint of stretch.  I love the faux knot detail at the neck too.  Once again, eShakti has those wonderful pockets in this dress design that I just love.

gt-edited-img_0876

Next came this camel coloured coat, in petite plus, with gold button -again giving off that military air!

gt-edited-img_0814

I completed my look with patterned pumps and gold embossed purse – now that’s a  salute to style…see what I did just there lol

Leslie’s Look

lt-edited-img_0897

When perusing through the pages of Elle Canada magazine I stumbled across an article featuring some of the hot trends seen on the runway for fall. One of those hot trends lit a fire in my blood and I was determined to recreate it with my own little twist. The trend  was wearing pink and  yellow together.

lt-edited-img_1076

This gorgeous dress from eShakti, which of course me being me, I turned into a skirt is dupioni silk with a high low detail and beautiful front pleat. I’ve been noticing a lot  of pink creeping into my wardrobe of late, but when it comes in the form of a beautiful dress like this, who can resist. Image

What I love about this dress is that I could so easily where it to a wedding or special event, then to expand the “usefulness” of this piece for us ladies on a budget, you can style it with a top or jacket to wear it dinner, brunch or for drinks with the crew.

lt-edited-img_1040

I rocked it with this ¾ sleeve shirt in a vibrant yellow and decided to accentuate my waist with a wide brown belt. Since I love adding a little print whenever I can, I threw on my leopard print pumps, and for a little extra dash of colour (because I was feeling like being bold) I rocked this wine-red clutch to hold my bits and bobs.

And just like that, I transformed this dress from “occasion” wear to everyday gear!

Suzy Shier

grp-edited-img_9562

Suzy Shier is an established Canadian brand which opened its first store five decades ago. They now have over 140 stores across the country and online retailing which allow our American friends to join in on the fun. Suzy Shier gives us all the option to participate on the latest trends without breaking the bank.

grp-edited-img_9463

Whether you’re looking for a nice fit for the office, date night or brunch with the girls, Suzy Shier has got you covered – whatever your size! While a lot of their fab plus size collection is found online, this is the closest we’ve ever been to actually all shopping together. As such, it only made sense for us to play around in the Suzy Shier closet to show you how it works for a wide range of body types.

Nancy’s Look

nd-edited-img_0164-1

I have seen Suzy Shier around for the longest time but can’t say that I knew much about them. Discovering that they have been around for 50 years (!!!) is definitely a testament of their knowledge of women’s fashion. Finding out that they extended their collection to include our sexy plus size sisters made me even more inclined to partner with them.

nd-edited-img_0124-1

I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple options that they had available. I decided on a 70’s inspired look which could have me grooving at brunch with my girls. The fur vest is what first caught my eye. Suzy Shier does not yet offer tall options (see how I said yet Suzy Shier… please take notes!!! lol), so naturally, I fell for an option that would work for my long limbs. With that said, when I was looking for a top to wear with my fur vest, I found a black long sleeve one with sleeves that were surprisingly long!

nd-edited-img_0142-1I completed my look with some high waisted jeans which I owned and my purple pumps for a pop of color.

nd-edited-img_0091-1Vest: Suzy Shier // Top: Suzy Shier // Jeans: Long Tall Sally // Shoes: Aldo (sold out); similar here

Plus size babes, you can recreate my look with this vest, top and jeans.

Gail’s Look

Suzy Shier is a brand I’ve heard of for many years bud sadly could never shop there as they didn’t stock my size.  I was very happy to learn that they now have a plus size collection that features casual, office wear, and evening pieces.

gt-edited-img_9645

Suzy Shier’s outerwear collection immediately grabbed my attention.  The statement coat of the season is the wrap coat and Suzy Shier’s version can’t be beat.

I love the large wide lapels and the gorgeous shade of gray is a classic that can be dressed up or down.

gt-edited-img_9700

So, after nabbing the coat I immediately fell in love with these faux leather pants.  What’s neat about them is that the back are made of stretchy ponti material while the front are faux leather.  To say that these pants are comfortable is an understatement.  I could wear them all day!  The cut of the pants is such that they are form-fitting but as I said before they’re very comfortable.

gt-edited-img_9669

So to up the sexiness factor a little I reached for this black, see through, mock turtleneck top.  If you’re a little on the shy side you can layer a tank top underneath.

To complete my look I added striped pumps and my beloved Alexander Wang cross body purse.

Leslie’s Look

LIKE  A SEXY BOSS! This is how this outfit from Suzy Shier makes me feel! If you are a dedicated follower of the blog, you may have noted that I don’t often wear a lot  of lace in my outfits. Despite the fact that this has been a HUGE trend of late, I just couldn’t get on the band wagon, until now that is. This sexy number changed the game!

lt-edited-img_0394

I love that it is fitted and sleeveless and sports a sexy keyhole at the back. The dress on it’s own was a winner, but add in this beautiful pale pink wrap coat? Ladies, I was seeing stars!

lt-edited-img_0319

I love how the coat softens the black colour in the dress and causes the lining of the dress to read pink. The style of the coat is also perfectly on trend. But best of all y’all was the price! Talk about affordable. One thing I can say about Suzy Shier is they understand the definition of the word sale. They are always having great deals on their pieces allowing for a shopaholic like me to clean up!LOL

lt-edited-img_0425

Styling this look was absolutely effortless. Once I added the coat, all I needed was a little gold bling. Bold earrings and cuff bracelets rounded out the look, and with that , I was ready to paint the town red (or pink in this instance:-)

I’m the first to admit I rarely go shopping at Suzy Shier. However when the chance presented itself for us to work with them, I immediately went on their website to see what I could score from their collection.

js-edited-img_9913

I found this cute black sleeveless turtleneck dress, I’m happy to report that I’m quite content with it. This dress is perfect for the cold weather, I can layer it up with a nice sweater, wear it as is, or style it up for a Friday night lounge.

js-edited-img_0006

You all know the saying, “Good Things Come in Small Packages, well, Eloquii took that to heart when they created their plus size petite collection. I have waxed poetic about how much I love this online retailer and have described it as being the BCBG or Zara of the plus size fashion world!

So, for this look I was going for all out glama! This black dress with faux leather details at the bust is simply divine. And most importantly, I didn’t need to take it to the tailor to have either the sleeves or hem taken up. Yay! The hemline ended just above my knee. The material of the dress hugs my curves beautifully and its super comfortable.

Fall Out of Summer

grp-img_6463

grp-img_6369Wondering how you can add some extra longevity to your summer wardrobe? Check out how the ladies of Fab Four Fashion transition some of their favourite summer sizzlers to fetching fall fashions.

Leslie’s Look

lt-img_5739

Don’t just fade to black because the temperature has begun it’s study descent toward freezing. There are so many colours that make up the spectrum, why not try incorporating more of them into your fall wardrobe and help brighten up those autumn days.

lt-img_5843

My look was all about colour! I truly feel that we should all extend those beautiful summer colours into fall! This is one of my favourite outfits  to wear to the office! I always feel great in  it (even when I wake up feeling like I look like Frankenstein’s bride!LOL).

lt-img_5850

The accessorizing of this look was very simple. Cool earrings, neutral pumps and a gold bangle and I was ready for after work drinks with the crew!

So the moral of the story is, don’t leave behind all those summer colours just because the trees are putting on their peacock like show. Strut your stuff in colour this season and give the tress a little colour competition!

Judy’s Look

js-img_5902It’s always great to have pieces of clothing that transition well from summer to fall. Whenever I get a chance to be creative I mix and match these pieces very well.

js-img_6044For this fall look, I decided to use my Mélange Mode African print skirt. I absolutely love the print of this skirt, and the fact that I can wear it in the summer with a brighter top (see Melange Mode post), and switch it up in the fall is a huge bonus to me. For my look I paired my skirt with a simple denim shirt. Since fall is all about coats and jackets, I also threw on my fave camel coat.

js-img_5907I would wear this outfit not only for work, but for one of the various events happening during fall. To complete my look, I added a pop-up colour, with a pair of wine suede pumps and a clutch.

When fall is around the corner, I know that I am eager to pull out my boots and coats and all those cool layers. But considering this weather, we are not quite there yet. That’s when transitioning your summer wardrobe becomes key. With that said, I have cheated a little bit. My transitional piece is this leather skirt. Leather used to be more of a fall/winter material but clearly, it’s now worn year round. So to be fall ready, I only had to swap out my crop top for an oversized sweatshirt.

nd-img_6195

nd-img_6188I love the oversize sleeves – which tall girls works for us! #winning. I finished my look with some striped pumps and a sexy handbag (which may or may not be the property of another Fab Four Fashion member… LOL).

Until Mother Nature decides to dip the mercury where we can wear our autumn best, I will continue to dip around in my summer wardrobe!

Fall is here and I’m all for it.  For my fall look I shopped my closet and my sister Leslie’s too LOL. I went all the way back to our Fab Four Fashion Pants post for inspiration.  I took my olive green jeans and paired them with this long sleeved blush coloured bodysuit that I recently acquired.  I love this particular colour combination.

gt-img_5448

I then swiped Leslie’s oatmeal coloured vest for added warmth.

gt-img_5566

For some sparkle and glama, yes, I mean glama LOL, I added these gold studded ankle strap flats. With that my fall transitional outfit is complete.

Judy Look Aug16
Fall is here and we can’t escape it, therefore it’s time to start layering up! I love wearing a trench coat in the beginning of fall as it’s a great transition piece. For this fall look, I went for an outfitthat reminds me of Inspector Gadget LOL. If you don’t know who that is Google him, it’s a classic old school cartoon.

Judy Look Aug16

I wore one of my favorite work pants which are called Peg Trousers with Obi-tie from ASOS. I love these pants so much that I bought them in green as well, and plan to buy them in a few more colours. What I simply love about these pants is the high waist with the built-in belt. The look fits my curvy frame perfectly, by accentuating the smallest part of my body, and gives me enough room in the hip area. What’s also nice about these pants is that I can dress them down with cool flats, or dress them up with a nice pair of heels. These pants can take you from the boardroom environment to the bar at happy hour.

Judy Look Aug16

Finding well made, tailored shirts and blouses that fit properly has always been a struggle for me. However, I’ve managed to identifiy a few go-to stores that I can rely on to find a shirt that fits my chest area well, without the awkward situation of having my button pop while talking to co-workers. LOL Yep,  true story, it happened to me. My go-to stores for dress shirts are Forever 21 Plus, ASOS and Eloquii.

Judy Look Aug16

To complete my look I donned a trench coat to combat those cool early fall breezes, and wore my Ivanka Trump pumps.

And just like that, I’m ready to tackle any situation, the only thing missing is my Inspector Gadget hat.

Hats Off to David Dunkley!

dsc_4243

Ever put an outfit together and just feel like something is missing? That’s because something probably is! In a bygone era a gentile woman would not even think of leaving her home without first donning her bonnet; or spend hours at the milliners trying to find the perfect artfully sculpted headpiece to compliment her gown.  If you’re looking for THE exquisite hat or fascinator to cause a stir at your next event, one need look no further than David Dunkley!

Having studied with formal royal milliner to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, David’s creations have also graced the head of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.

David is an award winning designer and is also the official milliner of the Queen’s Plate.  As you can imagine, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are beyond excited to have had the chance to wear fascinators from David’s private collection when we walked the red carpet at the Nordstrom Opening Gala.  Join us as we chat fascinating fascinators and outstanding outfits!

Judy’s Look

dsc_3856

Wearing haute couture has always been a dream of mine, but when you actually get to wear haute couture on top of your head, it’s even better. Who said fascinators can’t be a strong statement piece, well let me tell you about Canadian hat designer David Dunkley.

dsc_4068

I had the extreme privilege of wearing one of the David Dunkley’s fascinators which was carefully crafted, and hand made by the visionary himself. My fascinator consists of black and white stripes, made out of “peau de soie” which is worn in the middle of the head, and at the back a few artfully placed bright pink ostrich feathers.

And what could be better than to wear such a striking piece to the official red carpet grand opening of the brand new Nordstrom store at the Toronto Eaton Centre. What a show stopper; this fascinator commends attention and yes, it is a veritable piece of art.

dsc_4023

Choosing an outfit to aptly compliment this skillfully designed fascinator was easy, as I had a vision of a black strapless bustier, with a long A-line satin white skirt with black polka dots. The mix of the stripes on the fascinator, and the polka-dot skirt blended so beautifully. To complete my look I wore a pair of long silver earrings and black pumps.

I’m ready to take the fashion world by storm.

Nancy’s Look

Do you like to be a show stopper? Do you enjoy seeing eyes widen as they land on you? If you answered yes, then read on – David Dunkley is for you.

dsc_3776

This stunning piece of millinery is not for the faint of heart or those who like being incognito. The creator of this piece loved it so much that he retired this topper to his private collection. Can you blame him? It’s simply stunning. The skillfully crafted flowers are accentuated by black feathers to create this newspaper printed chef-d’oeuvre. I tried on many amazing pieces but my heart literally skipped a beat when the master milliner pulled the ONE from a secret back room.

dsc_3843

This gorgeous hat in classic black and white goes with pretty much anything. I chose to carry this color pallet to the rest of my outfit. The gorgeous dress that I am rocking is made of scuba material and hugs my figure right where I want it. The cut out adds just the right dose of sexiness. If you have a wedding, birthday or just want to exercise your right to be hot, you can RENT this beauty for the weekend. No need to commit and they will dry clean it for you!

Always needing a pop of color, I had to pull out my red lipstick.

Gail’s Look

Entering David Dunkley’s boutique is like stepping into a fanciful jewelry box where all the hats and fascinators on display shine bright like Harry Winston diamonds.  I have a particular obsession with hats so you can imagine that I felt as though I died and went to fascinator heaven.  I wanted to wear a fascinator that was utterly unique and feathers were an absolute requirement.  David of course, did not disappoint.

gt-reedited-dsc_3451

This fascinator not only had feathers but ombre feathers at that which culminated in a collection of silk flowers which frame my face beautifully.

dsc_3393

With a fanciful fascinator like this I went for a rather sedate outfit.  I opted for a simple black jumpsuit from my favourite online retailer, Eloquii along with silver pumps.

dsc_3328

I added a simple white jacket thrown over my shoulder “vogue editor” style.

Leslie’s Look

ROYAL!! That is how I feel in this jawdroppingly stunning piece of millenary perfection created by the one and only David Dunkley, and this triple take” beauty of a dress from Fitzroy Boutique making me feel like a modern day Cinderella (post bippitty-boppitty-boo of course)!

While it is not often one finds me in a predominantly black outfit, when said outfit looks like this, colour be dammed!

dsc_3546

It’s all in the details. Mr. Dunkley (are we even sure  the Queen has not Knighted him yet because really, his hats are veritable pieces of artistry), has created the perfect blend of elegance, sophistication and a certain air of mystery in this striking black and silver head piece.  The addition of fine crystals to the floating veil and the delicate plumes add that extra touch of glamour that I love so much. In this outfit I feel like a modern day film noire femme fetale leaving a grimacing Bogey or Cary Grant wishing they never met me, yet thanking their lucky stars that they did! 😉

dsc_3603

Now, what would a beautiful piece of millenary confection be without the perfect accompaniment? We love to find great Canadian boutiques, and Fitzroy Boutique is a gem! Not only do they have fantastic pieces that are perfect for any occasion, they also……

wait for it….

wait for it….

OFFER RENTALS!!!

dsc_3501

Ever see a dress you just love, then look at the price tag and stop breathing in case your breath accidently rustles the material to hard causing a bead to come lose or a feather to stray from its skillfully crafted perch? I know I have. Then I go into grinning idiot mode as I try to find the quickest path with the least obstacles to get me the hell outta that store!LOL Well, ladies why purchase that $900 dress if you know you will never have a chance to wear it again. For $50 – $90 you can rent a gorgeous designer dress for a 4 day period, wear it, dance in it, be the envy of everyone in it, then return it to Fitzroy and NOT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DRY CLEANING IT! They take care of the dry cleaning for you!

This ostrich feather dress I’m rocking, designed and handmade in the 6ix by Canadian designer Marika Brose retails for $845! But with Fitzroy, you get the look for less with a 4 day rental for $75!

dsc_3607

I kept the rest of my look simple to leave centre stage so to my elegant fascinator and stylish dress. I wore simple crystal earrings and necklace and wore my pewter coloured cage sandals and cuff bracelet to add a little edginess.

And with that, this Cinderella was ready to slip that shoe on her prince’s foot (size 13:-) What? 13’s my lucky number and I did say I was a modern-day Cinderella!(wink-wink)

How to Shop Your Closet for Fall 2016 Trends

GRP IMG_8927

Ladies, keeping up with fashion trends can wreak havoc with your budget but you don’t need to be Anna Wintour to be update with the fall looks of the season.  Why not shop your closet your closet to stay current with this season’s autumn trends!

Metallics

Shiny silhouettes sauntered their way down the catwalks at the fall/winter 2016 fashion week presentations. From gorgeous metallic dresses to overcoats that shined bright like a diamond, metallic finishes will be everywhere this autumn. But, ladies, these majestic metallics are not just now jumping into the scene! We saw them last season as well. Don’t be mesmerized by the shiny finish. Be sure to shop your closet first. Check out how Judy and Nancy rocked their metallics in previous seasons:

Suits

Menswear inspired looks dominated the runway this season and we’re not surprised at all.  We’ve waxed poetic about the versatility of a suit.  From season to season a suit will carry you through from the boardroom to after work drinks easily.  Check out the suit looks that Gail and Leslie put together last year.

Floral

Romantic, whimsical florals have captivated the hearts of the fashion world, and the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are no exception. These beautiful blossoms which dominated the runways for fall, are leaving us feeling dreamy-eyed and scouring our closets for any hint of a pretty petal.

Nancy and Judy plucked these fantastic florals from their wardrobes and will be right on trend for the fall season.

js-img_1733

Fur

Glorious  faux fur also graced the fashion runways for fall in a myriad of colours and patterns.  Here, Gail strutted her stuff in a full length leopard print coat and worked it.  Leslie opted for a 3/4 length sleeve coat with faux leather shorts and over the knee boots.

Gloves

Hearkening back to a bygone era, gloves once were the mainstay in a woman’s wardrobe, not just to be worn when the mercury falls below freezing. This fingerlicious accessory is hands down one of the easiest ways to jazz up your outfit this fall. So why not consider throwing on a gorgeous pair of gloves to round out that fall fit. Judy and Nancy were ahead of the curve when they featured gloves in their ensembles last season.

nd-img_3659

Capes

Capes worn as jackets or winter coats is another trend for fall 2016.  Both Leslie and Gail opted to include big statement necklaces for their looks last year.
