My favorite season is finally here and I can’t wait to bust out some of my cutest summery outfits. I tend to dress up most of the time for every occasion, ask anybody who knows me.  There are times where I just like to throw on a cute little summer dress and go on about my business.

JS Edited IMG_3038

One of my favorite outfits to wear during the summer are maxi dresses, they are easy to put on and can be very fashionable at the same time.  My latest find comes from H&M. I found this lovely maxi dress that has a great mix of blues, greens and whites in a cool pattern. The dress is stretchy, super comfortable and also is a great length. I’m not a big fan of maxi dresses that end above my ankles LOL.

There are also gold studs on the collar of the dress, which makes it even more of a stand-out winner. I like that it is elegant, and that the silhouette is very sliming.  Also, to prevent my thighs from rubbing together on a hot summer day, and to smooth out my lovely lady lumps, I wear shapewear underneath my dress which I purchased at The Bay.

JS Edited IMG_3024

I can’t say enough about how essential maxi dresses are to my summer wardrobe. I wear them to do my errands during the weekend, a little brunch with my girls, and I’m good to go. I put on my lipstick, shades, and my flat sandals and watch me slay all summer. Last but not least I’m happy to report that this dress is very generous in size, I got a large and it fits me perfectly. The dress is very long so I’m pretty sure my tall sisters can also enjoy this dress as well.

The best part of summer is all those BBQs and patio hang outs and day parties and all the other fun things that we get to do! And for all these we want to make sure that we look fly.

Whoot-whoot!!!! Summer is here and I could  not wait  to jump into my hot weather gear! When the temperature soars into the 30’s, I need to keep cool, and show off a little skin at the same time!

LT Edited IMG_2472

I happened across this little romper in H&M while running some very important errands one day (i.e. keeping up on what was in the shops:) If you know me, you know it was the fabu print that first caught my eye, and the style was just up my alley! Being a slim girl, I love rocking prints as they give the illusion of added volume. I also love to show off a little leg, to accentuate my height and show off those gams.

LT Edited IMG_2460

My mom used to always say that just about any colour combination goes in summer, and mama, I have to agree with you. I complimented the green and white print of my romper by rocking this funky blue and white necklace and a yellow skinny belt. I went for a neutral high heeled sandal to round out my look, and of course, when the sun rays are beaming, I always break out my trusty shades.

So let’s hit the terrace and bring on the Sangria because it’s a sunshiney day!!!

Summer is just around the corner, heralding the commencement of another wedding season! Finding the right dress to attend different styles of weddings can sometimes be a little tricky. But never fear, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are here and found some sassy, summery looks to give you some ideas of what to wear when you are attending that wedding.grp IMG_0604

Judy’s LookJS IMG_1733

I’m always on the lookout for the perfect dress. So needless to say, when I have a wedding to attend, I always have a little somethin-somethin’ waiting in the proverbial wings of my closet, just itching to make an appearance. From cocktail weddings style dresses to country style wedding dresses, you name it, I either have it, or plan to find it.JS IMG_1746

Let me tell you about the cute dress that I found that is just perfect for attending a cocktail style wedding.  I first saw it on a gorgeous, fellow blogger that goes by the name of Simplycyn on the Gram, and went straight to the ASOS site to make it mine! It’s a wiggle style dress in a light scuba material. The dress has a lovely vibrant, colourful, flowery pattern, with a high neckline and a small triangular opening at the back. What I love most about it is that it works so well for spring, summer, and early fall.JS IMG_1593

Composed of a light, stretchy scuba material, this dress fits me like a glove, hugging me in all the right places. To accentuate the smallest part of my body, I wore a skinny yellow belt to accompany the dress. But, most importantly, because the dress gives me room to breathe (which I love), I will have enough room to hit the midnight buffet at that wedding!LOL

To complete my cocktail style wedding look, I wore my blush colored pumps, put on my gold cuffs and some dangly earrings, and just like that, I’m ready for the next summer wedding adventure!JS IMG_1763

What will the bride be wearing? What will the venue look like? What about the food? All very exciting questions when I get closer to a wedding date. But most importantly, what am I going to wear?! I need to buy new shoes! Always a good reason to buy shoes LOLnd IMG_1967

When choosing what to wear, the type of wedding is key: you don’t necessarily want to wear a ball gown to a backyard wedding, right? If you’re attending a fun cocktail wedding, then this little number is just the right piece!nd IMG_2052

I love so many things about this dress. The color is so vibrant, it’s definitely an eye catcher. The length is perfect, which is key for us long legged babes. The lace adds just the right touch of class. And of course, it’s open back. All of this spells P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N in my book!nd IMG_2040

When granted the esteemed privilege of baring witness to a couple’s nuptials, there are so many looks that are appropriate these days. Those days of not wearing black to a wedding are over! But when shopping for that dress, my first goal is usually to select a garment that will get many wears in my wardrobe (gotta watch that bottom-line from time to time:-), and of course, I wana slay’em!LT IMG_1255

My second objective, is to hit’em in the gut with a pop of colour! This dress scores high on both fronts! The style is an overall classic, with the added benefit of the off the shoulder style being all the rage this summer; and the fact that it makes me feel like Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” after her grand make-over doesn’t hurt one bit!;-)LT IMG_1170

I wanted to keep this look understated, so I paired this fire engine red dress with a bold necklace, simple earrings and a simple gold high-heeled sandals.

For these vineyard nuptials I went for a pink and lilac floral off-the-shoulder dress.  The dress, while formfitting, is still very comfortable so I can dance the night away under a twinkling night sky.GT IMG_0929

While I was going for a sexy and romantic look given the daring neckline of the dress, the hemline hits me just below my knee so I’m still keeping it classy too (wink, wink!) LOL

ASOS For All

Grp Edited IMG_2708
ASOS: 4 letters which stand for As Seen On Screen and so much more! Indeed, ASOS responded to the increasing body image dissatisfaction in the UK – which is an issue faced everywhere really – by harnessing its influence among young fashion-lovers to promote healthy body image. They have funded and partnered with organizations such as The Diana Award which is an anti-bullying charity that works on raising young people’s self-esteem and body confidence; and also Beat, which offers a safe and supportive environment for discussion between those with an eating disorder. They even engaged with the UK government on this topic by participating on the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Body Image (APPG) in early 2012. The group’s objective was to uncover ways to promote a healthier body image in the wider community.
How awesome is that! Representation for all is what Fab Four Fashion is all about. ASOS understands that fashion is for ALL bodies, shapes and sizes and they embody the phrase “Style Beyond Size!” to a tee! See how we decided to partake in their fashionable offerings.Grp Edited IMG_2776

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m a sucker for a hot print. I know you all know this; It’s not news right? But did you also know that I have an obsession with the United Kingdom? You may be asking yourself what does that have to do with a hot print? Nothing really, but  it has a lot to do with many pieces in my wardrobe.LT Edited IMG_3750

I love British retailers!! They provide amazing clothing pieces for the masses and you will often find that their sizing is much more generous, whether it be for clothing or shoes. And ASOS is one of my all time favorite! Gail introduced me to them years ago, and I’ve been a faithful customer ever since!  Offering clothing in straight sizes as well as plus sizes and offering tall and petite options as well! They get that women come in all shapes and sizes.LT Edited IMG_3682

You’ve heard us say it before but it bears repeating….we love companies that offer fashion forward designs for ALL body types!  ASOS, a dynamic online retailer, began carrying clothing for plus size fashionistas back in 201o and I was beyond excited!  Over the years, I’ve happily thrown money at this company in exchange for fun fashionable designs.

ASOS really does it like no other. Fashionable. Affordable. Classic. Trendy. Tall. Plus size. Curvy. Petite. We don’t all come in the same shapes and size and we all want hot clothing. The good folks at ASOS clearly understand this. I dream of the day when they provide a brick and mortar option, but until then, I will continue to endulge on the world wide web.

ND Edited IMG_4330

Many years ago, in my rookie online shopping days, I made the crucial mistake of ordering a garment thinking that the UK and US sizes were the same… Well they’re not! LOL. Don’t be a rookie Nancy, and consult the size chart! I have since ordered a number of pieces from them (including shoes big footed babes!!) and the fit is heavenly for this tall girl (remember this tall dress where my “4-inches-heels-wearing-5-foot-11-inches” self couldn’t even see my toes???).

ND IMG_4085

Playing around with trends is always a lot of fun. Personally, I like to incorporate trends in my wardrobe but always aim for two points: 1. will it fit with my current wardrobe and 2. if it’s just a fun piece that I have to have, I don’t want to break the bank. This top here fits the bill perfectly. It has just a hints of ruffle at the sleeves and the stripes are just classic.

I paired my top with this a simple faux leather skirt which has just the right strech to accentuate you “assets” and allow you to walk pefectly (if you’ve ever put on a too tight pencil skirt, you will understand this LOL). I finished my look with my new favorite floral pumps because, in my world, stripes and florals just yearn to be together!

Ask anybody who knows me and they will tell you that ASOS is my favorite online store. Why? Well, they understand me plain and simple. As a curvy woman, shopping at any regular store in the mall is difficult. I rarely find things that fit my body perfectly or they don’t have a wide selection of the stylish clothes that I love.

ASOS is my one stop shop and by that I mean they have a wide selection of clothing. Dresses, pants, shirts, jumpers you name it, they have it.  Two important elements with ASOS is that they understand that curvy and plus size women love stylish clothes and their designs are fashionable, current and affordable.JS reEdited IMG_3164

Another crucial element when ordering with ASOS, measure yourself and follow the size chart cause their sizes are in UK measurements, which are different than US size charts.  Once you know your measurement you’ll be fine when ordering.

For this post I decided to wear one of ASOS’ classics which is the wiggle dress. ASOS offers a variety of wiggle dresses, this is a simple classic dress that has a Jackie Kennedy feeling. This dress can be worn to work, for a wedding or any classy event, in other words this dress is a must in your wardrobe.JS Edited IMG_3210

What I love the most about this midi length dress, is the fact that the material is stretchy, it’s comfortable and fits me in the right place.

My look wouldn’t be complete without my mustard pumps and my bedazzled necklace which compliments my dress perfectly.

Women Supporting Women – Taylor Jay

TJ herself in dress

Once again we are excited to bring you another edition of Women Supporting to Women.  Late last year we partnered with the talented designed, Taylor Jay, by featuring some of her designs (seen here) proving that there are retailers and designers that believe in creating clothes for women of all sizes!  Our collaboration created a sensation and went on to be featured as the Fashion Bomb Daily, Bomb Product of the Day!  Ms. Jay kindly took some time out of her busy schedule to give us a look into her business life.

TJ updated

Fab Four Fashion (FFF): When did you decide that you wanted to be a designer and what inspires you?

Taylor Jay (TJ): I opened a boutique in 2007.  It was my 4th year owning a shop when I decided I wanted to design a dress that worked for ALL body types.  I made my first dress in 2012 called the berry dress (dolman sleeves) slouchy off the shoulder style and long.  It became a favourite among my loyal clientele and in summer of 2014 I decided to add a few more pieces and create a collection.

IMG_9842 reg and plus berry dress

FFF: Did you have any hesitation about starting a business on  your own?  How did you overcome that fear?

TJ: I opened my first business at the ripe age of 23!  I was pretty fearless back then and I had so many dreams I just wanted to bring to life one at a time.  Young and fearless can be scary because you sometimes make many many mistakes.  I believe in prayer and whatever is in God’s plan so shall it be and  that is how I overcome all my fears.

FFF: What kind of fabrics are used to create your designs?

TJ: Currently Taylor Jay is playing around with Nylon/Spandex however our house fabric (forever) is Modal Jersey – it’s soft feel and great quality is amazing.  You can order ALMOST any design of ours in this fabric.  Our jeweled Nylon’s are so much fun and they give that dressy/chic look we love to provide every now and then.

FFF: Do you take custom orders?  If yes, walk us through the process.

TJ: YES and NO we will customize anything within our design such as colors/sizes and sometimes if able we can mix and match our styles ex: London style top mixed with the wide leg pants creates a new style jumpsuit.  We don’t do this often only for our special clients tha always crave something custom and unique.

FFF: What is next for the Taylor Jay Collection?

TJ: We are currently revamping our old boutique and making it our flagship shop for the brand in our hometown of Oakland, California where all items are designed and made.  We hope to expand in the online world as well.  We would like to open a few more shops in California  before we venture out of state.  We are also planning a crowdfunding campaign to help assist with our expansion and in creating a plus size line!  We will keep you posted.

TJ Clothes where theyre madeFFF: Where did you see your business going withing the next 5 years?

TJ: We see a few TJ shops and thriving online shop in our future.  Also looking to have our own trunk show business with independent reps that sell our line (similar to Stella & Dot).

FFF: Last but not least where can we purchase your beautiful designs and do you ship internationally?

TJ: You can shop our online store at www.taylorjaycollection.com.  Feel free to check our stockist list online for local boutiques that sell Taylor Jay as well.  Also, we encourage clients to stop by our Oakland, California store located at 3843 MacArthur Blvd.

Ringing In the New Year

GRP IMG_0776

The holiday party season just keeps on going and going! As much as Christmas has a special place in all of our hearts, New Year’s Eve is really the punctuation mark to the festive season. Like the big finale at the end of a great show! The cherry on top of that delicious ice cream Sunday or that final scene of the season finale of Scandal!lol NYE is when you want to let it all hang out and start the new year anew! You also may want to dance the night away, and should you elect to do so, you gotta do it in STYLE! Check out some looks that your Fab Four Fashion girls cooked up for you to ensure you make a splash for that big holiday finish!

LT IMG_9967

The name of my New Year’s Eve game was sparkle and shine! I wanted to turn up the heat with a look that would bring a little bling to the new year!

LT IMG_0110

Ladies, the one thing we all need to know about our bodies, is the part we like most (i.e. your best feature). Ask yourself, what do you feel comfortable showing off, or accentuating. Is it your tiny waist line, your voluptuous silhouette, that great bust line or those sculpted arms or back? Once you’ve narrowed that down, it’s a lot easier to select pieces to draw the focus to the area of your choice, rather than to the areas you’d prefer not to highlight.

LT IMG_1049

For my look, I wanted to draw the focus to my long legs, so I went for this mini sequins bodycon dress. You can’t miss the sparkle, but you can’t miss the gams either! I also love my back and this is another area where I like to show a little skin. So I went for this backless number that does the job oh so well!

LT IMG_0046

So ladies, your resolution for 2016 should be to figure out what your best feature is, if you don’t know already, and find pieces that make you shine bright like a diamond (not necessarily literally the way I’ve done)LOL!

Happy New Year everybody!!!!

New Years Eve is the time to celebrate with your friends and family and count the many blessings in your life. It is also the time to glam up and unleash your fierceness.

This year my NYE look is a “DYI” glam; allow me to break it down for you. I always wanted to wear a low cut dress, but since I was blessed with big boobs, low cut is not always a great option and in order to achieve this look I would have to invest in a whole lot of fashion tape LOL.  I have been eyeing this beautiful low cut forest green dress from Forever 21 for a while now, and it peaked my interest because of the low cut (of course) and my desire to try something new in the form of this shade of forest green. When I slipped it on I immediately fell in love, and while striking a pose in the fitting room, my vision of finding the perfect bralette to wear underneath came to life. I was determine to make this vision a reality.

JS IMG_9701

The dress fit great, but I wasn’t crazy about the below the knee length. I was also not a big fan of the split on each side of the  bottom part of the dress, however I was not worried because I knew that I would take it to my seamstress and have her fix it the way I wanted.  I was even happier to get the dress for under $50.

JS IMG_9646

My next mission was to find the bralette to wear underneath. I perused through a couple of stores with no luck, but in the end my favorite online retailer came to the rescue YAY! “VIVA ASOS”!  I went to the sale’s section and there it was, just waiting for me, this gorgeous black sequins bralette! I did my happy dance when it turned out to be on sale for the sweet price of $22.  My goal was to get a wicked outfit for less than $100 and I did. The last piece, I must admit, I splurged on though. This faux fur coat that I got from Eloquii is perfect to ring in the new year in style. Yeah, I could have done without it but, I just couldn’t resist this ¾ sleeve faux fur jewel of a coat, and I know I will most certainly use it again. I must say I am thoroughly pleased with the final result of the complete look, and so relieved that my vision came to life in such fine form. With all the alterations, my dress fit me perfectly, it’s very sexy but also very chic and the black sequins bralette raises the glam factor to a 10/10.

With my NYE look completed I’m ready to take the New Year by storm and to continue to explore my fashion sense.

Nancy’s Look

My look consisted of gold, glam and grace! Based on my height, I often describe myself as statuesque (I borrowed the term from a fellow tall lady who decided to change her perspective from seeing herself as “lanky” to “statuesque”… It’s all in the way you perceive yourself right?) So for my NYE’s look, I was inspired by an actual statue: the Oscar statuette! Ok… Not really. LOL But with this dress and all the gold that I was sporting, we playfully referred to me as the Oscar the entire day of the shoot.

ND IMG_0171

This column dress is made specifically with the tall woman in mind. I practically did a backflip as soon as I laid eyes on it! As stated in our segment, I was rocking 4″ heels, and my dress still touched the ground! How often does that happen? And the color, oh the color! It’s so rich and compliments the hue of my skin oh so well. It had me feeling like I was covered in liquid gold. The dress has a lot of stretch to it, so don’t be afraid of going down one size: I went with my usual size and ended up taking it to the tailor for adjustment  and now it fits perfectly!

ND IMG_0731

Then there is the décolletage, oh the décolletage! The dress boasts a deep V in the front and in the back. So ladies, you have to get creative in securing the “girls” and to avoid a wardrobe malfunction! I went with a deep U-plunge bra which is seamless, so it won’t cause any unwanted bulges. Alternatively, using some good ol’ tape will do the trick.

ND IMG_1121

I finished my  look with all the gold baubles I could put my hands on: body chain to add interest in the areas where my skin was exposed. Gold dangly earrings because my chains were dainty and discrete. Gold rings because they were just oh so cool. And gold bangles because, well, they’re just my staple! Honorary mention to the shoes that peeked ever so slightly! lol.

So now, in addition to looking like one, I’m ready to sip on a tall glass of champagne!

gt IMG_0293

I was feeling all “eye of the tiger” in this bold coloured leopard print dress chile.  This body con dress is the dress of my whole life!  I love the criss cross off the shoulder look for the dress and the fit can’t be beat.

gt IMG_0424

gt IMG_0166

I also really like the midi length of the dress as well.  I find that length is a great balance to the skin I’m showing on top.

With a body conscious dress like this, shapewear is a curvy & plus size woman’s best friend as they work to smooth a few of the lumps and bumps out.

gt IMG_0126

To complete my look I added a faux leather moto style jacket, blush coloured pumps and a hot pink clutch to hold my much needed items.

Judy’s Look

I  was first introduce to Rebdolls by fellow fab four fashion member Gail who owns several pieces from them. I’m always impressed with the fabulous pieces she gets from Rebdolls. When we approached them and they agreed to work with us, I was so excited to finally get the chance to own one of their pieces.  There was so many pieces to choose from their website, but my heart settle for this form fitted caged bodycon dress.

js IMG_9981

I choose this dress first because I don’t own any clothes in the wine color family and colors such as Oxblood, red wine are very in this year. This was a great introduction to this color theme and I was  here for this.

js IMG_0097

I can never get enough of midi length form fitted bodycon, it’s a garments that can remix with so many shoes and accessories. Bodycon are so   practical, especially when you don’t know what to wear to go out don’t want to be bothered. All you have to  do is slip on this sexy number accessorize it up and put on your heels and you are good to go.

js IMG_0109

What I love about Rebdolls is that they understand what Fab Four Fashion stands for fashion for all, and its one stop shop. You will find items from size XL to 4X which alloys regular and plus sizes women to wear the same items. Since it was my first time ordering from them, I read the size chart and according to it, i took 1X. However I noticed that Rebdolls clothing has a great amount of stretch, so I could have taken a size smaller and feel comfortable in the dress. Oh well ill know for next time, because there is a couple of pieces that I’m eying hard and I need them in my life LOL. One thing very Important that I can’t live without when I wear a bodycon is the right under garment also known as spanx LOL, not to worry I will do a post about it very soon.

js IMG_0112

To complete my look I had a vision to pair this dress with my nice fur collar wine color which works perfectly with the dress. I simply added a pair of long gold earrings which for me is rare because if you notice I mostly wear small earrings. I must I’m loving the long earrings and will definitively add more to my accessories collections. I’m slowly venturing into new territories and I’m loving it. To finish I wore my cage black sandals with gold and silver studs.

Nancy’s Look

nd IMG_0679

I must start by admitting that I did not know Rebdolls. I found out about the brand when Fab Four Fashion’s own Gail rocked an amazing crop top from the brand.  Then, I made the mistake of assuming that the brand provided plus size offerings only. I was delighted to find out that they offer clothing from sizes 0 to 28! Oh how I love it when retailers do that! Kudos for recognizing ALL the amazing bodies out there. Now Rebdolls, if you added some tall offerings, I will love you even more! 😉

nd IMG_0482

Tall girls, I know that you just read that there are no tall offerings, but please don’t close the book just yet! I am wearing a midi that is just the right length! This dress is definitely a good fall staple that can be worn in a myriad of ways: rock it with a vest with lace up sandals or dress it down with some cute kicks. I decided to wear it with a fur stole; fox to be exact, because I was feeling foxy! LOL

nd IMG_0704

It has a tight fit that accentuates all my curves!! As always, consulting the size chart is a must to determine what size to obtain perfect fit. Because black is always  so chic, I chose the darkest hue; however, my dress also comes in oxblood and olive. Whatever color you chose to go with, just add a healthy dose of gold baubles and you’ll be good to go!

Leslie’s Look

lt IMG_9846

Paired perfection…the nature of coordinates.  Two separate pieces, one fab look that will take you to the head of the class, and Rebdolls finishes summa cum laude  in this style category!

lt IMG_9914

This outfit is easy breezy sassy and I love it. The name of the game was effortless style. The striking colour  and sexy exposed mid-drift were all elements that drew me to this look.  I love when an outfit has that perfect trifecta of form, fit and FIYAH and this outfit is no exception!

lt IMG_9928

The material is light weight so, despite the long sleeves, you can wear it even when the temperatures finally begin to rise again. Also, the midi length of the skirt balances out the va-va-voom of the exposed mid-drift which is perfect since I prefer to leave a little to the imagination (well sometimes!LOL)

I decided to keep my look very simple, opting to where it simply with a little print and a dash of pizzazz!  The print came in the form  of these high heeled leopard print pumps which add some visual interest while the pizzazz came in the form of my funky oversized earrings. And just like that I’m all “Redolled” up and ready to go!

10 X 10K – I bet you’re wondering why we chose this title huh?!

IMG_8534 Edited Group Monif C

Well this title couldn’t be more appropriate and I’ll give you 2 reasons why. First, designer Monif C is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of her brand and second, the ladies of Fab FourFashion just reached their 10 k follower milestone on Instagram! To celebrate, Monif C. reached out to Fab Four Fashion’s curvy girls Judy and Gail to model her special 10 year anniversary collection and we couldn’t be happier to be part of this historic event!

IMG_8635 Edited Group Monif C

Judy’s Look

I have been following Monif C’s designs for quite some time, and have always been a fan.  I even remember when they showed various plus size models wearing her creations on “Rip the Runway”. It takes a lot of hard work and discipline to last 10 years in the fashion industry, so we couldn’t be more proud of Monif C! It’s also wonderful to see women reaching higher levels of success! (To quote Beyonce: “who runs the world – GIRLS”:-)

IMG_8819 Edited Judy Monif C

I have to confess that when they first reached out to us, Gail and I did a little happy dance and hugged each other while jumping up and down LMAO! Trust and believe over the past few months we’ve done many of those. The feeling of utter excitement and joy is all I can remember. For Monif C. to even notice us was surreal.  Come-on she’s dressed celebrities in the past such as Amber Riley, Jill Scott and many, many more!

IMG_9067 Edited Judy Monif C

So, to celebrate Monif C’s 10 year milestone I chose this stunning sequins gold dress called “Sasha”. This dress couldn’t be more appropriate, it screams glitter and glam! In addition to this, Monif C read my mind with this dress by calling it “Sasha” LOL Doesn’t this remind you of ”Sasha Fierce” circa 2005?.   The fit of this dress is great. I love that the layer underneath the sequins has a lot of stretch.  I really appreciate this because I hate feeling to snug in a dress with no room to breathe. Then again one can only expect the best from Monif C since she designs garments for curvy and plus size women; she understands our needs.

IMG_9212 Edited Judy Monif C

The hem of this dress hits just above the knee which is perfect for me, and I don’t have to worry about feeling too exposed. To complete my look I wore my nude cage sandals which worked like magic with this sparkly little number. I added a gold cuff and long gold earrings which I purchased at BCBG many moons ago and voila; Sasha Fierce is back!

And in 5-4-3-2-1 MIC CHECK 1-2-1-2…I’m ready to set the stage on fire!

Gail’s Look

Like Judy, the first time I laid eyes on Ms. Monif Clarke’s designs was when I was watching an edition of BET’s Rip the Runway!  It was the first time I saw plus size designs and plus size models sayshaying down the runway to cheers and applause and of course looking FIERCE!  I immediately went to the Monif C plus sizes website to check out the entire collection!

So, you can imagine my elation when we were approached by Monif C to participate in their Decade of Curves giveaway.  Judy and I have been great admirers of Ms. Clarke’s designs, her determination and her success in building a design house that continues to stand the test of time – what an achievement!

Liesl Binx: Contemporary Plus Size Apparel

GR IMG_1118 re-edited

Liesl Binx, do you know who she is? Well before you scroll down and feast your eyes on the magnificence that can be created in the form of beautiful shades of teal and blue let me tell you a bit about her. She is a designer, based out of Seattle, who creates simple but elegant plus size garments. Each piece embodies class, delicateness and high fashion.  She understands that plus-size and curvy women deserve well-made clothes, and Fab Four Fashion is here for this!  So, without further ado, we present you Liesl Binx!

Judy’s look

JS IMG_0537

When first starting the blog, I never envisioned that designers would approach me to wear their clothes. Well imagine my excitement when we received an email from designer Liesl Binx asking Gail and I to wear one of her beautiful creations. I was stunned and excited at the same time; first because – wow- a designer noticed me, and second because –wow- a designer noticed me (yes, it needed to be said twice!LOL). I was just so elated I couldn’t wait to see her collection.

JS IMG_0766

I ran to her website to see what she had to offer and I was so pleased.  For me, Liesl Binx creations are classic and timeless. Her latest collection is a mix of blues, purples and browns which are great additions to your wardrobe. I love that she makes only a few of each piece, which gives your piece that feeling of exclusivity.

JS IMG_0584

While browsing through her website I came across this beautiful, teal coloured, deep-v dress and it was like the story books say: love at first sight! From the pale teal colour to the flared princess-like shape I love it all. I am usually not that big on taffeta; however this dress is so light weight and fit so well that I just couldn’t resist. The material has a slight stretch to it which gives me room to breathe.  Allow me to highlight some of the special features of this dress that I simply adore.  . First it fits very well, and most importantly I don’t feel to snug in the bust area. Second, the skirt on this dress is just amazing! I love the full circle shape of the skirt.

JS IMG_0341

Third, this dress is perfect for an elegant cocktail party or a wedding. Fourth,  the teal colour compliments my complexion very well.  And fifth, depending on what colour accessories you wear with the dress, it will pick up the undertone of the fabric (how cool is that!).

JS IMG_0805

Last but not least, never be afraid to get creative with your clothing. To make the dress more voluminous I wore a tutu skirt underneath and a gold belt to accentuate my smaller waist. I decided to wear this dress with my gold accessories and a diamond necklace. To complete my look I wore my blush pumps, because blush and teal go oh so well together. It’s like the perfect marriage of color. Ah what a joy!!! This dress is right up my alley: soft and feminine LOL.  Kudos to Liesl on the great quality of this dress, and I’m equally impressed with the fact that the dress is hand-made! I will definitely keep an eye out for Liesl Binx latest collection to see what she has in store and to ensure I get my hands on another one of her beautiful creations.

As I’ve mentioned before, I love when my clothing can do double duty so I imagine wearing this vibrant coloured dress to a wedding in the tropics or pairing it with a navy blue turtleneck, chunky heeled knee high boots and a moto style jacket and I’d be ready for fall.

Updated Sexy Plus Collage

SexyPlus Clothing is a jewel of a boutique located in Mississauga, Ontario offering beautiful plus size cocktail dresses and trendy plus size casual clothing in their store as well as online (and they ship internationally as well woohoo!).  How refreshing it is to actually be able to go to a brick & mortar store and try things on!

Stefanie Augusteijn, a former Montrealer like me, has worked tirelessly to create a boutique that is welcoming, fun, flirty and feminine.  Walking into her store was like being in a woman’s private boudoir.

Stefanie and her team thought of everything so as to create  a warm and inviting atmosphere.  The changing rooms are bright, large and complete with a good sized bench and an actual clothing rod to hang the many items one would want to try on!

I mentioned earlier that Sexy Plus Clothing offers cocktail dresses, which by the way are to die for, but Stefanie has worked to now include trendy casual pieces from jeans to printed tops and rockin jackets all at an affordable price!

This black v-neck top and denim jeans are perfect for a date with that special someone.  I love the ruching found across the mid section to cleverly disguise anything one might want to conceal.  I also really like the flutter sleeves as it lends even more feminity to the look.  The v-neck detail is contiued in the back as well.

These Allistyle skinny jeans are incredibly comfortable and I really like the fading detail found on the front and back.  What I also love about this look is you can easily dress it down by swapping out the top for a cute t-shirt or tank top with ballet flats and you’d be good to go for a day or shopping or just  running errands.

I love that its cropped and has snug yet still comfortable fit and gives my look even more edginess.  Being that I’m short and thus short in my torso, most jackets are a little longer than I’d like – not this one though, it was perfect!
