When Canadian, Montreal-based brand Les Poupounes de Luxe collaborates with Fab Four Fashion, one can only expect that “We the North” are at their very best.  Their brand’s message is “We are Montreal Born, our clothes are Canadian made, and Les Poupounes de Luxe stands for a new standard in ready-to-wear clothing uniting women of all sizes”, and Fab Four Fashion is all about that!

Leslie’s Look

Every woman needs a little black dress (LBD) in her wardrobe. It’s one of the simplest ways to look sleek, elegant and sophisticated in one foul swoop. Now, add in a sexy front slit and some exposed shoulder action and you’ve got a winner!

LT IMG_8290

It’s a very rare thing to find me in all black everything. But, when all black looks like this, well then, how could I resist! The style of the dress is simple with enough visual interest to keep it interesting; but what I love about an outfit with such simple lines, is that I get to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. This dress provides the perfect foundation for that gorgeous necklace you’ve been dying to wear; those bold earrings you just haven’t found the right outfit for, but just had to buy; or those shoes that you know were super funky and not your usual, but you could just not leave them in the store!

LT IMG_8265 (1)

This dress feels great and is well made. The sizes seem to run just a tad big, but that is all good, because I can easily take this piece to the tailor so I have that “made to measure” feel.

LT IMG_8319

To accessorize my look, I wore bold earrings,  a silver cuff on each wrist, and some sexy gladiator heels that let everyone know that I came to slay!

Gail’s Look

This Les Poupounes suit has got me feeling like wheeling and dealing, brokering mergers and acquisitions like a stealth corporate raider!  Basically, this suit is what corporate dreams are made of.

The versatility of a great suit just can’t be beat.  It can go from the boardroom to Thursday happy hour (or as we Montrealers call it 5 a 7) easily.  Moreover, one can wear the jacket or the skirt with other things in one’s closet.  I just love when my clothing can do double duty!

GT IMG_9519 (1)

The suit features a peplum jacket with a hook and eye closure and satin lapels.  The fit on this jacket is out of this world fabulous.  Often times I have trouble finding jackets that fit correctly but this Les Poupoune gem is perfect.

I paired the jacket with this cross over hem skirt which is in a pencil style and perfectly accentuates my curves. The cross over style also allows for a little bit of leg to peak through – ooo la la.  The skirt also features a hook and eye closure as well as a hidden button.

GT IMG_8405

Both the jacket and the skirt are made of a double knit material that includes spandex so there is more give and ease of movement so I don’t feel as though I’m trapped in the suit.GT IMG_9431

I wore a salmon coloured sleeveless shirt underneath the jacket for a subtle pop of colour.  I slipped into some blush/nude coloured pumps and to jazz things up even further I added this leopard print clutch.

While browsing on Instagram I saw fellow Montreal blogger @Mllgeri wearing a black jumper which suited her very well. I immediately asked her where she got it and found out it was from a Montreal based company called Les Poupounes.

It’s always nice to discover a Canadian brand that understands that women of fuller shapes and sizes can be fashionable. What you will find in their collection is the basic, classic and timeless black and white pieces that you can mix for work and various events.

JS IMG_9022 (1)

I chose the classic black shorts jumper with a satin waistline.  As I mentioned earlier, I saw it on another blogger and knew it would look good on me. What I love about the jumper is that it’s made out of a stretchy spandex material, which gives you room to breathe so you don’t feel too snug in it.  Since this fabulous jumper is made out of a thicker material, I would most likely wear it during fall and winter with stockings and a nice pair of heels.

JS IMG_8873

For this look I went for classy and fab! To accentuate my waistline I wrapped a thin leather belt around my waist, and kept it simple by adding long gold earrings. To glamorize my look, I wore my lace-up black studded sandals and grabbed my sexy beaded clutch. Last but not least, this jumper comes in every size.  Isn’t it awesome when a retailer realizes that all woman want fashionable pieces, irrespective of size!

Nancy’s Look

We’ve said it once, twice, a thousand times. Finding designers that cater to all body types is cause for a celebration. Retailers and designers, please take notes! It can and is being done, and done beautifully at that.

ND IMG_8027

Les Poupounes de Luxe really personifies what Fab Four Fashion stands for. What I like most (other than the fact that they cater to us all) is that their pieces are classic, must have wardrobe staples. They are the blank canvas that will give you many different wears.

ND IMG_7726

The other obvious bonus is that you’re not limited to a “tall” or “curvy” section of their site. All items can be customized. As a lover of jumpsuits (I know that you all know about my love affair with jumpsuits), I automatically zeroed in on the Tuxedo Jumpsuit. Seeing the inseam of 32″ almost stopped me in my tracks. Since they make every piece, I figured that I would ask if a few additional inches could be added, and voila, I had this perfectly fitted jumpsuit.

ND IMG_8037

The satin at the lapel and trimming on the side pockets elevates this classic piece. The rayon, nylon and spandex combination ensure close fit without being clingy. This chic piece is a standout piece on its own, but I decided to add some gold accessories because black and gold are such a great combination. I added the belt to accentuate my waist, the bangles are my go to and the drop earrings are just too cool to pass on! Punctuate it all with studded pumps and just like that, I was ready to strut my stuff.

Office Chic

GRP IMG_8232

Not sure what to wear to the office this summer? Check out some cute looks from the ladies of Fab Four that just might inspire you!

GRP IMG_8185

Nancy’s Look

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet… and as much as we’d all rather be moving our dancing feet, some of us gotta go to work! Thankfully, this season allows us to do so in style.

ND IMG_9246

Summer to me is synonymous with color, color and more color. That’s why I had to work this skirt into my office chic look. I have made full use of it for play time but now it’s just what I needed to werk it at work. The scuba material gives this pencil skirt the best fit.

ND IMG_9265

To remain sexy and cool, I paired my skirt with a lace top. To wear lace at work or not to wear lace at work, that is the question! It all depends on your work environment. Mine is not the most conservative, but nonetheless, I always make sure that I wear it with a tank top that provides full coverage. The goal is always to look professional and classy while being comfortably you. Just rock whatever outfit will make you walk tall like you own the joint (even if you don’t actually own it… yet!).

ND IMG_9563

Since it’s summertime, I try to wear pieces that can easily take me from the boardroom to the bar. So swap your pumps for some lace up sandals, add some bling around your neck and enjoy that cocktail!

It’s 7:30 AM, it’s already 25 degrees out and you’re getting ready to head out to the office, but first, you gotta figure out what to wear! This task can be daunting, especially when you can’t just throw on shorts and a tee. My solution to the summer heat + work outfit dilemma is the flared skirt.

LT IMG_9071

For me, a flared skirt equals great ventilation!lol I need the air to flow around me to keep me cool and I love that feeling of freedom (no pants restricting my movements.

LT IMG_9095

This look was super-dooper simple. I went for a tone on tone mix rocking this purple pleather, sleevless top and a mauve flared midi skirt. The shoes I kept neutral and then threw on some cool accessories to jazz things up a little. This look also transitions extremely well into an after work happy hour event or a nice dinner out!

So bring on the heat, cause I got it beat baby!

As the temperature rises, maintaining that polished professional look can sometimes leave you wondering what to wear to work.  As you make your way to the office, it might be humid and sticky but once you arrive it’s as though you’ve been dropped in a freezer because the air conditioning is cranked all the way up to Antarctica temperatures!  To combat these two extreme scenarios I make sure to have layering pieces in my wardrobe.

GT Edited IMG_9698

For this summer office chic look I went with this 3/4 length jacket to guard me against the frigid ac temp.  Although this jacket is a feminine pink colour, it’s very tailored and sleek.

GT Edited IMG_9713

I then paired my jacket with this cotton (read breathable) dusty rose coloured tank and a cream coloured pencil skirt.  Both of these pieces work to keep me looking business chic but cool and comfy for those commutes to and from work via public transit.

To complete my look I added blushed coloured pumps (worn only at the office and NOT durig my commute as I wouldn’t survive LOL) and the tote purse to hold all my much needed items.  And voila, summer office chic at its best!

The office chic look is right up my alley. When summer comes around I’m ready to show up to show off.   For me an office chic look is when classic professional meets stylish fashionista. Some of my favorite office looks are dresses, pants and printed shirts. Having these essential items can easily allow you to transition from a day at the office to happy hour. Let me introduce you to my office chic look.

JS IMG_8638

For this look I went for my 3/4 olive high-waisted pants from ASOS . These pants are perfection, love how they hug my body. A high waist is just what I need to show off my hourglass figure. I don’t have to deal with the usual gap at the back when I sit, and the built in belt is just perfect. I have been looking for pants like this for a very long time so when I saw them online I couldn’t resist buying them, and I’m hopeful they’ll come out in many colors so I can purchase them all!

JS IMG_8816

Since we can now finally enjoy the nice weather, I decided to wear my high waist pants with a sleeveless high collar shirt. This shirt goes well with almost anything and I can easily put a sweater or simple jacket over it, and I’m good to go.

JS IMG_8761

To complete my cute office chic look, I paired my outfit with leopard print pumps by Sam Edelman, and just like that I’m ready to handle business at work than enjoy a nice cocktail at a cute spot for happy hour.

GRP IMG_8927

Fashion week is here and once again the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are getting ready to strut their stuff at David Pecaut Square.  Picture it, 4 different beautiful women with 4 different unique styles, one can only imagine that fashion week 2016 would not be the same without Fab Four Fashion.  With that being said, we cordially invite you to feast your eyes on this elegant post that the Fab Four have cooked up for you!

What I love most about fashion week, other than attending the runway shows of course, is dressing up to express my creative vision. This year I went for sophisticated chic meets bold vibrant print. I wore this 50’s inspired green dress with a black elephant print. I scored this little number on sale on the eShakti website. The dress was half price plus they had an additional 40% off on top of that! As you already know from our previous post featuring eShakti, they specialize in customized pieces catering to every size and shape.JS IMG_9667

To add an extra layer of volume and edginess to my lovely dress I wore a black tutu underneath (stay tuned because I’ll be premiering this glorious black tutu in an upcoming post). The goal was to have the tutu peeking out beyond the hem to show off a bit of the black crinoline and make it seem like its part of the dress.

My outfit would not have been complete without a ¾ sleeve feather jacket to add a pinch of pizzazz and flare to my look.  To spice things up I wore my gold and black Ivanka trump pumps and a tiny gold belt to add more definition to my waist. Since my look is 50’s inspired, I added a sexy pair of long leather gloves ending at the elbow to further play on the retro theme.

JS IMG_9622

And finally, the piece that will make every head turn is this to die for clutch. Let me tell you about this breathtakingly beautiful piece of art which I discovered on Instagram.  It’s designed by Ka$hmir this lovely girl who decided to turn her creative juices to clutches, and several other pieces. I was so impressed with her work, I just had to order one of her clutches to show my support. All I can say is that I was impressed from the time I placed my ordered to the time I actually received my clutch. I will definitely be ordering more of her beautiful creations and besides, I am all about women supporting women.

Let me go grab my clutch and voila, I’m ready to rip the runway in style!

Fashion week is always action packed but oh so much fun! I can’t wait to see the fashionable offerings of the other fashion lovers along with what our Canadian designers are cooking up for next fall/winter.

ND IMG_9160

Although Miranda Priestley might not approve, I decided to rock a floral shirt and pants combo. I loved the print and most importantly, it’s super comfortable! Almost like pyjamas (which would keep me on trend as seen on the Thakoon and Givenchy Spring 2016 runway! HA! lol).

ND IMG_9235

I also wanted to play on the colors and prints, so I paired my look with some of my sweetest sweet babies – ie my shoes from J. Crew. These fit like a glove and are so darn cute! I completed my look with some gold baubles.

Stay tuned for our action packed week on all our social media platforms!

Nothing is better than a good piece of leather, and these oh so sexy leather overalls I scooped up at H&M make my heart do an extra little pitter-pat! Fitted, funky and fresh is how I would describe this look and I will agree with my big sis (i.e. Gail’s) description of it having a ”Mad Max” vibe and I can dig it!

LT IMG_9780

Needless to say, the key piece in my look were these overalls. I paired them with an off-the-shoulder cashmere, loose fit sweater to give the look an effortlessness and my leopard print pumps to add a touch of print to this simple colour palette.

LT IMG_9834

So, with a quick spritz of my favourite perfume, and my fashion week pass in hand, I’m off to the shows to see what’s going to be hot for Fall/Winter 2016!

Ah another fashion week is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited to see what our talented Canadian designers have in store for us for Fall 2016.  Of course part of the fun and spectacle of fashion week is seeing the amazing streetstyle that will be on full display this week.  So, not to be out done here is my fashion week look.

GT IMG_9361

GT IMG_9563

I went for SPARKLE baby!  The star of this outfit are these sequin covered shorts.  When I spotted them in Forever 21 I just knew I had to have them!  These shorts are super comfortable and have just the right amount of stretch.

GT IMG_9408

Given that these shorts are “lead” in this outfit I kept the rest of my outfit rather quiet.  I donned a white cropped jacket and simple black tank top.  I brought the sparkle upwards with this long tassel necklace and some bling around my wrist.

GT IMG_9579

Last but not least is the handbag/clutch from Alexander Wang.  As the other ladies of Fab Four Fashion know, I’m  a handbag FANATIC!  What I love about this bag is the metal studs on the bottom giving that dash of edginess to my look.

With that, my fashion week look is complete!

Fall Fashion Week

GRP IMG_5332

Here we go again, it’s that time of year, fall fashion week. That wonderful time when we get to dress up and express ourselves through fashion. It’s also the season when designers show us the greatness we can look forward to for spring 2016. Last year, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion were the rookies at fashion week; but this year, the quartet have come back with a vengeance to show the fashion world what they are working with.

You be the judge. From fabulous backless jumpers and capes, to timeless leather jackets and prints there is so much for your eyes to see!

One thing’s for sure, Fab Four Fashion is ready to “Rip the Runway“!

GRP IMG_5271

Leslie’s Look

Toronto Fashion Week! Christmas in October for the fashion obsessed who flock to see the gorgeous clothing presented on catwalks with care in the hopes of catching a glimpse of what will be hot in the New Year! The flashes of cameras are like twinkling lights on trees and parties abound with the elite and good cheer!

LT IMG_6117

I guess it’s needless to say that I’m quite excited about the coming week and all the delights there will be to enjoy. But before we could head off to the shows we first had to make sure to pull out our fashion week finery and indulge in this time when you can truly dress to show off your inner diva! And that is exactly what I did!

LT IMG_5870

I wanted to go with a monochromatic palette for my look. A blending of vintage, classics and glam! The hallmark of my look was this gorgeous vintage leather and suede fur collared coat that I “borrowed” from my mom’s closet! Yes, you read correctly, my MOM’s closet. This coat is older than I am but still perfectly in line with  current fashion trends!

LT IMG_6017

With this I decided to rock this high-low full satin skirt that I just love because it adds a level of glam due in large part to the material (and the tutu I’m wearing underneath for added fullness) and lens to the illusion of my having a curvier silhouette.

I wanted to dress down the rest of the look so I paired this satin skirt with a simple crew neck long sleeved sweater and black and blue pumps. The accessories were extremely simple; I only wore these silver dangly earrings and that’s it. I felt that the coat and skirt said it all. No need for anything else!

LT IMG_5919

This look combines a bit of that old world Hollywood glam in the fur collared coat and satin skirt with the simplicity of a simple sweater and a monochrome colour pallet. Now, I’m ready to see all the lights, drink in the electric atmosphere and carol along to the cheers of the crowds in only the way one can at this special time of year!

Gail’s Look

Ah fashion week, one of the more glamourous times of the year when fashion’s glitterati  descend on David Pecault Square to peek into the fashion future to see what we will all be wearing come spring.

GT IMG_5519

I just love fashion week!  Of course attending the shows is always exciting, but for me the best part is the people watching!  Fashion week and fashion in general is so fun because one gets the opportunity to step out of one’s safe little box and really express oneself unabashedly!

GT IMG_5527 x 2

With that in mind my fashion outfit centered on this white cape jacket.  This jacket, quite frankly, is the jacket of my whole life!  When I laid eyes on it on the Charlotte Russe website I just knew I had to have it.

GT IMG_5609 x 2

The second piece of my fashion week outfit puzzle was this graphic print skirt.  Graphic prints, especially in black and white, figured heavily in Valentino’s Fall 2015 Ready to Wear collection (see here) so I definitely wanted to incorporate that into my look because as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a sucker for black & white combinations.

GT IMG_5574

The other crucial piece to my fashion puzzle are these over the knee boots.  Finding boots that can accommodate my “shapely” calves used to be such a struggle but no more!  I spotted these bad boys on the Torrid website and snapped them up real quick.  I especially love the studs found on the heels.

To round out my look I added a little frosting around my neck and I’m all set to take in the spectacle that is Toronto Fashion Week!

I love going to fashion week. Last year was my first time attending the shows and I was impressed with the amount of flare, style and daring fashion on display. I met several lovely “fashionisters” and “fashionistas” as well, which was a great added bonus to viewing the fantastic pieces on the main stage! When I went last March, my look had more of a classy and simple feel. This year, I had to be true to myself and give you a bit more than simple! LOL

JS IMG_5383

I went for a look that could transition well from a fashion show to a sexy fashion party. I wore this beautiful printed skirt with a cool black pleated border on one side adding an extra edge to the skirt. You probably already know by now that I have a soft spot for printed pieces.

JS IMG_5408

To cap off my look I elected to wear a simple black crop top because I didn’t want to draw the attention away from the skirt. I also just love the combo of a sexy printed skirt with a crop top and heels. To me, this is an easy, classy, sexy look that works all the time and you can always mix and match these pieces with other elements in your wardrobe.

JS IMG_5450

My look wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t accessorize and glamorize with cool jewellery and a sexy clutch. I paired my outfit with my vintage black beaded clutch courtesy of my mom (thanks mama) and my black suede pumps with gold stone accents. I wore a beautiful stone necklace which elevates my overall look and of course my camel-coloured coat cause let’s be real, it’s almost winter up in here!LOL.

It’s Fashion Week y’all! Twice a year, fashion lovers come to show up and show out and that is precisely what I was going for! While I love to see what’s on the runway, I equally enjoy seeing the street styles. Not only is there tons of inspiration, it’s always interesting to try to figure out people’s personalities based on their sartorial choices!

ND IMG_5712

Based on that, I had to make this outfit 100% me!! Numero uno, them shoes! Oh these shoes are just the cutest cutest things! Awesome color – check! Super comfortable – check! Comes with pom poms!! Come on!! The satin finish brings the right touch of class to these pointy toed flats. The good folks at ASOS are winners for that one.

ND IMG_5671

I know, I know, I sound like a broken record, but backless anything automatically gets my heart beating a little faster LOL. Add that to my favourite piece of clothing – which is a jumper AND a cape?!!??! Oh it’s a WRAP! I accessorized my jumper with very little – a dainty body chain to glam up my exposed back, some cute dangly earrings, all the gold bracelets I could lay my hands on LOL and, my fave: mommy’s clutch.

ND IMG_5745

I especially love this jumpsuit because it’s flirty and sexy and just so much fun! The movement you get from that baby is the ultimate best. The jump off for this look was the jacket.  This jacket is THE JACKET OF MY WHOLE LIFE!  I found it while perusing Beyond the Rack, an online sample sale site, and had to have it.  It was tucked away in the “My Curvy Closet” section of the site.  Once again, I really like how online sample sale sites are providing PERMANENT plus size clothing selections to better serve their diverse customer base.  See fashion industry it’s not hard!

Tis the season for layering. Fall is so unpredictable, so having multiple layers is the best way to conquer the day. For this week’s edition of our lookbook, I was inspired by the boys! This is yet another trend of this season, but does it really ever go away though? As far as I’m concerned, menswear inspired looks are always in.

nd IMG_1772

Blazers are a fall must have. They go well with most things and, most importantly, it’s a stylish way to keep the chills at bay! I love this blazer because of its structure. I’ve had it for many years and it still looks fresh and current. I paired my blazer with this fun polka dot fitted boyfriend shirt. I can predict that this item will also have many wears!

nd IMG_1870

And finally, the star of this outfit is these booties! I found them at the Gap and did a little dance! I saw them at the store in a size 10. For an unknown reason, I decided to try them on. They didn’t fit, but surprisingly, they weren’t crazy tight! So I ordered them online in the size 11 (because of course they don’t actually carry the larger sizes in store… The Gap, please show us big footed babe some love by stocking our size in store please?!? *end rant* LOL). They are soooo comfortable, the color is awesome and I absolutely love them.

nd IMG_1717

One of the recurring comments found in the reviews section is that these boots make the feet look big. While that may be true, I came to terms with this sometime ago. Old Nancy would have returned the boots based on this alone. New Nancy says: Yes! I am tall and I have bigger feet! They allow me to go about my business and help support my statuesque frame, so I am not going to bash them! So I say, screw it, go on with your big feet! So whether it be stilettoes, kitty heels (they’ve been getting a beating lately… LOL), or shoes that make your feet look big, wear what makes YOU comfortable and happy! *gets off soap box* LOL

Leslie’s Look

What fall/winter season would truly be a fall/winter season without a little fur, or faux fur, to add warmth, texture and panache to a look! It can be the perfect opening volley for any outfit you plan to rock this fall. Then, add a foundation of black leather and some knock’em dead booties and ladies, ding-ding-ding, we have a winner!

lt IMG_1096

The catwalks were filled with fur and leather during last spring’s fall/winter fashion week shows and these decadent pieces were a feast for the eyes that I gorged on unrepentantly! And though I had a fun filled summer, I cannot say that I regret having to dress for the cooler temperatures when I get to slip into these sexy pieces.

lt IMG_1135

The foundation of this look is this leather long-sleeved shirt that I purchased many moons ago but continues to stand the test of time. The sleeves were originally more bell shaped, but I had my trusty tailor give them a little nip and tuck. I wanted to pull a little Tracee Ellis Ross action by doing leather top to bottom recalling the gorgeous leather jumpsuit she sported for the Billboard Music Awards, so I paired the leather shirt with these faux leather pants that hug my curves in all the right places.

lt 1150

Since I did not want this look to fade to black, I knew I just had to fall into the fur. This faux fur vest adds  another layer of texture and visual interest that helps to break up all the black. I added this skinny tan belt to help define my waist and my version of “Kinky Boots” that are the embodiment of   all things hot to me (ya, I guess you can say I kinda like ‘em;-)LOL

The accessories were simple: gold rectangular shaped earrings and this quilted shoulder bag and I’m armed and ready to meet cooler temperatures!

Pink Clubwear Part 2: Coming Up Floral

PC2gt IMG_3032

I am still loving the trendy plus size fashions from Pink Clubwear that I had to come back at you with a little more dress goodness!  As mentioned in our previous post, Pink Clubwear offers trendy, fashion forward plus size clothing online at a very affordable price.  They also ship world wide so everyone can get in on the action!

PC2gt IMG_2340

I love the white and blue floral pattern of this body con strapless dress that I got in a size 3X.  It’s incredibly comfortable and I imagine myself wearing this outfit to a wedding reception or bridal shower.

As we mentioned in a previous post, please consult Pink Clubwear’s size chart to make sure the size you order matches up with your measurements.

With a body conscious dress like this one, what you wear underneath is just as important as the complete look itself.  I always make sure to wear the proper fitting undergarments (bra and shapewear) so that I have a smooth and polished look.

This dress was incredibly comfortable and well priced too! I paired it with this cream coloured cropped jacket for a little extra coverage should the evening get cool.

Fall Lookbook Part 2

IMG_0321 Edited Group kiki

The 70s! The era of the Jackson Five, flared pants, the Jeffersons and funk music. Fashion-wise, the 70s was an era that brought bold colour and daring prints to another level. This era is back in full force on the runways this season and we just couldn’t resist creating the perfect post to showcase these looks. Get ready for the Soul Train line of fashion – the way only Fab Four Fashion knows how to do it.

Leslie’s Look

I am so feeling the 70s as some of you may recall from the post I did on this awesome trend seen here!! I love the muted colours the funky prints and of course the mega mini’s. This is one of the trends I was more than eager to jump into for our Fab Four fall foray into this decades modern day inspirations.

IMG_0398 Edited Leslie

This dress speaks to me on so many levels. The mod-ish lines, the muted colours and print and, of course, the mega mini lenth that shows off my gams to perfection are all elements that drew me to this piece! I think every woman should know how to incorporate just the right amount of sexy into a look. Sometimes it’s wearing something figure hugging, sometimes showing a little decolletage, sometimes showing a little (or not so little), leg. I like trying to go for one of these characteristics in each outfit I put together, rather than incorporating them all into one look, and as you can see, my  legs got to take top billing for this look!

IMG_0475 Edited Leslie

To keep me warm on those cooler fall days, I paird this dress with one of my trusty sleeveless coats in a muted colour. It lends an effortless elegant yet relaxed feel to this look that I just love and adds a layer of warmth since, I gotta be real,  I am always cold!LOL  This piece is also great, since it can easily be remixed with so many other pieces in my wardrobe which is something I’m always looking for.

IMG_0412 Edited Leslie

Ladies, let me tell you, if there is only one thing you decide to really invest in this season, let it be a great neutral coloured, knee high boot! I have had these boots which I simply ADORE since 2000! You indeed read correctly; I bought them in 2000! Yes, ladies, I’ve had them for 15 years and am still rocking them! Now, admittedly, I don’t wear them every day and have taken good care of them, but talk about getting a tremendous return on investment! The colour is neutral enough to go with just about everything, and from one fall/winter season to the next, they continue to be a wardrobe staple!

So someone grab the record player…or should it be an eight-track player…and let’s get our 70’s groove on baby!!!!

70s looks dominated the runways for fall and I can certainly understand why.  Think Bianca Jagger’s cool white pants suit or Donna Summer’s sexy sequined outfits – now imagine these looks revamped for today’s sensibilities and you’ve got magic!

IMG_0714 Edited GT

I went for a bold graphic striped print in the form of this dress as seen in so many runway shows for fall.  I just love the pattern and colour combination.  This dress is the ultimate in comfort and flows beautifully over my curves.  I paired this sleeveless dress with this faux leather jacket which works for the unpredictable weather found in fall.  In one day it can go from sunny and blue skies to over cast and breezy.

Judy’s Look

IMG_0564 Edited Judy

I‘ve always been a fan of 70’s trends, so it’s quite fitting that we decided to do a post about this era.  My 70s look is inspired by the hit show Charlie’s Angels. I wore my long sleeved dress with a tie-neck collar, and paired it with a faux fur vest to give a little extra oomph to my look.

IMG_0654 Edited Judy

I scored this dress two seasons ago at Suzy Shier at a great price. This dress has a 70’s inspired graphic pattern with colours like burnt orange, black and brown. To complete my look I wore my over the knee leather boots. I got these fabulous boots from Target last year from the Altuzzarra collection. Big feet women of the world, I know you understand me when I say the struggle is real, so when you find your shoe size on the shelf trust and believe you jump on it. LOL That was my story, I saw the last pair of  size 11 boots on the shelf and I pounced on them so fast I didn’t even look at the price tag.

IMG_0516 Edited Judy

Sadly, Target closed its doors a few months ago here in Canada, however I’m glad I was able to score these fabulous boots while they were here.

My look wouldn’t be complete without my Twiggy inspired sunglasses ( a gift from my little sister) and my signature red lipstick.

Nancy’s Look

¨I’m Foxy Cleopatra, and I’m a WHOLE lot of woman!¨ This single sentence takes me to a time when everything was grooovy! LOL The 70s comes with a slew of cult classics, timeless music and fashion that keeps on giving. I love how fashion from the 70s keeps on reappearing in different forms. This fall is no exception.

IMG_0942 Edited Nancy

For me, what’s most important is to prevent these blasts from the past from being too ¨costumey¨. What I mean by that is that, while the inspiration can clearly be seen, current cuts are a must. This is why I absolutely love this skirt. Pencil skirts are always a must and are flattering on all body types. The 70s influence came in the form of the stripes and the front slit. The colour combination is what actually first drew me to the skirt.

IMG_0841 Edited Nancy

I paired my skirt with a black ¨wrap top¨. I used quotations here because this, ¨top¨ is actually a draped open front cardigan that I am wearing as a top. Do we notice a trend here? Always staying to true to my ‘clothes-remixing’ self!

IMG_0833 Edited Nancy

The skirt is definitely the star of the outfit for me, however, these boots do get an honourable mention! I got them many moons ago at Long Tall Sally. I eyed them for what seemed like an eternity and bought them as soon as they were on sale (Shout out to Angelica, the most awesome LTS saleslady ever who kept her finger on the price pulse along with me!!!). They are chic and comfortable. What else could I ask for!

Nancy’s Look

I’m not sure who came up with the concept of a day party but give her a Nobel prize please!!! LOL I must admit that sometimes, the idea of starting to get ready late at night is enough to deter me from going out all together. Yes, call me an old lady – I wear my badge proudly! But a day party? I’m definitely here for that!

Nancy Edited 4640

I love the idea of partying during the day because while you’re grooving to good tunes, you also get a nice, healthy dose of sunshine! The other thing that I love is that your attire can be cool and relaxed or glam, it’s whatever your heart desires. Being a no muss, no fuss kinda lady, I took this opportunity to keep it simple yet cute.

Nancy Edited 4723

For this nice, hot summer day, I decided to allow the gams to come out and play! Therefore, these super cute, super colourful and super short shorts were a must! I allowed this fabulous print to take center stage by pairing it with a simple, crisp white shirt.

Because I get hives if I don’t add a pop of color (ok, not really, but it’s truly a must for me… not all the time, but most times LOL) I completed my look with a fun yellow pump. They shine bright, like a diamond. Lol  My accessories were kept to a few, yet bold silver pieces. Now watch for me on the dance floor – I’ll be the one busting moves till the wee hours… of the afternoon!

Summer is almost over, therefore I’m making the best of what is left and trying to enjoy the last remaining weeks of nice weather. For me this means that I’ll be wearing all my summer dresses, and letting my legs soak up all the vitamin D they can get before the colder weather sweeps in, forcing me to wear those darn itchy stockings!

Judy Edited 4970

One activity that I love to partake in on a hot summer day is the day party. Picture it: a nice rooftop full of fabulous people who want to have a good time and just enjoy themselves. That sounds fun right? Well it sure is!

Judy Edited 5247

For my day party look, I decided to wear this cute graphic print dress that I found on eShakti. I just fell in love with the print. The best way to describe the print of this dress is that it reflects what happens when African print meets Aztec. Another thing that drew me to this dress were the colours, that blend of royal blue mixed with black, white and a little touch of yellow is superb.

I topped up my look with a simple yellow and blue stone necklace and my Aldo pumps and I’m ready to party.

G - IMG_9634

Stripes, the bain of some women’s existence and a big supposed “no no” for plus size women.  Well, I say nuts to that! I’m a firm believer that one should wear what one wants!  This first look is from Reb Dolls.  I love this online retailer because they take a no holds bar approach to plus size fashions.  If you “dare to wear” body con dresses or crop tops, Reb Dolls will hook you up.

I quite honestly would never have worn a crop top let alone a crop top that was sleeveless but since starting this blog I feel as though I’ve given myself permission to wear what I want and my girls have definitely encouraged me to take some fashion risks.

G - IMG_9295

I love the chevron pattern of this skirt and the “flowiness” of it too.  I finished the look with a faux leather jacket from City Chic online and added tangerine coloured wedge espadrilles for a pop of colour.

Simply Basquiat

Group Ago Edited IMG_4598 Remix

Forget the call of the wild! The inescapable call of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) was too alluring to the ladies of Fab Four Fashion this week. We were awed by the thought provoking, expressive work of painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. His large scale pieces held us enthralled, as did the beautiful lines and winding contours of the architecture of the gallery.  I mean really, who could ask for a better backdrop for our looks this week than the AGO!

Group Ago Edited IMG_4742 Remix

Leslie’s Look

I was inspired by menswear lines like Comme des Garcons or Klaxon Howl when putting my look together. As I find myself continually explaining to my sister Gail (yup, the same fine full figured femme fetal whom you know and love from this very blog), I’ve got to get dressed based on my mood.

L - B IMG_5128 Ago Edited

The Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition at the AGO put me in the mood to play with layering print and experimenting with more masculine lines.

L - IMG_5145 Ago Edited

For this outfit I wanted a loose, relaxed look and feel that seems to often go hand-in-hand with men’s wear. I could be wrong, but no matter what they’re wearing unless it’s a tux, guys usually look comfortable.

L - IMG_5175 Ago Edited

This look was all about the layering. I decided to go with pieces that were all in the same colour family which is atypical for me. A crisp white shirt and taupe pants formed the base of this look and I proceeded to layer on a leopard print top (which is actually a dress), a brown leather jacket and a check print car coat.  My t-strap shoes, which I consider my modern-day version of spats, paired with subtly printed socks rounded out the look adding a certain retro feel!

Nancy’s Look

One of the many words that come to my mind when I think of Basquiat’s work is funky. As such, I decided to up the “funk factor” of my outfit just a smidge.

AGO N0

I was immediately drawn to this furry sleeve sweater number which I scored at Zara. As my fellow long legged (and arms!) ladies know, when I tried the sweater on, I was certain that the sleeves would be too short and wondered if it would still look nice with the sleeves scrunched up. Well to my surprise, the sleeve length worked! Which lead to a happy dance and a quick dash to the cash.

AGO N1B

Speaking of appropriate length, let’s talk about these trouser jeans from Alloy Apparel! Again, Alloy Apparel understands that our bodies come in all shapes and sizes: these jeans go from size 1 to 25 and 30″ inseam to 39″! To err on the side of caution (or was it just because it was available), I ordered the 39″ inseam. For the very first time in my life, I had jeans that were too long! And yes, that warranted a little dance as well 🙂

AGO N3

I decided to keep my outfit in fifty shades of blue! Ok, there are only about five shades… I finished my look with my favorite cobalt blue pumps and shoulder bag in a similar shade.

AGO N4

Sweater: Zara (sold out); similar here and here // Jeans: Alloy Apparel // Shoes: Sam Edelman (old); similar here and here // Purse: Shoulder Bag: Hong Kong (old); similar here and here // Earrings: Hudson’s Bay (old); similar here and here // Bangle: Dedo Azu (more details to come!)

I have a bit of a handbag obsession….ok, it’s a big obsession.  Basically what I’m saying is that my outfit was centered around this fringed creation.
