Summer in the City

GRP IMG_3357

Summer is not only about shorts, tanks and bikinis. It’s also a great time to break out a cute summer dress or some spectacular prints and cool fabrics. The ladies of Fab Four Fashion took the plunge into summer fashion fun and are dressing up the way they do best!

I love wearing summer dresses when the mercury rises above that 25 degree mark. They are the perfect  piece to where to allow the warm summer breezes to help cool you down on a hot day, and give you some breathability.

LT IMG_3529

This African print dress is one of my favourites to pull on on a hot day. The cotton material allows me to stay cool, and the flared skirt gives me maximum movement. I love this style of dress as it gives me a beautiful silhouette and gives us women the freedom of wearing any style of undergarments we like. If you want to wear something to prevent the dreaded thigh chaffing, this is a perfect piece!

LT IMG_3525

Accessorising this look was a synch. You  have the option of dressing it up or down depending on your mood! I wanted to dress it up a bit so I went for bold jewelry and high heeled pumps. Yet another advantage of this dress and the beautiful print, one has the option of wearing many different styles and colour of shoes.

And with that, I’m going to hit a rooftop party with the crew!

I love maxi dresses, and this one from eShakti fits me to a “T”.  We’ve talked about how much we love this awesome retailer in the past as their clothing is completely customizable so you’re sure to find something in a size “you”!  No one has been left out at eShakti!GT Edited IMG_4074

For me, summer isn’t summer without an easy breezy maxi (see how I made that rhyme LOL).  I love the chevron pattern on this cotton dress and the fact that it has pockets!!!!!!  I added a simple black belt to highlight my waist.GT Edited IMG_4030

Summer is the time to bust out the lovely colors in your wardrobe, and to be more fashionably bold with your style, without having to wear a winter coat.  Let me talk to you about a cute summery look that can take me to brunch and transition well into an after work social networking event.

For one thing, I’m always attracted to bright colors, they tend to uplift my spirit and brighten up my days LOL. If you know me by now, you know that I love wearing outfits that can transition from day to night.  For this look I went for bright and light with a touch of pop art.

JS IMG_4189

I wore this nice fitted yellow skirt that I got on sale a few weeks ago thru Eloquii.  Little confession though, in order to get the skirt fitted to my body, I had to get a size down. The skirt is the perfect, mid-length that comes in a scuba material which fits nicely.

I scored this yellow, pink, and blue printed top for $6 at old navy yay.  For that price I couldn’t leave it behind. The perfect summer coat for me is a cool jean jacket which can be thrown on over a summer dress, or rocked with a jumper and you are good to go. I was always on the lookout for the perfect jean jacket, and couldn’t find it until I went to Old Navy and found this one in a light blue denim. This jacket is the business! I love the light blue color and that it’s a bit stretchy so that I can actually wear a sweater underneath and not feel constricted.  Trust me, it’s the worst feeling being virtually trap in your clothes LOL.

JS IMG_4249

To add a dash of pop art to my outfit I wore my white frame sunglasses, a silver cubed necklace, my famous Kashmir clutch frame with the incomparable Grace Jones and a pair of blush pumps, and I’m ready to brighten your day while I take over the 6ix.

On any given day, you will catch me in jeans or in a jumpsuit; but every now and then, I like to break out a sweet and girly dress. This dress hits the mark on all accounts. In a not so distant past, you would never catch me wearing florals… Yet, just in the past couple of months, I’ve worn florals over, over and over again. Go figure!

ND IMG_3794

This dress is just adorable. It screams easy, breezy and beautiful. The material is lightweight and makes it the perfect piece on a hot summer day. The top part has suttle stiches which does wonders for our figure. It has a nice adjustable cross back along with a sweetheart neckline. To make this dress even more perfect, it has pockets!

ND IMG_3785

This is yet another piece that can be dressed up or down. I plan on wearing it with some cute lace up flats, but that’s not the route I took here! I decided to dress it up by wearing my dress with fushia pumps. I added a belt to define my waist and the right amount of bling around my neck.

Group Day Party 3746

Nancy’s Look

I’m not sure who came up with the concept of a day party but give her a Nobel prize please!!! LOL I must admit that sometimes, the idea of starting to get ready late at night is enough to deter me from going out all together. Yes, call me an old lady – I wear my badge proudly! But a day party? I’m definitely here for that!

Nancy Edited 4640

I love the idea of partying during the day because while you’re grooving to good tunes, you also get a nice, healthy dose of sunshine! The other thing that I love is that your attire can be cool and relaxed or glam, it’s whatever your heart desires. Being a no muss, no fuss kinda lady, I took this opportunity to keep it simple yet cute.

Nancy Edited 4723

For this nice, hot summer day, I decided to allow the gams to come out and play! Therefore, these super cute, super colourful and super short shorts were a must! I allowed this fabulous print to take center stage by pairing it with a simple, crisp white shirt.

Nancy Edited 4595

Because I get hives if I don’t add a pop of color (ok, not really, but it’s truly a must for me… not all the time, but most times LOL) I completed my look with a fun yellow pump. They shine bright, like a diamond. Lol  My accessories were kept to a few, yet bold silver pieces. Now watch for me on the dance floor – I’ll be the one busting moves till the wee hours… of the afternoon!

Ain’t no party like a day time partay!!!  After a long hard work week its wonderful to kick back, relax and enjoy the freakin weekend with family and friends.

 GT Edited 5422

I normally gravitate to any item of clothing that is black, like a bee to flowers, but lately I’ve really been trying to embrace colour. With this look, however, I went back to what’s most comfortable, my good old black maxi dress.

GT Edited 5462

This comfy but oh  so sexy maxi is from redbdoll!  I just love this online retailer because their tag line says it all, “Unapologetic Fashion” and I’m so here for that. They always have their finger on the pulse of what’s hot and trendy.

So to jazz up my sexy curve accentuating maxi I added a whole lotta bling with this gorgeous statement necklace.  Should my evening get a little chilly I brought along a denim jacket in a dark wash.

Summer is almost over, therefore I’m making the best of what is left and trying to enjoy the last remaining weeks of nice weather. For me this means that I’ll be wearing all my summer dresses, and letting my legs soak up all the vitamin D they can get before the colder weather sweeps in, forcing me to wear those darn itchy stockings!

Judy Edited 4970

One activity that I love to partake in on a hot summer day is the day party. Picture it: a nice rooftop full of fabulous people who want to have a good time and just enjoy themselves. That sounds fun right? Well it sure is!

Judy Edited 5247

For my day party look, I decided to wear this cute graphic print dress that I found on eShakti. I just fell in love with the print. The best way to describe the print of this dress is that it reflects what happens when African print meets Aztec. Another thing that drew me to this dress were the colours, that blend of royal blue mixed with black, white and a little touch of yellow is superb.

Judy Edited 5098

I topped up my look with a simple yellow and blue stone necklace and my Aldo pumps and I’m ready to party.

To The Max

Fab Four Fashion Group Kiki

The ladies of Fab Four are taking summertime dressing “to the max” by showing you our favourite maxi dresses this season! An awesome way to keep cool in the heat of the summer sun, the maxi dress can keep you styling, profiling and poised to hit that downtown terrace for lunch, strolling through the shops with your favourite friend, or while checking out a movie in the park after dark!

LT Maxi Dress 7419

I love to be comfortable in everything I wear. Whether I look fierce or frightening (unfortunately, we all  have those blah days), you will only ever see me in something that I can dance to my favourite house tunes  in – and yes I usually do end up doing a two step in my clothing pieces before I purchase them especially the shoes! So this gorgeous maxi dress is perfectly suited to my style and taste.

LT Maxi Dress 7454

I stumbled upon this maxi dress at Wallis, a UK clothing store, and fell in love. I was fortunate to have one of my friends coming to town from the UK and was able to convince them that my life would be over without the dress so they took pity on me and purchased it on my behalf. But since then, I have found out that Wallis clothing is sold at Hudson’s Bay! You gotta love that store!

Things I love most about this maxi? Firstly, the print! That is what first drew me to the dress! The print is bold without being too over the top (though anyone who knows me knows I’m all  about my bold prints, but sometimes I need to mix it up:-). Secondly, the style. I love how loose fitting it is, while still looking elegant and stylish. I actually don’t have very many maxi dresses, though I do like this style.  Between you and me, I guess I usually just like showing a little more leg!LOL  Thirdly, now we’re getting down to the knitty-gritty…I love that I can wear any underwear I want with this dress! Ladies, you know that we have underwear for all “occasions”, well this dress will accommodate any occasion you have planned! Moreover, if you have the dreaded problem of your thighs rubbing together when you walk, you can throw on a pair of tights or mid calf leggings or whatever, so you won’t feel the burn, and no one will be the wiser…unless you want them to be!;-)

LT Maxi Dress 7417

To cap off my look, I cinched my waist with a braided gold belt and rocked my new shiny gold sandals that make me feel like I should be drinking ambrosia with Zeus on high!  And Zeus baby, I’ll take my ambrosia shaken, not stirred!

What’s a summer wardrobe if it doesn’t include a maxi dress? They are simply the best: easy to slip on, and a life saver when you’re getting closer to that waxing appointment (or is that just me? Lol) With that said, they can be  a challenge to find, right long legged ladies? I KNOW you’ve gone to a store to try on a maxi, only to have it hit you mid calf… then it becomes a midi!

Nancy Maxi Dress 7508

I’ve learned to look for my maxis at stores or by clothing lines that are made specifically for women 5’9” and over. However, the dress that I am wearing here is from H&M. Gasp! I know, H&M.

Nancy Maxi Dress 7575

I must say, it could definitely have been a couple of inches longer, but I loved the dress so much that I was willing to overlook its shortcoming (see what I did there… lol). I loved the print, the huge kangaroo pocket and the deep V neckline.

Nancy Maxi Dress 7518

Again, with such a standout piece, there was no need to overshadow the dress by over accessorizing. I therefore kept it simple with some gold accessories and brown strappy sandals. With that, I was ready to strut my stuff in my super sweet maxi.

I scored this maxi dress on a great sample sale site called  I love shopping on this site because I love a great deal (who doesn’t!) and they always have great plus size clothing options!

I especially love this maxi dress because of the placement of the waist band as it hits me just under my bust accentuating it – yippee!  Now, maxi dresses can be the bain of a petite woman’s existence but once again, a tailor can be your best friend along with a great pair of wedge sandals.

Judy’s Look

What would my summer be without rocking one of my fabulous maxi dresses? Maxi dresses are my go to dress for almost every occasion- it’s easy peazy, just put it on and go. For a curvy woman of my stature and medium height I tend to gravitate towards lengthy colorful maxi dresses.

Judy Maxi Dress 7322

Since I’ve been blessed with a set of hips that Don’t Lie (LOL) I love finding maxi dresses where the bottom portion is wide enough for me to move around in. Like this great peacock maxi dress that I’m wearing.  What I like is that underneath there is a flowy stretchy slip which allows me to move freely and I feel comfortable in it.  Most importantly it’s not see through which could potentially expose my business.

Judy Maxi Dress 7312

A huge plus for me is a maxi dress that has a lot of room in the bozzum area, LOL There is nothing worse than a maxi dress where the bottom part feels comfortable while the boob area is very tight and it shows. For example, with this dress the boob area is stretchy and cinches me up perfectly.

Judy Maxi Dress 7298

I found this dress last summer at the Jean Machine store. Who knew a jeans store would sell such beautiful maxi dresses. I saw the dress and it was calling to me through the storefront window and I knew that this dress had to be mine.
