We are always impressed when women go for their dreams and this is exactly what Fike Ayeni did with Ziza Boutique. She saw that there was a need for individuality and diversity in the fashion landscape and she decided to do something about it. We are so glad she did!! She goes to the ends of the world (literally) to provide her customers with beautiful garments. Do yourself a favor: sit back, relax and enjoy the greatness that is Ziza Boutique.

Another gem found when Fab Four Fashion discovered the online boutique Shop Ziza, and we were ecstatic when  we realized that Shop Ziza catered to straight, plus and tall sizes.

While driving on the way to meet Fike, the owner of Ziza boutique,  I didn’t know what to expect.  I immediately felt relaxed and at ease when we  were greeted   by the  gorgeous and stylish owner Fike. The boutique is located in the basement of her beautifully welcoming home and is all at once chic, inviting and sets the stage for a truly wonderful shopping experience.

JS IMG_5608

What’s so special about this in-house boutique is that each piece is unique, and that she only orders a few sizes in each piece.  Limiting the orders, minimizes the chance of running into someone wearing the same outfit as you.

JS IMG_5592

I felt like a kid in a candy store when I entered the boutique, perusing through all the clothing on the floor, and the additional hidden gems in the back room. This boutique boasts a wide variety of both straight and plus size pieces. I was fortunate enough to find several pieces that caught my eye, however, my heart was captured by this gorgeous short sleeve dress. Very different from what I usually gravitate toward. I love the light blue color with the combination of the floral pattern. This dress reminds me of Haute Couture Gucci runway. It’s very feminine, classy and bold all at the same time.

JS IMG_5624

To complete my look, I paired my dress with blush pumps and accessorized with silver bracelets and earrings.

Fike told us that she regularly travels to Europe to visit different merchants and bring back pieces that she thinks her customers will appreciate. Well I’m quite happy with exclusivity, and in my new dress I’m certainly ready to rip the runway of the main streets of Toronto.

Finding a new place to shop is always great. Finding a new place to shop which offers unique pieces is amazing. Finding a new place to shop that offers great pieces in all sizes is the best! If you’re as excited as I am, you need to check out Ziza Boutique.

ND IMG_5894

Have you ever been to an event only to find someone else wearing the same [insert piece of clothing] as you? Annoying right? Well when you shop at Ziza, the chances of that happening are slim to none. Shop Ziza came into existence for that very reason and being unique is its’ raison d’être.

ND IMG_5961 (1)

When we stumbled on the IG page, we were immediately impressed with their offerings. Going to the boutique was even more impressive. Owner Fike Ayeni clearly has a great eye for fashion and curates pieces that will speak to the sophisticated women’s sensibilities.

She even thought about us long legged babes! Her Tall section is actually tall and the offer some great options – in both straight and plus sizes.

ND IMG_6042

This dress was one of the many pieces that caught my attention. This satin dress has such a regal feel! I immediately pictured myself wearing it with goddess braid, big gold earrings and red lips while relaxing on the hilly coast of Santorini.  Gotta say, I’m quite pleased with the result of my vision, now I just need one of you to hook me up with a plane ticket! LOL

I further accentuated my waist with a thin gold belt and wore mustard pumps to have my must-have pop of color.

Stylish, unique and absolutely divine are apt descriptions of this fabulous dress I discovered from Ziza Boutique. Print perfection, subtly sexy and boldly beautiful, this dress combines all the elements I love in my clothing: cool print, funky details and a little dash of sexy!;-)

LT IMG_6416

But for me, Ziza Boutique was as much about the clothing as it was about the shopping experience. Picture it, a beautiful, relaxed setting, in which you have access to unique clothing and accessories, painstakingly selected by the owner, who has created a boutique experience that will leave you excited about the pieces, thrilled with the variety of sizes, and the assistance of the owner who has an amazing instinct for what will look perfect on your body type and shape! She was amazing!

LT IMG_6388

As I mentioned earlier, this girl does love herself some print, as they give me the look of that extra volume that I know you all know I’m always on the hunt for…AND with the fire engine red belt to accentuate my waist, my hourglass shape is amplified! The style of the dress is so simple, yet the added details of the volume in the sleeve, small key-hole opening at the neck and bold print all come together to make it a show stopper.

LT IMG_6374

Styling this dress could never be simpler. All I added was funky earrings, and a stand-out cuff (which is actually 2 cuffs stacked together). I kept the shoes neutral so as not to have them competing with the dress and I was ready for my close up, and ready to hit the town!

Gorgeous does not begin to describe this beaded gown.  This form fitting dress hits me in all the right places-accentuating my curves beautifully.   As one moves closer to the bottom of the dress it flares out prettily so there’s a wonderful “swoosh” when I walk so I feel like the belle at the ball!

GT IMG_5810

The details at the top of the dress is equally beautiful.  The red and clear beads sown in at the neck make this dress nothing short of Oscar worthy!

To complete my look I added simple silver studded earrings, blush coloured pumps and simple silver bracelets.  With that I’m ready to dance the night away.

ASOS For All

Grp Edited IMG_2708
ASOS: 4 letters which stand for As Seen On Screen and so much more! Indeed, ASOS responded to the increasing body image dissatisfaction in the UK – which is an issue faced everywhere really – by harnessing its influence among young fashion-lovers to promote healthy body image. They have funded and partnered with organizations such as The Diana Award which is an anti-bullying charity that works on raising young people’s self-esteem and body confidence; and also Beat, which offers a safe and supportive environment for discussion between those with an eating disorder. They even engaged with the UK government on this topic by participating on the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Body Image (APPG) in early 2012. The group’s objective was to uncover ways to promote a healthier body image in the wider community.
How awesome is that! Representation for all is what Fab Four Fashion is all about. ASOS understands that fashion is for ALL bodies, shapes and sizes and they embody the phrase “Style Beyond Size!” to a tee! See how we decided to partake in their fashionable offerings.Grp Edited IMG_2776

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m a sucker for a hot print. I know you all know this; It’s not news right? But did you also know that I have an obsession with the United Kingdom? You may be asking yourself what does that have to do with a hot print? Nothing really, but  it has a lot to do with many pieces in my wardrobe.LT Edited IMG_3750

I love British retailers!! They provide amazing clothing pieces for the masses and you will often find that their sizing is much more generous, whether it be for clothing or shoes. And ASOS is one of my all time favorite! Gail introduced me to them years ago, and I’ve been a faithful customer ever since!  Offering clothing in straight sizes as well as plus sizes and offering tall and petite options as well! They get that women come in all shapes and sizes.LT Edited IMG_3682

This dress is one of my faves! The print is fantastic and I just love the midi length. It’s perfect for many occasions and travels very well (don’t you just hate ironing all the time when your on vacation or traveling for work:-)
To style my dress, I rocked it with this cool oversized moto jacket to counteract the femininity, as well as this black studded belt to help define my waist.

You’ve heard us say it before but it bears repeating….we love companies that offer fashion forward designs for ALL body types!  ASOS, a dynamic online retailer, began carrying clothing for plus size fashionistas back in 201o and I was beyond excited!  Over the years, I’ve happily thrown money at this company in exchange for fun fashionable designs.

ASOS really does it like no other. Fashionable. Affordable. Classic. Trendy. Tall. Plus size. Curvy. Petite. We don’t all come in the same shapes and size and we all want hot clothing. The good folks at ASOS clearly understand this. I dream of the day when they provide a brick and mortar option, but until then, I will continue to endulge on the world wide web.

ND Edited IMG_4330

Many years ago, in my rookie online shopping days, I made the crucial mistake of ordering a garment thinking that the UK and US sizes were the same… Well they’re not! LOL. Don’t be a rookie Nancy, and consult the size chart! I have since ordered a number of pieces from them (including shoes big footed babes!!) and the fit is heavenly for this tall girl (remember this tall dress where my “4-inches-heels-wearing-5-foot-11-inches” self couldn’t even see my toes???).

ND IMG_4085

Playing around with trends is always a lot of fun. Personally, I like to incorporate trends in my wardrobe but always aim for two points: 1. will it fit with my current wardrobe and 2. if it’s just a fun piece that I have to have, I don’t want to break the bank. This top here fits the bill perfectly. It has just a hints of ruffle at the sleeves and the stripes are just classic.

I paired my top with this a simple faux leather skirt which has just the right strech to accentuate you “assets” and allow you to walk pefectly (if you’ve ever put on a too tight pencil skirt, you will understand this LOL). I finished my look with my new favorite floral pumps because, in my world, stripes and florals just yearn to be together!

Ask anybody who knows me and they will tell you that ASOS is my favorite online store. Why? Well, they understand me plain and simple. As a curvy woman, shopping at any regular store in the mall is difficult. I rarely find things that fit my body perfectly or they don’t have a wide selection of the stylish clothes that I love.

ASOS is my one stop shop and by that I mean they have a wide selection of clothing. Dresses, pants, shirts, jumpers you name it, they have it.  Two important elements with ASOS is that they understand that curvy and plus size women love stylish clothes and their designs are fashionable, current and affordable.JS reEdited IMG_3164

Another crucial element when ordering with ASOS, measure yourself and follow the size chart cause their sizes are in UK measurements, which are different than US size charts.  Once you know your measurement you’ll be fine when ordering.

For this post I decided to wear one of ASOS’ classics which is the wiggle dress. ASOS offers a variety of wiggle dresses, this is a simple classic dress that has a Jackie Kennedy feeling. This dress can be worn to work, for a wedding or any classy event, in other words this dress is a must in your wardrobe.JS Edited IMG_3210

What I love the most about this midi length dress, is the fact that the material is stretchy, it’s comfortable and fits me in the right place.

My look wouldn’t be complete without my mustard pumps and my bedazzled necklace which compliments my dress perfectly.

The Fab Four

Sumissura

group IMG_4510

Quality foundation pieces are an integral part of any woman’s closet. They are literally the building blocks of a well rounded wardrobe; and a beautifully tailored, made to measure shirt is an excellent element to elevate that simple casual look, add flare to that business suit, or polish to those weekend boyfriend jeans.

Sumissura has the magic touch when it comes to made to measure, stylish shirts for women of all sizes! Pick your favourite style of shirt, favourite print and fabric, input your measurements and you’re on your way! See what the ladies of Fab Four cooked up when we stepped into the proverbial Sumissura kitchen!

Judy’s Look

I always get excited when I hear about Gail’s latest finds! This time she struck gold with this company that makes customized shirts and suits.

js IMG_3724

When I went to their website I was stunned to see the extent of the variety and selection they had to offer. I knew Fab Four Fashion and Summissura would make magic together!

Designing my shirt took some time because I just couldn’t make up my mind (too many choices!LOL) I was so impressed with the way the customization process is set out.  Once you’ve made a selection, style of shirt for example, you then see it reflected on the screen, like dressing up a mannequin (how cool is that?!).  The customizable features are exhaustive. You can choose the style of sleeve, fit, hemline, collar style, cuff style, the fabric and little added accents to make your shirt oh so unique.

js IMG_3697

Oh and let me tell you about their on point and accurate sizing system.  All you need do is enter a few of your measurements along with your height and you are then provided with an approximate calculation of your full measurements. I must say they are quite accurate. One added bonus is that if you are curvy and have a larger bust or a little tummy, this is factored in when designing the shirt to ensure great lines and a comfortable, tailor made fit.

After an extensive deliberation between 3 styles, I elected to go with this nice slim fit, long sleeve button-down shirt with a polka dot pattern in brown, yellow and grey. I must say I am very happy with the end result.

I can wear it to work, to brunch with the girls, or dress it up or down to suit a myriad of situations. For this look I went for corporate chic. I paired it with my faux leather midi pleated skirt and my camel coat. To finish off my look I wore my mustard pumps and a brown snakeskin clutch.

js IMG_3576

Bottom line, Sumissura is the business! It is well worth the expense when you consider that it’s made to measure. Their customized shirts start from around $49.00 which is quite impressive. I can’t say enough how impressed I was with their service. I give them top rating for their customization process as well. Even with a waiting period of a few weeks from order to delivery, it was well worth the wait. Next up Fab Four Fashion does Sumissura suits! LOL

Until next time!

Nancy’s Look

Ladies. Can we talk about how hard it is to find the perfect fitting shirt?!! And extra small automatically implies that the sleeve lengths cannot possibly exceed 20 inches. And the bust! Oh the bust! If the bust don’t fit, you must acquit!! LOL.

nd IMG_4247

I don’t think that I need to mention that I’m always on a mission to find shirts with the right sleeve length. Also, I have an arched back, so my shirts often look like they are too big. Then add the bust and I always have that pesky gap which needs to be secured with a safety pin (because fashion tape isn’t actually sufficient!)

nd IMG_4292

Sumissura came to solve all these headaches! Their design tool is fool proof and so easy to use. You can input the obvious (measurements, style and fabric) but I was most impressed with the attention to detail. You can choose the colors of the buttons, thread or button-holes, whether you want epaulettes or not, you can even add a monogram if you want to!

nd IMG_4412

I decided to go with the polka dot shirt (a.k.a fugu) in slim fit, rounded hemline, classic collar, no pockets and shoulder straps. It’s a nice twist on a white shirt and can be worn in a million different ways: with a wide array of colors, solids or prints, for the office or for play. Today, I styled it for play by pairing it with simple jeans and a cape and studded pumps. I am truly happy with my shirt and certainly look forward to ordering many more!

lt IMG_3765

I can honestly attest to the fact that I’ve never had a shirt that actually fit my shoulders, arms and waist properly without a quick trip to the tailor. But this simple striped shirt with flare from Sumissura hit the mark very well. Since it was my first time ordering from this company, I elected to go with a simple shirt that would get a lot of wear. The only extra touch I added was the French cuff sleeves that I just love!

lt IMG_3867

The Sumissura web site is very easy to navigate.  I was able to select whether I wanted a fitted shirt or relaxed fit, breast pockets, epaulettes, French cuffs, monogram, style of collar, fabric and print and this is not even an exhaustive list. The options are seemingly endless! Needless to say, I spent a lot of time trying to “design” my shirt. What is really great is that when I made a selection on the site I could immediately see what my selection would look like (you gotta love technology). This really puts you in the driver’s seat (or should I say designer’s seat).

lt IMG_3791

Next came breaking out the tape measure. Here’s where the magic really happens if you ask me. Make sure you put in your exact measurements. The system will provide a “guestimate” and from there you can make adjustments if needed. I had  a tricky time with this part as my guestimate was quite a bit off. But I know Gail’s was bang on so, it really just depends on the person. The moral of the story is, ensure your measurements are correct. If you run into difficulty, there is a trusty “Need Help” option that you can use to get all the guidance you need.

Then came the styling! I knew I wanted this to be a shirt that to be worn with one of my suits. And since, as most of you know, I’m a print junkie, I was more than happy to slip on my check print suit and striped pumps to turn the dial up on this look. To finish off the look, I threw on this brightly coloured overcoat to make sure I’m seen!

A well tailored shirt is one of the cornerstones of any woman’s closet – a wardrobe staple they’ll reach for over and over again.  Custom shirts offered by Sumissura equals quality, longevity and classic styles thgt can be dressed up or down.

Once again, we discovered a company that understands that women come in all shapes and sizes and thus they make their clothing available to all!

Sumissura not only offers great shirt and blouse styles but custom suits and coats as well and the fabric selections are wide and varied.

gt IMG_3482

The process of choosing the fabric and style of shirt was really quite easy and fun.  One got to choose not only the fabric to be used but the style of the collar, whether the shirt was loose or slim fitting.  One also got to select whether the shirt came with breast pockets or shoulder details and cuff details.  Once your selections were chosen they would be immediately shown on a mannequin so as to give the client an idea of what the shirt would look like given the choices you made!

gt IMG_3427

Once you’ve made all your selections for your shirt you are then prompted to enter your measurements.  The Sumissura site walks you through that whole process making it quite easy and their turnaround time for a custom shirt was lightening quick too!

gt IMG_3391

I decided to go for a slim fit blue check shirt and indulged my girly girl side by pairing it with this lovely black neoprene high low skirt.    I added gray pumps and a light blue tote to round out my look.

It’s World MasterCard Fashion Week! That time of year when we get our first glimpse of what’s hot for the coming season. But the fun doesn’t stop there. We also get to strut our stuff in our  own “closet creations”.  This year the Fall 2015 collections from Canada’s top designers are being unveiled at David Pecaut Square in Toronto’s downtown King West area and the Fab Four were not going to miss their chance to be a part of the action!

I paired my body-con dress with this cute curve hugging black faux leather jacket from City Chic.  Since my printed dress was providing all kinds of za za zoo I kept my jewelry to a minimum and just wore gold plated wire earrings that add a little edge to my look!

To further polish my look, I wore a big blue and turquoise stone necklace and my long camel coat. This is a more tame look for me compared to my usual signature “accentuate my curves” look.  I love it and still felt confident and feminine.

I love this top for its versatility, so instead of wearing it on its own, I chose to pair it with a crisp white shirt, leather moto jacket and a faux leather flared skirt.
