Going To The Chapel…

Summer is just around the corner, heralding the commencement of another wedding season! Finding the right dress to attend different styles of weddings can sometimes be a little tricky. But never fear, the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are here and found some sassy, summery looks to give you some ideas of what to wear when you are attending that wedding.grp IMG_0604

Judy’s LookJS IMG_1733

I’m always on the lookout for the perfect dress. So needless to say, when I have a wedding to attend, I always have a little somethin-somethin’ waiting in the proverbial wings of my closet, just itching to make an appearance. From cocktail weddings style dresses to country style wedding dresses, you name it, I either have it, or plan to find it.JS IMG_1746

Let me tell you about the cute dress that I found that is just perfect for attending a cocktail style wedding.  I first saw it on a gorgeous, fellow blogger that goes by the name of Simplycyn on the Gram, and went straight to the ASOS site to make it mine! It’s a wiggle style dress in a light scuba material. The dress has a lovely vibrant, colourful, flowery pattern, with a high neckline and a small triangular opening at the back. What I love most about it is that it works so well for spring, summer, and early fall.JS IMG_1593

Composed of a light, stretchy scuba material, this dress fits me like a glove, hugging me in all the right places. To accentuate the smallest part of my body, I wore a skinny yellow belt to accompany the dress. But, most importantly, because the dress gives me room to breathe (which I love), I will have enough room to hit the midnight buffet at that wedding!LOL

To complete my cocktail style wedding look, I wore my blush colored pumps, put on my gold cuffs and some dangly earrings, and just like that, I’m ready for the next summer wedding adventure!JS IMG_1763

What will the bride be wearing? What will the venue look like? What about the food? All very exciting questions when I get closer to a wedding date. But most importantly, what am I going to wear?! I need to buy new shoes! Always a good reason to buy shoes LOLnd IMG_1967

When choosing what to wear, the type of wedding is key: you don’t necessarily want to wear a ball gown to a backyard wedding, right? If you’re attending a fun cocktail wedding, then this little number is just the right piece!nd IMG_2052

I love so many things about this dress. The color is so vibrant, it’s definitely an eye catcher. The length is perfect, which is key for us long legged babes. The lace adds just the right touch of class. And of course, it’s open back. All of this spells P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N in my book!nd IMG_2040

I completed my look with these perfect multi colored Swarovski crystal earrings, simple lace up sandal and huge hair!

When granted the esteemed privilege of baring witness to a couple’s nuptials, there are so many looks that are appropriate these days. Those days of not wearing black to a wedding are over! But when shopping for that dress, my first goal is usually to select a garment that will get many wears in my wardrobe (gotta watch that bottom-line from time to time:-), and of course, I wana slay’em!LT IMG_1255

My second objective, is to hit’em in the gut with a pop of colour! This dress scores high on both fronts! The style is an overall classic, with the added benefit of the off the shoulder style being all the rage this summer; and the fact that it makes me feel like Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman” after her grand make-over doesn’t hurt one bit!;-)LT IMG_1170

I wanted to keep this look understated, so I paired this fire engine red dress with a bold necklace, simple earrings and a simple gold high-heeled sandals.

So, bring out the preacher man and get me to the church on time baby because I will simply die if I don’t hear those “I dos”!LT IMG_1494

Yes folks, it’s that time of year again – wedding season!  This time around I’m dressed for a romantic vineyard wedding up in the country!  Imagine promenading amongst vines upon vines of grapes ripening in the summer sun – savoring delicious glasses of wine, ah heaven!GT IMG_0513

GT IMG_0927

For these vineyard nuptials I went for a pink and lilac floral off-the-shoulder dress.  The dress, while formfitting, is still very comfortable so I can dance the night away under a twinkling night sky.GT IMG_0929

While I was going for a sexy and romantic look given the daring neckline of the dress, the hemline hits me just below my knee so I’m still keeping it classy too (wink, wink!) LOL

To complete my look, I added this blinged out bracelet and dangly gold earrings.  Of course, I had to have a clutch to hold all my bits and bobs.  With that my friends, I’m ready for another twirl around the dance floor!GT IMG_0523

When the weather warms up like this, it means one and only one thing: it’s time to get summertime fine! Lol Because I’m often quick to run to the store or online for a fly look, I challenged myself to get creative with existing pieces from my wardrobe.

ND Edited IMG_1124

Honestly, I know it’s really not that hard to pull pieces from your own wardrobe, but when your closet is in utter chaos (I can’t be alone on this one… am I? ?? Lol) it’s easy to forget some of the gorgeous pieces hidden in its depths.

Summer equals color, color, and more color. So when I rediscovered this Dedo Azu asymmetrical skirt, I knew that it would be at the center of my look.

ND Edited IMG_1222

I paired my dress with a sweetheart neckline top (which is actually a dress) that I wore here. Because I wanted the fullest full skirt ever, I added a tutu underneath. So I was basically wearing a dress with two skirts lol but it created just the right look that I was looking for and I didn’t drop a dime. YAY ME!

I finished off my look with a black cut out cuff for a dash of edge, some dangly black earrings and mustard pumps because it just goes! With that, I’m ready for summer night awesomeness!

I love wearing pretty summer dresses when  the weather warms up and this one is one of my faves! I’m sure you won’t be surprised to know that it was the gorgeous colour and super cool African print that drew me to this dress. The colour is fun and vibrant, while the print has the shape and symmetry that just appeals to me!

LT Edited IMG_1027

While this is a halter dress, I opted to rock it with a leather moto style jacket to give the illusion that it is actually a skirt. Truth be told, I also did this because I did not have time to have it altered and it’s still a wee bit too big!LOL But this just goes to show what you can do when you think outside the box!

The midi length of this dress is perfect for the tall girl and the flared skirt gives me some added volume on my bottom half.

LT Edited IMG_0853

The accessorizing of this outfit was easy. I wore a studded black belt to highlight my waist, and a little sparkle at the ears in the form of dangly earrings. To turn the colour all the way up, I added these neon yellow stilettos; and with that, I was ready to enjoy a warm spring evening and night out with that special someone, or with great friends!

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but I would have to add sequins to the list too.  So, without question this skirt is the star of this outfit.  It hugs me in all the right places and when the light catches just right, its as though I’m shining bright like a diamond.

Dressing up and dressing well is something that I love doing oh so much.  For my dressy look I went for a subtle feminine, femme-fatale red dress. I was fortunate enough to find this gorgeous red dress that almost looks like a 2 piece set, in my favorite scuba material.  Red is a color that a lot of people shy away from, however you can never go wrong with the right shade of red. I found this dress on my favorite website, ASOS, and since the dress was well priced (you know I’m always looking for a great deal) I just had to have it!

JS Edited IMG_1395

What drew me to this dress is the illusion of it being a 2 piece set.  Also, I’m a sucker for a voluminous puffy skirt. Since the top of the dress is fitted and looks like a crop top, the bottom part being puffy creates an overall effect that I simply love!

JS Edited IMG_1543

Another great thing about this dress is that it is made out of a scuba material; it always does right by me.  I love the stretch that this material offers, but more importantly, I appreciate that the material holds me in at all the right places. A thicker scuba material carefully smooths out my blemishes which is always a plus.

JS edited IMG_1414

To complete my feminine femme-fatale look I paired my dress with some leopard print pumps and a sparkly necklace, and voila, I’m ready to conquer.

Thank goodness the warm weather has finally arrived!  It’s finally time to store away the winter coats and boots and pull out the colourful clothing.

4F-3004_edited

I’ve purchased this royal blue skirt with net detail on the Eloquii site some time ago.  The netting detail is to die for and was seen on all of the runways.  From Proenza Schuler, Alexander Wang to Cushnie et Ochs netted clothing pieces are the thing for Spring.

4F-3024_edited

I paired my royal blue skirt with a seafoam blue netted top from Old Navy. I love the play of colours and it puts me right in the spring-time mood!  The netted skirt is a midi length on me and the waistband has an elasticized waist so its super-duper comfortable.  I completed my look by adding these striped pumps and this fun colourful necklace.

Trends. They come and go. While some are adamant about never following trends, I think they can be fun to partake in. While I wouldn’t break the bank for any trendy pieces, I like to incorporate them into my wardrobe every now and then.

DSC_3164_edited

The cold shoulder trend is all the rage right now, and I’m loving it. It was seen all over the runways from Proenza Schouler to Derek Lam. This is a subtle (and sexy!) way to show some skin this summer. Since my cold shoulder top is a crop top, I decided to pair it with high wasted pants. This way, my middle section isn’t Aaalllll out. Just a peak of skin just how I like it.

4F-3101_edited

I know that the post is supposed to be about the top but these pants, my tall sisters, are the truth. I’ve written about them before, but I still love them so very much! Fit on point, great color and, of course, the length is perfect! ZARA continues to impress me as I’ve spotted some pants with a 39″ inseam!!! These work perfectly for my long long gams. This is proof positive that we can’t always discount “regular” stores. And while the struggle is indeed quite real, sometimes, it’s worth just giving it a try.

4F-3084_edited

I was channeling my inner Carmen Jones baby! And while I didn’t have flowers in my hair, I decided to have them on my feet! Lol. With that and a red lip, I’m ready to take on the summer!

I couldn’t wait to put my winter jacket and boots away and transition into a lighter, more colorful wardrobe.  Since I’m always craving color, when I happened upon this colorful cape blazer I knew I had to have it. The search for this cape blazer actually started a few months ago when I first saw it on the Simplybe US and Simplybe UK websites. The only hiccup is that these 2 sites don’t ship to Canada. Well, since my middle name is “fighter” cause I never give up without a fight lol, when my American cousin said he was coming to visit us in Canada the light bulb went off in my head and I ask my good ol cuz to get it for me. Side note the blazer had gone down in price by 75% so I was even more eager to get it.
DSC_3229_edited

When I finally got the blazer I couldn’t stop looking at myself in the mirror, I loved it so much. The mix of colours in the stripes are a perfect combination.   This blazer is a big statement and a great addition to my spring and summer wardrobe.  The stripe pattern of my blazer reminds me of some of the pieces seen in Christian Siriano and Clover Canyon’s Spring and summer 2016 collections.

DSC_3264_edited

The blazer is by a company named Lavish Alice, and I must say, they make great pieces. I actually discovered them through ASOS, so now I will definitely be checking them out on a regular basis!

To keep the focus on my blazer I wore a simple black tank top, my black high-waisted pants and topped it all off with my blush pumps and I am ready for the warmer weather.

Spring is one of my most favourite times of the year. It’s like the build-up to the climax in a great movie; the delicious appetizer before the main course, or the beginning cords to that track you love to sing along to or dance to in the club– you catch my drift;-)

With spring comes some new trends, some timeless ones and sometimes those that are just making a revival! The spring trend I’m just loving right now is the low slung wide leg trouser. This trend calls to everything that is just me: low waist line, uber relaxed fit and looking effortlessly pulled together yet just a little boho!

DSC_3309_edited

Putting this look together was super simple. I started with a colour palette that I just love any time of year (i.e. grey), and slid into these wide leg trousers. The low slung look works so well for me since, more often than not, my trousers are a little big in the waist. This look means one less trip to the tailor!lol

4F-3352_edited

I then added a simple tank top and this oversized coat to complete the look. Then I moved on to accessories!!! I wanted to elevate this look with some bling, so I added this gorgeous necklace, kept the earrings simple, and added a large cuff. You can easily add a great colourful handbag to this look to give it some extra pop (and that is how you will see me when I rock this look in the streets of the 6ix:-)

And with that, I was ready to head out for drinks with the crew!

Despite the chill in the air, spring is here, and with it comes fresh air, warmer breezes and an array of colours! LT Edited IMG_5810

LT Edited IMG_5951

Coordinates were a hot thing last year, and I dove into this trend head first, but only recently pulled this little number out of my closet. With its black and white print that helps to make my body look a little fuller with the fitted pencil skirt and blousy top, it also provides the perfect foundation for paring with a host of colours, both bright and muted.LT Edited IMG_6086
LT Edited IMG_6108

I wanted to add a pop of colour that would leave a lasting impression on those retinas, so I pulled out my neon green coat perfect for keeping away what’s left of the winter chill, but bright enough to ensure that you get seen. This coat is not for the faint of heart or for those preferring to blend in! It’s for the woman that is not afraid to stand out in a crowd!

LT Edited IMG_6146
Accessorizing this look was a synch. Black and white goes with just about everything, so I decided to add a little more print to this look in the form of these snake print colouful pumps. The colours compliment the look beautifully and the print adds more visual interest and frankly, I just love ‘em.LT Edited IMG_6127

LT Edited IMG_7387I kept the jewelry super simple by rocking this funky geometric design cuff and pewter earrings. This look is perfect for an after work gathering or, if you switch up the earrings, would be great for a day at the office when you want to show your colleagues that “yeah, I still got it”!LOL

So have fun with colour this season and remember, don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd!

For my brunch look I went with the so called “Canadian Tuxedo”. LOL  Denim on denim was a definite no no for me, but I broke that all up by adding this faux fur vest.

GT IMG_9691

These skinny jeans are the bomb.com.  Now I know finding great fitting jeans or pants, for that matter, can be a difficult task.  When looking for the best fitting jeans, I always try to fit the largest part of my body first.  Yes, often times that means that the waist is too big for me but I just traipse on over to my neighbourhood tailor to have them altered and I’m good to go.

Next came the shoes.  I went for my trusty wedge booties.  Last but not least was this blushed coloured purse by Rebecca Minkoff!  I love this purse because it can be worn cross body or as a regular shoulder bag.  Now my “Canadian Tuxedo” look is complete.  Yo, somebody get me a mimosa!

LT IMG_0073
We’ve been lucky in the 6ix this winter and have not been hit too hard with the winter chill. So I tossed aside my winter parka for a cute punch of colour in the form of this coat.

LT IMG_0107

The rest of my look was subdued elegance. I went for a very neutral colour palette, donning a simple sleeveless oatmeal coloured funnel neck sweater and faux leather leggings.

To round out my outfit, I stepped into my leopard print pumps, threw all my “necessities” into my trusty LV bag and I was ready for my mimosa and some bacony goodness (sorry to my vegetarians out there. I just love my bacon!:-)

One thing I love is getting together with my girls for brunch! We talk, we laugh, and most importantly we eat.  For this post I will highlight what I wear for a typical casual brunch with the ladies. For this look I decided to wear a comfortable outfit that transitions well from brunching to running errands in the 6ix.

I chose to wear a nice blue, camel and black sweater that I scored at H&M which pairs beautifully with my camel “Olivia Pope” inspired coat.

JS IMG_0333

I wore my favorite pair of jeans which are my “Second Yoga Skin” jeans. These jeans are perfect for curvy girls like me as they fit like a glove and they do not cause the gaping at the back of the waist – hallelujah!

To complete my daytime look I jazzed it up with my grey ankle booties I got from BCBG a long time ago. The price was so good that I got the black ones as well. I don’t regret these two purchases at all cause ‘til this day I rock them and they still look like new!

JS IMG_0349

Awww … the struggle of having big feet makes you appreciate it all the more when you find fantastic shoes, and when you have them you treat them like precious gems!

The finishing touches for my look were my camel coat and this cute camel and brown coloured leather clutch, and now I’m ready to start my day.

Brunching is one of those essential parts of life!! That’s when we leave our phones, social media and worries at the door and just focus on connecting. This time, we chose to check out a really laid back spot so I kept my look casual cute.

ND IMG_9839

Most weekends, you’ll catch me wearing jeans. They are comfy, fit for all kinds of occasions and are just a must have for my lifestyle. Because I wanted my look to have a little edge, I decided to go with these ripped jeans (which I distressed myself btw!).

ND IMG_9883

I paired my jeans with a high low sleeveless turtleneck and my trustly leather jacket to keep the chill at bay. Tall girl story about this jacket: it was a gift (from my now hubby) and I loved the jacket BUT the sleeves were too short… Shocking. So to fix that, we took it to a leather goods store and they were able to find leather that matched perfectly to lengthen my jacket! When I tell you that we have to be creative! Finally, because I don’t feel good until I have a pop of color, I finished my look with these hot pink pumps.

Now pass the mimosas… minus the OJ LOL

I cannot believe that we started this blog a year ago now (technically more than a year) and it has been a whirlwind of a ride! I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to share our message of body positivity with you and showcase some great designers, collections and pieces that work for all body-types. Thank you for following us and I hope you’ve enjoyed the ride as well!

Since it’s a celebration, we just had to paint the town red! And really, what’s a celebration without some hot looks to help us get into the partying mood! My look, is a little glam, a little girlie and a touch of fun. Since I have a slim silhouette, I always love wearing pieces that give me some extra curves. This tutu skirt does just that, lending to the girlie feel as well as enhancing my curves.

LT Edited IMG_0433

I just had to have a little bling, so this sequin top that I scooped up from Top Shop added just the right touch of sparkle. To this I threw on a leather quilted bomber jacket to add some contrast to the girlie, glitziness of the outfit and add a little edge.

LT Edited IMG_0397

Last, but certainly not least, was my finishing touch. These striped pumps from ASOS were the perfect accent to round out my look. And with that I’m ready to eat, drink and be merry….oh yea, and dance till I just can’t dance no more!;-)

This blog has meant the world to me.  It has given me the opportunity to really express myself in a way I’ve never been able to before.  I’ve always loved fashion.  I remember taping episodes of Fashion Television on the family vcr (I’m probably aging myself by mentioning this LOL) and watching them over and over again.  The issue always became how can I incorporate some of the awesome ready to wear looks and find them in my size!  When that became near impossible I just basically gave up and began making black pants and a top my uniform.  Happily, those days are long gone!

GT Edited IMG_0207

GT Edited IMG_0122

For this look I went with sexy, gothic and edgy all rolled into one.  As you probably know I’m a little gaga for faux fur so of course my blog anniversary look had to incorporate this material somehow.

Given that my look is all black I wanted to play with different textures and materials to make the look more interesting.  So I’m working a faux fur in the form of this 3/4 length jacket and faux leather in the form of this pencil skirt.

Yes we made it! 1 year might not be a lot for some, but I truly cherish this milestone and couldn’t be more proud to be ¼ of this amazing quartet. So to celebrate our 1 year anniversary I decided to part ways with my usual dress attire and wear an all-white suit.

JS Edited IMG_0269

Let me talk to you about my white suit. I fell in love with it when I saw it on the Eloquii site.  As the avid sales searcher that I am, I bided my time and scored this fabulous suit on sale a few months ago.  The price went down so much around the holidays that I bought it in black as well! This falls in line with the notion that a lady always needs to have a nice suit in her clothing arsenal.

JS Edited IMG_0329

When I saw this suit I had a vision of wearing it with a little sexy black bralet or bustier to take it to the next level. I’m talking Solange epic all white cape wedding picture that would break the internet LOL. Well one is rarely disappointed with Eloquii and can more often than not, expect great quality. The cape fit me perfectly and I don’t have to worry about the sleeves of the blazer being too tight, which is often the case for me when I wear a blazer.

JS Edited IMG_0341

The pants are a good fit and I love that they are high waisted which is a plus when you want to pair it with a crop top. Speaking of crop tops, I chose to wear a sparkly black and silver number which I premiered on our New Year’s Eve post.  To complete my look I wore some black and silver earrings and black pumps and I was ready for the celebration!

This milestone is so amazing to me. We have put in a lot of effort to make this blog thrive and I’m happy to celebrate its “birth” with the women I love. Beyond what you see on this platform, our sisterhood has truly flourished through all our ups and downs. I am quite excited to see what the future holds for us.

ND Edited IMG_9972

And I cannot go on without acknowledging everyone that has supported us on this journey. Of course the firsts on my list of thank yous go out to my hubby and my baby girl! And of course there are all our families and friends and extended friends whom we have met through this platform! To all our readers, frequent and sporadic: thank you. Thank you for the likes and the comments and the reposts and for just being awesome!

ND Edited IMG_9898

So, before I get too emo, let’s get into this outfit shall we! This outfit is 100% me because it is rather simple but accessorized to the fullest! LOL The star is, without a doubt, the skirt. It’s made with a great scuba material which hugs my curves oh so well! It can be worn in so many ways and settings (yes, I will make this work for my business casual office environment!). I love the contrasting striped border – it’s all in the details.

ND Edited IMG_9882

Then, to dress up my look, I went with a slew of cool and bold accessories. First, we have this tasseled necklace. I wore it backward to add a little fun in the back (by now you know that I wear a bunch of things backwards LOL). Then we have this cuff, I love the leather straps because it adds just a hint of toughness to the look. We have this ring that I totally fell head over heels for and the belt, just to define my waist.

With this I was ready to toast with my girls to celebrate one year, wishing for many more!

Fashion Week 2016

GRP IMG_8927

Fashion week is here and once again the ladies of Fab Four Fashion are getting ready to strut their stuff at David Pecaut Square.  Picture it, 4 different beautiful women with 4 different unique styles, one can only imagine that fashion week 2016 would not be the same without Fab Four Fashion.  With that being said, we cordially invite you to feast your eyes on this elegant post that the Fab Four have cooked up for you!

What I love most about fashion week, other than attending the runway shows of course, is dressing up to express my creative vision. This year I went for sophisticated chic meets bold vibrant print. I wore this 50’s inspired green dress with a black elephant print. I scored this little number on sale on the eShakti website. The dress was half price plus they had an additional 40% off on top of that! As you already know from our previous post featuring eShakti, they specialize in customized pieces catering to every size and shape.JS IMG_9667

To add an extra layer of volume and edginess to my lovely dress I wore a black tutu underneath (stay tuned because I’ll be premiering this glorious black tutu in an upcoming post). The goal was to have the tutu peeking out beyond the hem to show off a bit of the black crinoline and make it seem like its part of the dress.

My outfit would not have been complete without a ¾ sleeve feather jacket to add a pinch of pizzazz and flare to my look.  To spice things up I wore my gold and black Ivanka trump pumps and a tiny gold belt to add more definition to my waist. Since my look is 50’s inspired, I added a sexy pair of long leather gloves ending at the elbow to further play on the retro theme.

JS IMG_9622

And finally, the piece that will make every head turn is this to die for clutch. Let me tell you about this breathtakingly beautiful piece of art which I discovered on Instagram.  It’s designed by Ka$hmir this lovely girl who decided to turn her creative juices to clutches, and several other pieces. I was so impressed with her work, I just had to order one of her clutches to show my support. All I can say is that I was impressed from the time I placed my ordered to the time I actually received my clutch. I will definitely be ordering more of her beautiful creations and besides, I am all about women supporting women.

Let me go grab my clutch and voila, I’m ready to rip the runway in style!

Fashion week is always action packed but oh so much fun! I can’t wait to see the fashionable offerings of the other fashion lovers along with what our Canadian designers are cooking up for next fall/winter.

ND IMG_9160

Although Miranda Priestley might not approve, I decided to rock a floral shirt and pants combo. I loved the print and most importantly, it’s super comfortable! Almost like pyjamas (which would keep me on trend as seen on the Thakoon and Givenchy Spring 2016 runway! HA! lol).

ND IMG_9235

I also wanted to play on the colors and prints, so I paired my look with some of my sweetest sweet babies – ie my shoes from J. Crew. These fit like a glove and are so darn cute! I completed my look with some gold baubles.

Stay tuned for our action packed week on all our social media platforms!

Nothing is better than a good piece of leather, and these oh so sexy leather overalls I scooped up at H&M make my heart do an extra little pitter-pat! Fitted, funky and fresh is how I would describe this look and I will agree with my big sis (i.e. Gail’s) description of it having a ”Mad Max” vibe and I can dig it!

LT IMG_9780

Needless to say, the key piece in my look were these overalls. I paired them with an off-the-shoulder cashmere, loose fit sweater to give the look an effortlessness and my leopard print pumps to add a touch of print to this simple colour palette.

LT IMG_9834

So, with a quick spritz of my favourite perfume, and my fashion week pass in hand, I’m off to the shows to see what’s going to be hot for Fall/Winter 2016!

GT IMG_9361

GT IMG_9563

I went for SPARKLE baby!  The star of this outfit are these sequin covered shorts.  When I spotted them in Forever 21 I just knew I had to have them!  These shorts are super comfortable and have just the right amount of stretch.

GT IMG_9408

Given that these shorts are “lead” in this outfit I kept the rest of my outfit rather quiet.  I donned a white cropped jacket and simple black tank top.  I brought the sparkle upwards with this long tassel necklace and some bling around my wrist.

GT IMG_9579

Last but not least is the handbag/clutch from Alexander Wang.  As the other ladies of Fab Four Fashion know, I’m  a handbag FANATIC!  What I love about this bag is the metal studs on the bottom giving that dash of edginess to my look.

With that, my fashion week look is complete!

Sumissura Blazer Edition

Group Edited Sumissura IMG_0428

We have covered pants, and shirts, but blazers are also a wardrobe staple that every woman should own. When perfectly tailored, this single garment can have you covered for a multitude of settings. However, those longer arms or that larger bust can make finding that perfectly tailored blazer mission impossible. Wouldn’t it be neat if you could just go to one place and find a blazer with an awesome fit that comes in a myriad of colors and customizable details? Well search no longer, Sumissura to the rescue!

Nancy’s Blazer

ND Edited Sumissura IMG_1059

Blazers are such a must have but finding the perfect one is a PAIN! That is why Sumissura is such a life saver. You get a quality garment which fits well at an affordable price. Plus, the options are truly endless so everyone is sure to find something that tickles their fancy.

ND Edited Sumissura IMG_1110

As mentioned in our Sumissura shirt review, using their website is really easy. The system prompts you to enter your measurements, even showing a picture of how to adequately take those measurements. By inputting your height and weight, the software provides “suggested measurements” and if you enter a measurement that seems off, you get an error message.

Needless to say that my blazer fits perfectly and yes tall girls, this means that the sleeves are LONG! Let us take a moment of silence for long sleeves that are actually long! What a noble concept!

ND Edited Sumissura IMG_1178

I decided to go with a peak lapel, double breasted four button blazer. I wanted  a nice jewel color so I decided to go with an emerald green (“Robin Hood” on sumissura.com). So while I was thrilled to see this rich color, my husband noted that it looked like I had won the Masters (google PGA green jacket… LOL) So while I was glad that I looked like a winner, I had to style it so that I could shake off the golf reference.

I paired my blazer with a fun two toned pleated skirt. I accessorized my look with simple gold accessories and had to steal one of my hubby’s pocket squares. I added a fun pom pom button and finished my look with some striped pumps.

Leslie’s Blazer

The watch words for my look were fit, flare, fashionable geek chic! Sumissura has hit another home run for me when it comes to providing a fashionable look, with a fit that speaks of quality bespoke tailoring.  No need for the big “post purchase production” of lengthening sleeves and taking in waistlines for us slim girls! (Let’s have a momentary pause for a happy dance!)

PM-LT Edited Sumissura IMG_0696

True to form with Sumissura, I had the opportunity to jump into the designers seat and style my jacket to my personalized specifications, taking into account everything from the fit (i.e. straight cut or slim fit); the length of the jacket, whether I wanted it double or single breasted, one button or two, the style of the collar and on and on and on! My favourite part was selecting the  material and print! I knew I had landed on a winner when I came across this beautiful print reminiscent of classic British tweeds and plaids.

LT Edited Sumissura IMG_0518

I wanted my look to have a neutral   base with some punches of color to add a little pizzazz. Since I simply love blues I selected this blue striped shirt to add that pop of colour, along with some blue in my pocket square and these black and blue striped shoes!

LT Edited Sumissura IMG_0658

A girls always got to have something to hold her bits and bobs, so I opted to carry them all in this gorgeous Mulberry Bayswater bag.

So start your engines ladies and gents and get your made to measure, customized blazer. Say “buh-bye” to too short sleeves, too big bust-lines or too narrow shoulders. Jump into the driver’s seat and create your own stylish blazer!

GT Edited Sumissura IMG_1331

Sumissura has a great selection of materials available for you to choose from.  I went with a short berry coloured velvet blazer with cut away hem in the front.  I was even able to choose the interior lining for my jacket as well.  Since I had saved my measurements when I had my blue check shirt made, I merely re-selected those numbers and I was good to go.

GT Edited Sumissura IMG_1292

Once again, the shipping was lightening quick!  In about a week I was able to slip into my tailor made jacket and the fit was on point!

We all know that blazers are definitely a wardrobe staple but often times it’s so difficult to find an affordable one off the rack that fits perfectly or as close to perfect as possible.  That’s what’s so wonderful with Sumissura’s service. They allow you to have a custom made blazer at an affordable price!  I call that a win – win situation!

Well it’s not surprising that we are collaborating again with Sumissura. We had such a great experience working with them the first time that we just had to do it all over again. This time around we are featuring their fabulous Blazers.

For this collaboration I chose a black velvet blazer. You may probably be wondering why velvet? Well, I had a vision of glam and a bit of Janelle Monae. I have to admit I’m not typically the biggest fan of velvet, however when a velvet fashion garment is rocked well, I’m here for it.

Judy Edited Sumissura IMG_0767

Again, I cannot stress enough how easy the Sumissura website is to navigate. You can select everything from the material to be used, to the shape, fit and detailing of your blazer.  And the great thing with their website is that when you register and enter your measurements the first time you place an order, their system automatically saves it for the next time you visit the site! How awesome is that!

JS Edited Sumissura IMG_0867

For this look I went with a simple black and white colour palette. I elected to wear my blazer with no shirt underneath and a big statement necklace to bring life to my outfit. To complete my look I wore my 3/4 black and white gingham print pants which I wore last year for the Autumn Prints Post. To add a little bit of pizzazz to my outfit I wore my Ivanka trump dark wine suede pumps and a nice beaded velvet clutch.

Ringing In the New Year

GRP IMG_0776

The holiday party season just keeps on going and going! As much as Christmas has a special place in all of our hearts, New Year’s Eve is really the punctuation mark to the festive season. Like the big finale at the end of a great show! The cherry on top of that delicious ice cream Sunday or that final scene of the season finale of Scandal!lol NYE is when you want to let it all hang out and start the new year anew! You also may want to dance the night away, and should you elect to do so, you gotta do it in STYLE! Check out some looks that your Fab Four Fashion girls cooked up for you to ensure you make a splash for that big holiday finish!

LT IMG_9967

The name of my New Year’s Eve game was sparkle and shine! I wanted to turn up the heat with a look that would bring a little bling to the new year!

LT IMG_0110

Ladies, the one thing we all need to know about our bodies, is the part we like most (i.e. your best feature). Ask yourself, what do you feel comfortable showing off, or accentuating. Is it your tiny waist line, your voluptuous silhouette, that great bust line or those sculpted arms or back? Once you’ve narrowed that down, it’s a lot easier to select pieces to draw the focus to the area of your choice, rather than to the areas you’d prefer not to highlight.

LT IMG_1049

For my look, I wanted to draw the focus to my long legs, so I went for this mini sequins bodycon dress. You can’t miss the sparkle, but you can’t miss the gams either! I also love my back and this is another area where I like to show a little skin. So I went for this backless number that does the job oh so well!

LT IMG_0046

So ladies, your resolution for 2016 should be to figure out what your best feature is, if you don’t know already, and find pieces that make you shine bright like a diamond (not necessarily literally the way I’ve done)LOL!

New Years Eve is the time to celebrate with your friends and family and count the many blessings in your life. It is also the time to glam up and unleash your fierceness.

This year my NYE look is a “DYI” glam; allow me to break it down for you. I always wanted to wear a low cut dress, but since I was blessed with big boobs, low cut is not always a great option and in order to achieve this look I would have to invest in a whole lot of fashion tape LOL.  I have been eyeing this beautiful low cut forest green dress from Forever 21 for a while now, and it peaked my interest because of the low cut (of course) and my desire to try something new in the form of this shade of forest green. When I slipped it on I immediately fell in love, and while striking a pose in the fitting room, my vision of finding the perfect bralette to wear underneath came to life. I was determine to make this vision a reality.

JS IMG_9701

The dress fit great, but I wasn’t crazy about the below the knee length. I was also not a big fan of the split on each side of the  bottom part of the dress, however I was not worried because I knew that I would take it to my seamstress and have her fix it the way I wanted.  I was even happier to get the dress for under $50.

JS IMG_9646

My next mission was to find the bralette to wear underneath. I perused through a couple of stores with no luck, but in the end my favorite online retailer came to the rescue YAY! “VIVA ASOS”!  I went to the sale’s section and there it was, just waiting for me, this gorgeous black sequins bralette! I did my happy dance when it turned out to be on sale for the sweet price of $22.  My goal was to get a wicked outfit for less than $100 and I did. The last piece, I must admit, I splurged on though. This faux fur coat that I got from Eloquii is perfect to ring in the new year in style. Yeah, I could have done without it but, I just couldn’t resist this ¾ sleeve faux fur jewel of a coat, and I know I will most certainly use it again. I must say I am thoroughly pleased with the final result of the complete look, and so relieved that my vision came to life in such fine form. With all the alterations, my dress fit me perfectly, it’s very sexy but also very chic and the black sequins bralette raises the glam factor to a 10/10.

With my NYE look completed I’m ready to take the New Year by storm and to continue to explore my fashion sense.

Nancy’s Look

My look consisted of gold, glam and grace! Based on my height, I often describe myself as statuesque (I borrowed the term from a fellow tall lady who decided to change her perspective from seeing herself as “lanky” to “statuesque”… It’s all in the way you perceive yourself right?) So for my NYE’s look, I was inspired by an actual statue: the Oscar statuette! Ok… Not really. LOL But with this dress and all the gold that I was sporting, we playfully referred to me as the Oscar the entire day of the shoot.

ND IMG_0171

This column dress is made specifically with the tall woman in mind. I practically did a backflip as soon as I laid eyes on it! As stated in our segment, I was rocking 4″ heels, and my dress still touched the ground! How often does that happen? And the color, oh the color! It’s so rich and compliments the hue of my skin oh so well. It had me feeling like I was covered in liquid gold. The dress has a lot of stretch to it, so don’t be afraid of going down one size: I went with my usual size and ended up taking it to the tailor for adjustment  and now it fits perfectly!

ND IMG_0731

Then there is the décolletage, oh the décolletage! The dress boasts a deep V in the front and in the back. So ladies, you have to get creative in securing the “girls” and to avoid a wardrobe malfunction! I went with a deep U-plunge bra which is seamless, so it won’t cause any unwanted bulges. Alternatively, using some good ol’ tape will do the trick.

ND IMG_1121

I finished my  look with all the gold baubles I could put my hands on: body chain to add interest in the areas where my skin was exposed. Gold dangly earrings because my chains were dainty and discrete. Gold rings because they were just oh so cool. And gold bangles because, well, they’re just my staple! Honorary mention to the shoes that peeked ever so slightly! lol.

So now, in addition to looking like one, I’m ready to sip on a tall glass of champagne!

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose… It’s that time of year again, when the holiday party invitations start rolling in and we ladies run to our closets to find that special something that will put us in a festive mood.

This gorgeous lace dress from Alloy Apparel’s plus size line hits all the right notes.  With its short sleeves and figure hugging silhouette, it’s perfect for that office Christmas party.  Moreover, the length of this dress is spot on for me given I’m on the short side of the height spectrum.  This lovely lace dress also has a little stretch to it as well so it really does hug ones figure wonderfully.

With the Holiday season fast approaching, trying to find the perfect holiday outfit to hit those parties in style can be daunting for some. Well we’ve joined forces with Alloy Apparel to showcase a few pieces from their holiday collection, that will make everyone believe you are the Obi-Wan Kenobi of holiday fashion finds!

I’m the type of gal that likes to live on a glam high all year long, and this holiday season is no exception.  My look was all about GLAMOUR, lookking FABULOUS and being BOLD! I present to you Cookie Lyons younger sister, Chanel Lyons (for those who watch Empire I know you get me LMAO). While browsing through the Alloy Apparel website I found this lovely sequins champagne wrap dress. The dress is fully lined with a hemline ending just above the knee. The great thing about Alloy is that they cater to all sizes and you can find most items in straight, tall and plus sizes, and you know Fab Four Fashion loves companies that understand that fashion is for all.

js IMG_7259

One thing I must say, I selected my dress size based on the size chart and was surprised to find that when it arrived I had quite a bit of room to spare.  Therefore one can conclude that for this particular item, Alloy is very generous with their sizing. Works for me, cause I’d rather my dress have a little extra room than be too tight. This is an easy fix, the solution, my fave person, my tailor and voila, problem solved. Alternatively, you can always order a size smaller and with the stretchy material you will be fine.  This dress is gorgeous, a total show stopper and will definitely be a hit during the holiday season.  My tall and plus size babes can all dive into this sassy little number too!

js IMG_7400

To complete my Cookie Lyons’ inspired look, LOL, I chose to wear a spotted faux fur leopard print coat which is simply the business and perfect to wear on those cold winter nights. It’s big and its bold and most importantly it’s warm. To finish off my look I paired the dress with my blush patent pumps and long dangly earrings, and of course, my signature red lipstick muah!!!! Here she is the latest cast member of Empire: Cookie’s younger sister CHANEL LYONS!

For the past couple of weeks, all attention has been on what to wear to parties and rocking the best and fiercest freakum dress. Well what about those dinners with friends, or that get together with family that doesn’t need to be too formal? If you need an outfit for those occasions and your mom’s been begging you to put those jeans away, well here is a great alternative.

This is probably coming to you as no surprise, I went with a sequin number! lol These pants are awesome: simple black jeans in the back and sequins in the front! The jeans half have just the right amount of stretch to ensure great comfort while the front says BAM! Here I am! lol The pants come in 32″ and 37″ inseam which is the perfect length for us long legged ladies. The sizing worked perfectly for me, I consulted the size chart and went with the size closest to my measurements. They have a snug fit but don’t dig in – none of that dreaded muffin top here!

Wanting to mix my materials, I paired my pants with Alloy’s Caroline Lace Zip Back Blouse. I wanted my look to be more on the sassy side so underneath my lace top I wore a tube top with a sweetheart neckline. If you prefer more coverage, you can easily wear the top with a camisole. It has an interesting back, boasting an exposed zipper and fly away back detail. This is another piece that will get many wears in many different settings.

Thanks to the good folks at Alloy Apparel, you now have a great option for those informal affairs where you still want to dazzle!

Leslie’s Look

The holiday season is upon us, and I for one have already been making merry at a few holiday shindigs so far! I’ve done the requisite work lunch with the colleagues, the after work dinner with friends (thanks Erum for organizing) and that oh so necessary ugly sweater party (Efua and Chris great party)!  But you always need to have a sexy little number to wear out for that special holiday event. Whether it be that fancy holiday party your significant other invited you to, or heading out to the club for a night out to shake what your mama gave you, you need to have a special piece in your holiday clothing arsenal to fit the bill. This dress, courtesy of Alloy Apparel & Accessories is my not so secret weapon.

This dress has all the sparkle a girl could ask for without being over the top, with the elegant colour combination of black and gold to lend that air of sophistication. This is a great piece because it is so versatile. Let me tell you how I plan to rock it now, and how I plan to remix it for the future.

So first of all, I’m rocking this dress backwards, yes, backwards. For those of us ladies with a very small bust-line, we often don’t want to wear garments that draws attention to our lack of large “lady lumps”. LOL  As such, wearing this dress with the front, to the back, raises the neckline, while adding a little exposure at the back.

The long slit on the side adds just the right amount of subtle sexiness to the dress to give people a little peep without giving away the whole show, and showing off those long gams. Now for how to keep this dress fresh and new for future events. First, I just know this dress would work fabulously as a mini! After a few wears, I plan to take it on a little trip to the tailor to take the length, up, up, up! For women on the taller side this would be an awesome option for you if the maxi length just doesn’t hit the mark.

Second wardrobe remix I plan to do with this dress is rock it as a top! A hot leather black pencil skirt would look phenominal withthis dress (a.k.a. top). The lesson here is to think outside the box when it comes to your wardrobe pieces.

One last tip ladies, if you decide this sexy number must come home with you, try going down one size. I’m actually wearing one size smaller than my actual size and it’s just a tiny bit big, but nothing that a tiny nip and tuck won’t fix. Take your measurements, consult the size guide and go one down a size with this one.

Now I’m ready to hit the next holiday bash! I love this time of year and I’m soaking it all in: the fashion, the fun and the festive hum in the air…cause its the most wonderful time of the year!
